This game was an earth shuttering game when it was released on the pc three years ago however it is starting to feel a tad dated.Don't get me wrong I think that this is a great game however there have been some leaps and bounds in gaming in the last three years that half life has missed out on. This game is identical to the pc version and therefore isn't really worth getting as I think that everyone has played the game to death however if you haven't played the pc version you're in fort a treat.

its okay the cheats rock and the guns too but its brill i take me 10 hours to complete it but still a good game the decay game with the two girls is good but when you shoot a guard its mission failed graphics excellent sound good gameplay excellent and fun too play

Graphics-the graphics rock. everyhting looks really real. to the aliens, and the people. the aliens are really bloody and it looks really real. the people sy there own things when you talk to them and its really cool.
Gameplay-the gameplay rocks. the ony complaint i have os that the control is hard, but you get used to it. the gameplay is always suspensfull. you never know what is going to happen next. for exapmple i was waling dow this hall and all of a sudden this elevator drops with a guy screaming in it. it scared the hell out of me.
all i can say is get this game. i just got it and im alreaddy hooked. i mean at first its wierd cause the controls and you think why did i buy this game, but give it a chance because once you find a whepon and start bashing alien heads it rocks. the aliens half the time wolnt kill you but the other things like elctricity, and lazer beams and that sort of thing will. this game is just all around cool. the game is really real. like this dead guy was laying on the ground and this laxer beam from this experameant went nuts and hit him and he like got cut open and his orgens went everywhere. its really cool, so if you dont have this game GET IT!!!

There is a lot of imagination, creativity and probably even more hard work behind this game. The final result is an excellent product in every aspect. The question is: Is this game right for YOU?
If you enjoy solving puzzles, running through winding corridors, crawling through vent shafts, balancing on pipes, jumping between ledges, dodging outbursts of steam and fire, getting exposed to radiation, heat, gas, leeches(!), turning switches, pulling levers…etc. etc. This is a game for you. If you prefer a steady flow of action you should buy another game. The combat situations in Half-Life are mostly short and fierce, often leaving you dead or seriously injured. The real challenge however is to survive the hostile environment without being electrocuted, drowned, squashed…etc.
I never was a fan of the “learning by dying” strategy. When i need to wind down after a hard days work i´d rather not do it by getting pissed of solving problems and walking into death-traps. I want to kick ass and show the bad guys who´s in charge.

From the moment the loading screen fades it becomes evident that you're in for a treat.This game was a masterpiece when released on the pc 3 years ago and to this day there are only few shooters that deliver the same singleplayer thrill. Everything from the clean and crisp graphics running at a solid 60fps, to the compelling storyline just breath with excellence. The game will pull you in from the start with a crap load of interaction with your surroundings and other ingame characters. Enemies have the best A.I. ever seen in a videogame, Aliens will charge you no matter what (probably because they aren't familiar with the destructive power of a 12 gauge shotgun hehehe...) enemy swatteams are an entirely different matter! These guys react in an incredibely realistic manner once you engage them in battle, they will charge you in groups when possible and retreat and regroup when necessary, they will change their hiding positions during a gunfight making it harder for you to concentrate on their whereabouts once things heat up. Leveldesign is also nothing short of brilliant!!
A thing also worth mentioning is that the guys at Monolith truly went out of their way to please PS2 gamers with this one. Everything from the userfriendly interface to the silky smooth gameplay of the game itself tells the gamer that no expense was spared when porting over this classic shooter to the little black box under your tv. I'm serious, if all developers would follow this fine example of investing time and effort to get the most out of the PS2 system the gamingworld would be a better place! Recent PS2 disappointments such as "007 agent under fire" and "Max Payne PS2" are proof of this. Both excellent games in themselves but they would have been so much better if the developers had only taken the time to optimize their products before their actual release. I for one would gladly wait an extra month for a game to be released to have a better product on my hands when finally playing it !! Well....what are you still doing reading this review... go out now and buy this jewel of a game !!!
