The best game i have played n a long time. |
| badsport from U.SA. , California says (23/Mar/2003): |
i have played two another age but it isn't as good as three. The arena is upgraded. Now you can play two on two.the only other game that is as good as this is Red faction.i loved the game because of the new guns and the graphics.the hardest part is when you have to destroy the massive weapon. But they give you 80,000 credits.which is alot concidering most missions they only give about 30,000 credits i think that the games new back guns bite besides the long plasma cannon.

AC3 IS TEH BEST IN TEH SERIES!!!! |
| Kadafi from Sandersville, Georgia, USA says (21/Feb/2003): |
Ac3 can be described in one word: awsome. Sweet new parts (LINEAR CANNON OWNZ JOO!!!) but i also noticed a bit of a flaw...the game doesn't really have enough good energy weapons. all the good right arm weapons and shell based ('cept for the karasawa but the energy drain on it really hurts a light or mid-wieght ac's performance if ya like to run circles around enemies and blow 'em to shreds like i do ^_^ ). I also miss those back mounted pursuit missiles from AC2AA (i'm sure alot of you remember 'em...the sweetest toy a guy could ever have). Some of the missions weren't as good as the AC2AA missions....ya it was all kind of land based...you never got to do battle high up in the skies with an enemy AC or boost from transport to transport while tryin to shoot 'em down. Still, the improved graphics, music, the drop weapon/extension feature, the pleasure gained from beating down Ace and becoming the arena champ then conquering Ace and BB in extra arena makes up for it. All-in-all this game could've been better but its still the best in the series yet! Now i just can't wait for the expansion, AC3: Silent Line to come out >:) . "See you in the arena, Raven..."
|
Best one yet |
| A gamer from Miami, Florida, USA says (18/Feb/2003): |
this game is the best in the series (though i havent played armored core PP or armored core MOA).true, it does have a lot of parts from the armored core 2AA and when a lot of missles are shot the game slows down. But so what. the pros make up for that a lot more. for one, the extra arena. and second, they have the consort missions.
|
sweeeeeeeeeeet |
| Jad from Ohio says (13/Feb/2003): |
Ac3 i have to say is awsome. The looks of the acs are alot better and so are the looks of the mission areas. I also like how much smoother the game runs compared to Ac2. The game play is alot faster too. And the team arena (extra arena) is just fun. To me the only problem is that is hard to get a four player game unless you do all this by hooking up two tv's and ps2. And it would just sweet if it was online with harder levels. I personaly thought that the controler was easy to defeat. But all in all i love it.
|
WOO HOO!!!! THIS GAME ROCKS!!! |
| Spike from Durham, NC says (6/Feb/2003): |
I don't care what anyone else says. This game is TIGHT! The graphics are a lot better, and the music is cooler. Now you can drop arm parts, and blow up the ground, and buildings! THIS IS OFF THE HOOK!
|
BEST DAMN GAME! |
| Hello from Atlanta,Georgia says (2/Feb/2003): |
Well first things first. THIS GAME KICKS ASS! It, to me is the best damn AC game yet. I'm not the best at the game i admitt but i still think the game is awesome. The graphics are better and the new parts are very cool. To me the bes way to keep your AC fit is to keep it at mid or lightweight. I have a seriou problem of gong over board and just decking my AC with the strongest weapons, but hey no ones perfect. Anyway this is a tight ass game. And personally i think anyone wit a PS2 should own AC3 and if not atleast An AC game. Peace out yall.

To Sketchey |
| Virus from Califonia says (30/Jan/2003): |
You can be air born and fire back weapons. Just get the OP-Intensify and destroy both pieces of the Massive MT, GOOD LUCK!! I know I sorta had a hard time doing it, Just get the Liner Cannon and Karasava and that thing goes down :-).
|
My kind o frigen game |
| Sketchey from Urbana, Oh USA says (21/Jan/2003): |
I love this game and all of the series. I personally have beeten every single one and still love to play it. Ac3, there is only a couple of problems that I dont like about it. First u cant use ac2 or any old game saves on it, second is u dont get all of the human plus upgrades, like overweight mechs, and the ability to use back cannons while airborne. But I still love to play this game over and over. If there is anyone that wants to talk to me about this game just email me. Ill help ya with anything that I can help with. But as it standz right now, armored core is the best series out there.

A game that I will still play when I am 70. |
| Kirill from Kansas City says (19/Jan/2003): |
Armored Core needs several improvements. I feel that several important aspects of the game have bin ignored. It seems to me that the makers of armored core just want to stuff the game with AC parts thinking that that will make it all better. Well… yes and no. These are areas that need to be improved on.
1. Better missions. (larger more interesting areas of combat) ex: a huge transport ship in the sky
2. More diverse objectives. I noticed that missions since Armored Core 1 have juristically degraded in quality and variation. The missions nowadays include only one objective and that is to destroy. I am ok with that but there should also be missions like recover capsule or defend the flying fortress or several objectives in one mission.
3. More environment interaction ex: exploding buildings and chunks of ground able to be blown apart
2. Online capability
3. Opposing ACs not cheating during missions and running out of energy and ammo like there supposed to do. Not a major problem but gets irritating
Armored Core is a game that I will still be playing when I am 70. Hope they don’t ever stop making it otherwise I just might have to play the old ones.

Improved |
| Berlappen says (8/Jan/2003): |
AC was one of my first games for ps1 and one of my favorite all time games. I mastered the first ones and when i got my ps2 i was a little disappointed in AC2, cause it seemed slower then the originals. But this one kicks ass just like the oldies, but much better with droppage of weapons and extension boosters. I must say im glad they even included all the cheats in this one like the others, but.....i liked the -50,000 way, :)

Game Is Very Sweet |
| ShadowSlayer from Indiana says (7/Jan/2003): |
I agree with many people on this game. The graphics are far better in my opinion than ac2 or ac2 ng. And i also agree that madhatter should play the game before he judges because almost all of the parts were different i admit i turn off the music but who cares do you buy the friggin game for the music? Heck no! not online so what its great single player i love i especially the new drop feature to make ur core faster. Graphics are awesome teh new color system is bad and the addition of the new extensions insides and everything has made this gaem come far from the original. i don;t know about the rest of you but i cannot wait for the next ac game to come.
|
It was completely awesome is all I can say. |
| MechGamer from Norfolk, Virginia says (7/Jan/2003): |
Armored Core 3 was way better than the first ones espically arena combat I mean that just kicked major tail. The AC drop part option is a great option because cycling through empty weapons can waste needed precious time in a hard mission. They re-did the graphics with a new engine which made it better and the opening scene well that was just a tidbit of how well this game kicks butt. The new parts looked better than the old ones and seeing Valkeryie and Ace again was like a flashback if you played the old ones. Only problem I really saw was the missles slowing down and the fact that they shouldnt have dropped the Samurai Sword Arm Weapons from Armored Core 2. This game is for people who are looking for massive action and those who enjoy making awesome AC's. I use parrying blades and laser blades thats all I need to whomp my missions then again this game you need to pratice A LOT. For those who havent gotten good at it but own it I say just use versus mode to practice until you actually have a combat style for taking on missions. Get over heavy AC's they get dull use mid-weight and light if you need a challenge (keeping them within the weight limit of the legs of course)to keep the game interesting.

TO A GAMER SOMEWHERE IN FLORIDA |
| Fuse from USA says (3/Jan/2003): |
First of all I think AC3 is a great game, I have played AC2 another age which was good but this version has much more to offer. First off the parts look much cooler along with the graphics and the inviroment. Second I loved the music and if madhatter hated it so much he should of just turned the music off. To the point, to gamer in florida to answer your complant, if you didn't like the difficultly you could have not put the dificultly so low and if it was at it's highest, use a weaker mech or don't use consorts. I think that this game is so custimisable that anyone can change it to fit there needs. And lastly the game has great replay value, Especialy if you have a friend or sibling with their own account in the game. THe versus options are great.

The game rocks, no matter what "reviewers" say. |
| A gamer from New York, USA says (3/Jan/2003): |
As you all know Madhatter here has dissed this game big time..wich we all know is a load of crap. This game is the best yet, I agree on one thing Madhatter, they should have net play. Other than the "net play" issue the game kicks ass. The vast amount of weapons and guns, legs, extensions, and all the parts you can unlock by playing good. Now there are knew parts and plenty of them. Ok now I agree they could have more cores but really if your smart, that isnt a drawback at all. Now personally I think the missions are a tad bit easy but its good how it can get hard later. Heres a hint for people who cant do missions well.. win at the arena! Its very easy to get loads of cash I mean i moved to section D right away when I first played and had lots of money for weapons, and arms, ect. This is for all you people who give bad reviews (note: this is for some) Just becuase you suck at the game doesnt mean its bad, it means you suck and you shouldnt bother. From what I see this game rocks and theres only one drawback as I listed earlier. But theres something else im gonna list that I enjoyed greatly.. Valkyrie! The 3rd ranked AC from the first Armored Core, But Ace, of course is around as well. So for all of you people who can actually play and understand the controlls and possible stratagies, play on untill you make the ultimate AC!!

but... but... but... BOOM! |
| qwee from Nowheresvilleton(OK), USA says (26/Dec/2002): |
First things first. madhater, obviously, you didn't like the game. that, or you wanted to piss people off. either way... it's simple. you suck. now that that's out of the way... so they didn't bring it online. big f*ck!ng deal. game still kicks ass. second: i love, i mean LOVE the cover core for this game. and the parts are not bad at all. my only problem with the game, that has lasted from the beginning, is the lack of the 'uber-assualt' (actually, i prefer the term of 'limit exceed', or something like that) basically, all weapons go off at once. fancy shmancy kills. course, there'd have to be a huge drawback. but meantime... back to business. the EO was a nice touch, having never really used overboost, i immediately adopted this. the ability to have two blades, or two guns was nice too. the blades were what i stuck with. and the more specialized painting... the game, overall, was more user friendly. apparently, madhater LIKES getting his ass kicked in by giant robots... *speshul massage*-- this game is exactly what i've come to expect from the AC series. yes, it's more of the same, but it's kept us all comming back, hasn't it? from the original, to this one. and i'll be back for the next one. and i can't wait for them to create an 'actual' AC game. imagine, sending mail to other AC pilots... being the top ranked pilot in your area... going on coordinated missions with other pilots... *drools-- swims to shore* back to business. the graphics were beautiful. the music was genius. reminds me of the old days, with a new beauty of a Megaman game. How can the levels suck? proper paint job, a stealth pack... (haven't beat it yet, assuming there's still one there) (just got it yesterday, maybe halfway through)the default buttons are the same, which is fine by me. no serious learning to do. if the 'fun factor' exists, it's somewhere around life support for the lazy person w/o health problems. like i said, more of the same. a little easier though. i've not died but a few times, as opposed to five by the seventh mission. the ending game/gameover sequence has a nice touch to it. hell. the game IS a nice touch.

Aw inspiring |
| Aaron from Morganton NC, USA says (23/Dec/2002): |
Hey, madhatter, first off you are truly and I do mean from the bottom of my heart with sincerirty an idiot. I mean really what'd you do see the title on a release list and decide to write a review? Do us all a big favor and at the very least look at the back of the box next time. I have played (and beat the crap out of) all but two of the Ac games. The only ones I have not played are Ac2A.A and M.O.A. As for your overweight complaint. You can do it still. You'll be slow as molasses on a winter day (probably like you are irl both physically and mentally). And it encourages ingenuity. I have six different Acs (I used two files) and all of them are distinctly different. And I still have more ideas for Cores.... (I just don't have the memory card space to put them all in) The Arena was easy yes. Until you fight Ace, and Exile. BB the first go around with him he was a wimp. The "Ilink" feature your talking about is the ability to use different Ps2s and copies of Ac3 games to play without splitting up the screens so get your periphals (which incase you do not know what that word means here is a definition) aka add ons straight. The missions sadly are easy until you go through with the intensify part on. Then the AI seems to gain 20 more points on the Iq chart (which is 20,000 more than we can say for Hatter) which I thought was, odd to say the least. Go fight Thunder House without INTENSIFY equiped and fight him after you put it on and you'll see what I mean. And before anyone says for the Arena I just back into a corner with a heavy Ac no, I do not. I use an Ac I call Lucky VII which is a fast human leg type armed with a 500 round machine gun on its right arm a flame thrower on the left arm with the med missile on the back with the four missile extension part. My other fav Ac is Spectre which is even faster than that... (has a movement rate of 630) and is using the 100 round machine gun with my favorite laser blade the moonlight. The only time I use the heavy Acs are on missions like the Destroy massive Mt mission or "Investigate Water Swells" because for those missions unfortunatly you need the massive firepower. The weapons have not changed much but the other little extras make it so that old weapon formulas do not matter. (like the External orbit weapons on the Cores) The game runs much more smoothly than Ac2 which was a vast improvement on its predessors (the ones that came before it for those of you with the brain power equal to madhatter's) The machine gun arms are just as cheap as they used to be though... (which is how I opened up on Ace and beat him) Exile though, man that was one heck of a fight. There unfortunatly I had to use my heavy Core and back myself up against a wall and use grenades... Thanks to that stealth extension he uses so well. I like the option for choosing your firing rate on some of the arms great bonus. Anyway I still need to find the Kawasawa rifle, the legs Exile uses and the stealth extension. The INTENSIFY part rules though, because personally I do not like the idea of dying ten times with -50,000 credits its not in my nature to lose on purpose... Anyways a great game, that I'd buy (and did buy) way before I bought FF10 (which because of that stupid orb system made it the worst FF ever). I enjoyed the game and anyone who has not played it yet and is reading this go out and buy it now! If you don't have a PS2 go out buy one and buy this game. It definatly rests among the best aw inspiring Ps2 games ever.

Overal a fine game |
| Bob Robert from Michigan USA says (21/Dec/2002): |
The sound effects are a big improvement over ac2. I love the walking quadrapedal legs it is much better than the old sliding ones. Graphics have improved slightly; gamplay seems more realistic.... Building a formidable AC is an interesting challenge. One of the best intro movies ever! THE Lamest ending movie of all time! Also in keeping with an apparent theme of these ac games, you will have a mission were u go in, the briefing is like," go investigate dangerous area" you enter the mission and giant bugs crawl out and shoot at you and explode when u shoot them! Then the radio comes on and they say," whats going on here? We will investigate!" but u hear no more of it! These games need a more in depth story line. A story line that can be altered by your actions and what missions you select would improve the game considerably. Also I am disappointed at the fact that u cannot fire large back mounted cannons while using bipeds, without having to stop. That limits you to missiles for the most part.... The AI players in the arena can use them though.... Anyway this game is a fine addition to the ac series and I look forward to the next installment.
|
Madhater. you obviously didnt play this game |
| Campin Carl from Btown says (19/Dec/2002): |
Ac3 is alot different than Ac2. Graphics are better, gameplay is tighter and faster just to name a few. Your upset about the loss of overweight? then you really shouldnt play the game because its cheating if you use it all the time. The weight of parts are fine. If you have any intellegence youll be able to put on the parts. This is one of the best games ive ever played. oh and some advice madhater. Before you make a review about a game, play it first so you dont look like a complete idiot.

Ya Gotta Love This Game |
| High Caliber from TX, USA says (15/Dec/2002): |
Armored Core 3 is the best yet from what I've seen. Its got plenty of new stuff such $ player action is a nice, as well ranged L arm wepons and R arm laser blades, the abilty to drop useless wepons is a defanit plus and the overweight capabiltaty is not with out its problems. The sound of the game is some of the best I've listen to from any game. The only problems I've had so far is the graphics could have been better, the lack of a 1st person veiw is dissaponting, the lack of internet play isn't good thing and being a Mech Warrior fan I wish we had the ability to destroy certint wepons and parts durring battle. However I hear that all the problems will be solved in Silent Line, untill then Armored Core 3 is suppelmentel enough for me. by the way who the hell is this MadHatter guy I mean come on he's just an idiot who can't beat a game whit out codes so he judges a game by its codes. Well scew you A$$HOLE, I would like to take you on in an arena match. Otherwise Armored Core 3 is the best.
