| Kingdom Hearts is one of the best games I've ever played!! | | Kayla from Arizona, USA says (3/Sep/2003): | Kingdom Hearts is the best game I have ever played. I mean, there is so much you have to do in this game it's breath-taking! There is several spells you have to learn, tons of worlds to go to and a lot of disney characters that you meet in each world. This is no doubt the best game that disney has created. I give it four thumbs way up!!!!! The graphics are great and it's easy to pick up on the story line even if you come in later in the game. Sound is amazing and the lifespan of the game is enormous. It is a game a defenatly recomend to the gamers who enjoy adventure, a good sense of humor, and excitement in the games that they play. This game is up there in the 40's for price range but if you are willing to pay that mauch for any game, spend it on this game. It will be worth the money that you pay.
| BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | A gamer says (20/Sep/2003): | i have played many rpg's before but this is all around the best.the graphics are awesome, and what could be better than seeing disney characters ripping up other disney characters? but other than that, anyone can understand the plot unlike some rpg's (.hack series,no offense).the music is so kool u just start the game over so u can listen 2 it!!!!!!the weapons look great too and never look the same unlike some final fantasy games.the only bad part is that it is easy.sry. i like hard games. what more can i say about this game?! i know! more! kingdom hearts 2!!!!!!!!!!!
| Kingdom Hearts the next generation of games | | A gamer says (4/Oct/2003): | Kingdon hearts is one of the best games I ever played or better yet the best game I ever played on PS2.The reason why is because the graphics are phenominal.I mean just looke at the intro when you first start a new game it almost looks like its real. And what makes this game the best is that its very adventureous.Theres so many mysteries to solve and how you have to work your way through to get all the items and your abilities you need to become the best at this game.KINGDOM HEARTS ROCKS!!!!!!(10/10)
| I LOVE KINGDOM HEARTS!!!!! | | Joshua Bobo from Pearland Texas, USA says (9/Nov/2003): | This is definitely the best game I've ever played. Believe it or not, I would have to say this game is probably even better than GTA:Vice City. I hate Final Fantasy, but I love Kingdom Hearts... Kinda weird huh? but could ya blame me? If you were on my same page, you would agree with me when I say that Kingdom Hearts has better characters, better graphics, and a better storyline. Overall, this game rocks, and I can't wait for the sequel to come out. Although I haven't beaten the secret bosses yet, I have beaten the game, and if anybody needs my help, contact me at my EMAIL address.
| Final Fantasy 7 Sequal | | Patrik Olsson from Stockholm says (25/Nov/2003): | Okay, This Game just blows your mind away into a gaming nirvana. i was playing this for about five weeks straight. in all my freetime i would try to save the univerese from the Heartless. they have all the great and wonderful charcters from the final fantasy games. the Graphics are stunning. teh gameplay is the best out on the market and squaresoft and disney have put together a game which is worth more then the price at a store. the fighting is perfectly made and the idea of all of those magic and skills is to die for.
ever since i saw the commercial for kingdom hearts i had been begging my parents to drive me to the local game store and by the game of the centuary. if you liked any of the final fantasys youre sure to LOVE this game. yet again has Squaresoft put together a world class rpg game which deserves 1,000,000/10.
P.S. KH2 will Be coming out in the late 2004 or ealy 2005.
| Best RPG Ever | | Da Blue Moose from London says (23/Mar/2004): | I am one of those people who usually buys a game and plays it for a while and then thinks "Why oh why did i ever waste my money on buying this boring game???" Usually i dont like sit down and go into a gaming state where you play for five weeks non-stop. but this game is different.
When i saw the commercial for Kingdom Hearts i said "That Looks Pretty Decent". But Boy was i wrong. WHen i tryed it at my friends house i was directly Fascinated only by looking at the beggining. The Song simple and clean is probaly one of the best songs for a hardcore RPG game. The gameplay is Mindblowing and i would have sat and rotten in my couch if my mother didnt Say "Dinners Ready". when i finally went to my local game store i didnt find Kingdom Hearts so instead i Bought Some other game called King Arthur BLA BLA BLA. After that i went to the cinema which took about a minute to walk to and saw "The tuxedo". AFter the movie i went back to game and saw that they just got a shipment of games. so when they put the games onto the shelf I saw what i had come for... KINGDOM HEARTS...
when i got home i only came to the part when you are in traverse town because it was sunday and school was on the next day so i had to go to bed. in about three weeks i had come to the part of where i had to beat ansem. i couldnt get past this part so i put the game down.
about four months later i started to play again and i went to the hercules areana place. there i leveled up about 30 levels. i then went and beat all of the hidden bosses with ease. i then beat the game twice. i looked on teh internet and saw that you could get an alternitve ending if you found all of the 99 dalmations. it took me some time to find all but three. i looked on the internet and it said that they where ontop of a grey pumpkin in halloween town. it took me about 2 days to find where the pumpkin was. i then found it and beat the game once more to see the mindblowing ending. Squaresoft and Disney have put so much effort into making this nobel price award winning masterpeice. if i could i would give this game 100,000,000,000,000,000/10, but i could only give it a maximum of 10. so if you liked FF7 then you will defentiveley LLOOVVEE this game. this is one of those games which you just cant put away for 5 reasons
1.Mindblowing Graphics
2.Best Songs And Sound EVER
3.Storyline which Engulfs you into playing
4.Charcters From the FF series and charcters with Personalitys.
5.Simply Because it is just a kick < remove me > at < remove me > at $ game.
to summarize this game is really good and any person who has played a final fantasy game or any RPG game should really buy this game. the different levels like the wonderland one requires a lot of thinking to get past. the monsters fit very well with the levels. the tarzan level is pretty straight forward and only requires you to fight well to "kill" all of the really hard monkey heartless. the best level is probaly the hercules level even thought you cant really beat it. if you are struggling to beat a boss and need leveling up this is defenetly the place to level up at. at the end of the game you should level up until you are lvl75 then start to beat the secret bosses. if you really like this game then you should really attempt to get the secret ending by looking all keyholes (Including The HUndread Acre Woods and hecules level), Beat all the secret bosses and get all 99 dalmations which takes a **ll of a long time to do unless you know where they all are.
So i suggest that You Get out of your chair you are sitting on, grab your money and run like the wind down to a store and buy the so far best RPG game in the world.
This is how i would rate it:
Graphics: 100/100
Sounds/Music: 100/100
Leveling up/Magic/Items: 100/100
Story Line: 100/100
Time Consuming:100/100
Can't Wait Until Second KH is Out: 2 MINUTES
P.S. KH2 will Be coming out in the late 2004 or ealy 2005. This is now for sure as it is soon to be released in Japan. Also, lets hope SquareSoft and Disney do another game agin together.
Blue Moose
| Another Masterpeice By Square-Soft | | Da Blue Moose from Stockholm, Sweden says (27/Apr/2004): | When I heard that Disney and Square-Soft where going to make a RPG game together I thought to myself "This is just another wanna be good RPG with a bad story and bad characters", but boy was I wrong. When I played it at my friends house I immediately fell in love with it. I just had to buy that game. So when one day I was going to the cinema and I went into a shop that sold games and couldn’t find Kingdom Hearts I was disappointed. But I found another good game so I bought it. After I had gone to see the movie at the cinema I went back to the store to find that they had just gotten a shipment of games, which included Kingdom Hearts. I asked if I could trade in the game for Kingdom Hearts that I bought and they said yes. When I got home I was so eager to play that I basically ran to my PS2. I loved the game from the moment I started playing it. Below I am going to talk about the aspects on the game and grade it on those aspects:
Controls:
The controls for Kingdom Hearts are surprisingly easy. You use the analog stick to move, the arrows to choose what action you want to perform on the menu, the X button to select the action, the Triangle button to tell your teammates to attack, the Square button to jump, and the shoulder button to target, switch target and even use a hotkey menu so that you can cast spells easier
A DEFINET 10/10 ON CONROLS
Sound/Music:
The theme song Simple and Clean is just an excellent song which even reflects the game and is just wonderful to listen to. The background music always relates to what world you are in and changes when you are in a battle or close to an enemy monster. Also the sounds when you cast magic, attack or when an enemy is destroyed are just so flawless.
A STRONG 10/10 ON SOUND/MUSIC
Items/Weapons:
These are just wonderful. In most games the more expensive the weapon the better it is, but not in Kingdom Hearts. All weapons have their strengths and weaknesses. It is always good to make sure that the right weapon is equipped when fighting a certain type of monster or boss. The Items are also good because there are only items that you actually need and not items that you think you will need but will never actually use. Also there aren’t many so you can’t be confused of buying a wrong item.
A DESERVED 10/10 FOR ITEMS/WEAPONS
Graphics:
This is probably the aspect of the game that gives the most immediate impact. When you see the intro of the game you think that the graphics are quite good but when you first start to play it you notice that the in play Graphics are just mind blowing. It never goes bad in the game and these graphics are just like the graphics that other games have only when they play a movie in the game.
A FLAWLESS 10/10 FOR GRAPHICS
Characters:
The characters for this game are just plain amazing. All the characters look good, sound good and even have a strong personality so you actually feel like you have met this person in actual life. Even the characters that are bad (Monsters and villains) have a very good AI and have a personality of their own. This really makes the game much more fun to play.
A UNBEATABLE 10/10 FOR CHARACTERS
Story:
The story for this game has to have taken ages to make. It really is a good plot and why everything is like it is explained. The reason you really play this game like most RPG's is so that you can figure out how it ends. When I finally beat this game the ending is so emotional and all so that I almost cried. I really would want to give this 1,000,000/10 but due to some laws of mathematics this is not possible so I give it,
A WELL EARNED 10/10 FOR STORY
Game play:
This is really the most important part of any game. How the game actually plays. This game is just awesome, the monsters and characters really add allot to the game play.
A SUPERB 10/10 FOR GAME PLAY
Worlds:
The locations for this game are awesome. They have like lots of places you usually know from Disney movies like Never Never Land, Halloween land and other movies. You can even get characters from those worlds like Tarzan, Peter Pan and even Ariel the Little Mermaid. All the worlds are filled with puzzles and twists to make it even more enjoyable like when you have to swim in Ariel’s world instead of running and walking. Sometimes you even need to use magic in special places to be able to get items and weapons. You can even choose to help Winnie the Pooh and his friends when they need it and even fly around in Never Never Land.
A MAGNIFICENT 10/10 FOR WORLDS
Time Span:
This game can last a lot of different time lengths depending on how you play the game. If you just do what is necessary you can beat it in all most two weeks, but if you work out all mysteries, puzzles and defeat the special secret bosses it can even take up to a year like it did for me. It is really good because after I had played on it and come very far I got bored of it and stopped playing it. Two months later I picked it up again and I played non-stop until I beat it.
FINAL ANALYSIS:
SOUND/MUSIC: 10/10
ITEMS/WEAPONS: 10/10
GRAPHICS: 10/10
CHARACTERS: 10/10
STORY: 10/10
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
WORLDS: 10/10
TIME SPAN: 10/10
RATING OF GAME:10/10
Go out and buy this game if you haven’t already. This is Truly a wonderful RPG..
P.S. Kingdom Hearts 2 will come out late 2004 or early 2005 ; )
| Holy game of KH | | blue moose from clarkesville, mini-wah-wah says (28/Apr/2004): | I’ve said it before, and it bears repeating: Squaresoft has one of the best records in gaming. Sure, there have been a couple pratfalls with games like The Bouncer or Driving Emotion Type-S, but for every one of those stinkers, there are at least a couple games on the same level as Final Fantasy X. Front Mission 3, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics; Square can still deviate from the traditional RPG mold and crank out a quality title.
Kingdom Hearts just happens to be another one of those quality titles. At its heart, the game is your basic action/adventure game with RPG elements mixed in. Even without the Disney characters, it would still be worth checking out, but then of course there’d be no real hook, as Kingdom Hearts doesn’t just use the Disney backdrop as some sort of cheap façade for a typical Square adventure. Quite the opposite, in fact; this IS a Disney game, first and foremost, and it’s an impressive one at that, managing to cull an astonishing amount of Disney lore, from music to storyline details to original voice actors to, of course, characters. Over 100 of them scattered throughout the 30 or so hour trip, and plenty of cameo treats for Final Fantasy fans to boot. Going into it, you don’t need to know anything about past Square efforts to get anything out of the game, though just like the Disney elements, if you’re steeped a bit in both traditions, you’ll really soak up more of the game and walk away with a much more rewarding experience.
Trying to explain how the collision of Disney and Square worlds interact is a bit like trying to explain a TV show to someone from the 19th century, but I’ll try. The key, I suppose, is understanding that in Kingdom Hearts, the worlds you’ll encounter (nine of them pulled from Disney movies) all exist as if none of the others existed. Tarzan has never met Donald Duck, Aladdin has never seen Winnie The Pooh, etc., etc. Imagine what would happen if all of these worlds, though, were suddenly linked, and while the characters in the worlds can’t necessarily jump to another, someone that existed outside of them could freely hop from world to world with no difficulty. Now imagine if there was an evil force devoid of hearts that was slowly swallowing up each of these worlds and you have a pretty good idea of the antagonist side of Kingdom Hearts.
This is exactly what’s taking place when a young boy, Sora, and his best friends Riku and Kairi, have their plans of leaving their island paradise interrupted by an attack from these Heartless creatures. It turns out that Sora has a much bigger place in the grand scheme of things, and after an encounter with the Heartless, he and his friends are pulled from their world and separated. Sora soon meets up with Donald and Goofy, who have been sent out by King Mickey to find the bearer of a “keyblade,” which Sora has recently inherited. Once they hook up, the story quickly shifts into a quest to both stem the tide of Heartless streaming into these Disney worlds, and a search for Sora’s friends. Still following me? Good, cause that’s about as much of the story I can explain without giving anything away. Suffice it to say the tradition of great storytelling on Square’s part continues in classic form here.
As I said before, Kingdom Hearts much like a traditional action RPG. Combat takes place in free-roaming real-time. Sora wields the keyblade like a natural, comboing into attack strings with a couple presses of the X button. He’s capable of using magic in now-classic Square naming conventions (blizzard, blizzara, blizzaga), either via the on-screen menu or with a press of the L1 button and X, triangle or O. Special attacks, rolls and a couple other moves can be activated from the on-screen menu or a press of the square button. The controls take almost no time to get used to, and this pick-up-and-play feel is bolstered by familiar RPG elements like experience and levels, increases in attack, defense and abilities. For those wondering, nope, you can’t control anyone but Sora, but it’s fun to watch the other characters duke it out, and you can customize the AI to play a certain way (healer, attacker, etc.) to gel better with your particular style.
Kingdom Hearts is a pretty game, but it’s not especially flashy. There’ll be no confusing this with some of the more flamboyant previous efforts like Final Fantasy X or even The Bouncer. In classic Square fashion, the game is replete with effects work, however, and it simply helps to solidify my belief that nobody -- and I do mean nobody -- knows how to do more with a simple spell or item use than Squaresoft’s artists. The models are clean and detailed, but not exceptionally so, since they really need to mix with the animated-looking denizens of every world (though it is cool to see how their wardrobe changes with each world to blend in and not arouse suspicion from the locals; wait till you see the characters when they get to The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Halloween Town). Textures are quite varied and detailed when the need calls for it (which isn’t too often because of the general cartoony feel of the game), and it still amazes me that there’s not a single loading screen anywhere in the game. No two worlds look anything alike, and stay very, very true to the feel of their respective movies.
It’s not really the graphics that concern me, though, it’s the camera. It’s been a while since I’ve had as much trouble getting the camera to look where I want. It’s not a constant tug-of-war war with the camera like, say, Mario Sunshine, since for the most part the camera goes where it should on its own. It’s when you have to take a look at something that’s not caught by the normal camera movement that you suddenly enter a Hemmingway-eque Old Man and the Sea-type struggle. The camera moves around you quick enough when you’re in the open, but when it bumps up against an object, it functions almost like the characters, slooooooooooooooooooooowly rubbing against the object and at times getting completely hung up on a wall. What’s worse, sweeping the camera around to the left or right is handled with the L2 and R2 buttons, while the right analog stick is largely unused (it comes into play when you need to make menu selections while on the move, but that’s almost something that could have been done with the L2 and R2 buttons instead. I wish I could say it wasn’t something that detracted from the gameplay, but the fact that you’ll have to wrestle with it whenever you want a difference vantage point really does hurt the whole experience. It should be noted, though, that there are couple really cool shots during the cinematics, stuff that tends to stray from more traditional static or dolly-like movements found in most game cinemas.
Ahhh, and then there’s the sound. There’s been a bit of drama surrounding Utada Hikari’s song, the title of which I can’t even now mention, but I can tell you that it kicks mucho butt, and is woven into a couple separate pieces in the game quite well. Yoko Shimamura’s choices in world music run the gamut from annoying (there’s only so many times you can hear a weak rendition of “Under The Sea” before you start to go slightly mad) to fantastic, but usually fall somewhere in the middle. Not bad, but not especially memorable either. Oddly enough, the more dramatic parts and orchestrally scored pieces are incredibly moving, and while it probably wouldn’t have meshed as well with the Disney worlds, I almost find myself wishing there was more to hear when you weren’t being hit with a major plot revelation. Ah well, less is more, I suppose.
Perhaps most indicative of everything they’ve accomplished with Kingdom Hearts is Square’s efforts to faithfully recreate a bevy of Disney worlds out though absolutely killer voice work and a translation that feels incredibly true to the Disney movies. Sure, there are a few quirky Japanese sound effects and some stuff that just doesn’t translate all that well, but overall you’ll get a very authentic feel with each of the characters, something that is due in no small part to the fact that in almost every case, the voice work is dead-on, often using the same actors that appeared in the movies or TV shows. What’s more, it seems the choices in a few key actors were perfectly decided. Sorry, but you just aren’t going to be able to find someone that does a good enough impression of Gilbert Gottfried or James Woods to be true the character unless you get the real voice. Plenty of big-name actors donated their celeb status and pipes to a couple roles, most notably the Square characters that make cameos (Mandy Moore as Aeris! Many More as Aeris!), and of course the three new Disney characters (that’d be Sora, Riku and Kairi for those that need a refresher) that the story centers around.
Hey, I’ll admit it; I had my doubts about how Kingdom Hearts would turn out. It’s the gaming industry’s version of The Odd Couple -- Square and Disney -- but the combo couldn’t have turned out better. I mean that. I really don’t think anyone else could have woven as complex and enthralling a story into such enjoyable gameplay and kept it as true to both Square and especially Disney fans. It is important to make the distinction though, so listen up. This is Disney game with Square characters, not the other way around. Disney fans will freak when they see how many characters are brought in, and the way they’re incorporated into the gameplay is so classically Square that long time fans of the developer will get an extra chuckle or two. Heck, even the difficulty feels right; challenging (perhaps too much so for the younger crowd, but then they probably won’t get the story anyway) but still doable, and the sense of accomplishment after you finally get through with the epic boss battle at the end is one of the best treats a gamer can get.
Sprint as fast as possible to your nearest games store to pick this game up next month, and if you haven’t pre-ordered a copy, maybe it’s time you took the time to plop down the cash for it ahead of time. That’s that much less time between you getting it into your hands and into your PS2.
| from a kid(ENDING STINKS!!!!!!!!!! and more) | | A gamer says (28/Jun/2004): | Hi I know a lot of you been asking what happens at the end, and this is what happens after you beat the finale boss. The room breaks in two and Sora and kiri get separated. Then it’s over, except Goofy, Donald, and Sora wake up and Pluto is there with a massage with the kings’ seal on it. The game is over and you start from the last place you saved. But nothings different.
Also in one of the emails I saw. Was that the person did not know how to defeat the phantom at the clock tower. It's very easy just aim at the clock tower and use stop then lock on to the phantom and use a magic attack for each color red for fire, blue for ice etc. Continue to do that and the phantom will die. (don't forget to freeze the clock every time the clock restarts or the phantom will cast a spell which will kill you in ten seconds and you can't be revied)
There are no codes for kingdom hearts don’t waste your time I’ve asked all my friends, read the official guide book, looked on all code websites THERE ARE NO CODES!!!!! don’t waste your time looking for them.

I got everyone's last weapon except for Sora..(im finding out how to receive the mystery goo's by the lil mushroom dudes) well i beat sephiroth and boy he sure was damn hard... all i had to hav oblivion for sora.(you find it at the place you beat riku for the last time) well back to sephiroth you gotta use Areo/a/aga. u have to have all ur critical plusses and hit him in the air...always until u stun him or break his combo use all ur attacks on him. when he disappears, use target button right away so he wont attack you from behind. And if you get lucky from catching up from him when he disapears use ur combo again. keep on doing that when u broke his shield. keep using areo/a/aga again and constantly cure yourself! after breaking his shield either use sonic,(if u know how to use it with combos) ok use sonic, when u finsh your first hit with sonic, press 'x' again at the right time, it will do another sonic right back at him, press 'x' again, then a third sonic in a row, and so on and so on until you get to the last. how do u know if you do a combo? its easy! u have to read the attack button until it says "rave" press 'x' until it lights up after u use sonic once. and if you are far away from him, well use that skill of throwing your keyblade. u can do the same combo like that too. it is the same thing as sonic, but ur just throwing ur keyblade... until you beat him up to the yellow or green HP bar, he'll either cover himself in a blue shield and start making meteors rotate around the stadium
my suggestion either walk up to him and constantly use sonic or just stand at the corner and get hit, so in that way use cure.
oh yeah! i forgot 2 things, in order for you to use enough MP u must equip MP rage that allows you to get at least 1-2 bars of MP once u get hit. And another one is if he does this really strong hit that brings u to 1 HP, u have to keep on hitting him until he fails to do that attack, or throw ur key at him once ur far away so he will fail, and last, just get hit and use elixer. keeping on doing my way and i guarentee u will beat him!
good luck guys! Now my ppl are level 100 and sephiroth is easy as ever!-bai!!
| PURELY SQUARESOFT STANDERD INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! | | A gamer from Paris france says (15/Jun/2003): | When i first looked at this game, i thought it would be like for 5 year olds.then i played! The graphics are brilliant ( with only final fantasy X's being better), the mystical plot and phrases such as " no matter how deep the darkness, a light allways shines from within" will keep you captivated for hours. The many mini-games and side quests make the game impressively fun tp play, the story line and ending are nothing short of INCREDIBLE. I need to tell the people who are like me and think this game looks babyish at first with all the disney characters in it, WELL ITS NOT!. I think that you MUST play this game, espacially if you are a final fantasy fan, as you will meet many famous characters such as Aerith, squall, Cloud, Tidus ect. As for life span lol, just see how long it takes you to beet the hardest boss, wich is not the final one ( this is a common thing in fianl fantasy games, like the dark aeons in ff10, Gaya in ff9 and the ruby and emeerald in ff7). Sephiroth is so hard not even the most hardcore players can defeat him. Summed up this game has only strong points and no weak ones, it will satisfy all age groups and will keep you playing for ages.
10+

WRONG!!!! I'm practically bowing to the game!!! If I could rate this game, I'd say 11 out of 10!!!!!
My bro is up to the End of the World, but he can't beat the Phantom in Neverland or the Hades and Platinum Cup in the Coliseum. He hasn't played it for a while so I was literally on my knees begging him to play it. When he say yes, he went up to the End of the World and stopped. I've been trying to get him to play it again ever since!!!!!!
