This is the best 2 [layer racer on the PS2 |
| rahnh from San Diego, CA says (2/Jan/2003): |
I think that NFS HP2 is the best two player racer on the PS2. I own both it and GT3 and GT3, by far has better visuals, tuning, etc. However, the fun factor lies in HP2, whereas if I'm behind in a race I may take an alternate route, unlike GT3 where four seconds can make a world of difference. Hot pursuit mode definitely rules (as does the lap knockout, single race, or knockout competition). The graphics and gameplay are by far the best that EA has ever come out with (I've owned all of the other NFS titles and I think that they lacked SPEED). As mentioned in other reviews, it is unfair to compare the two games, both are well worth owning, and it will all depend on what type of racing you're in the mood for.

Great game!!!!!! |
| Ralph from Miami, Florida says (31/Dec/2002): |
Ok. I know u ppl are comparing this game to Gran Turismo 3. I was actually a big fan of gran turismo 3. The only thing was damage. Gran Turismo never had damage. I like to see the car get beat up and I don't even have to pay for it. Gran Turismo os very realistic, but seriously. One BMW?! What is that? and the lisences irratate me. I dont like to be having to get a lisence just to enter a race. HP2 is great! I like all of the cars, and the tracks. cop mode is annoying when they catch you, but i have fun with it anyways. GT#-9. HP2-10 thats it. get this game over GT3. sorry Sony. EA made a better game. :). email me if you have any questions or comments

Need for speed hot pursuit 2 |
| Kevin Hacker from Hillsboro, Ohio, U.S.A. says (28/Dec/2002): |
I just got this game and cant seem to quit playing it. The graphics are unreal as well as the game itself. It truely is a great game. You actually feel like you are in the car, you feel the speed, jumps and the crashes. The different tracks and races are also very neat. It truely beats anything i have ever played before. Its neat when you can either be the cop, or run from the cops or just go out racing without any cops to chase you. Its just a great game, and i think that they did a great job in making this game.

are you people blind!!! |
| natmaster from Paris,USA says (28/Dec/2002): |
You cannot compare Gran Turismo 3 to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit at all. They are two very differnt games. In GT3 for instance you dont get chased by the police and yes it is more realistic, but Need for Speed was made so you could have fun with your gaming not spent 2 hours making adjustsments to your car like in GT3! Overall they are way differnt if you look at the game statisticts. I really do like NfS much better than GT3. If GT3 is so realistic then why can the Suzuki Pike speed version( the car) go 900mph if you adjust it right. That is immpossible in real life!!! So i give this 10 out of 10 in my opinion

EA Games zooms to the finish line ahead of GT3, Test Drive, and Burnout. |
| Loco from Jersey City, NJ says (27/Dec/2002): |
This game is awsome, fast, quick, exciting, and never gets boring. The features that I really liked on this game were the shortcuts, and the matrix thing where u could look behind your car to see cops chasing you. The graphics are very good looking, but not as good as GT3. All of the cars look detailed and great. The also handle realisticly and decent. There isn't one car that is too slow, but there are very fast cars. The only part of this game that fustrates is the A.I. racers and course designs. Sometimes I find myself crashing a lot when turning into some shortcuts and the traffic kind of collides with you. The courses look great and detailed, but they don't compare to Test Drive's course in scenery and look. This game beats all of the other racers in the fun aspect. It's funner that GT3 and Test Drive. The sound is definitely a plus. Engines sound rugged, swift, and arcadish. I like the crashes too, but they get to be choppy at times. The sound of the horns and sirens and police cars are great. The soundtrack is kind of weak to me. EA didn't get that Road Rash 3-D type of soundtrack. Some of the songs sound like something off of a NASCAR game. Anywayz, the gameplay, sound, graphics, 2-player mode, and championship, and etc. are all above average. This game does sometimes leave you feeling that more could've been added like upgraded car parts, course design, and jumping on top of opponents' cars off a ramp, but the game is better than I thought it would be. Last, EA really did some homework and figured out how to make a good racer, but it won't be as classic as the old Need For Speed series.

So close to perfection.Wait till HP3! |
| Is it required? from Dallas,Tx USA says (27/Dec/2002): |
I have no idea why you people compare it to GT3! Why would you want over 200 cars when 3/4 of the cars suck!I have certainly played this game longer than GT3. I only played Gt3 for about 2 days before finally quitting on it because it was too hard. While HP2 is so much easier starting out! Where in Gt3 can you get in a cop chase with a helicopter dropping explosives? Where in Gt3 can go off road in a 550 Barchetta? The graphics are much better in Hp2 than in GT3. GT3 had too many jaggies in it! Graphics in hp2 are better than gt3. But overall the game is perfect almost...

THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL!! |
| Abdul from Toronto Canada says (27/Dec/2002): |
This is a great game and i think its sort of like gt3 but....this game is the best nfs game yet its realistic and the pursuits is a fun ad on to the game however i felt that the car detailing could have been a bit more realist for exemple the for mustang stv looks good at the menu eh?? but when u actully play the game the back of the car looks like an old porshe with a huge wing!! and the graphics on the tracks could have been a bit more better however i give this game an 8/10 i u disagree with me please e-mail me and tell me why?

Ugh |
| A gamer from nf says (26/Dec/2002): |
NFS is a good game set out to accomplish what car games should -simulate "action movie" dynamics. Neither GT3 nor NFS is a driving simulator, as when I hit a wall at 150 mph I don't blow to pieces. Now if the next Gran Turismo did that, maybe I wouldn't drive my car around the walls of the track and still win the race.

Awesome |
| Zack from Tucson, Az USA says (26/Dec/2002): |
Well, EA has done it again! Unbelievable! great soundtrack, awesome frame-rate, loads of options, pursuits are more challenging, spike-strips, helicopter pursuits, cars slicker, dual-shock controller makes it more intense, fine race tracks! Top notch game, well worth your time! Very few of my games that I rate make the 10 star salute, but if one does, be sure to pick it up!

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 |
| Trexxx062301 from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA says (18/Dec/2002): |
I thought this game is incredible. Graphics are awesome. You really feel the speed. Grand Turismo has a little comp in the racing game category!!!
|
People, what are you thinking? Are you blind? Comparing apples to oranges? |
| The Ronnerman says (17/Dec/2002): |
Fun factor is high but not realistic AT ALL!! HP2 IS a good game. It's fun and has a few cars GT3 doesn't that I really like, i.e. CLK-GTR. I also like HP mode and graphics are decent, but You ppl need to go back and watch replays of Gran Turismo 3, b/c that game looks way better and has more realistic handling and tuning. That is what REAL racing is like. HP2 is just an arcade racer, Gran (NOT GRAND, you idiots) Turismo 3 is a SIM-U-LATOR!! That is a fact. It means it's designed to be realistic. The ppl who say HP2 has better graphics or calls GT3 "Grand" Turismo obviously hasn't played the game and therefore can't make a proper judgement, or are total idiots. The handling in HP2 isn't realistic at all. You can't take a corner at 200mph like that, not even in THOSE cars. The models are attractive and the game IS fun, but don't compare it to a sim racer that is so obviously better, unless you're blind or 10yrs old or have never driven a car in real life b4. Look at the sales, ppl!! Until GTA3 came along, Gran Turismo 3 was the best selling game for PS2, something that will never happen with HP2! If you're thinking of buying this game, it's a go! But don't expect realism or anything similar to GT3.

Better than GT3? |
| Tim from Colleyville, Texas, USA says (17/Dec/2002): |
This game is great, but I wouldn't say better than GT3..... Gt3 offers a more realistic drive, and driftin' around those corners is more fun. I have to say though, the Viper NFS edition and the Z06 NFS edition are simply fantastic....LOVE the sounds

Best Racing Game To Date No Lie! |
| Cody from USA says (12/Dec/2002): |
I cant see where people think this game is crap. I mean how could you. Lets just say i bought this game right when it came out and its still my favorite. Now lets get to the actual game.
Gameplay - The gameplay is great with over 45+ cars and many tracks. I dont get why people compare this to Grand Turismo. For example people wine about how there isnt 150+ cars in this game. Well for one half of these cars dont suck like in grand turismo, and number 2 who wants to make that many when maybe 1 person out of 10 would unlock them all. people just need to stop complaining. The game has minor slowdown is none at all. The game always runs smooth and never lacks the excitmeant of being slamed around by cops or on the other hand doing the slamming. There are many different modes to choose from including *Hot Persuit* *Knockout* *Single Race* and many more. The game takes a different aproch by making the player complete certain objectives in order to unlock more as well as cars and tracks. Its called a grid and there is one for just racing and hot persuit. When you are playing you have a great feeling of speed, its about the same feeling as Test Drive if you have played it. And for all you people think that this game is boring, just wait until you get the Ferrarri F50 get ready for some fun!
Graphics - In my opinion this game has better graphics than any racing game to date. Everything is very smooth and there are no jaggies. The cars are very detailed right down to the little guy inside shifting. People who say the games graphics suck are eather mad because they dont want a racing game any better than Grand Turismo or there just mad because they cant beat it.
Controls - The games controls are top notch. The cars handle very percise and you never have any problems with them. The cars handle very realisticly but yet not enough to make you slow down to 10mph just to make a turn. And if your having any trouble with the controls just pick Extreme other than Normal and your problems will be solved.
Sound - I love it. Every car sounds differently from the Horns to the cops sirens everyhting is crystal clear. If you turn the music off you can hear the glass shatter as you hit a wall or in other words as you force the cop into a tree or on comming traffic at about 150+.
Overall - This game is a great buy for all ages. I recommend it for anyone who is tired of a normal racing game and wants some major action. So go out and buy it aand see what i mean, trust me you wolnt be dissopointed.

Really good game |
| Mr. Atchison from Odessa, Texas, USA says (6/Dec/2002): |
I think this is a great game, and I agree with everyone who is fed up with people comparing it (and every other car game for that matter), to Gran Turismo 3. I truly like both games, but it's like comparing Super Mario to Grand Theft Auto. The game has a nice selection of cars and a really fast pace. Overall, I really enjoyed the game. Remember, they're not trying to make a Gran Turismo knockoff, but rather a different genre of racing game.
|
Excellent game. |
| A gamer from STL, MO/USA says (2/Dec/2002): |
I'm in love with HP2. Enough said. However, those of you who think it's more realistic than Gran Turismo 3 need a reality check. Where in Hot Pursuit 2 can you change the settings on a car dampers and traction system? That's what I thought. Nowhere. HP2 is a meat-&-potatoes racecar game, while GT3 is more geared for the Le Mans/Touring car enthusiast; in other words, the REAL racers. This is not a knock down... just an eye-opener.

Very Good |
| Musa from R.W.P says (29/Nov/2002): |
Its the Best game in NFS Series Made By Electronic Arts. Its better than GT3 Due to its Stunning Depth in Graphics. It dont have as much cars as GT3 Has but still it can beat GT3 in Race. Anyway Race lovers have to buy this one. I recommend that u Must Buy This.

Its a dream come true |
| Fawaz El hin from Amman, Jordan says (27/Nov/2002): |
I played almost every racing game ever released from rally to racing in rings and i alawys admired the need for speed editions and i thought that hot pursuit is another one that aint different than the rest, but am wrong the graphics gets the details and the handling of cars is like the real thing espically from stop position u feel that u've lost control of the car, other things are the sound of the engine its the original voice and please pay attention to 360 modena and hear it rors just wow. all i wanna say that its a very interesting game to play

NFS on PS2 and this is all?? |
| Michael Duffy from Seattle, USA says (25/Nov/2002): |
A game worth having, but I wanted one worth stealing money from your grandma for. Maybe I am spoilt, maybe I expect too much, but I did think that on a new console the NFS team would have brought out something that far surpassed it's previous games all of which were great. Great graphics?? OF course!!! You have a new console with a new graphics engine! Too many people are praising what should have been a no brainer. It is the evolution of complexity and driver option and re-playability that needs to evolve. As a game that is geared for 2 player it was very limited with it's two player options. Don't get me wrong it is a top 10 game but come on guys lets not golf clap every game that comes out because a new console made it "look" good, we want cutting edge from the companies that we know can produce it. I dont want to say, "yeah good game". I want to wipe the bugs from my teeth as I howl and scream with awe and when I finish a lap actually find myself reaching for my virtual seatbelt. Take this as a motivational speech rather than a complaint coz I am a loyal EA fan.

Better than GT3 |
| Jesse Cataldo from Brewster, New York, USA says (24/Nov/2002): |
This game is the best!! I just rented it from Blockbuster and have played it for about 4 hours! This game is far more realistic than Gran Turismo 3. Yes GT3 may have slightly better graphics but if I remember I couldn't see a driver behind the wheel or any wiper blades moving when the car goes through a wet spot. In Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 the driver actually steers the car and will look back if you hit the R1 button and also you can sometimes see the driver shifting up and down through the gears!! He will also honk the horn. The gameplay is easy and all the cars are better than my expectations. This is a must buy game for any one who likes speed or if you love GT3 or just like racing games.

It keeps driving way from it`s opponents! |
| Andreas from Linkoping, Sweden says (22/Nov/2002): |
I`m glad they kept on doing the NFS series though I am a big fan of it! Ok, I`m missing the old videos and car compare but overall this is way much better then everthing else on the market!
