Wow.
This game is one of the best looking games I have ever played on any system. Not only do the environment look great, the animation is superb. The lighting is awesome. Everything from shadows to sun glare lens effects. Everything looks natural. One area even has two tree where each leaf is an actual leaf !
The puzzles are challenging, but can be slighty "been there done that" after a while.
The only game I can compare this to is Tomb Raider, but instead of shooting the bad guys, you hit them with a stick :)
Get this game.

Funny how those four simple words can convey such a powerful and emotive feeling decades after they were uttered. Simply put - simple is best. Simple is what people understand. Simple is what people want. This game is simple.
Your character gets to move from point 1 to point 2. Simple huh?. Ico's graphics are simple. Its 2 main characters are simple pixels that move according to your command.The feeling of the game is simple. In fact the visuals, sound and gameplay are all just...simple...I guess thats why the game is such a beautiful,intriguing,captavating dream.
There are a few combats but mostly Ico is a puzzle game at heart. One of the puzzles is controlling your character in order to control another. You take the character by the hand and lead her around the castle(after rescuing her) solving puzzles and escaping demons. Thats it. That all the game encompasses, but by golly gosh it works so BEAUTIFULLY on so many levels it has to be seen to be believed.
However, in closing...if violence is your fortay then this game has nothing to offer you. That said I do enjoy my manhunter and MGS and still this game blew ME away. Ironic huh?.

I've had ICO for around a month and its one of the best games I have ever played. Its shocking that it has been largely overlooked by short sighted people that prefer the likes of fifa, and any other cheep rehash designed to apeal to the masses only to be compleated within a few dayes wasting alot of your hard earned/scrounged money like the Xbox. But NO this game has had alot of love and time spent on it and its payed dividends. I say again this is, IS the best game availble to PS2 owners the look of it is simply stuning and from the momement you rescue yorda from her cage your hooked. This largely is a pusle game and many weak minded people will shy away from the delights that this game has to offer. I dont want to give too mutch away as the whole point of this game, like super mario sunshine is its all about exploring the quite beutiful suroundings and finding out what is around the next corner. I hope that this game finds a wider audience as its been sorly overlooked. Its great just take my work for it, and if you dont like it you can alwayes take it back but if you do take it back without discouvering the true beauty of ICO then shame on you.

Not until you hear the fire crackling all around you. Not until you bash your first smoke demon with a 2x4, screaming to stay away from Yorda, your mysterious pale princess. Not until you solve the puzzle of the windmill. Not until you are rewarded your first weapon upgrade (a sword) after 2 to 3 hours of searching. Not until you meet the evil Queen of the castle. Not until you hear (or rather don't hear) the pure sound and ambience of the castle. Not until Yorda reaches out and saves you from falling to your doom will you truly appreciate this game.

ICO is MYST come alive. It is a "tour de force" of the Playstation 2's graphics capabilities, and is *the* game of the platform (including GTA3) just the way as Zelda was it for the N64. Some of the displays of the island and the castle - well, they're just smashing. The puzzles are hard enough to occationally make you ponder, but this is a game suited kids in ages from 7 and above I guess (- even if it gets scary at times!). Mothers may not want to buy this title for their daughters - the storyline has got a nice reenactment of some Freudian mother-daughter-issues. As for shortcomings, the sound-effects are the most noticeable. They are above average, but their lack of variation don't suit the extremely rich experience of graphics and gameplay. The other shortcoming is the replay-value. After we find Yorda on the beach we want to get into the forest, beat the crap out of some monsters with the lightsabre and then get back to the village, marry Yorda and put the hooded guys that put Ico on that castle in the first place on a behaviour-therapy program. Maybe that will happen in the sequel.

This game is beautiful, awesome, wicked, fantastic, and well, I'd say in the best 100 games ever. The graphics are amazing, the way the characters act, move, and interact with eachother are so real they're scary, and the whole enviorment with the right lighting, sounds, and objects are, just, unbelievable. I was reading the other reviews and people were angry that there wasn't any music. Well, in my opinion, what kind of castle has music? If you're so mad, why don't you turn on a stereo and listen to music from it while playing the game. Or you sing some music of your own? I think they were clever not to put music in, it makes it more realistic, and it's already beautifully realistic with or without music. Plus, if you want music, beat the game and you can here two beautiful songs in the end. Sorry if that offended anyone, but it was just making me so angry. There is one thing I do not like about the game. I think it's too short. I beat it in five hours. It's also an easy final boss at the end. I beat her in about 3 to 5 minutes. I was thinking it would be better if they made it longer, but I guess I'm expecting too much from an already excellent game. Overall, it's still one of the best games out there.

Ico is a great and original game. The Graphics are sick and the gameplay is awsome. Your objective in the game is to escape a castle along with a girl that you have to guide around yourself by holding hands. Graphics: The graphics in this game are sick. They are definitly one of the best on the system. Sound: The sound in this game are descent. The charecters don't speak english. They speak in this foreign language which means that you read the text instead. Another problem with the games sound is that their is no music. Theirs no music when you are trying to solve puzzles or just walking around in the enviornment. Theirs no music at all. But the enviorenments sound great. It feels like your really their. Gameplay: This is where the game gets its originality. This is the first time in any game when you can do this. In order to procede you have to guide around a girl in order to escape the castle. But its not like she just follows you around when you walk some place. No No No No. In order to procede you have to literaly grab hands and navigate her. When you want to hold hand you have to press L1 and boom they grab hand when your near her. But if your not near her you can call her by pressing L1 and boom he calls her and she comes to you. You have to bring her to these ancient looking blocks so she can open it. You cannot open it without her. But along the way you have to solve puzzles. They are easy, but their are 1 or 2 of them that could be a challenge. The controls were done very good and the whole game is very good. Value: This game has no replay value. Once you have beaten it you are basically done with the game. Its also very short. If your a true hardcore gamer you could beat the game in one day in under 5 hours. But the whole experience is a fun ride. Tilt: Ico is a great game. It shouldnt be missed by anyone who loves puzzle games.

Ico kinda reminds me of Tomb raider but in Medi-evil times, you run around like a headless chicken and look for clues for mind-bending puzzles and beat up every thin' that walks, except you protect a person while your at it. But you gotta admit its a great game, explore different areas, fight wierd-lookin' dark spirits (not budwiser) and protect a girl whos as pale as a snowball. The graphics are minted! you wouldn't believe how lights make a spectical of themselves on the main character! Ico has a great story line, A kid who has horns trys to be sacrificed by some Guys who have bags over their heads and try not to ruin there MACHO image by stuffing a child into a pod.Icos like errr...how do you say a mix of tomb raider and Zelda, But believe me....YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

I'd say that Ico has the some of the best graphics in game history. I like this game so much, they must of took their time when making it or they must have been planing this for a long time these puzzles are challenging but the graphics are great. The sound is the key factor, it goes with the game so good. When I entered my first room with the fire crackling, I thought I was in the game.

You are ICO.A adbandied boy who falls in love with a princess and has to save her from dangers.What you do to save her is solve mind-testing puzzles and exciting battles.ICO can pick up new weapons and use countless ones and there is alot of stuff to do and the graphics were amazing along with the sound effects.ICO is a great game for all of you puzzle and adventure fans and fun too.
