Now i see... It Rocks! | | Brad Felizardo from Luanda, Angola says (31/Jan/2004): | To throw some words up about some fighting game, you must be a master of it first, then you can talk about it. DOA2 rocks, i'm telling you this game is even better than Tekken 4, believe me, Tekken 4 may have some complex moves, but there's nothing better than that there, and you can do some complex moves on DOA2 too. On the first days you may became a bit disappointed because of the Story Mode, the end sequences don't have much sense, but i also noticed Tekken 4 has a lot of ending sequences without sense too (What's up with Marduk, Julia, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu, Law, Paul, Lei, etc? Simple! They need to get a life!) i don't know what's happening with these gamemakers. Well, i have both DOA2 and Tekken so listen to me.
DOA2 is more agressive than Tekken, and if some boring guy tells you that DOA2 has stolen moves why can't he tell wich ones? So ask him to shut up and ignore him. And if you're one of those gamers that has DOA2, play it until you start openning C6/C7 clothes with everybody, i'll guess you'll be already a semi-pro, and will already have some really good words about the game.
I started to see how DOA2 rocks by ingoring it (Yeah, i was on a position like yours), and playing Tekken 4 with my friends instead, after everybody being bored on less than 2 hours, they all asked if i have another fighting game or something, and there it comes up, DOA2. Well, the results? Everybody playing the game for more than 6 hours, and also words like these came up: "This is the game where we really see who kicks ass", "This is the game for true masters and pros", "This is the right game to beat who talks too much, and leave beginners crying".
Well, those aren't my words yet, DOA2 is simply great. I'll start getting at some points. On Tekken 4, you can master some players moves, but you may lose with the computer and friends too easy. For example, you can master those 10 hit combos of Miharu, but when you're reaching stage 5 and up on arcade, be sure that will be almost impossible to hit the opponent with them, why? Because Tekken 4 moves have rhythm, but they are slow, so you can almost everytime expect the guy will deffend them, Miharu can hit the first 3 moves of her 10 hit combo, but it's possible to defend the combo and avoid it to finish, what's the sense at all? A combo that can be deffended? Oh! on DOA2 the system isn't like that, you can even create your own combos, and they are fast, very fast, i created my own 7 hit or more combos with every fighter, and once i get them goin', even on very hard computer takes it. It's simple, master Miharu on Tekken, then master Ayane on DOA2, you'll see, with Ayane you can really defeat everybody, more than 20 wins on survival, but with those girls of Tekken like Xiao, ha, take them to Heachi or something and you'll see who's the master, you or him (well.. and it isn't very hard... we allways beat Tengu on very hard...). If you see DOA2 fighters falling from great places and you say "-Well, it's irrealistic, that isn't cool.." You probably never saw Dragon Ball, or you are a bit "anti-anim-like". That's what makes a game rock, why Dragon Ball rocks? That's what gives flow to the game, remember, THIS IS A GAME, not your father fighting with your teacher. But we should be able to hit the opponent when goin' down on it too.
Many ppl can say DOA2 don't have much players, well, Tekken4 don't have much players too, now, can Tekken4 fighters change clothes? han? han? Just 2/3? Oh, they don't have much money? more style? You should know how to really see the quality of a game, Tags are great, you can create combos with Tags, extreme combos, only for pros, and there's a new mode called Battle Rec., that's what proves what DOA2 is made of, put Battle Rec, chose Ayane, put Kasumi as opponent and play it on snow, if you don't like that i don't know what you'll like then. And of course i play more DOA2 than Tekken 4, DOA2 is greater... agressive... smooth... well, go to go. Now, if you have friends that are fans of Tekken, Street Fighter, etc, there's no way they gonna believe DOA2 is better, because those kids simply DON't ACCEPT it, fanatic ppl is like that, they just like what they adore. Final words? Buy DOA2, you won't regret it if you really like hot action smooth fighting games. DOA2 is unique.
| air combos | | shawn D from new jersey says (26/Jan/2004): | i must say this is the best fighting game ever the only thing better is DOA3. i give it a 9 out of ten only because the storyline is crap i must admit but thats it. the air combos off the hook, if u can do a 17 hit air combo with jan lee and jack and average 14 hit air combo with everyone else, then i think im the best to every play the game. still dont know if there's any codes for this game but i dont care. i say if u dont have GET IT and if u have it keep.
| You can use it as a frisbee... | | Wipper from Cape Town, SA says (10/Jan/2004): | Like I said.
You can use the disk as a frisbee. Honestly, this game sucks. It's moves are copied from various games (Tekken, Street Fighter)
The graphics are the only possible good point, whereas they are fluent and pretty, but come on! Why do all the girls in this game have such animated boobs? It's the only selling point. Come on. Then we have the story. This too, is useless. It is so bad that after I played through it just once with just one character, I felt unrewarded and cheated due to the tacky end sequence (which is almost identical for all characters) and the end of game boss. Not only is this guy the funniest thing on planet earth, he is also the cheapest, with basic moves and painful 'special' attacks. And oh wow! 2 whole secret characters! Crap. Crap. Useless. Then we have the wopping 10 characters to choose from! Wow! Tekken 2 was made before this and even that had more characters, moves, better stories and frankly, better all round gameplay than this turd pile!
Sell this stinkbomb and get something worth playing.
Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, anything but this!
| I'm not happy. I'm disgusted. | | Wipper from SA says (3/Jan/2004): | I can honestly say that this game is a waste of anyones time. A friend of mine bought the game and invited me to play it. Now, I'm a Tekken veteran, and frankly I've built a sum of what I expect of a game. A good game. A decent story, playability, graphics, lifespan and lastly originality are all important to a good gaming experience. Firstly, story. No. As in there is none. You would be more entertained (and luckier) if you were watching an old Charlie Chaplin movie. The story is crap. That is all there is to it. Just for the sake of it, I compare to Tekken 3. Hell, Tekken 1! Now here you have a story! AND character backgrounds! This will contribute to lifespan, which is pretty short in this case after you've completed story (STORY? HA!) mode. The moves are limited (And honestly cheaply ripped off from Tekken). Now a lot of people will probably rat me out for saying this, but please take the time to watch Tekken 3 or Tekken 4's characters and understand that the moves have been stolen from Tekken. Not all of them, but many. I do not say this as a Tekken fan, but as someone with common sense. DOA 2 may not be aware of it, but many of the moves are similar... identacle.
But Tekken did come first.
Playability: The characters move well, and the idea of throwing people off ledges is nice, but please get the weight right when you do it! These poor people collide with the earth with a force of truck! And thats just free falling from a kick, which doesn't change when the charcater is flung a mile into the air. please people, study up on this. we want realism in fighting creeds, unless otherwise stated by a charcters background.
Graphics: HOOOO BOY! Firstly, boobs. They are huge, they move, and are too big. I'm not gay, but I don't like that kind of distraction when I fight. It may seem like a clever distraction to start with but after a while it gets stupid and perverted. other than that, the graphics are pretty good. (WOW! Thats one point in thier favour)
Sell this game if you have it, and buy something else. Please. you'll do all your friends a favour, but more importantly you'll save yourself.
Absolute bull$#< remove me > at !. Buy Tekken. It is simple superior.
| DOA 2 Rules! | | A gamer from Osaka, Japan says (29/Sep/2003): | DOA 2 is really col. i could play it 4 hours! the graphics, the voices, the musics r way cool! But they could make the story lines a little longer so that u could understand the characters. Some things r a bit silly, when Ein says,"Where am i going?".the characters are amazing! it took me a while to finish the game. It's way better than Tekken. they could make the cheats easier to find, then it'll be perfect.
| What tha? So, this is Dead or Alive 2??? O.o | | Brad Felizardo from Angola, Luanda says (6/Sep/2003): | Dead or Alive 2 is completly the worst game i got on this month, it really sucks, i became really disappointed with this "second version". Ok, PS2 ya? So the graphics are better off course, but man, let's talk about the gameplay, like "Arcade Mode" in Tekken, there is a stupid "Story Mode" completely different from other fighting games, when playing in this mode (and it is the unique appropriate mode for 1 player) there are some Cut-Scenes. The graphics are well there, but man, let's talk about sense and logic, oh, those scenes have nothing of that! And when you reach the end with one player, the end movies of all players are even worst than the cut-scenes, none of those end movies can compare with the Tekken 3 end movies, now think about Tekken 4? Don't even compare... DOA2 don't even have a fair Intro (And don't compare with the Tekken 3 intro brother... that's comparing an eleffant with an ant), the intro is a preview of the so bad cut-scenes in Story Mode, it's like a preview of a game in the game itself! There aren't no great new moves too, the moves are almost the same of Dead or Alive 1, and the explosions on the outside of a ring doesn't exist anymore! This game doesn't even look like a tournament, they even can't make a really cool and bad boss, the boss is a "clown-like-thing" called Tengu, they can't make a boss better than that? The fighters are so confident now, they love to say things like "I never lose", "I allways win", arght, what kind of masters are they then? And the sounds of the game are bad too, only Bass's music is cool, and it doesn't plays loud. I'll just keep this game because i had DOA 1, and i was the best among my friends, so, DOA 2 can be part of my collection too. But to play, i think i'll buy Tekken 4, and you have to do that that too, ya? Don't waste money in DOA 2 brother!
| BEST FIGHTING GAME EVER!!!! | | Chris D. from Wisconsin says (23/Aug/2003): | THis is easily the best fighting game ever. I it was my first fighting game I ever bought and i don't need any others. Way better then Tekken or Virtua Fighter. It has the most simple control scheme I have ever used and I love the graphics. (Espically the JiGgLe) The most beautiful women in video games are also the most vicious fighters. The sound is topnotch and the reply factor is great. I bought it a year ago and still play it every day. Go and buy it rigth now!!!!
| perfect fighting game, but needs more story line. | | aka sharpshooter from Golden, USA says (22/Aug/2003): | I thought the game was cool, when i first played it, but after a while it got a little boring. I wish they would have more details, so you can have more fun playing it, for example they should have more story lines, so you can know more about the characters, and the codes should be easier to find. But aside from that I rate DOA2 ten over 10, and best game of the summer. And please contact me if anyone finds out how to do Lee Jahn's finishing move, where he cracks your neck and hits the other guys face to the floor.
| A very good game but not perfect. | | Rich from Riverside RI USA says (8/Aug/2003): | The game is great, but the end boss is a bit too easy. He is easily defeated by a massive combo. Also, story mode 's story lines could have been better and a bit longer. otherwise it is a well planned game that will hold your interest for a long time. I think it is a great title and will give you a good ammount of enjoyment.
| best fighting game ever | | yume from canada says (6/Jul/2003): | Personally i find this game awsome, much better than tekken. the graphics are done so well, the faces and anatomy have been created gorgeously. The lighting and shadows are done very well too. The stages are very creative, you can blast your opponent off buildings or through windows, etc. The costumes and characters have been designed very well, all of the characters are completely original, and the alternate costumes make the game even more fun. The sound on this game is great, very good choice of music, and the voice acting doesn't sound cheesy or fake (well it does sometimes... like when ein says "good vibration!" i crack up giggling). If there needs to be any improvement in this game it's to have more of a story, so you can understand the characters better... but maybe that just because i'm a RPG lover...
| This game is good, but it definately isn't Tekken Tag. | | Mitch from Hendersonville TN USA says (10/Sep/2002): | Now this game does rock, and it takes a while to beat. I've gotten pretty far and have almost every costume for every character. I hve no clue as to what a Tiera is or how to get it in survival mode. So if someone could please post exactly how to get it sometime that would be greatly appreciated. Back to comparing this game to tekken tag: Tekken Tag makes this game look like pre-school. The combos are good but Tekken has way too many moves and holds for DOA 2 to even compare to. DOA 2 does have much better outfits and girls, but that's not all a game should be based around(like this one obviously is). The graphics are a little better than Tekken. But that's just because the boobs bounce. I don't normally buy games just because the outfits look good or the girls are hot, but this game has something about it that you just have to see for yourself. But buy Tekken Tag first.
| the best game ever! | | aaa from cap says (27/Jun/2002): | This game is really cool. I thought you could only unlock 2 charecters but their is more secret ones! This is a must play for fighting gamers and casial gamers. The characters are cool, the females in this game are hot! Buy it!
| This......Is Hardcore! | | six pac user from bj3k the mega says (4/Dec/2001): | This game really can be compared to Tekken Tag and hell yeah its good but they both rule. Its a different style of fighting their is no kung fu or anything. Some of the styles are wresleing, drunken karate and other styles i really dont know.Their could use more charecters but their is enough their is Tina Armstrong,Lei and 12 more and their could of used more modes but their is enough some of the modes are Tag Mode,Story Mode,C.j. Gallery and Survivor.10 modes in all.The graphics are much better than the arcades too and their is alot of supeprizes like you can jump off ledges and break through walls and you unlock 2 charecters and the endings are awesomeS.Its hardcore, sexy, great graphics and sound, great fighting style and other things what more can you ask for???
