One of the Greatest Action Games Ever! |

Devil May Cry is one of the most stylish, exciting action games ever produced, and if you've never played it, then do yourself a favor and pick it up. I played it way back in 2002 and loved it, but I decided to pick it up and play it again just recently, and it's amazing how this game never gets old. Dante, the main character, is one bad mofo who uses double-fisted pistols and swords to best his enemies. The blend of ranged attacks with guns and up-close melee combat with swords is the perfect combination for a stellar action game. Once you start playing, you'll be hooked. You can buy new moves and combos for Dante, so it also has some RPG elements thrown in, which just makes it that much more addictive. If you're looking for a great PS2 game then look no further, but be sure to get the first game, not DMC 2, because that was the biggest let down of a game ever. Just give it a try. You'll love it.

Capcom's "Devil May Cry" has been unleashed to the world, and it should be hailed as a masterpiece of action, gothicness and pure entertainment. The graphics are breathtaking for the environments and the detail to the characters is superb, not forgetting the unbelieveable special effects. That's not all, the action itself allows you to slay enemies with STYLE, combining awesome sword and gun combos. Dante is excellently characterized, a character who should be labelled as one of PS2's greatest. If you want good music, "Devil May Cry" includes proper emotional manipulation with its soundtrack and the sound effects couldn't get anymore realistic.
The difficulty is challenging enough for lots of attempts, but I feel that the game is a little bit short once everything is mastered. This game deserves a perfect ten because all of the gaming fundamentals have kept me engaged to the action, plus the storyline should be credited.
"Devil May Cry" is undeniably a game that should be held with high respect.

I never liked this game untill someone told me to try it out and i did than i knew it was a great game that game is pretty hard but its worth to try it out even buying it!!! this game was hard specially mission 20 that is hard but was FUN killing those monsters!!!! hope you will enjoy this game the first time you play it it will kinda sux but wgen you get use to it it is acually fun sometimes its even addictive and makes you play even more and more its worth buying!!!!!!!

It's a very cool game,& like like most cool games it gives you a laugh every once in a while! I like the 2 differnt ending & 2nd play though! ENDINGS: If you get all of the guns you escape with an airplane. If you miss any guns then you use a moter boat to escape! FUNNY PARTS: When Dontae blows the phantom a kiss! When Mundus says he'll return Dontae says to give his regaurds to his son!(Sparda probley told him the same thing) COOL PARTS:(Mostley the cut seens) Trish tries to follow Dontae he raises his gun up and say "Don't come any closer you devil" When Dontae walks up to Mundus and says "Strange I should have to face another Sparda" the Dontae says "Yes strange & ironic that it should end the same way" I'm done!

This game is a must for any ps2 owner.
Firstly the graphics are amasing, easily as good as FFX, It really shows you that PS2 is still capable of brilliant graphics, theres not a single slowdown in the game. gameplay is fast paced action and puzzles.
YOu start out on a stranded island and go inside this HUGE gothic, demon infested castle. Also you go many other places including, lush courtyards, misty woods, A sunken pirate ship, underwater, Sewers, caves and many other places
The Demons are trully cool and unique and the voice acting is perfect. Although this game is short its not TOO short and onces you finish it theres tones of modes and goodies to unlock too.
The characters/creatures/levels and whole look of this game is awesome truly a fun exerience playing this game.
GO OUT A BUY IT it's PLATINUM and half priced.
I heard that the 2nd one wasn't as good. I wonder if its worth getting?

This game is one of the most enjoyable games out there. First off, you play as Dante, the son of the RULER OF HELL!!! You are half demon and half man. Then a once ruler of hell demon returns to life,and you must stop him.AWESOME GRAPHIS, turn into devils, UNLIMITED AMMO, and 23 levels of nonstop MAYHEM!!!! It's $20 bucks, BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok this is a must hav game. seriously. i bought devil may cry 2 before buyin this game cause it was always sold out for so reason. i was amazed wen i played dmc 2 but wen i bought dmc finally my mind about dmc 2 changed. dmc was much better. i didnt get that tragic and fun from dmc 2. any ways for graphics i giv 9/10. gameplay 9/10. story 7/10. sound 10/10. and it was too short. i beat this game in 3 hours in normal. dante must die was like imposible. super dante mode was nice.
the hel r doing!? get 40-50 $$$ and buy this game now. hav fun

WOW!! This game rocks. I like the idea of you turning into soe beast and slashing and gashing at those poor puppets. I like the whole hand gun Idea too. How you can jump into the air and poor down bullets at enemies. I love it! Story was kinda weak and the game could have been longer. And that voice from the spider boss...oh man do I love that voice. nothing is more evil.

Ok i would like to start off by saying i dont think i have ever played a better game than devil may cry. I mean the graphics are solid smooth and the sound effects are spectacular. But dispite all those things i think the game should have lasted a bit longer
I mean i was up all night with my best friend and we finished it. So that was a bit weak. It also dries me crazy how hard it is to beat in dante must die mode. It just keeps getting harder.
but still im am very impressed. The characters are really kick ass too. Dante is really laid back and ready to take on anything mundus throws his way. I can get impailed by Alyster or stabbed by trish and not even raise an eyebrough. Wich brigs me to my next point. Trish is totaly hot. even though she does not have a devil trgger she can still do some pretty kick ass stuff. The weapons were sweet too. i really like the way that you can shoot flat out with ebony and ivory, in some games no matter how fast you push the button the bullets still come out of the gun really slowly. The nightmare beta was a bit strange. Seriously if this game could go for londer i bet i would stay up for weeks playen it.

Only a word: AMAZING!!!! What can I tell you? This game is one of the coolest I've ever played! Point one: Graphics. 10. From the first scene of the castle to the last battle aainst The devil. Really really cool. Point two: Sound. 9/10. The sound is really great, it changes when you're fighting against demons in heavy, and when you're walking in the corridors of the many dungeons you're going to hear Dante's feet. Point three: Fighting. 9. The only bad thing here is that Dante has a few weapons, and one of those (Sparda) can be used in its true power only in the final battle. The rest is ok, you can defeat any monster with a lot of combos. Point four: Gameplay. 8. Only sometimes the camera give you some problems, and about dante's special moves you may need a little for learn'em all. Point five: Lifespan. 7. Yes, the game is very very short... And you can play it only few times, then you'll get bored 'cause the missions are always the same. But after all, this is a very good game. BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!

i only wish that the scale went up higher i believe that this game is one of the coolest games of all time mostly because of the main charcter dante he is so cool under pressure and danger nothing scares the guy. the game play was i believe unparalled graphics were one of the best i've seen on a game yet. the sound while fighting also was awsome the electronica sound gives a much needed break from the gothic demonic sounds which i also believed was awesome. the game play was a bit short but the levels of hardness makes up for that, easy, hard legendary dark night, dante must die, and super dante. the storyline is movie quality a half man half demon seperated from his father takes up the family business,(demon slaying) and has to pull the same stuff his dad did to save humans again. wide array of worlds in the game also give the game a suprise every time you beat a world. all throughout the game enemies are seeing dante and realizing that he is the son of sparda. the weapons also offer a wide array of ways to kill your enemy by a shot with dual postols (ebony and ivory) a shotgun a grenade laungher or a magical laser type gun. you can use swords too demon slayer, alasor and sparda. or punch with fiery fists (ifris). all in all this is a game that everyone who owns a playstation 2 or knows some one who does should play at least once

OMG this game kicked SOOOO much ass!!! i absolutely loved it to death...lol... but seriously, the graphics are GREAT, the storyline is VERY intriguing and original, and the gothic creepy beats are sweet and go right with the game. Not to mention Dante is totally awesome, and very scrumptious!! haha! the only thing i regretted was that it ended so soon! that is the only bad thing about the game is that it was a bit too easy, and definately not long enough. (HEY! HOW ABOUT A SEQUEL...hint hint...)but i have to say i enjoyed beating every boss and every creature the first time, because you know how frustrating it gets when you lose to a hard boss over and over and over and over until you think you will just die...(a.k.a. any Final Fantasy- which also kicks a lot of ass but is MUCH harder- that gives you an idea of how easy this game is, considering FF games arent quite THAT hard). but definately DO NOT hesitate to buy this game, you will thouroughly enjoy using Dante's Devil Triggers and KICKING some DEAMON BUTT. ENJOY!!!!

If there is one thing missing from video games, it is style, and a smooth sense of downright coolness. Well, I am here to tell you it is not missing anymore, Devil May Cry has just shattered all previous barriers and released a truly groundbreaking and innovative game. First off, Dante just might outrank Solid Snake in the video-game badass section, his attacks that simply molest the baddies in the game are so cool, it actually hurts to watch them. His sword has a blurring effect on the background as it decimates your foes, and it just oozes style, as does most everything else.
The (mainly) organ music is very appropriate for the dark style of the game, and the choir creates a very haunting experience. The graphics are amazing, it makes the line between movies and games even thinner, I guarantee you will love every minute of your demon bashing adventure. This game is also very action-oriented, and is a very welcome break from the survival horror-ness of Resident Evil. Jumping off walls is also a very welcome feature, and I often found myself taking a break from the game and jumping as high as I could, to try to reach some of the many hidden items that are generously scattered about, and unlike many other games, they all are usefull and have their own unique purpose. Also, as you do moves it will rank them in a sidebar, from "dull," to "stylish," and will reward you with items for getting higher ranks on moves that you can then use to purchase weapon upgrades. This has potential to be very obtrusive and annoying, especially if it flashed in the middle of the screen, obstructing your view of the battle going on, but it doesn't, remaining relatively out of the way and hidden in a corner, you can see it put it doesn't shove it in your face. Some people may not like the camera, but I do, it follows you well, titing and waving very "stylishly," but never so much that it makes you nauseated.I wish I had some negative commments to make to balnace the review out but I don't, and overall, it is an amazing game, easily the best action game on the PS2, and a must have for every collection.

I first bought this game cuz a friend recommended it to me. So I took it home, popped it in the PS2 and in no time at all I was hooked. This game has the best graphics, characters, combos, and storyline I've ever seen. I would recommend this game to anyone with a PS2. AWESOME GAME!!

Ok first off i just have to say that this game is amazing. You never slow down. You hit one button for your guns and another for your sword, its insane. Well the whole story is that your father is the devils son and your father stops the devil from destroying earth. And your father goes to earth and marrys a mortal and they have you. So as you know your a half human half demon. Your father dies and the devil comes back...how convenyant. So as you know you have to go down to hell and dave the world. Well all you have to do is pass some possessed puppets and some hell hounds, some shadow beasts, and the sinscissors, oh ya and the grim reaper, then you can fight your way through some other monsters and get to the devil. Ya its a pretty long process. Ok now lets get to the game. First off i like how they took the game and made it missions instead of one whole game. Its like levels. I know your thinking it sounds really stupid but its actuelly pretty cool. The graphics are amazing and the people look really real. The whepons are just cool. You have to pistols...kinda like Lara Croft, and you get a shotgun later on. You also have a sword that can kill about anything that breathes. The puzzles are fun because there not hard but there not to easy. The game is just an overall access. The gameplay is wierd but you get onto it really fast. once you start playing it i will promase you you will not put it down, its so cool. If you are a bg fan of trying to salve mind numbing puzzles and have some but not alot of blood and vilence then STAY AWAY from this one. But if you like total action, blood nonstop killing fast paced games you will LOVE this game. So if you dont have this game then Get it...NOW!

I'm not saying that this game is poor! I like Dante for his great fighting ability, weapons, and everything else. The graphics are incredible and the combos are a lot of fun. Dante looks awesome and cool. his voice makes him "bad" and he looks great! I like this game for the awesome fighting style, the awesome ifrits and alastor, levels, monsters, GRAPHICS!!, and the whole entire Mallet Island Castle. My downside is Dante Must Die and getting all "S" ranks. And "Sparda" is what makes me laugh. Of course, it's only a costume. I only play this for the heck of it. It's a great game and so much fun. I would definitely tell anyone who loves a lot of action get this game. DMC2 is going to be better! LONG LIVE DANTE!!!

I bought this from ebay and I played it for 5 straight hrs....no guide....no cheats. I had fun with it all the way. The graphics and action are intense. The music is even creepy. The characters are well thought out. There are so many moves to learn and magics to use. I was challenged by this game on a few spots. If you cant find it cheap....rent it one night and play straight. Wake up in the mrning knowing you have become a top demon hunter.

Devil May Cry has extraordinary graphics, solid gameplay, and a face and engaging storyline... at least the first time through. I was very disappointed with this game however, because it's lacking in a few absolutely key areas. For one, this is capcom we're talking about! Dante a few swords and a gauntlet throughout the entire game! If they included more weapons, more spells and definitely improved the potency of the Sparda Sword, this game would have much more replay value. In addition, any difficulty level harder than normal is insanely difficult, and painstakingly frustrating. In short, rent this game and beat it once; pulling your hair out to get the secrets just simply isn't worth it in my opinion. Next time, in the sequel, Capcom should include more spells, more items, and definitely more weapons. The inventory screen is designed for this kinda thing! Overall a good game, but not excellent.

When I first heard of Devil May Cry created by capcom (creaters of Resident Evil) I thought it was just going to be another Resident Evil with a differnt name and story. When I got to play it, I was completely wrong. Its the best action game to come out in along time. Although this title starts off quite slow, it does pick up later in the game with creatures such as puppets, rats, scorpions and bugs chasing you through the massive and great looking castle. The part that hooked me was the fights, how you can hit some one in the air and shoot them to pieces before they fall. The devils are crying but not enough to cry over the heroic Dante . Armed with duel handguns,shotgun,grenade launcher, and more. He also use a blessed sword which he can do combos and other moves. He also can do hand to hand combat and can learn new combos by buying them at a statue. You have to give the statue a certain amount of Red orbs that you will obtain it from monsters . Last but not least you can turn into a devil that shoots bolts of lightning and does the other moves . With the great story line, unbelievable soundtracks, great controls, cool graphics and much more, I’ll give them the 10/10 marks based on Capcom’s great job making this great game. Overall this is capcoms best creation yet. It has one of the best action and great story. I hope capcom makes a sequel to this masterpiece. I highly recommend this game for anyone who owns a PS2. My opinion: I don't care what genre you're into just go out and get this game, because it's truly a gamers' game and you won't regret buying it, trust me on this one.... Capcom RULES!!!
