The best Game ever. |
| Tasha from U.K says (28/Mar/2004): |
I've gotta say, this game is the first FF game i've played and i LOVE it so much.I've already completed it!...as for the graphics, they are the best flamin' graphics in the world!
Ah, the graphics, the gameplay...the characters! Wow- and theres supposed to be am ovie too, i love FFX!
Just for your own personal reference:
When trying to kill Yu Yevon (final boss) keep casting reflect on your Aeons/people- and on Yu Yevon too, so none of his attacks work. Break him down, keep healing and use those overdrives at the right times. Oh, and if you haven't got Reflect by then, well, sorry!
Ok, i'll give you some more on the major last bosses:
the first boss: Sins fin
Easy. Use haste on all of your party (needed) and armor break Sin. Then, bring in the fighters use Tidus and Auron mainly, and their overdrives (third fighter optional) and hack away at Sin. This form of Sin is very weak (yet its HP is 65000- i don't get it) and deals healable damage.
2nd: Sin+ Sinspawn
it gets harder. The sinspawn takes all magic directed at Sin (they have 36000 and 20000 HP, im presuming the 20000 is the sinspawn-can't remeber) Armor break the spawn, silence it, then just attack. The weak sinpawn wont stand a chance, just keep hackin. Push into Sin now, using overdrives and attacks. Cure hte party when your health reahces critical levels. Keep it up and you will win. dont use TOO many over drives, rely on magic the most.
Sorry folks, thats all, e-mail me if you need help with any part of the game!
(oh, P.s, your next boss after that is overdrived Sin-Good luck, you'll need it- i did!)

theeee best |
| dan cook from England (sudbury) says (6/Aug/2004): |
when i first got the game i thought it sucked but as it progressed it got much better ive been playing it for 36 hours and compleated it. the game is amazing. my favourite characters are auran wakker and Yuna. my friend has compleated this game and he has now got 99,999 health and does 99,999 damage to any fiend. he has also defeated the strongest boss of the game, Penance. Penance has got 13,000,000 health.he and i have got all the aeons including yojimbo, anima and the magus sisters. some people hoped that Tidas would come back in x-2 and all i can say is that
he does. if you talk to Machean in mushroom rock road in chap 1 the leblank mansion in chap3 and zanakand ruins chap 5 you will get a bonus scene in which the faith creates tidas again and you then meet him in Besaid island. this game is better than all the other final fantasy games but i did also enjoy ff 9 that has to be my second favourite. the graphix are amazing so is the fighting music and if no one else likes this game all i can say is that you suck!!!!

Excellent |
| A gamer from Florida, USA says (22/Oct/2004): |
This game is amazing. I never saw myself getting into a playstation video game, but after the first seven hours of non-stop game playing: I was hooked.
The graphics of the game are good, especially with the aeon summoning. I am sure as further ones come out, these will increase in quality also (I have not yet seen X-2, bear in mind).
The music is really cool. I have no problems listening to it, and it does not get old. The fact also that there is a story line behind the entire reason you are playing the game makes it a wonderful thing to do. I can play this game for hours. Well, that was until I reach master seymore... I am *still* trying (day #2) to beat this part... wow. The fact that it is not all super-easy also helps.
I don't like the fact that it is the same monsters over and over again while you are travelling. I would prefer harder, more detailed monsters that were different or maybe less battles or something. It just seems like you fight the same three beasts five times in a row before you get a new set.
Overall, I gave the game a score of 9 because even though it is the best game I have ever really been addicted to (besides Baulder's Gate for the PC), there are still some kinks and some things that I would add/edit/change. However, that does not take at all away from the fact that this is an AWESOME game.

An awesome game! |
| Sniko from Phillipines says (4/Jan/2004): |
Compared to FF8 and 9, FFx was amazing..everything was so upgraded!! I really like the story and how the fighting was put..Has anyone played ffx2 yet?? I have! It is great so far, the battle style is so much fun, with all the dressspheres, etc.. everything goes fast in the battles!! I think everything in both 10 and 10-2 is great! The charecters are full of all kinds of stuff. In ffx2, you only get to play with Yuna, Rikku and a new girl named Paine..Paine is very quiet, but later in the game you soon learn that Paine has a story to all of whats going on... i'm only in chaper 2 but my brother is inchapter 4..but thers alot more chapters to go through, all the chapters also have missions. And the missions is where you travel around and get your spheres. Oh spheres-Yuna, Rikku, and Paine are spherehunters! Trying to find out about the past, and maybe the future, what is to become of Spira. yuna has joined because of Tidus, Rikku started the whole thing and Paine joined because of her past, including that she is one of the last four alive out of the crimsons. The other 3 are Baralai, Nooj, Gippal. These 3 are all leaders of some sort of group, and near the end of chapter 3 and the beginning of chapter 4, all 3 of them disappear. And the end of chapter 3, the VERY end, you finally see Shuyin who is a charecter who resembles Tidus, yet more dangerous. Shuyin is in love with another girl named Lenne, and when you meet shuyin, he thinks you are Lenne because of your songstress dresssphere. It appears to be that Lenne had the same exact outfit-only 1,000 years ago. So shuyin comforts you thinking you are Lenne.

Another great Final Fantasy game!!! |
| gamer from Augusta, Georgia says (6/Apr/2004): |
My opinion is Final Fantasy X is a great game in the Final Fantasy X series! My favorite character in the game is Yuna, & Tidus. The graphics are perfect, the plot is perfect, & very long. I have beat this game, & it was great. The only thing that annoyed me in this game is you have to fight Seymour in this game about four times, the last fight with him though is pretty easy if you have the aeon "Anima". My favorite part of the game is when you fight Jecht, & when Jecht transforms into high summoner Braska's final aeon. My second favorite part in the game is where you have to fight Sin. I also liked the mini games such as Blitzball & training wild Chocobos in the Calm Lands. I already have every single aeon including Anima, Yojimbo, & the Magus Sisters. One of the things I liked about using aeons is teaching them abilities by using items, & highering up their attributes by using spheres. The shpere grid seems complicated at first, but once you get used to it, it is not that hard to use. The last thing I liked about Final Fantasy X is customizing your weapons, & armor. I think anyone who is a Final Fantasy X fan should get this game.

Bet game ever since the dawn of time |
| Fee from UK,newcastle says (2/Sep/2004): |
I started at Final Fantasy X-2 and I didn't have a clue what Yuna ment but then Final Fantay X brightened up my life.I loved every bit.The music,The graphics Everything. It was the best thing ever till I got to Mt gagazet (For people who haven't played it before Mt gagazet i a place in there world,Spira)I loved the Chracters,The only let down i the bit i am stuck on and how the words don't fit in time with the chracter mouth. But after a while you get used to it.This game has just swallowed up my life.It has everything.Action,A kising scene a wedding scene , aeons.Freaks that are practily mad about this game probably wish this world was true. The best thing is BLITZBALL!!!I have played thousands of games.Trust me nobody like it better than me.Have you ever noticed (That is if you have x and x-2)On X you can swim but can't Jump or Climb but in x-2 it i the other way round.Any way I truely recomend thi game above all games. It is the best game from the dawn of time and the bet game of the hitory of the universe. That didn't make much sense but that is how good no...Wait great I think thi game is.

Final Fantacy x, the best game ever! |
| Andrew from happy camp,California,USA says (22/Aug/2002): |
This has very good graphics, especially the Aeons overdrives! It has a very good storyline, and things that you do in the beginning will effect you later on in the game, but tont worry if you miss sometheng because if you do later in the game you can go back and do it again. It is a very long game but that means it will last longer. You get more carachters the further on you are in the game.It also has a lot of minigames, like blitzball or chocoboah riding. In this game most of the carachters have voices. The people who made it did a lot of searching to find the right actors.this game is my best so far.Incase you want to know, the story is about a 17 year old teenager who is a star player at a sport clled Blitzball. Then an evel entaty called sin appears and you and your friend Auron helps you destroy evel fiends until you finally approach sin, and Auron starts talking gibrish and you get sucked into it. After you get out of a tight situation with a race called TheAlBeb you figure out that you are 1000 years in the future but they don't have much technology! Sorry to leave you hanging, but I don't want to give away the rest.

A outstanding blow your mind game! |
| Greg D. from Lake Tomahawk WI, USA says (18/Feb/2003): |
I never played any of the final fantacy games before so one day I went to wal-mart to pic up a new game for playstation. I didn't see anything I liked so I asked the clerk to take alook at final fantacy X. I bought it went home and played it for 9 hours straight I could not believe the story line to it, it was so incredible the graphics were great and the characters were unreal. I ended up playying 56 hours on it and my buddy played for 90 hours. If you enoy playing games that take strategy and thinking this game is for you I give it 10 star if not more

An average game... |
| John from Sacramento, CA U.S. says (17/Jul/2003): |
I know that many fans of the Final Fantasy series were waiting for this game for a long time... but after the long wait, I think Squaresoft could have done a lot better. I'm a long time fan of the Final Fantasy series but I was very disappointed with this game. Please Squaresoft, don't go the way of those game companies that think pretty graphics will sell a game. To me, it seems like this game is mostly about graphics. I don't like the new sphere grid system and there's no world map to wander around like all the other Final Fantasy games. There is an airship, but you don't get to control it. This game is also too linear for me. The aeons (summoned monsters) are okay. They can do a lot of damage later on in the game (over 9999 hit points of damage can be done) but once you summon one, the monster is left to fight the enemies alone. It's cool how you can control it though but still... fighting by itself could get it quickly killed. The story is good though and I don't know why this one gamer on this site said that Tidus and LuLu's names were never mentioned throughout the game. I've heard the other characters say Tidus and Lulu a couple of times... and what's wrong with Wakka's name? Nothing wrong with it. Final Fantasy 7 was and (to many other RPG gamers out there) still is the best Final Fantasy so far. I hope Final Fantasy X-2 will be a lot better.
|
Not that great! |
| Missy from Sacramento, CA U.S. says (27/Jul/2003): |
Coming from an RPG making master called Squaresoft, I was hoping that Final Fantasy X was going to be an awesome game but it's only average at best. Sure there's nice graphics and all but the whole sphere grid system is just plain dumb. The game is also too linear to be considered a Final Fantasy game. No world map, one uncontrollable airship (lame), not much equipment to mess with, and almost constant switching of characters during battle can get very annoying. The story is good though and it's nice to be able to control your summoned monster for a change. Heck, they even level up and learn a different overdrive attack. With all the major changes done to the old battle system of the final fantasy series and world map options though, this game just doesn't feel like final fantasy anymore but a different Sqaresoft game. The game is pretty cheap now but I advise gamers to rent first before buying unless you're a die-hard fan of the series.

Cultual Differences |
| Halfdeaf from Fantasy, TN says (24/Sep/2003): |
Before knocking this game for "bad plot" or "unbelieveable story-line" remember that we are westerners (most of us reading this) and we are not accustomed to so-called Thick Japanese Plot.
I am not going to compare this title to previous Final Fantasy titles because the nature of that comparison is entirely subjective. I don't know how you feel about previous FF titles, nor does it matter.
Final Fantasy X is breathtaking. The best part (or worst part) about this game is that you can beat it no matter what. Basically, you can use any of the characters you wish, they all have strengths and weaknesses. I beat the game in something like 40 hours. It can be done in less time... but I suggest taking your time.
My second time through the game (60+ hours) I chose to go on lots of side-missions and attempt to procure the characters' Ultimate Weapons. Before you can get their Ultimate Weapons, however, you must get a Crest and a Sigil (each cerst and sigil are corresponding to the particular character's zodiac sign).
This, frankly, is a _major_ pain. Also, I found Bitzball to be an equally futile game. It bored me to no end. Fortuantely, playing Bitzball is not required, unless you want Wakka's Ultimate Weapon.
The graphics blew my mind and the movie scenes are top-notch. There are three basic levels of graphics here:
1. Map level - running around before random encounters. These renders are tight, but are only surpassed by the fight and movie renders.
2. Fight level - Fight level renders move more quickly but have INSANE multilayers. The fades and shading renders are not to be believed.
3. Movie level - Um, Wow. Check out the reflection on the characters' irises. (Corneas? Whatever...) Yes, the love story is a little derivative, but who can argue with such BEAUTIFUL renders? The scene where the Sending is performed comes to mind.
All said, I can't complain much about this title. When it comes down to it I felt that the game play was fun, but the difficulty level varied. The fights were either a push-over or they were IMPOSSIBLE. I beat the final boss no sweat and only had one character's Final Weapon.
I can't complain, it held my interest and attention for 100+ hours, twice-though. Just buy it, and wait on X2.
HAVE FUN!

ratings and a few helpful pointers |
| Adam from Maryland! says (21/Nov/2003): |
WOW! This was my first FF game and I fell in love with it! It felt like I was in the game wenever I played & didnt play it. I could play 8 hrs a day and I beart it in 1 week! Other people say its short compared to FF7 but i think its really long... I just have to get FF7!(even if it means that im going to buy a walkthrough & PS1 memmory cartrige with it) I like the game because the characters are cool (but not that preatty) my game skips the part where Tidus and Yuna are in the lake so that really sux! Sum tips are to make yuna, lulu, kimari, and rikku a black mage by using friend spheres when lulu reaches the point on the sphere grid when she learns firaga, waterga, thundaga, and blizzaga. Because yuna can now do major damage and recieve more exp than any1 else she lvls up quickly and my Yuna already has all speres on the sphere grid!(when she attacks with a weapon it does like 500000 damage and when she use magic, its like 999999!) She also has ultima which attacks all enemies. I kinda dont get the ending. FF-2 is also aweasome!

Just Amazing |
| Shan from Dallas, TX. USA says (2/Jul/2004): |
Final Fantasy X is the only FF game I have ever owned. I've played most of them with friends. But I must say, this is the best FF game out of all of them so far. The story is great! And I think that's what really makes you want to play it. You just gotta find out what happens! The graphics are wonderful, a treat for your eyes, especially when it goes 3D.My favorite scene is where they go to Kilika and Yuna sends the dead. The battling system is beyond amazing. It's so easy to use! The sound is great, infact I learned the Hymn on my piano(don't laugh at me, youz!). The characters are great and realistic for once! My favorite character is Auron because he is so mysterious. You don't know much about him, but he sure can kick some butt! Second favorite is Rikku because she can steal things and that really comes in handy! I haven't officially beat the game yet but I've played FFX-2 so the ending is kinda ruined for me. To sum this up, If there are any FF fans out there that have not played this game, GET IT! it's possibly the best FF game out there! To the FFX makers: Thanks for making gaming fun! Loved this game!

this game captivates your imagination, it makes you feel as though you were there |
| tricee from detriot mihigan usa says (6/Aug/2004): |
i have played many games but i must truthfully say that final fantasy 10 is the best i really like role playing games because it makes you feel as though you were there it makes you emotionally bound to the characters yuna with a sweet spirit willing to give her own life to save the people of spira and tidus a very optomistic person always trying to think the best and always helping even though its scary because he cant ever go home rikku so adorable trying to keep her cousin alive even though on the outside the albed look bad they really have good intentions when it comes to saving the summoners lives wakka although really silly he has a heart of gold and he is very supportive of yunas decision even though it is a sad one and there is lulu so strong and kind of and advice giver even though sometimes she seems very hard she still is very soft in the inside and kind with a very good heart i love kimahri he is so protective and always there for yuna he is someone you can count on always and auron at first i thought of him as a leader but he kind of a quiet person but he makes you feel like every thing will be okay he is always one step ahead if not just for these characters you should love this game but if you are still not convinced the graphics are a real great step from the last nine final fantasy the storyline has always been good but now its even better in this game and the side games like chocobo racing and blitzball a very creative game when i first saw it i totally wished it was real the only thing i dont like is the annoying constant fights but you can over look it because of all the other great attributes of the games with the great characters that make you like you are really there the great graphics that are not perfect but are realistic and the beautiful but emotinal storyline i rate this game number one in my book

Such a great game! |
| Moo from Norwich, England says (17/Aug/2004): |
This game IS great ive completed it once and i just started again and at time of writing i am on lady yunalesca. I suggest that if u complete it once and havnt done everything you should start again and get anima etc. On the second time, I realised there is So much more to do. I liked X-2 but it wasnt as good because i loved the character switch and in X-2 it is basically just a big side quest which was very dissapointing... But hey this game is definately worth playing and i believe it is platinum now so it even better! The blitzball is also pretty good way better than it is on X-2. ALSO the FMVs are very good and i love the kiss scene with tidus and Yuna :) (not that i get turned on or anything....) anyway its a great game so buy it and play it! I think its equally as gud as 7,8 and 9 (although i havnt completely completed 8 yet im stuck on wotshername adel?) anyway i feel like geek now so im gonna stop but BUY THIS GAME.. Why the ****s it gotta be 200 words? ive gone on for ages!

The epitome of rpg greatness |
| Andrew McColl from Bangor Northern Ireland says (26/Feb/2004): |
The title explains it all. FFX is the greatest rpg to ever be created. The graphics are definitive and show Squaresofts true colours. The new conditional based battle system allows novices and veterans alike to enjoy the countless random battles that have annoyed alot of people in previous Final Fantasy games. This time squaresoft have included voice overs, a new concept to ff games. There are thousands of lines of dialogue included so alot of the game is similar to watching a movie. The charecters all have very distintive styles such as warrior, thief and summoner. The level up system is brilliant. You get levels and spend them on moving around a giant grid. You then activate nodes that have stats such as HP + 200 or strength + 4. There all also loads of secrets to be discovered and mini games to play. The game itself runs very smoothly and the difficulty curve is just right. The world map is gone and replaced with a location menu allowing you to easily choose where to go. Every one should own this game, it is a true rpg (finally). Now all you need to do is buy it and even possibly FFX-2. Enjoy.

The first and best FF game I have ever played!!!!!! |
| A gamer from Concord, North Carolina, USA says (27/Nov/2003): |
It rules! It may be a bit easy but its got a good plot. I haven't beaten it, but dude it's awsome! All most all my friends can back me up on that one. The chacters may dress wierd, but who cares? Not me! I would reccomend it to anyone.

The best game other than final fantasy x-2!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Tidus from ontario canada says (4/Dec/2003): |
this game is the best!!!!! the graphics and everything are wicked. So far Im in the process of downloading the music from it. the music and characters are exceptionaly well done. My fav character is Yuna
becasue she is pretty and very coool. Most of my names for things are Tidus cause i look a lot like him. Everything is good about this game. I like Yuna being a summoner because she can summon any aeon she wants when in battle. I would definetly recomend this game to any one who is looking for the best RPG out there.
The cool thing is that there arnt many of the characters who have the same type of weapons. they all have differnt types of weapons
like Yuna has a staff/rod weapon whille Tidus has a sword with a small double balde on it. Rikku has claws of steel for weapons. Auron has a sword and is the only other person that uses a sword
lulu uses a small doll and black magic. wakka uses a cool blitz ball for a weapon.
People if you dont get this game, you would be a disgrace becasue this game is the 2nd best game. FFX-2 is still better but you get the point. Everyone get this game its the best!!!!!
