THIS REALLY IS WHERE IT IS AT!5068

Arend D. Hart, Chief Reviewer, StationPlay/ConsoleMonkey from Michigan says (2/Jan/2002):
I was never a fan of the original Grand Theft Auto games. Although the premise was intriguing to say the least, the very distant birds-eye perspective was not my cup of tea. I was more of a Driver sorta guy.

When Driver 2 was finally released, we all flocked to get it. For the first time, Tanner (Driver’s hero) could get out of the car, steal other cars, etc… The stuff that made people liked the first two GTA titles (except for the blatant carnage). But Driver 2, even with the improvements, was not all that it was cracked up to be. The car physics were still great, as was the replay feature and the cut scenes, and with roads that actually curved, it was a step up from the previous title. But, with horrible graphical popup and freezing plaguing the gameplay, Driver 2 kinda fizzled out.

So, I was surprised to hear that GTA3 was going for the 3D perspective. And you know what, they do it well.

First off, let me say that I was pretty disappointed when I put this game in the machine. I wanted those Driver-type big squishy muscle car physics with the Starsky-and-Hutch visuals and music. GTA3 is no Driver, and although the physics leave a little to be desired (you don’t feel totally immersed in the driving aspect – somewhat like the Dukes of Hazzard series’ driving physics) it’s a hell of a lot better than Driver ever was. It took me a day to figure that out, but now I’m a GTA3 junkie..

It’s hard to describe a game like this. It’s a great blend of a lot of gaming genres. Obviously, you have the Driver-like behind-the-wheel antics mixed with Carmageddon splatter with a dash of Shenmue. It’s truly a work of art, and you’ll quickly get caught up in its world.

There are almost 100 missions throughout the game ranging from setting up car bomb attacks to delivering prostitutes to winning street races and everything in between. Pedestrians are free to be killed by a number of methods including clubbing, shooting and being squashed by vehicles. No more magic Driver pedestrian escapes (like the people in Cuba who disappear into building walls), in GTA3, they’re history.

My only complaints right now, since I haven’t finished the game yet, have to do with the carnage. While it was funny in the beginning, it gets to where you can’t make a turn without killing somebody or a group of people. I’m not grossed out by it or anything, it just gets a little ridiculous at times. Also particularly annoying is that you can smear a group of people and the cops don’t even bat an eye. I like things a little more realistic. But, that’s just personal opinion and even so, it doesn’t cloud the fact that this is truly an incredible game. And given that I haven’t even touched on all of the facets of this game myself, it may get more realistic as I go on.

Thank you to Rockstar for a great experience. And Tanner, if you’re reading this, you’ve got some serious competition on the streets, you sissy!

A better game that GTA 3?7694

Ry-Daaawg from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Earth, the Universe, etc says (8/Jun/2002):
All my life, I have been saying to myself, "You know, I would love to just sit back, kick off my shoes, and play a nice little video game that satisfies my fuel-driven, whore-pickin'up, ganster-style bloodlust." Apparently, the good folks at Rockstar got all my letters, because GTA 3 is it. I have the PC version, and while I despise posting reviews on website boards that are more than likely patronized by 12-year-olds, high-school dropouts, and the unemployable, I had to vent my overwhelming joy somewhere, and my girlfriend is sick of hearing about it. This game makes the best use of an Nvidia G-Force card I have seen yet. Running on an Athlon 1.2 and an Nvidia G-force 2 MX 400 (around the same as an X-box...maybe a couple steps higher), there is no lagging, no stops, and there are very few glitches. In a side-by-side with PS2, I have to say that the PC version, while maybe just a hair less smooth, is the superios version, with crisper graphics, faster load time, and (with a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad) a better control interface. (The Wingman just has more buttons). However, with all the technical stats being what they are, they pale in comparison to the storyline. So often, I (and I'm sure you have, too) have plunked down upwards of $80 of the rent money to buy a game because the graphics looked cool, only to get home and be sorrowfully disappointed by the dismal storyline, with voice acting that seems to come straight out of a high-school play. But it is obvious that Rockstar must have sold a copy or two of their previous games, because they now have the budget to hire some kickass writers, and the actors to go with it. Joe pantoliano? Michael Madsen? Hell, I'd have bought this game if it were the graphical equivalent of Pong! How often do yuo get to play along with the guys from Reservoir Dogs and the Matrix? In fact, I think I only have 2 complaints, and they are so minor that they do not deter me from the 10 rating I gave it: 1) All the characters look like they're wearing mittens (except when you give the finger to some smartmouth as you steal their car), and 2) The damage engine. Ya, OK, the cars get damaged, which is pretty sweet, but I don't think your hood would get completely dented and warped from driving into a rubber pylon at 3 MPH. But these things are so minor, and the damage quip is pointless as the cars getting smashed up is integral to the gameplay, that GTA 3 still earns a place with Max Payne, Jedi Outcast, Unreal Tournament, and Spider Man-The Movie as one of my top 5 best games ever made, if not THE best. (Granted, I still have to try Medal of Honour: Allied assault, but for now, that's my list.) Just keep the kiddies away from it.

GTA3 is definitly what gamers wanted for years7656

Dom from USA says (5/Jun/2002):
GTA3 is not only my favorite game of all time, Its the GREATEST game of all time. When you first play GTA3 you are going to go on a ride that you have never been on before. Graphics: The graphics in this game are great. The characters and cars look and move great and when the car gets damage too. The lighting effect were done very, very good. The three cities are enormous, different and full of life. The weather and days change from Rain, fog, sunny and dark. Sound: The sound effects and voice acting is the one of the best in any game I have ever played. First off the voice acting was done the best in any game their was. Their voiced by some of the biggest names in Mafia films and some of pop culture's most distinct voices like Joey Pantoliano, Frank Vincent, Micheal Madsen, Micheal Rapaport and Guru. Their are 9 differnt radio stations. You can switch to anyone you want at any time by pressing L1. They were done really well. The people on the streets are lively and they talk to each other. They scream and yell if they witness a death. The cars sound good and when they explode. The sound effects were done really good. Gameplay: This game is one of the funnest and violent games that you will ever play in your whole life. The levels are all different and are balenced out very nicely. The controls were done nicely. Its easy to walk around and drive to places. Their are so many other things you can do in this game that I havn't mentioned. If I told you It would take me a week. This game is unbelievable. Value: This game will be one of the longest game you have ever played if you are a true hardcore gamer that likes to beat games 100%. I bought this game when it first came out and I havn't even beaten the game half way. I play it for like 10 hours everyday and I havn't beaten it 50%. But the other reason why its taking me a long time to beat the game is because instead of playin the game by doing its mission, I like to have fun instead, if you know what I mean. Their are alot of differnt side missions and other goodies in this game. Rockstar and DMA packed everything into GTA3. You can really tell that they took their time and did'nt rush. Tilt: GTA3 will last you a lifetime. This game is packed with action and mayham, its great. There has never been a game like this before. The only game that could ever beat this game is Grand Theft Auto 4. Just pray that they make it. And one last thing, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, especially for little kids.

Breaks milestones, but has a nasty flaw15154

!!!All knowing gaming prophet!!! from US VA says (10/Jan/2003):
This is a fun game... untill the lack of realism and energy kick in. Then it's boring. Why does our man never speak? He just sort of nods when recieving a mission. Maybe his head was hit in the beginning curtscene at the explosion on the bridge??? The stuff you can do in this game is wonderful but after awhile I just had to ask myself why the hell I wanted to blow up a freighter full of "SPANK" (a drug). The driving force in this game is simply it's "cool factor;" the instint gratification of hijacking a car and assasinating mob bosses. For me the cool factor lasts about 20min and then it's no longer funny or exciting.

UNREAL had soul, DOOM had soul, HALF LIFE had soul! Deus Ex is my favorite game because like GTA 3 it has elements of every gaming genra, but it's also got a truly compelling storyline, good enough to make a novel out of.

In UNREAL not a single word is spoken, instead players read countless messages left by dead people who also attempted to escape the planet. The beauty of the planet and messages gave that game soul and made me really want to rip the guts out of the alien populus. Every enemy that hit the dust gave me some serious gratification. I can't say that about GTA3 because I really don't care what the hell happens to the guy with the bad hair who the players control. In the end GTA3 is another game falling victim to the idea that if you make a game with best and brightest of a bunch of things like AI and graphics and physics algorithms that everyone will declare it a groundbreaker and buy it. The eye candy does'nt matter if the game isi'nt inspired. Tetris is still a fun game, and quite the opposite of GTA3. Tetris has almost no cool factor, it's really boaring at first, but the more it's played the more fun it is. Games like Deus Ex that are really appetising and have soul and are inspired will be fun.

MILESTONES DON'T MAKE A GAME FUN!

This was the best game when it came out, and is still one of the best9927

Cody from Liberty City, USA says (29/Sep/2002):
What can I say about this game? It's pretty perfect, if you don't mind killing a bunch of innocent(or at least at the time) pedestrians. You get to drive around in cool cars, pack some serious heat, and rub elbows with the organized crime. The graphics are amazing, and it has a great storyline you can follow. You go around taking jobs from all the big names in the game, traveling across three huge, detailed cities to do it. If you're fast enough to evade local law, you can try a killing spree to get rid of all of those pent up feelings inside. Why not entertain the whole family by picking up a hooker or listening to one of the many hilarious radio stations you can pick up. If you got the code, or are suicidal, you could try to get a tank and have even more fun, if the arsenal you carry doesn't settle your thirst for blood. You can even find a plane in the last city, even though it won't fly that high or that long with clipped wings. If you are really stuck at a job, dodging the fuzz, and putting people under, why not find the 100 hidden packages scattered across Liberty City to pick up new weapons at your hideout? Or steal a cop car, taxi, ambulance, or even a firetruck to try and repair the damage you've done here by helping some people, maybe even running over citizens on the sidewalk while helping that one guy. There's so much stuff to do that you might not ever get bored. You could just go about collecting the best cars and hiding them in the garages in your hideouts for safekeeping, or the big garages in the cities where you can park a dozen or so cars to get whenever you want(refering to import-export garages and that huge crane at Portland Harbor). In short, if you want to do some dirty killings with the mobs of the city and do drive-bys with the local gangstas and pick up the hoes and do some car-jackings on the side then you'll love this game.

Kill or be killed8111

Jesse from Texas, USA says (27/Jun/2002):
Rockstar has done it again, this time with the most explosive controversy game ever! Grand Theft Auto III, what a game! To kill the cops, to kill old ladies, to just kill anyone who gets in your way, is a serial killer's dream come true. Of course in real life if your caught that's the end, but in the gaming world you can do all this and more. First of all, graphics are amazing with very little pausing, to the cars and the people...and the PS2 hardware can take all the people, cars, fights, explosions (what a great system). The sound is great, especially if you have a surround sound system, exceptional! The replay value is great! I mean, yeah you finish the game 100% and your god, but you can always go back kill, maim, kill, torture, and just kill some more. The game isn't so story based, well in other words, you can do all other sorts of stuff instead of the main mission, and that has a fun factor to it. I have seen and heard different aspects of this game, from it sucks because you can't go in buildings, to the moral of the game. First of all, the building thing, well besides that you can do just about everything you want, anything you want. Second on the morale, people we live in a real life Liberty City, that is our life, maybe not to the extreme of killing everyone in sight, but that is life and that is why Rockstar has a rating of M for MATURE, if you are too sensitive to violence, killing, and disorderly conduct...don't rent or purchase the game, easy as that! Other than that, Grand Theft Auto III is a killer game, with killer graphics and sound. You need to have the killer instinct to play this game, and "boys and girls, that is one thing I am good at"...Sweet Tooth...Twisted Metal Black! Rockstar, no matter what, will always have Grand Theft Auto III in their name, and PS2 would always have been the hardware to represent it. Hell yeah!

The best game on Earth!6764

Matthew from England says (4/Apr/2002):
This game is stunning! The graphics and game-play are what dreams are made of. Lets face it in how many game do you have to kill, maim and steal your way up the criminal ladder. Not many! Youn start in Portland. This is the industrial zone. Here you will find the docks, the red light district, ware houses, factories, markets, garages, as well as some useful suppliers. These are Luigi, Joey, El Burro, Marty Chonks, Toniand the Don, Salvatore Leonne. These jobs are mostly easy and low paying but when you work for Salvatore it gets harder but the money is much higher. In Portland there are three main gangs - the Mafia, Triads and the Diablos. You work for the Mafia and Diablos. Portland is full of pimps, hookers, labourers, dock workers and general scum. You have worked for everybody and are betrayed and wanted of the cops. You have to get out so where do you go Staunton Island . Staunton Island is the central buisiness district. You work for Asuka, Kenji, Ray, Donald Love and King Courtney. A chance to earn some serious money but the jobs get a lot harder than the previous island. To make things worse there is some more gangs waiting for you. They are the Yardies, Yakuza and Columbian Cartel. You have worked for everyone but three of the employer want you to stay on- the other one is dead. Get your butt to Shoreside Vale. This is where the rich people live but is where the hardest missions take place. You are still working for Asuka, Ray and Donald Love. The money is great and Ice-d want a word on the phones in Wichita Gardens. Where is it going to all end? The is a variety of Transport and Weapons waiting for you but do you feel lucky punk, well do you?

Great Game! Slightly Better than VC!38922

Gangstarr from Liberty City, USA says (9/Feb/2004):
GTA 3 is brilliant! It has inspired a new generation of gameing, it is amazing, and as for the people who game the game anything less than 9, then, politly as possible so the review gets published, GET A LIFE! This is a huge, brilliant game! Three islands, a great plot, loads of real gangs, the cars!!! It's amazing! Here's the great stuff:

Gameplay 10/10:

Brilliant, you can do the story line and unlock the islands, or kill everyone and blow up the Triad Fish Vans, or look for the secret packages, or anything really. It's a great game to play, really.

Lifespan 10/10:

Complete the story, try to find all the packages, then you can still do the Taxi driver and Vigilante stuff, and even then you can just explore the streets of Liberty, or try to get the damn clipped wing plane over the river from the airport. It'll last as long as the PS2 lasts you, honestly.

Graphics: 7/10:

Not very good are they... Oh dear... The main character looks solid and well animated and people on the streets look ok, but no fingers? Why? Buildings look good and the cars are... Ok... But still, who cares about graphics? As long as they are recognisable and you cant see the little squares and stuff its ok. And they are quite good considering the time.

Sound 10/10:

Ah! Great sound! The voice acting is really very good! And people on the street swear at each other! The even swear at you for bumping into them! And the radio!!! The radio!!! Game radio, Rise fm, MSX!!! The best music on a video game ever! Take that 80's VC!

All in All: Brilliant, if you've got a PS2 and not this... What were you thinking!!! Get off the computer!!! Get it now!!!

Amazing game, only 1 problem.33233

J.I.B. from Pinckneyville, IL, USA says (11/Oct/2003):
I give alot of games a 9 or 10. This one has all the things in it to be a 9 or 10, but I have to give it an 8. The gameplay was FUN. I loved doing all this stuff, running around, blowing up stuff, ect. I think this game is great. The graphics were average. All the different gangs, and the Mafia,(my favorite) made this game really exciting. I liked how you made certain gangs mad, and how they tried to kill you later on. This game is amazing, its like doing all the stuff that you can't get away with in real life, and to all the people who say stuff about how people shouldn't play this game, you need to back off a little. I mean this game has alot of bad stuff on it, but if you don't want your son or daughter playing it, then don't let them buy it. Don't try to get other people to stop, as long as you know the difference between real life and game its ok, and before you get mad at this, think. "Did I teach my kids reality from fiction, did I teach them right and wrong." This game is a bad influence, but as long as you did your job as a parent, then think about it, are your kids gonna go crazy and shoot somebody. This game is good in grahics, sound, ect., but it has one thing that made me lower it by 2 stars, the bug in the game, after I parked the FBI car in the garage it messed my game up completely, and now I can't even play for more than 5 min without a freeze up, and thats if it don't freeze after the opening story.

The Worlds BEST EVER GAME!!!!!25907

Richard from Caernafon, Wales says (21/Jun/2003):
Grand theft auto MUST be one of the best ever game on the globe, for starters it has excellent graphics, they are really, really realistic.
There are funny things in Grand Theft auto, like some of the characters, for example the old grandma walking the streets carrying the shopping, and have you seen her in a Mannana, she can barely look out of the window!.
Its heaps better than Driver2, which I previously owned, the graphics and cars were absoloutely rubbish, But Grand Theft Auto 3 was a whole new thing, you can handbreak turn cars round corners which you would probably get stopped for in real life, thats the other good thing About Grand theft auto 3 you can do things which are practically impossible in real life.
The missions have had great thought put into them, and Sayanora Salvator has a funny joke!,i like the missions on the basis that every mission is linked with each other, and that your almost working for somebody different every mission
But don't rush through this game, take your time an it could last you a very long time, have fun with the game explore every island, you might find more islands with the Seaplane, but i'm not going to tell you how HA HA HA!

I think that Grand Theft Auto is miles better than Vice city, in the fact that its in the present time not past.Except that you can buy places and get money out of them.

out of a scale of ten on fun of the game I would give the game 12!!!

Get ready Liberty City!!!!!!7234

Tom from Sheffield, England says (6/May/2002):
This game has it all, literally. The originality of Grand theft auto 3 can not be described. With its indepth scenery, and missions you'll find yourself playing this game over and over again. What with its 3 intense levels that span accross the bizarre suburbal area, rich CBD and even richer outer suburbs. The levels all flow together nicely as you, (a disrespectful member of authority to say the least), battle your way past crime and betrayal. You start as a dogsbody, doing meaningless 'pick-ups' and 'bump-offs,' for the lower gangsters. But as the game progresses you become recognised all over town as an up-and-coming villian who is willing to put his life on the line for unearthly causes. Why is grand theft auto 3 one of the biggest world wide success stories of all time?? It's simple. This game gives the player a chance to do all those things that are barred by society. Good children can go home from school and suddenly turn into ruthless killers and massacreists. This outright disrespectful attitude is what, lets be honest, everyone wants at some stage in their early development. GTA 3 therefore is allowing us to legally achieve some of these aims. The vast stretch of unlawful acts range fromm beating up old ladies with baseball bats to taking on the army with a full arsenal of armoury at your disposal. It is, by far, the best game I have had the joy of playing.

steve from wales anglesey says (14/Mar/2002):

addictive and amazing6336

patrick from virgina williamsburg says (1/May/2003):
I bought this game and can't stop playing. it is more addictive than smoking. you can do basically anything and one thing that truly amazed me was that you can save after beating it! every time it's something new i've played vice city also and wrote a reveiw for that game as well. but this one has to come close to it. you can kill, rob, and just cause trouble. and it is a great stress releaver. it has great cheats and many different kinds of cars and people. you work for the mob, the yakuza, yardees, and the diablos. you wind up double crossing them all except the yakuza. the story line was great with many different surprizes and you won't beleve what this guy does to stay alive! all in all it is a great game except the cops, they are really annoying but, you can get rid of them with the gameshark.the grphics are great and you can even select the radio in the car! the charechters respond to your actions and if you go into enemy terretorry they shoot you. there is a very wide array of weapons to select from the gore is high and there is even a cheat that increces the gore. when you fall in water you instantly die and if one person falls in the water and dies a lot of other people come over to see and they die too. so the CPUs are pretty dumb. only one thing left to say...definately keep away from little kids!

This Game....6580

Josh H. from EDH, CA, USA says (25/Mar/2002):
When I first heard about this game, I told myself that it was going to be to fun. I rarely buy a game without either renting or playing it before deciding to buy it. This was different, from the onset of playing it, just seeing the people walking down the streets, people talking and reacting, and hearing ambiences, they just made me crazy and all tingly. The craziest things would happen while playing, seeing a mugging in process, a mini or large scale gang war, or the paramedics singing songs that you could listen to while driving around. Oh, and that brings up the fact that are like 8 different music stations to meet your music fixes (It was cool hearing the songs from Scarface while pulling drivebys). The missions were entertaining and rarely boring (although some of the were hard, but I like how none of the later missions were easy as the first). I'm still occasionaly pop this game in and play it. Now, for a couple of "hiccups". First, the graphics of the actual people weren't that great, but they sufficed. Second, they had a couple of pop up problems that occured. But these in no way hinder the over greatness of this game. If you don't have this game, go out and buy it! You'll be surprised by how many things you can do. (I still haven't figured out how to fly) Enjoy!

I'm only giving it a 2 instead of a 1 because it did change GTA36872

Super Gaijin from Charlottetown, PEI says (12/Dec/2003):
It's still a bad game, though. It's fun for the first little while, and then you realize just how limited you are. The city feels a little small and the missions are repetitive. There's no shooting out tires and so therefore 60% of the getaway strategy (or 90% of the fun factor) is taken away. It also gets rid of a lot of drama in the chases and firefights.

When you're flying 90 mph down a straight road and the cops blow out your tires with a spike strip, suddenly slowing you down to almost a crippled speed. You have to suddenly maneuver the vehicle with much more care, sometimes having to simply bail out and cut your losses, or do the same to the cops. Shoot out their tires and try for the getaway. See, these things can cause sudden swings in momentum for either side and can also level the playing field.

Also, there's no motorcycles in GTA 3 so that put it down the drain for me. There's nothing more fun to escape the FBI with than a dirtbike and some narrow alleyways, sharp turns, and sudden breaks in separators along the wider roads.

All there is to get away in in GTA3 is the cop car basically, most of the other vehicles are too slow or have poor handling.

Vice City is a million times better, just skip over 3 and go on over to VC.

Michael Gregg from Juneau Alaska gos to school Floyd Dryden23255

Michael Gregg from juneau alaska united states says (11/May/2003):
this game is the 2nd best game anyone could ever make. vice city is the bomb! GTA 3 has some better stuff then vice city though. vice city doesnt have mafias. GTA 3, has mafias all around. If you kill just one, they will be chaseing you in either a vheicle, or on the streets trying to shoot you. And vice city has gay clothes. If you don't have neither one of these games, THEN YOU ARE WASTING YOUR LIFE! THESE GAMES ARE THE BEST ANY ONE COULD EVER BYE! the graphics are ausome, the people are ausome, and the whole game looks realistic! But you should always look out for triods in Portland. If you just see one, don't even bother to even punch him, or else all of them will be chasing you with either a bat or a gun. Lets hope its a bat, or else you will be dead before you know it. and if you so much as point a gun at cop, then you already have two stars. But thats the best way you should start out if you wanna get all six stars, which is probably the hardest thing to do. But thats the only way to get a tank unless you use the cheat. But I don't use cheats until I'm finished with the game. otherwise iyt just makes the game too easy. Well, there is just one more thing I have to say. THANKS ROCK STAR, THIS IS THE BEST GAME YOU EVER MADE!!!!!!!!

Everything You Would Want.17698

Eric from Cottage Grove, Minnesota says (17/Feb/2003):
Grand Theft Auto 3 is quite an exciting game. It provides all the fun you can think of that you would want in a true video game: Shooting, Stealing, Killing, Fast-pace Car Racing, Explosions, Etc. This game is based on real life which is maybe why it is so popular. Although there are non-believable feats like crashing into people and killing some while not getting into any cop trouble. Also with some minor glitch problems that i have run into once and awhile. The game is overall enjoyable with 73 challenging at first missions involving mob shootings, delivering prostitutes, and other objectives. It has a wide arrange of cars with even boats, subway, and a train to take. The radio provides a real-life experience adding to the night/day concept making it even more real. This game in other words is like taking your dream of being a crook and mobster and bringing them to life. Watch out tho, the star-level at the top of your screen will tell how wanted you are to the cops, ranging from one-star; police car: two-stars; more police cars: three-stars; helicopter: four-stars; swat team: five-stars; FBI agents: and finally six stars with the entire army after you. In conclusion-This is a worth-while game to buy, trust me.

amazing just plain amazing!!!5798

Chris Heckford from Nottingham ( England ) says (16/Feb/2002):
My view on grand theft auto 3 is an overall good but there are a few aspects of the game that could be improved. When I first set eyes on grand theft auto 3 I fell in love with it, because I have had the previous gta 1 and gta 2.The previous two have been in 2D but gta 3 was in 3D which was much better.I think it should have been alot longer then it is but never the less this game is a must have. The graphics are unbelieveable especially the all time weather effects. The car's almost look real as do the crash effects, but there is still something about it that makes it just not real. The sound is ok but there is room for improvement. The car's engine noise doesnt sound real it could do with some more pronounced gear changes. The radio stations a brilliant especially chatterbox that is such a laugh. In my view the gameplay is good. The cars handling is realistic and the peoples movement in the game are brilliant. The lifespan of the game is ok but it could do with being a bit longer in my view.I dont think this game is original because there have been two others out before it.This is a game I would recommened, a definate buy!

If you think this game is bad or has no replayability you have serious problems8379

John from Minneapolis, USA says (11/Jul/2002):
This is the greatest game ever made. No doubt nothing even comes close to it. The game has hundreds and hundreds of hours of playability in it and just the sheer thought of going around killing people and stealing cars and picking up some white trash girls and getting a little someting something is just a great idea. This game has it's own genre, and i am hoping for more. This is the kind of game that will evolve games that will basically give you a city and you do whatever you want to do. Be a drug dealer, a hit man, a mafia boss, the gang leader and so on. This game is probally the biggest games ever to be made. After beating the game i still go back and play the whole game over again because it is just so much fun. i owned and played GTA and GTA 2 and this beats them without question. Since Playstation 2 will soon be getting an online adapter i feel kiddy that the next GTA will be implementing some kind of multiplayer in the future. When (and i no doubtingly think there wont be) GTA4 comes out with the online play attached it will break another milestone. THis game is the greatest game ever made and a huge revulutionary step in the progress of crime in games.
