The Newest in the | | Ando Hirschbach from Currently on tour in America says (24/Aug/2002): | The graphics in Dynasty Warriors 3 are far from perfect, and the pop-up is very bad. There are not to many move variations, and for some the game can get repetitive at times. But you know what? I think you just might like it anyway. There are many different characters to unloc, over forty actually, all fundamentally different and will provide a reason to play and unlock the impressive amount of thirty+ missions. When I was charging through a field on horse, heading for the leader of a troop to chop him to bits with my brand new, painstakingly aqquired level 4 weapon, stopping all the lowly soldiers who try to prevent me on my path of destruction in their tracks, I am not thinking about pop-up, graphics, or any of these things, at this moment they are insignifigant, becaus I am out for blood, the opposing army MUST fall, as my battle commander keeps reminding me, "We must be victorious!" As if I had planned it any other way. The multiplayer in this game is amazing, not only can you play through the whole game on two player but you can play a bunch of versus modes against each-other. The only problem with this is on two player, when you are playing the main game, having 500 characters on each screen at once simply does not compte, and the result is slowdown at the worst possible times in the thisck of battle, it can get so bad it appears you are fighting on the moon.
The music is forgettable rock and roll, and really doesn't fit the ancient-China theme of the game, although mostly everything else does, and the voice acting is so inceribly cheesy it is great, like a cheap Jackie Chan movie, it excels in its badness. I also cant stress enough the pure, unbridled satisfaction you will get from being sorrounded by enemies who are taking endless cheap shots at you from every angle, when with a bloodcurdling cry of "Get the hell offa me!" You unleash your Mushou (special) attack and send every single one of them flying ten feet into the air, and then rush over to the amazingly annoying archers and make them feel your wrath. The levels are nicely varied also, they all have the exact same objective, kill everybody especially the main boss, but doing this with snow pouring down is an intirely different experience than doing it in the middle of the desert. Another feature I like for this type of game is the ability on almost all the levels to completly ignore everybody and go straight to the final boss, ending the level. You wont get anything in the way of experince which will hold you back in later levels, butit is great for the gamer on the go. Another thing I liked is the ability to revisit previous levels to gain more experience and better weapons that can be the different between victory and defeat when you get close to the end of your characters quest. Another thing that I enjoyed is that every character has a different, if only by a little bit, quest, and since their are different sides in this game, you may find that the final boss is the last character you played through the game with. Overall a great fighting game, if you enjoy this type of game I would suggest overlooking its flaws and making it your next purchase.

| A great game, but held back by flaws | | John Eubank from Maryland, USA says (9/Jan/2002): | Dynasty Warriors 3, the sequel to the one of the PS2 games at the system's launch, is everything you came to expect with Dynasty Warriors 2, only more. Let me start off with the good things first: this game will have your hooked, the gameplay is excellent, with hack-and-slash and a little bit of strategy. This mix is perfect as you go around, meeting objectives, for example killing a general. The game includes over 20 giant stages with over 40 warriors playable after everything is unlocked, you can even port warriors from DW2 to add to the collection of warriors. Also included in this game is a much-needed in-game save feature, but to load the game back up is as slow as molasses. The game has a very unique sense of gameplay where you can get well over 1000 KO's in one battle alone. Another new feature is the multi-player aspect. You can battle a friend 1 on 1 or do a co-op. With one on one you choose any stage you have unlocked, but you only get an extremely small area to play on like a small bridge. Also, with both co-op and 1 on 1, whenever someone does a "musou" special attack, time stops for a small time, freezing gameplay for a few seconds, and after a person uses a musou attack, there is sometimes a horrendus framerate drop from the fast, smooth gameplay in 1 player. Another large problem with the game is the terrible sight-distance because of the fog that appears on every level, with the same amount of thickness. A final complaint is how warriors just appear out of thin air to fight you. Even with it's flaws, Dynasty Warriors 3's very high replayability and fast, fun gameplay should definetly end up in your collection.
| Best war game ever! | | Ryan Jones from Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales. says (7/Nov/2003): | This is a game for any war game collector - It features a 2 player mode, Mousu mode, Challange mode and, much more. You can earn the newest generals and, gain new weapons Including the mysterious Fourth weapons form which you have to complete a set of tasks to gain them. If you are one of thoes people who like a challange, the game has 3 different difficulty settings, allowing you to test your skills. To get the fourth weapons though you have to use the hard mode so, train your generals well before attempting to get them.
I personally think that the game could be imporved with more characters and, more weapons. I also think that you should have the ability to create your own characters (as I know you can in Dynasty Warriors 4) but, for all perpouses this game is a MUST for any gamer reguardless of skill level.
Fun Factor: 10/10 - What more can I say other that it is great!
Graphics: 9/10 - a few minor improvements will give the game a complete 10! The battle graphics are not the best but, still rate about 9 with me. No blood, that is the main problem.
Sound: 10/10 - no improvements here, the music gives the feel of the battles, and of the games events.
Gameplay: 10/10 - this agme has plenty of features to allow anyone to play and, enjoy.
Originality: 10/10 - this is the only game I have seen that offers the oppourtunity to fight in a plas frame of view so, 100% original form me.
value: 11/10 - You must have this game so value is atleast 11/10!
| A quick overview | | Nick from Mt. Carmel,Pennsylvania, U.S.A says (28/Jun/2003): | Ok, to put it simple: this game is amazing. At first, it's pretty..well..bland...with only three characters for each side...a bit lame. I went with Zhang He, and unfortunately I dind't realize until the last level that equipping my better weapons is somethign I had to do manually. It's a bit odd when killing a private takes the same time as an early stage general. Since then, I decided to cheat, put in the all characters code and have a new favorite..the war machine known as....Xu Huang. To finally get to my overview....the graphics are good...not amazing...but good enough. The sound...errr...my second biggest beef: good weapon sounds...terrible repetitive music though. My biggest problem are the quick cutscences after general battles...I doubt in past times that men said "Good job, see ya later!" (Zhang Fei). Those along with almost every general terrible catch phrases soured it a slight bit. BUT, game play is amazing...controls are extremely simple and that helps a bit when you're surrounded by 40-some Gaurd Majors. My favorite aspect though is/are the amount of characters you can use...after either unlocking or cheating. In general, I'de say it's a definete buy..and it sparked me to get some books and number 4, naturally. Damn the creators...I still cannot unlock Xu Huang 4th yet...
| THE BEST GAME FOR PS2 EVER!!! | | Mary from HIckory, North Carolina , Catawba says (27/Jul/2003): | Dynasty Warrios 3 is probably the best game I have ever played!! i mean it has different places and people for you to see! The graphics are awesome! along with all details like for example the walls or the horses like right when u look at them u can tell what they are..i mean i know if u have any other games with walls or horses etc. that u can see them but dude! u can just tell that this is better! if u dont have this game well then GET IT!! and i also like it when you see the generals die....i mean i dont like it when they die ( only if they are on my team ) but anyways and i mean when your fighting someone on the other team and a pisutre just pops up showing what or who has dided on your team or the other team! its AWESOME I love it
| Sun Ce rules!! This game is the ultimate hack n' slash!!!!!! | | A gamer from Van Buren (AR) USA says (29/Apr/2005): | This game is seriously the greatest of the hack n' slash genre. I got this game and the first thing i did was unlock Sun Ce. The only thing i dont have is his 4th mystery weapon, but i will find it, i promise. Anyway, this game is definately the best in its class, and i recommend anyone with an appetite for slaughter, or just into hack n' slashes, to get this game as soon as possible!!!!!!!!! The graphics are amazing, the sound is phenomenal, the gameplay is awe-inspiring, and the depth, dont even get me started!!! There are many generals, items, and weapons to acquire, some of which are quite hard to find. My favourite character is Sun Ce, with his hard-hitting and amazingly fast tonfas. Happy Slashin!!!!
| Let The Bodies Hit The Floor | | Lord Zhuge from S'pore says (21/Sep/2002): | March into the battlefield where you dominate and let your enemies feel your wrath. Especially the sickening archers who run like the d*ckens everytime you approach them. These sickening snipes appear everywhere. The next group of people who seem to have a death wish are the cowards who attack you from your back. Do not hesitate to show them the path to the spirited world. You have ultimate power in your hands, you can destroy the pain in your way. You can make villains suffer, support your army and satisfy your hunger for action. Navigate around the gigantic maps and kill your way to victory. Mercy is for the weak, protection is for the cowardly. Make them fear the mighty and kill the opposing.
| BEST GAME EVER ! | | James Cain from Ottawa, Illinois,USA says (18/Jul/2002): | The large selection of generals alone will keep you on your toes wanting you to try them all. One of the best parts of the game is the awesome weapons the characters have ,and the way the wipe out so many people with them. Its fun to be able to kill so many people in one game. I could play for hours and not even think about stopping this game is great! My advice to anyone who reads this should go right out and buy it and make your own judgements on the awesome graphics and great camera angles. make sure and pick up any and all crates you`ll never know what you will find, maybe it could improve the game for you, if thats possible.
| Play this game to get your controllers sticky. | | Cross Slash from Singapore says (23/Aug/2002): | This game is so fast-paced,Your palms tend to get sweaty. But this game has something in return for your sweaty palms,it provides hours of gameplay daily. It is a very lasting game, you can find yourself playing it for months, but not years, because you will get all the other later series even before you know it.
The numerous playable generals have distictive features. They fight differently and run differently. The music adds atmosphere to the battling mood. The giant maps loaded with enemies provide challenging objectives and impossible odds.
| Best ps2 game ever | | RYAN PIERCE ( LU BU MASTER) from IL, USA says (20/Nov/2002): | Dyansty warriors 3 is perhaps the greatest playstation 2 game ever mad. the graphics are so incredibly good, the detail in the characters are incredibley awesome, the weapons are kicka$$, and the game has 2-player mode making it easier in the game. yet the game also lacks things like sometimes the guys dissapear and then reappear behind you. and how if one player dies, both players lose. BUT I ALSO LIKE IT BECAUSE, BELEIVE IT OR NOT, THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE I DID A REPORT ON LU BU!!!

It takes a while so that you get to play longer. It's not a walk in the park to beat. Some characters are from the Dynasty Warriors 2 game. The game is overall the best fighting game for PS2!!!
