Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was by far the most anticipated game of 2001. At first, I really did not see what all the fuss was about because I was probably one of the only people who did not like Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation. Nevertheless, wanting to be part of the masses that purchased this game I did so.
and boy I made one AMAZING decision. This game is truly outstanding. No really. The graphics were absolutely top-notch and it was the little things like floating beer cans that really polished the game into the masterpiece that is by far the single greatest stealth action game ever. The story was so inspiring and it's twists and turn just kept me hooked until te very very end. The gameplay itself was fantastic. Likewise, the little things such as hand movement in first person really added to the realism. The best fight imo was with the Ray's at the end. Blowing them in the knee then in their open mouth was possibly the most satisfying gaming experience I have had in my life.
However, as my title suggests, this game is not QUITE perfect for three reasons:
1 - okay okay, this one is a little unfair since you can change the difficulty level, but I just thought that MGS2 was FAR too easy. But, with that said, the extreme/european extreme mode more than made up for the difficulty imo...
2 - The game was FAR too short. I mean seriously. Normal mode took me only 4 hours to complete. That's how short it is. Regardless of how brilliant the gameplay may be I think that the perfect game is long enough to indulge the hardcore gamer for a long time, which this one unfortunately didn't.
3 - Raiden. 'Nuff said.
So, all in all, if you want an action packed rollercoaster ride then pick up a copy of this game NOW and bless your PS2 with it. However, like all rollercoasters this game does seem to end too soon...

mgs2 is the best challenge i have ever had! as soon as i got inside and saw vulcan raven's shadow, i got nervous. could not sneak around the corner because there was a door and a guard on the other side. shot the guard first, then peered around to look at raven. Later in the game, you play the sissy, raiden. sure the saber is the cool weapon, but please! snake is a better choice to have that weapon. he would actually look threatening. seriously. raiden is a pussy. i am so relieved that he is not in metal gear solid 3: snake eater. that one is even harder than mgs2, but who cares? all the mgs games are sooo cool! when these games came out, i thought it would be like those dumb james bond games. i was wrong. watching my brother play the first two mgs games got me totally wanting to play them myself. it takes a while to get the hang of the controls, but you're unstoppable when you do. the graphics are really good, too. i thought that they would be poor, but i was wrong again. the creators did an awsome job! really close to being realistic. in my opinion, the mgs series gets a full ten out of ten! the lowest i would give it is an eight/ten because it is easy to get frustrated with the game's difficulty.

when I first played metal gear solid 1, on Ps1 many years ago I thought it was the best game in the world well for me, the story is so good and snake looks soo awesome with the black belt on his head and army looking suit, I just bought this game yesterday and found out that they still have his voices and such it was pretty cool, Metel gear solid 2 son of liberty have alot of variety even to aim at the guards vulnerble parts and they start shaking out items for you.
Some of the downside is, when snake does a jab, cross and jump spinning back kick they should changed into a combinations of, left jab right, and go into a clinch and mutiple knee strikes and elbows. But overall it is a great game.
With only a night of experinced heres what I rate it.
Grahphics- 9 very good who said splinter cell gonna smoke out snake snake going to kick his butt and you have a girl poster on a locker as well
Sound - 9 very nice with some cather music
Gameplay - 9 can't wait to get playin again
If you are looking for a snaeking missions you should buy this, the rest hitman, splinter cell etc can just followed snakes ways.

This is one of the best games i've ever played and as a gun or stealth game only second to substance (or possibly MGS which i played but dont own.The only bad things are Raiden(men) and metal gear ray.They were so easy compared to rex which only went down after a F*< remove me > at #! load of stingers and a severe blasting from a cyborg ninja. And does Raiden's suit have to be so revealing?
All in all one of the best games ever but if you like Snake get Substance because it has loads of extra stories with Snake and in the 3rd snake tale you get to kill Myril :). It's greatness is proved by the fact that only two posh english < remove me > at $$HOLES and an xbrick fanboy dont like it. SO MUCH BETTER THAN SPLINTER CELL

I just have to say that MGS2 is one of the best games ever. If you like it good for you, if you don't screw you. I thought it was really funny in the plant part where the main guy Raidan looks like a chick when he fights side by side with Snake. Also when he runs around naked in Arsonal Gear. It has a real cool storyline and cool graphics. The radar system is cool too. The person who sucks big time in the game is Emma, I'm happy she got stabbed from Vamp. P.S Get MGS3 out in stores now!!!!!

The depiction of populace in this debauched embellishment of a game is deprived of any discernment among a source of revenue. Enveloped in other things, this representation of post industrialism is prejudicial even in distinguished categories. The prospect of panoramic occurrences in this climatic sequence reprove the demonstration of deliberately sluggish behaviour. Imprudentce is unto the game designers self conscience whereby thine self is looked aside. In conclusion to my aggressive rebuttal, I would progress onto my associates against the purchase of this remorseful exertion of a so called game!! First I will start reviewing the good points of the game.
The graphics are breathtaking, and they really emerse you into the game. The background scenery of New York adds a very nice touch to the game. the control for the most part was fine. It was a very simple set up for the amount of complex moves you can execute which is great. The control can get a little berserk when scaling walls at a certain angle though. The camera was great and I had no problems with it. Sumetimes u may want to see further ahead but all u need to do is push the first person view button. Another great aspect of the game is the enhanced enemy and Co op AI.The enemies will investigate, call for back up, retreat and even throw grenades at you when ur in a tight spot. At the end when u team up with snake it is incredible. You barely have to do any work yourself because your friend can take care of it.
Now the ugly. The storyline.... It starts out great but then stray over to political philosophical points of life which really makes the characters who support the game, dissolve. Way too complicated. Its a real headscratcher. Also the whole raiden and Rose love theme was wayy too nausiating for my taste. I did not like raiden much at first but he's not so bad, but i still would have liked to play as Snake more. Also I found somethings very obnoxious for a game that strives for realism. This includes Vamp. I also thought that it was not very original how they took many scenarios from the first game and added it in. It just did not feel fresh.
All in all it was a fine game and i highly recommend it.

This game is unbelievable. The gameplay is fantastic, the graphics are amazing, especially for PS2. The story is great and there are inumerable plot twists. The weapons are nice and the new first-person shooting is great. There are so many little extras hidden within the game (some of which are quite hilarious), that you can play it over and over again. I missed snake a bit in the latter half of the game, but it wasnt too bad. Dont worry though, you'll be seeing plenty of him. Dont rent this game, buying it is the only option in this case.

The Metal Gear series... Come a long way hasn't it? from the old 8-bit Metal Gear on the NES and MSX to the master piece Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty on our super technology. MGS2 absolutly rules and puts all the copy cat sneakers to shame, here's why:
Gameplay 10/10:
Once you've learned to press O instead of X and actually pressed New Game without going back to Press Start, the games amazing, sneaking is absolutly amazing, and the choice of weaponry is amazing even though you get the pleasure of playing lady boy Raiden instead of Solid Snake, it's still all the same and is an incredible experiance which will please newbie snakes and old snakes alike.
Graphics 10/10:
Look! Raidens girly hair moves in the wind! And you know that soldier you just shot? His blood is all over the wall now! And know the enemy soldiers are on full alert because they found that body, smart one. Anyway, the graphics are amazing, really, consider when it was released and look at those graphics, on PS2! Excellent!
Sound 10/10:
You can have real surround sound cutscenes, and as well as that everything, the splashes as you fall in the water, the explosions, the gun noises, all of it sound great, even on a 14 inche TV (I should know) really, it's great! Especially the music, the tense music as the guards hunt you down, the heart-beat as you hide in the locker, all of it.
Verdict: Amazing game, trust me. Beats Splinter Cell by a mile.

This has to be by far the best damn game i've ever played in my life and i've played alot of games. I thought metal gear on ps1 was awesome but after playing Sons of Liberty my thoughts changed. The story line alone is the best. this game allows you to complete a good action filled game and at the same time watch a movie right in front of your eyes. I think it really did go with the orginal. most sequels of games and movies or horrible but with Sons of liberty it goes right on the point. I havent yet played Substance nor enter the Matrix so until then BEST DAMN GAME EVER.

I think that this game is the best that i have ever played. All the characters have good interesting backgrounds and i found my self obsesed with playing the game. I am 15 years old and I don't think that i have ever played on such an interesting game. When I first began to play on it i found that i did not know what to do and i struggled to complete it in one go but as i learnt more about what i had to do i breazed through it. I like the way that if it's your first time that you have played on it you go straight onto the plant eppisode and "pliskin" is saying that snake sunk that tanker. But what you don't know at the time is that pliskin is acctually snake. This fits in well when you play on the tanker eppisode and you find out what really happend. I must say that i thourouly enjoyed playing on the game but the only bad point is that there is about the same amount of playing time as there is watching time. Other than that I loved the game and can not wait to get stuck into "metal gear solid 3 SNAKE EATER".

This game is one of the best undercover games I ever played. Snake is way cooler than James Bond. After playing the first Metal Gear Solid, I quite James Bond games immediatly. The graphics on MGS2 are simply amazing. The storyline is very interesting. I wonder how anybody could have the creativeness to come up with it. This game is so suspenseful, you never know whats gonna happen, and you never know the good guys and bad guys till the end, and some you never figure out. The voices were also the same as the first one, thats a major accomplishment. Raiden wasn't really that bad, I think people just like to find something to complain about on everything. The gameplay was really good, being able to sneak around, and if you need it, you got a radar. If your really good like me you won't need one lol. The controls were simple, took me less than 5 min to master. Being able to drag around the dead bodies was kinda fun also. This game had alot of fun stuff to do. Like looking at posters, playing with the projector that the marines are watching, having somebody pee on your head, listening to Snake thinking about asking Emma out, and even listening to a guy in the bathroom. The creators of this game had big since of humor, and I think this game took alot of effort to develope. I'd give the game an 12 if I could.

Metal gear is alittle bit short on snakes time. so i like to sit tthere and kill anyone i see and then i'll finish the level. ok raiden just shows up from no where. He is nothing like snake but there are a few funny parts playing with raiden. like getting peed on talk to snake when u do and cornel. i noticed a glitch in the game. after the bomb dude dies talk to him on codac right after he dies and he will talk to u. Ok with a rap up this game rocks all game play and way better that the first...

I was very excited when I heard MGS:Sons of Liberty was coming. But got very dissapoined when Snake was not the one you control for most of the game. I mean why that pretty boy sissy Raiden, when you could play as Badass dude and I can kill you with my little finger Solid Snake!!! I could have given it a 10 if only I wasn't irritated by Raiden's Helium voice when he talks at some point. But its a great game if you want to watch than play that is. Don't get me wrong its a fun game with all those secrets and funny occasions. I hope MGS 3 will let you play as Solid Snake again...

My friend brought this game over to my house once, and i played it for 5 hours straight! That's how good this game is. The graphics are some of the best i hav ever seen and so is the sound. The controls are simple to use and simple to master. I don't understand why people don't like raiden. I think he is just as good as solid snake. the only flaw in this game is the long talking FMV secuences. I fell ASLEEP during one of them it was so long. All-in-all, I personally liked "Splinter Cell" better but this game easily competes with it.

The combination of story & action play is beyond parallel. Not only do you get an unbeatable playing game, but you damn near get a feature length movie too. The sound acting is superb with terrific direction and heart pounding slow motion action scenes. Also, wonderfully gory graphics are thrown in the mix. For enjoyment that up to now is unsurpassed, you cannot find a better game than this one. Although, Enter the Matrix comes close. My family and I are eagerly and suspensefully awaiting the next Metal Gear installment. DO NOT MISS what is unarguably the best game in the market. ENJOY!!!
