It is one of the worst rpg's i have ever played |
| PS2 24/7 from Detroit, Michigan USA says (10/Jul/2002): |
OK Robert Kawalski So you don't have to watch the dumb cutscenes 5 times if you train your guys. Big deal. Most (I mean all) of the cutscenes I didn't even care about the first time I watched them and they still take too long. Anyways the graphics are good so I'll give it that but everything else was horrible. Even as an American I think Tidus voice was annoying (but then again so was everything else about him) The plot falls apart as you get further into the game. One of the big mistakes squaresoft made was having Tidus promise to Yuna that he would always stay with her then at the end of the game maybe a week after that he jumps off the airship leaving her (what irony?). The battle scenes: OK when did unrealistic battles become popular? The battles do let you use different characters but really it's boring when the battle goes like attack then the computer attacks. That is way too like something off gameboy, wink wink. Going back to the plot falling apart after you get to Gagazet it looks like they just made it up as they went along; the characters make the same stupid mistakes (one of which is not taking brain pills I mean talk about a stupid protagonist)like trying to get Yuna to get the final aeon. I thought that in Bevelle they tried to take Sin on by other means. The last battle is like really corny. All you have to do is hit Yu Yevon with Tidus once and no matter how weak he is it'll still kill Yu Yevon. Talk about boring. So for anyone who doesn't have this game you are the smart ones. Take my Advice: Getting 2-Bit Game for Fifty Bucks is better than getting this for 10

Could have been MUCH more.... |

First off, this won't be some gay ass half page review (you know who you are) but it will be straight off the top of my head. Great game when it comes to play and graphics but the flaws are so blatant it amazes me I mean a game with such detail, how could they miss these. 1a - I am American and I too can't stand Tidus' voice (just my opinion) 1b - characters speech should match the movement of thier mouths...I mean how many of you were so annoyed when Tidus tried to show Yuna to whistle and was talking like he had $#< remove me > at ! in his mouth when his hands were by his side? 2 - Blitzball...ok nice idea but wtf? Reverse the minigames Chocobo's # 1 and Blitzball # 2. 3 - The way the sequences hop around especially early in the game it's hard to keep up; how many people were wondering wtf was actually going on the first 2 hours they were playing, I didn't even understand the plot at first and was starting to think there was none....not to mention that the computer helps out that whole time, you get babied through alot which is gay. 4 - Just want to remind you that Blitzball is stupid 5 - Loved the sphere grid but you need to be taught totally about it as soon as possible not just bits and pieces, cuz once you invest its gone. And finally the top thing, Imagine these graphics with an FF7 story. Talk about a perfect 10!

The Gamers Fantasy |
| Hijinx from ????,New Zealand says (2/Jul/2002): |
Dosen't anyone know why the voices don't match? It's because when it was translated to the English version, they didn't change the game to suit it. Some bits in Japanese are shorter or longer than in English and the game was made in Japanese! Get over it! Anyway a really great game with stunning visuals and mediocre music. I really like how Aeons can fight as a character. I also liked how you can learn a language.

The best!!! (ff7 tops it though) |
| Funk master chippy from kobble , afghanastan :-) says (29/Jun/2002): |
At first i was hesitant to pick up ffx because it costs 50 bucks so I rented it and thought it was GREAT. so of course I used almost half of my savings (for a palm pilot) and made the purchace.
PROS: GRAPHICS
The graphics are great in this game. If u think about it, there even better than the FMV movie thingies in FF7. when i rented it, i was in the first part when tidus is playing blitzball and my mom asked what i was watching. There That good!!! Battle system/upgrading: Finally a battle system where all your characters have a chance to be equally involved!! also i thingk the sephere grid was a GREAT idea. i cant say i was a big fan of that exp-level thing in past ff titles. its too much like pokemon. Characters: All the characters in this game are preety cool (cept Kimari I hate his dog face and he dosent do anything but sit around and gripe about everything wrong!!!!) My fave must be auron. he has a soword like cloud, and hes a zombie! what more could u ask for!!!
CONS: Blitzball: OHOOOOO i hate this game (if u can even call it that) all it is is under water soccer. and the computer bacically plays it 4 you. Where the chocobos go???!!: past ff titles made chocobos a major thing. now u can just race them in a confined area. (wht this game gets a 9) Facial expressions: the back says there are real facial expressions, and on the main characters there are. but the towns peoples faces are extremely 32-bit. Overall a must buy game

words cannot say about this game |
| christopher darvell from Gosford,New South Wales ,Australia says (27/Jun/2002): |
when i first i was not to happy about the game but as i went on with it i changed my mind completly about i always had FF8 as my fav now 10 just kicks just about all RPG games thats has ever come out on any system. the story is just so original the graphics well i wet my shorts just seeing the FMV and well just about the whole gameim now at the flat lands and ive done about 40 hours playing (shows i dont have a life) and i cant wait to play it when i get home either the game it self or blitzball which i have the best team so. So if any body thinks different about this game to either me or other great FFX fans they are as sad as people with that thing called the game cube or X-BOX

Outstanding! |
| CJ Madd from Luisville, Kentuky USA says (20/Jun/2002): |
This is a really great game, Plenty of action cut scenes and great graphics. The one and only problem I have with this game is that once your on the airship for the second(2)time, you are unable to return to the temple in bevelle. Whats the big deal, right? Well there is none if you remembered to open the secret chest before you leave, but if you didn't your screwed out of any chance of getting anima or the megas sisters! So if you are close to or at that point hopefully you'll read this before its to late!

great game but one problem |
| Firey Zen says (12/Jun/2002): |
this game is great awesome graphics and amazing story line but the problem is the characters. They look too realistic, while it does look great, it takes some of the mystical fantasy out of the game, maybe if they werent so human if they were elves or something it might have looked better but oh well... too late now.

Blitzball-player Tidus and his friends on a great journey |
| Saku Ojala from Ähtäri,Finland says (11/Jun/2002): |
The FF-series has been very good, but Final Fantasy 10 is better than FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX together. The cinematic sequences are excellent, and the game sounds better than ever, and it´s fun to just listen the characters. Final Fantasy 10 has an excellent story, and it´s very exciting. This game has an excellent gameplay too, but the best part is it´s graphs. They are amazing. Like Final fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 9, this game has extremely goodlooking spells and summoning. This game is also great because of Blitzball. I can just hope that they make own game for Blitzball. Overall, I like this game and I will buy Final Fantasy 11 too.
|
Buy it!!!! |
| Chris Brown from Painted Hills, USofA says (5/Jun/2002): |
FF series was always the best. The best story the best graphics. FFX is the best though. I love how they can talk on this one. If you like the FF series buy it. If you like good stories buy it. It's the greatest game ever.
|
One of the best! |
| Ken Marcotte from lancaster CA,USA says (2/Jun/2002): |
The final fantasy line has always been the best! The best graphics, The best story, The best hero and best sound, but after playing all the final fantasy games you tend to notice some simularities such as the story always starts out the hero go's on a sojourn that is about him but ends up about saving the world, The hero and the heroin always fall in love, The heros weapon is always a sword or dagger, And most of them have a person named Cid in it. But all in all it is a great game.
|
It's a really good game. |
| Jessica from Sweden says (24/May/2002): |
I bought it today, because it released in Sweden today, and I got really impressed by the goods graphics and sound and all. It's fun that you can swim in this Final Fantasy. I have 7, 8, 9 and 10 and my´favourites is 8, 9, 10. 7 is really good also but not so good as the other ones. The characters is amazing, some talk, how they move, the faces and the bodies..... I recommend this game! IT'S AMAZING!!!!!

Square does it again |
| put101 from New York, USA says (11/May/2002): |
Once again, Square has proven that they can take a great thing and make it better. The beautiful graphics and awesome sound that we've all come to expect from a Final Fantasy game are back, backed by the power of the PS2. However, this is hardly the same old, same old.The revamped battle system does away with the real time engine in favor of turn-based, more srategy oriented one. Individual voice acting has been added, a first in the series. This means that you can experince the emotions of the characters, who are both well developed and mysterious (Auron, mostly) at the same time. In the midst of all this is a great story, filled with twists and turns, betrayal, and the classic love, religion, and the end of the world elements of any good RPG. My only minor gripe is Tidus, the main charecter. I'll let you figure this one out on your own.
|
Ok, you got nothing to gripe about |
| Robert Kawalski from Tennessee, USA says (22/Apr/2002): |
in reading the reviews I discovered that quitte a few people got nothing to do but complain about the fact that you can't skip cut scenes...get over it! Maybe if you powered up your characters you wouldn't have that problem. The only boss I had to fight was Seymour on Mt. Gagazet and even then I only fought him twice. So do a little powering up..run around a save point fighting battles for a while at different points in the game and quit moaning and groaning.
|
Wow! |
| Robert Kawalski from Tennessee, USA says (21/Apr/2002): |
Graphics, storyline, and an awesome new abilities system. What else can you say but WOW! In terms of storyline I'm still fighting over whether IX or X was better, and the same goes with the abilities system, both were much better than the materia system in VII and the junctioning system from VIII, but I'm not sure which I liked better. But one thing is for sure no other FF game can hold a candle to the graphics in X. I also enjoyed the Blitzball, it was entertaining, gave you a chance to customize your team and you got prizes out of it much better than the card game from IX (which I saw absolutely no point in).
Overall it was wonderful and I know that XI is going to be that much better so I can't wait!

Great Game!!! |
| Frank south says (19/Apr/2002): |
This game rules. The game of the century. The graphics are incredible. It is an overall breathtaking experience. The cut scenes are so amazing. The voice acting is great and the game doesn't exactly lack fun. A ten star with lots of action. To many battles though.

Good but confused |
| Jay from Ca, USA says (6/Apr/2002): |
The game was breath taking but I'm still having a little trouble comprehending the end of the game; what do you guys think Tidus is doing in the water? What does it represent? Also, is anyone else getting any rumors of a 2nd Final Fantasy that is supposebly gonna be a sequel to this specific game?

FFX isn't worth it. |
| J.A.C. from toledo ohio says (30/Mar/2002): |
I have been Final Fantasy fan for ten years so I looked forward to the latest volume. But what I saw was disapointing. Characters are pushed along a path. It does have it's good points. The summoning spells are awesome. Overall the game is a middle of the road game.

A breathtaking experience! |
| edsel docena from los angeles, ca USA says (12/Mar/2002): |
Final Fantasy X is just simply another well designed game from squaresoft. As I started to play the game, the graphics and the visuals were just phenomenal! Simply amazing! Then the first movie scene plays. Wow! I immediatly knew that this game was a great investment. For anyone. The sweet gameplay graphics added with the superb, much improved CG scenes were an added aspect ready to invade the world of the next generation RPG games. The story was also great. The simile and metaphorical inputs with the storyline were very good, which kept your mind in great strain. The story simply just sucks you into the game itself. I mean, I didn't eat for two days and got about five hours of sleep everyday. The new added systems like the level spere grid was very confusing as you look at it, but it is one of the most improved aspect of this game. Allowing you to personally customize your characters ability's within the level spheres. It is also sort of easy as a game. The minigames are also okay, not like in ff7. Although the blitzball game is pretty retarded at first, but when you recruit the mini game really improves. The chocobo sidequest in this game is very poor. they should have improved it. Getting the power up weapons for the ultimate weapon is also a drag. It is nearly impossible to acquire them and it comes extremely late in the game. Squaresoft should have made a continouation from the ending, allowing you to continue from the end and finishing the sidequest. Overall this game is superb! PLAY IT!!!

Our fantasy has come true....in a good way |
| Zach from Mount Wolf,PA USA says (3/Mar/2002): |
When I first got this game I was so stunned by the amazing graphics that I paid no attention to the fact that the voices don't match the mouth movements at all, that is mostly the only reason why I did not give this game a rating of ten, really the only other bad things about this game are: the boss fights can be unreasonably long and frustratingly difficult, namely the many battles against Seymour wich can take up to an hour to win, also there is no function that allows you to skip cut scenes and almost always there is a very long cut scene and alot of dialogue before almost every single boss fight and since the boss fights are so difficult you will often lose and have to watch the cut scene again and again and again wich can really get boring after awhile and cuts down on gameplay making the game longer than it was probably meant to be. the very worst thing though is that the game alone is so long even without the cut scenes and long boss fights, then add in all the long cut scenes, boss fights and start overs from losing and you've got yourself an overwhelmingly long game, but every body makes mistakes even Squaresoft right, some people might like this some(like me) may not. Now on to the nicer things of the game. The variety of characters is wonderful combined with as I said earlier the amazing graphics, wonderful story line, great storytelling and surprisingly good gameplay, Squaresoft really used the graphics processor to their advantage and out did themselves with this installment in the series. I know I can't wait until Squaresofts next installment in the great series of, Final Fantsy.

Final Fantasy X... feel the joy! |
| Adam from Sparwood BC, Canada says (3/Mar/2002): |
Ok this i have to say is the best Final Fantsy game ever! For one, the graphics kick some a$$. If you think other wise your crazy. Two, they finaly put some voices in. It would have been even better if every sing person had a voice... but oh well its grate anyway. Three, the new battle sistem and sphere grid, personally i think, is better then beeing stuck with only 3 or 4 characters and having to get all that exp. The only down side with the sphere grid is everyone can learn the exact same things, so there is nothing to define each charater except their overdrive. The battle sistem with the aeons is way better then just sommoning them and they do one thin and they'er gone, you accually get to fight with them like a normal character. At the end they become your top force agenst Braskas Final Aeon (but then again im cheep when it comes to end bosses).
There is only a cuple flaws that I can see, unlike mr. alstrailia up at the top, kid thinking Tidis's voice should be changed, that is so insaine. One, yes it would be better if you could skip those seens that are so long. I found my self stuck at Semore, (after he is dead) that pissed me off so much having to watch that seen over like 20 times. Almost too much watch not enuff play. Two, After when you get to the end it gets kinda dull fighting those mosters in Sin because if you just constantly fight you become allmost immortal, especially your aons with like the average health being 10 000 those Magus Sisters are sumthin elce with their helth at 20 000, the end boss dosen't stand a chance. Other than that the game was pritty kickin some ass! There aren't as many side quests in this Final Fantasy, as for say Final Fantasy 9. There is the all mighty Blitz Ball which is pretty great especially with that Jeckt Shot. Buy winning Blitz Ball tornaments and lege maches you can get Walkas overdrives and some pritty rare items like Dark Matter. And then theres the Chocobos', you get to train and race them, which is pritty sweet considdering you dont get much interaction with chocobos' in other final fantacys', basically just rideing them (oh grate fun). Well that concludes my review, excuse the spelling erors. I rate this game as one of the best game that I have ever played for the PS2.
