All you amatuers out there who think this game is rubbish and what not, are obviously mistaken. The games got a great soundtrack on it, what with Saliva, Ja Rule, Moby, etc. Give the makers credit where credit is due guys. They put a $#< remove me > at !in Shelby, GTO, and $#< remove me > at ! load of other suped up cars in, that would make ur mouths droul. Ya, the graphics are ok, not too many cars to choose, but the Underground story line is pretty OK. Aside the fact that they could have put some other missions in, like being the driver of a bankrobbery, the story has great cities to drive in.

test drive is the shyt i dont know what these other dumb lil kids are talkin about that it sux, they think it does cuz they suck at racing games. for 1 every1 loves muscle cars with any paint job u want and the handlin is easy as hell when u get the hang of it. Take my opinion rent it like it.

I spent five $#< remove me > at !ing dollars to buy it new and its still a piece of trash to me. Yeah, if this was your first racing game, I can understand, but there are alot better racing games out there. Especially Gran Turismos' 1 through 3, two of which are for PSX. I can see why this game was threwn away as soon as most consumers bought it. Take out the checkpoints and it would be alot better, probably a 4/10, still not decent.

As realistic as it may look, it is just a big lure for you to buy the game. Sure, they'll put some pretty cool cars on the game,one of them being my personal favorites, but there's no car damage! If you want a game with a whole lot of cool cars and like to race and just cruise the cities, get midnight club, street racing. There's all of test drive, and then some! Test Drive, once you're done with the game give to someone else because you've played to many crapy games.

when you think of atari, frogger and astroids come to mind. i could have had more fun with either of those games. except for an excellent soudtrack and pong to keep the mind occupied during the load time, this game was a total let down. it doesn't deserve to have the "test drive" name. the check points ruin the game play. when in first place,if you run out time, thats it, start over. the story line is completey unbelievable, the handling is made for five year olds, and i couldnt stand to play it for more than two hours. i can handle the fact that the cars are indestructable with no damage what so ever, but i can't handle the fact that you race five other people and the cops get you and only you. the cops touch your car four times, and you are busted, what the heck is that? the handicap is set up for a small child, but the soudtrack is targeted at teens, who are they selling this to? i took "test drive" out of my ps2, and put test drive 5 (psx) in. without the check points, this game MIGHT be tolerable, but i doubt it. you might disagree with me, but if you are above the age of ten, and have at least 5 years of gaming experience, you will throw this game across the room and wished you'd spent your money on stuntman.

First off: THE GAME IS EXCELLENT and well worth your hard earned cash!!
I don't know what happened here, I mean a few exeptions aside this game just gets moderate reviews all over the net?? I fail to see why that is? This game has it all and more:
Graphics: While the car models (of course) aren't up to Gran Turismo standards, the resolution and the texture clarity certainly are! Just show it to your x-box owning mates and see the looks on their faces... This game is a technical marvel! There's no flickering or aliasing whatsoever, the whole thing just looks like a high end pc game forever running smooth at a rocksolid 60 fps.
Sound: authentic engine sounds!! Just wait till you hear the roar of the Ford "gone in 60 seconds" Mustang! Add to that a killer soundtrack: Moby, JXL, Ja Rule etc..
So again: Nothing but excellence here.
Gameplay: Carhandling is spot-on!! let no man tell you otherwise. The handling can best be described as a mixture of Gran Turismo and Driver. The only thing that I can come up with to say something negative is the loadtimes, yes, they are long and plentyful but the races are well worth the 25 sec. wait
Overall: Why the media discarded this game the way they did is mystery to me...My guess is that it has something to do with marketing because believe me: Testdrive Overdrive way outclasses games like Burnout which although it's not a bad game, received much more credit than it rightfully deserved...
But hey, don't take my word for it, give this a rental and judge for yourself!!

The game is fun but there were some things I didn't like. First, the cops only chase you and leave the other racers alone. Second, the handicap is amazing seen as how you can catch up to everyone else even if there a lap ahead of you, and if your in front they're always right on your tail. But in the end all the good features of the game cancel out the bad parts. There is a good selection of cars and a better selection of races. The mix of circuit, point-to-point, and drag races is a good improvement from the last few test drives. The thing that seperated it from all the other racing games, though, was the story mode. Most racing games aren't as fun after you race over and over again. This feature kept me from getting bored. The graphics are another good thing. It's cool the way you can paint your car chrome and all the surroundings reflect off it. Overall, its a very good game.

First thing, the music was the best I've ever heard in a video game. The graphics are alright, its not Grand Turismo sort of speak, but it wasnt bad. The controls were real good once you get the hang of them, fast moving, cars everywere, its just more competition. What this game did need, was some more movie scenes, and a better character development. I dont know about you guys that played the game, but I still havent seen a dodge charger with a motor sticking out like it was on the cover, if someone knows how to get it e-mail me and let me know. If the game doesnt have a car that looks like that, it blows even more than I thought. later

I'm a huge race fan and have probably played them all. This game was a big disappointment! The graphics are alright but who gives a crap about graphics, its all about the game play in which this game had none! The controls were garbage, you basically had no control over the car and the cars look junky. Youd be better off driving a dumpster down the street with a rear spoiler and some gino paint. The pong game was probably the best part of the game except it just masks the real problem, the slow loading times! The handicap in this game is amazing too. No matter how far ahead you get someones always on your arss! BS! Well overall this game blows! But you dont have to take my word for it, spend 5 bucks and rent it and amazed!

Test Drive will be one of the best driving games ever made for the PS2. It brings in some of the fastest street cars. The hardness of the game on a scale of 1-10 would be a 5 in the beginning then a 8 later on. The sound track on the game is really good. The pong mini game was a great idea cause now u get to do something during the loading sequence besides sit there and watch screen with a picture on it. The graphics in this game were great. Get this game if u like racing games.
