Best car in the game |
| Bargo from Brussels - Belgium says (25/Nov/2002): |
The best car I used in the game is the Porsche 964 T. Fully boosted, it has the best acceleration of all cars. The handle is quite unusual, but once you get used to it, you can stay very stable at very high speed, and not lose speed when turning. Try it, I have beaten White Carismo very easily with it... I am now discovering a quite boring aspect of the game : beat every Wanderer (special Day, car, number plate, tuning in order for them to accept the challenge). Apparently, the last big boss (car N° 400) doesn't show up before every car is beaten

Great Game |
| Trevor from Surrey,British Columbia says (24/Nov/2002): |
This is a good overall game it has everything from classic Datsuns and And Mazda RX3's but it also has new cars. The body kit option is cool there is tons of parts and the stickers a cool too. And to people talking about this "Auto Matic Ticket" have you ever watched the replay after getting one? It's Photo Radar thats how they get you the reason for the sirens is that they try and get in pursuit anyways but your already going to fast.

Quite possibly the greatest racing game ever made. |
| Ian Robertson from Palmdale, California, USA says (20/Nov/2002): |
As a racing sim, Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero is practically flawless. However, a lot of the criticisms and praise it has received are matters of personal preference. The graphics are excellent, the physics are very good, and the gameplay is smooth and engaging. The game's personality, however, is largely Japanese and doesn't really seem to concern itself with predominantly American audiences--everything from the untranslated route names to the Mega Man-esque soundtrack speaks of blatant Nipponese-ness. In my personal opinion, this adds to the game, but I won't say that it's necessarily for everyone. Oh, and by the way, I'm not sure if this is meant as a direct sequel or not, but there was a game for the original playstation called Tokyo Highway Battle that was essentially the same game just with the cars and graphics of yesteryear.

Definatley for euro car fans. |
| Jared Smith from Wichita Falls, USA says (20/Nov/2002): |
If you like euro cars , this game is for you! Although it could be better, it's still the best racin i've ever played. The only real draw backs to it are the raing styles, whichare moe like that of battling, and the neglect to get the licensing for all the cars..... I mean come on......you can't drive a 1089r-34 or whatever, and call it an R-34 GT-R SKYLINE! It's a crime, but overall it's a damn fine game in my book

The Best game ever produced |
| Tommy Schnake from New Orleans, La, US says (7/Nov/2002): |
This has been the best game ever produced by sony. They took this title off of the Dreamcast. But still this is the tightest game I have ever played. It is the first racing game in which you can race for money, then go put body kits, engine mods, suspension, rime and tires, and everthing else. I play this game everyday, I already beet it, but I still keep playing it.

Tokyo racing |
| Will Nixon from Clemmons NC USA says (21/Oct/2002): |
I think that tokyo extreme racing zero is awsome it has lots of cars there fun to buy fix up it is way better than Midnight racing and I hope they come out with a nother one to play.
|
wow! exciting hard and fun all in one game |
| Paul Assante from clemmons nc says (20/Oct/2002): |
TERZ is one of the best racing game i have ever played. It blows all the GT's away. i gave it a 9 b/c there is a few down sides. I wish there was NOS though if it had NOS it would be the best game ever. at some points it can be hard b/c of the wanderers. but overall its a pretty damn good game.
|
i wish it was real |
| cody from Sidney, Montana, USA says (15/Oct/2002): |
I think this game is as close to fast and the furious as you can get. This game leaves black marks over GT3. I like that it's street racing and not on a track. I just started playing it and I have a Nissan Skyline with 1104 HP. It goes 263 in 5th gear. I'm only at level 7 engine. I don't know how much more I can do to my car before I have to buy a new one. I haven't beat White Carismo yet to get his car but I'm looking forward to it. All I have to say is that this game kicks a$$!
|
Damn good game |
| Demonix from South Carolina, USA says (14/Oct/2002): |
After playing midnight Club and watching The Fast And The Furious, I had to get this game. Everything you want to do to the car is there at your fingertips. From the headlights to the turbo boost. Absolutly amazing.
|
its a street racing game not on the track like some games!!!! |
| sam from ft lauale (AL) says (13/Oct/2002): |
this game is cool but i think it needs some cops. this game is better than gt3 only if you like street racing. i Also wish they would add some kind of nos or nitrous. And if they put neon under car lights in this game people will start to call it the fast and the furious game. so all in all this game is addictave so if any yall gots home work make sure that what you rache to finish first.

Great game but could be better |
| Andrei from chapel hill nc orange county usa says (12/Oct/2002): |
i didnt beat the game but even tho i love it the more i pla it the more im re thinking my original 9.5 score so il give it a 7 this time around.i have more good things then bad but il only say the bad bc anybody you ask will tell you the good. The games bigest down side is its lack of variety, it never changes the streets are beutifuly remodeled but i can only love only tokyo only at night so much and the cars detail is along side GT3 (yes if you really look and know cars) however it gets old to only see the cars ass rear view button would be better then the fun turn signs, also they missed 3 great things that would have made this game one of the best arcade-sim racers for the consle : damege and cops it would be great to watch those beutiful body kits shater in a few hundred pices and if you could battle cops and oponents that would be great fun ... at the same time too... it be great, or what if you saw that cop hit the brakes and your oponent looses bc he got arrested. this is definetly a diffrent type of raceing game and i hope for a second release and maybe this time around they can license the cars to make them as realistic as the curent ones almoust are (they needed to falw each and evry car from the real life one in order to not violate copy rights)

Such a great game. |
| A gamer from RR. Tx. U.S. says (6/Oct/2002): |
I love this game, I always liked the rush, to race in extreme speed to go between car and curve inches from the wall. Just feels good whenever you follow your instinct and drive like crazy (...but WITH skill) and somehow manage to barely win against your opponent. Of course, it could get frustrating sometime.
Too bad there isn't the real name of vehicle, but aw well. I love to tune up cars and test them.
At the beginning, the game is rather easy, but all opponents gets tougher and tougher. The only way to win even with a weaker vehicle, are at the turns. If you can't do fast 90degree turns without hitting anything, you will have a little difficulty winning. Most opponents slow downs at turn, giving you an opportunity to get in front of him and blast off.
Once you reach the straight highway, well... then it's all about your vehicle, and it might take time to get enough money to buy one.
Hope this help a little, and always remember.
Buckle up.

win and win fast is how i do it |
| Locust from South Beloit says (24/Sep/2002): |
I love this game, plan and simple. This game has everything. Everything gt3 doesn't. I don't care if gt3 has cool exotic cars. This game lets you build a car from nothing. It has all the kool ricers you see in the mags and more. The highway is limited, but hey who really f***ing cares man. This game is truely endless. You can race even after your done beating everyone. And the great thing is you can race your friends as well. Making the game a great party game if your friends own it too. Which most of mine do. This game has cops, you get speeding tickets, and you get to race on........THE STREETS.

Japanese Street Racing At Its Best!!!!! |
| Raven from Camden, SC USA says (27/Aug/2002): |
This game rocks!! It is truely Japanese street racing to a tee! Not only is the game play great, but the realisticness of the driving conditions is right on!! The customising options and engine upgrades kick some major butt! Also, no matter how fast your car is you have to have driving skill to win, I love that, a racing game that takes skill!!!!!!!!!! The dodging of big trucks and other cars is awsome! I also like how they have the, quater mile option in the time trial part of the game! This really lets you tweak your car to get the best accel by altering gear ratios and your cars raw accelleration! The tweaking is another neat thing about this game! You can change everything from your accel, your steering, where the brakes brake the most, your gear ratios, your cars hight off the ground, all the way up to how much power your turbo is pushing out! You can customise your car into a beast, the tweak it into a demon!! I think the best part though is how the game uses the real names of the cars!! Like instead of calling a AE86T hatchback a Terinno, they call it an AE86T!! And the Civic hatchback, is an EG6 like it was always ment to be!!!!!!!!!! Nothing about this game needs to be imporved!! I just wish it could be kept out of the hands of little ricer people who want to put ground effects lighting on the cars! If it could, then it would truely be the best!!!

not as good as gt3 |
| Joe from East Haven, Connecticut, USA says (26/Aug/2002): |
ok where do i start, the game is a really good concept but definately does NOT blow GT3 out of the water. the game does have more add-ons for the cars than GT3 but just lacks the realism that GT3 does. GT3 is a lot longer than this game so thats what makesGT3 more challenging. and the fact that the game has false names for the cars totally sux, but hey at least u can make ur own name and give it its own. the game really needs better background music cuz it totally sux azz. i like the fact that u can see all the upgrades u get for ur car but what really sux is that u have to unlock more upgrades and it doesnt tell u how to do it u just haveta race everybody. and those damn wonderers always cancel my challenges, i dont understand that. i really like the fact that u can change the gear ratios of ur car while ur in the pause menu instead of goin all the way back to the start menu, thats really a plus. other than all the flaws this game has its pretty good, but definitely NOT better than GT3 for all u fags that dont appreciate GOOD racing games.

Da shiz nit |
| Low luder from Lincoln, Nebraska, USA says (23/Aug/2002): |
This game is so badass I can't even explain... 2 problems tho needs the real car names and neon ground effects optional for the cars! that would be so tight!!!! Other wise this game blows GT3 out of the water with the changing parts. Another seemingly important difference between this and GT3 is the licensing of cars. Car companies will not lend their names to illegal street racing games for obvious reasons. At first this may seem like a big deal, but after a while you will begin to see that all of your favorite cars are there. They just do not have names attached to them. Plus, with all of the customization that you can do the cars will cease to look like any of the originals anyway. With over 150 cars you will definitely find something that suits your tastes even if it does not have a label on it. Do you think real street racers care about the brand of car that they drive anyway?

If you like zero.... |
| Midnight XII from Texas, USA says (23/Aug/2002): |
If you like TER Zero there are two other versions out there already. Thing is that it's on the Dreamcast. The gameplay is just as smooth as the PS2 TER Zero and for the most part you still have most of the variable options in Tokyo Extreme Racer and TER 2. This $hit just never gets old and the AI is still just as good.

This game is unreal |
| Nate Vander Ploeg from Holland, MI says (10/Aug/2002): |
I love this game, i just got it and ive only won the 2nd part of highway but its so sweet. I love suping up my car and racing, what seems, endless ammounts of cars. The actual races are badass, and the computer racers are very realistic when they race, and whats cool is even though you get unlucky and have trucks pull in front of you and you lose the race, the same happens to the computer sometimes, they arent perfect racers which is cool too. I just cant wait till they make a sequel. i dont want to beat it because i dont want it to end. GREAT GAME even if you dont like racing games, this is my first racing game ive actually ever boughten
|
i dont really like racing games but i love this one! |
| Ian Crom from Oceanside, California , USA says (6/Aug/2002): |
This game is by far the best racing game ever, I liked how you had to earn upgrades by defeating racers from 13 devils and how you could customize everything on your car, oh and the blinkers were pretty cool cause they didnt put that in the gran turismo game. what I didnt like was the automatic speeding ticket, I didnt like when the trucks would cut me off and i didnt like how the weather was always the same. I think they should of put Drag races in the game. and i think they should of let you customize your own sticker like the wanderers since you are a wanderer. but even with all the flaws i loved this game and i hope they make a sequel pretty soon.

Some Good Some Bad |
| Vanquish11 from Wisconsin, USA says (10/Jul/2002): |
Tokyo extreme racing had a great concept, however they had poor judgement in certain areas. Car detail was excellent however scenery and environment suffered. there also was no weather change and cops??? none all u get is a flashing light and when you return to your garage u get an automatic ticket with no chance to outrun your would-be po-po's. I read one review that said this blew GT3 out of the water, by no means!! this was justr a good show of pocket rocket themes. the game lacked any kind of goal other than to race all the rivals, there are no other side goals or mysteries to explore. gameplay physics was a bit off as well, for instance cliping your mirror on a cement divider at 200 mph should not stop your car completely and repel you in another direction. so if these things are figured out and they make a tokyo extreme racer 2 it may be more interesting.
