Takes third place for worst game ever made. | | AkaRai from Brownsville, Texas, U.S.A. says (2/Sep/2004): | To all those reviewers saying every section of it rules, give some reasons instead of just blankly stating they do.
Let's start with graphics, many have said this game has good graphics. In truth, it only has *okay* graphics in thw beginning, and ending cinema. The graphics throughout the rest of the game are sub-standard. Square made FFX a good two years before KH, and it had far better graphics than KH. When you consider it was made byt he same company, two years earlier, and has better graphics than KH, it shows they didn't put alot of focus into it.
Next, let's tackle the story. I keep hearing "BRILLIANT STORY OMG" To this I say, shut up. It's a brilliant story if you're 12, and have never heard it before, but believe me, it's been done. It's the story of a boy traveling world to world, defeating a boss in each, with the eventual goal of defeating the main baddie, and rescuing a girl. We've seen this in all of the Mario games, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, many of the Final Fantasy games, Kung-Fu, Lunar: SSSC, Toki, well.. you get the idea. I could go on for hours. And even the very first Mario accomplished this done-to-death story better than KH. Because at least, back then it was original.
Then you have the Heartless. Could there be a more simplistic, or childishly designed villain? "OMG, they're like.. dark... and destructive... and they have no heart... so um... since they're dark.. and have no heart... they're the Heartless!!!" I could have come up with a better concept when I was 5. Hell, set a chicken in front of a type writer, and it would too.
Next is the actual gameplay. Do you all forget the aggrivatingly idiotic camera? The near uselessness of your A.I. allies? Do you forget how more often you would die because you were trying to heal, or use a spell, then from actually fighting? The whole system was half assed.
Then there are the mini games. Notice you see the outside of the Gummi ship but once, and then only the interior after that? Let's talk about the Dalmations, because that's a prime example of how thrown together this whole game was. Every time we save them, it's the exact same thing. The box opens, and we hear the message "three dalmations have just been sent home." That's great, but why always three? Why not 2, or 4? Why can't we actually SEE them go home, instead of just being given a message? Maybe tell us why they're there, or how they got there? Why can't there be soem variety to it? Maybe we could win them in a battle at the arena. Maybe we could buy one as a rare.
Next, let's look at the voice actor cast. Square/Disney could have chosen professional, established voice actors, who had experience in the voice acting community. Did they? No. They hired pop stars. Mandy Moore, Haley Joel Osment, Lance Bass, David Boreonas, Billy Zane... These people weren't chosen because they had voice acting experience, they were chosen on name recognition. That's another problem of this game, the whole thing is hype.
As to the music... I can't get very technical on this, as really all I have with the music is my opinion, but it sucked outright in my opinion. High pitched, sappy pop music, with lyrics that made absolutely no sense translated into english. "Simple and Clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight..." What? As opposed to "Complicated and Dirty"? And let's not forget the Nightmare Before Christmas world. That movie was a musical, a musical with a score by Danny Elfman, known for such works as Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Men in Black, Beetlejuice, and countless, countless other works. The man is a master. Did they use him for the NBC world? No. That ruined the entire effect of it. They didn't use the original composer of what was made as a musical. It was NBC without a soul.
Speaking of soul-lessness though, let's talk about the big problem. Square bastardized all of the FF characters. Every single one of them was warped, and changed to match their new environment in a way that made NO sense.
KH is a children's game. Deny it all you want, but the game is rated E for a reason. You know how Goofy holds a shield? You want to know why? Originally he was to carry a sword, but Disney said that was too violent, and they never wanted any images of Goofy brandishing a sharp object. Why? Because the target audience is children.
Here's where the bastardization comes in... All the FF games are rated T. The characters, and stories in them are decidedly adult. So why take chain smokers, People who curse compulsively, and mass murderers, and stuff them with Dumbo, Bambi, and Winnie the Pooh? Each and every FF character was completely and utterly changed. All of them. And I can show you a side by side comparison of each and every character, including Sephiroth. I'm just going to cover four big ones here. The fact is, they completely forsaked their stories as well. Each character here has a completely different story, and behaves completely different than they did before.
Let's start with Cloud. What did they do to him that's so aggrivating? Look at his claw, and scarf. They combined him with Vincent. They just took two characters, slapped them together, and pretended they were one. Then, what's with the bandages on his sword? Is it broken? Seems to me that would make the sword completely useless in battle. Sort of like welding steel over the barrel of a gun.
Then let's take Cid from FF7. In FF7 he cursed compulsively, he fell asleep during conversations, and he ALWAYS smoked. Always had a cigerette in his mouth, and a pack on his goggles. In KH? Well the cursing, and falling asleep ar eboth gone. His surly personality is completly non existant here. Costume is barely at all the same. They've made him look 5 to 10 years younger, and instead of his trademark cigerettes... he has a toothpick. Are you getting this??
Next, let's look at Yuffie, I'll be brief with her. They made her shorter, her head bigger, her breasts smaller, her stomach, and hips wider. Then there's her personality. In FF7 she was a thief, that was all she was, and her obsession, and entire purpose for joing the team was to steal their materia. There is NO materia in KH. She displays none of her former personality, and looks insultingly different.
Finally, two characters. Wakka & Tidus. They've been turned from adults, to children. Now you may say "it takes place before the FF game!" aha, but the problem here is, Tidus and Wakka didn't meet until they were both adults. Play the games before you comment on them, really. On top of that little screw up -and the fact that tidus now has a red stick, instead of a crystal sword- there's the fact that he's a dream of the Fayth. As he is a dream, he is without age. The age he was in FFX is the only age he can be, because that was how he was dreamt up. And, if you played FFX you know that if the Fayth die, Tidus ceases to exist. There are no Fayth in KH, so again his presence lacks logic, and completely forsakes his plot.
Now, I know you've read two lines of this, and just decided to click that you didn't like the review without actually taking the time to read it, but I implore you. Read it, and understand that I'm making valid, technical points. If you want more info, or want to dispute it, e-mail me.

I have beaten every requierd boss and on my first try! I have beaten the game many many times! I have even memorised everything everyone says in kingdom hearts! I am also a huge fan of disney movies. I have gotten from Destiney Island to Hollow Bastion in less than a day. I am the KING OF KINGDOM HEARTS and I am what you would call the expert! Anyone who does not like kingdom hearts is absolutly mad because kingdom hearts is the best game ever! Just remember I am the #1 Fan of kingdom hearts! I loved the cool graphics! Kingdom hearts is so cool and I canot wait another second for kingdom hearts 2. I have made 2 large posterboards filled with pictuers of kingdom hearts and kingdom hearts 2. At first I thoght the game would be okay but not to good but I was so so so wrong about it because it is the absolut best game in the whole wide world! whoever thought up this game is a total gienies! And if I could I would give kingdom hearts a one thousand star rating but to bad because, as you know I can only do ten or less. When ever someone asks me to beat something I can. I mean, I had thought it looked a little corny when it first came out but my best friend started playing and said that it was really great and after that I had been looking to rent it and then eventually bought it. I also had another friend who just recently said it was the stupidest game in the world but now I got him hooked because I got him to play it. So, along with what seems to be the popular opinion, it is a fun game with a great and original plot. I have to agree with some about the video clips that you have to constantly be going through everytime you die. It drives me completely insane and I more or less just start clicking buttons and groan and mope. I like the battle system too. Before this game the only SquareSoft (Hear it's SquareEnix now after joining with another company) game I had ever played was Final Fantasy X2 (which in my opinion wasn't that great and I didn't even bother going very far in it.). And to tell you the truth, I don't particularly care for the battle system of the final fantasy games. So I do like the battle setup for KH as well since I can just go all out swinging my sword hoping that I can batter the enemy to death instead of hoping I have enough HP to stand up against another attack. But that's just my opinion. But, as I sign off! It's a great game and, for all those who have yet to play it, it's worth your time.

The plot and everything was excellent!! And Sora is not that typical brawny hero with the abs and the blond hair...he's a small fourteen year old boy...who may look a like skimpy...but he's a REAL hero...not the fantasy ones you see all the time. The way your hit points and magic points were updated were a little slow though...by the time you need a whole lot of life...you don't have it...and some parts of the game were just plain confusing...and last but not least...if another speaking part comes on before the boss comes...and you don't beat him the next time...they let you wait a whole 5 minutes for them to speak again...they should have a skip button or something...And as a matter of fact I DO play this game AND like it...but I'm NOT gay or stupid...you don't call people gay or stupid just 'cause they like a game that you don't!!! But anyways I recommend this game...it will be fairly easy for more expert gamers...(not to me though)...'cause it's rated E...but it's a beuatiful fantasy game that shouldn't be looked over... ^_^

After I beat him I got much better at fighting. the hardest boss is sephirosh. every day when I come from school I do my homeworK and go to ps2. sometimes I could play kingdomhearts for hours. On a scale 1-10 I think kingomhearts is a 2009!!!! On rainy days kingdomhearts is always there for me to play. I love kingdomhearts!!!!!!!!! Kids say they hate kingomhearts when they don't even know what is. I mean really? kingdomhearts has such cool music like the theme song called SIMPE AND CLEAN. I know when kingdomhearts 2 is coming out NOVMBER 7th. The same day that kingdomhearts 1 came out!!!!! And kingdomhearts movie is come out to!!!!!! Kingomhearts is the greaest game in the world!!!!!! I love kingdomhearts!!!!!!!!!! It is the best. No really I'm not kidding!!!!!!

I forced my younger brother to whatch and....well then he wouldn't leave. then my youngest brother came out and they both kept trying to take the controller away form me. i now even cauch my dad playing it. i don't let the game get in the way of things like school and outdoor activety (even tho i would sometimes rather play it). when i tryed out for softball and made the all star travling B team (wow thats a mouthfl) my motivation was (that is since r team lost every game we played) ok since we all stink on ice (it wasn't are fault that we lost it's just we played A teams and we are a B team)you can play your hardest be exosted then go home and play Kingdom Hearts. Well since i focused on that and was in a good mood the whole team got there sprits up and we played hard and it turns out that we one tree gams in a row! now my favoiret pass time is to play KH and when i get stuck (i always get stuck ) i go out a practice softball. (so in other words i am outside more then in.) KIngdom Heats has amased me and my fammily and it is a game that well take your mind off things it is a strategy game so it gets your brain working irecomed it. and i can't wait tell the next one comes out. I all ready compleated kingdom hearts 1 and I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2. Sora was a fun hero to play and I can't wait to be him again. I spent hours playing it and every time I got back from school you would find me playing Kingdom Hearts in my room. I think the hardest part was the ending but it was still fun. defeating the heartless was realy fun. It was also realy cool how the heartless and Disney characters came togeather and building a gummy ship and going through different Disney levels and I can go on and on like my favoret level is between Tarzan or the ending level and I know when I have to fight somethin theres no more music and you can hear the blowing speaking of music I love the theam song "HOLD ME WHATEVER LIES BEOND THIS MORNING IS A LITTLE LATER ON" I even recorded the song and replaid the ending just to hear it again thats how much I like it. The grapics were amazing especily the levels they were beautiful. I would give the gameplay a 10 the charicters moved around perfectly. now the lifespan that was OK it got better at the end because your lifespan would get longer This game was a original because it has what other games don't it has Disney with style. I think we can all learn a lesson that is if you can understand it I learned that your true firends will allways be there for you.

I reckon all of the levels are great except the last level was really hard, but it was so interesting, and that big monstermouth boss was freaky!! the only part of the game i didnt like was the times you didnt have Donald or Goofy with you, it gets so lonely!! i LOVE the fact that the game has Donald and Goofy (or another disney character) with you, cos all other games its just you fighting by your self, its so cool to have friends with you in Kingdom hearts!! I could play Kingdom hearts all day (actually I did once)
When the second Kingdom hearts comes out i will so be the first to buy it!! I love the mushu summon, he's so cute! When i started playing Kingdom Hearts I began watching disney movies again and found that they arent that bad, their really cool!!

Im just not quit bright enough to be able to beat people, go to worlds, know where i am in a world, know who is there, remember who i am supposed to find...and....geez,i don't even remember emerything that.. i.. dont remember....hummm. anyways, so i can't play for crap! but my lil sis, who is 12 kicks ass at it!!! and she has beeten it i don't know how many times and still playes it more often than anyother game we have! afnd i love to sit and watch! the grapjhics are sooo amazing and all the characters are just realy cool, and the fact that they mixed the original disney classics along with final fantasy characters is just too cool! the story line is absolutly amazing! it is so different and inventive! plus i also almost lost it when my sis showed me the princeses of heart! i grew up having everything princes, and then they had them on this game! the different worlds were so neet to see! and some of the characters were kinda hot as my sis would say. she is in love with ricku! its so funny! anyways, this hame just has it all, and now my sis has the book, the sound track( this is the only thing she would ever listen to!) tons of printouts that cover her room, and now she is purchasing clothing! plus she owns 2 copies of kingdom hearts! one for my moms house, and one for my dads! anyways, the gaming disn't realy get to much better than this!!!! (except for donkey kong, my personal fav, but thats just me) so that is my review of kingdom hearts!

The room breaks in two and Sora and kiri get separated. Then it’s over, except Goofy, Donald, and Sora wake up and Pluto is there with a massage with the kings’ seal on it. The game is over and you start from the last place you saved. But nothings different.
Also in one of the emails I saw. Was that the person did not know how to defeat the phantom at the clock tower. It's very easy just aim at the clock tower and use stop then lock on to the phantom and use a magic attack for each color red for fire, blue for ice etc. Continue to do that and the phantom will die. (don't forget to freeze the clock every time the clock restarts or the phantom will cast a spell which will kill you in ten seconds and you can't be revied)
There are no codes for kingdom hearts don’t waste your time I’ve asked all my friends, read the official guide book, looked on all code websites THERE ARE NO CODES!!!!! don’t waste your time looking for them.

The graphics are tremendis but in a tiny part of the game it looked like sora was sick. But the next best game in gameing history is KH2!!!! for all of you lost people who have no i dea what KH2 is going to be like heres a 1st look at it.
First you play as sora as always. But with some new FF characters!!! The first one I heard of was Auara. Then the other one is Vincent. A nice little run down with them. Auara like makes the Beast from beauty and Beast all evil after a while. Then he snaps out of it. Of course new and improved Heartless. Their white heartless that play a big role in game. My guess their called soulless. That's my guess don't be making rumors !!
Now Riku is in this game. So is Kairi. Duh. Now theres this new evil that's looking for Sora are somebody. Theres this blond haired kid that has 2 keyblades. Some say he's Soras brother are like a slave to sora. Because he says are someone in a hood say's where's Sora??? Well i have to go I hope this helps you out with a first look in to KH2!!!
| best game | | A gamer from miami,usa says (20/Jun/2004): | at first i didnt like it cause my game always froze(it frozo in hec's world) so my friend gave me his it was awsome and hard i needed 2 buy the guide for this game. i got far with the guide then i got bored of playing it i deleted the data on my ps2 and didnt play it for like 7 months then i started 2 play without the book man was it hard i was also suprised when got farther without the book than with the book lol im on the end of the worlds and cant beat that vampire like creature in the end of the worlds boy is he hard i loved the music when u fight a boss it has a cool beatand the keyblades are awsome anyway this game is great i cant wait till december for the second part.i almost cryed when sora struk himself with rikku/ansem keyblade it was sad anyway i love the music the graphics the characters i wanted 2 buy final fantasy 2 see the other characters but i didnt. whoever buys this game will want 2 buy the second part well this game is awsome. i would give it a 200 thumbs up(if i had that many)

I first started playing it when my friend and I gto bored and thought we should play it. I startde playing it and loved it. When I went home I couldnt wait to play it again. My friend finished it so I thought I would buy it. I couldnt find it in any stores for a low price because I only had about $35. I finnaly found one used for only $30. So I bought it when I got home I played and got through Destiny Islands. Then when the screen went blck before you get to traverse town it froze. I turned off the game and started over but it still didnt work. So I went back and traded it in for another one. This time it worked and I had the time of my life!I loved this game so much I played and played and played. Now I cant wait until the 2nd one comes out. And also the Chain of Memories. I think im going to kill myself if I here its not going to come out. So lets hope it does befroe I blow up.

| The best game ever | | Game Master from Denver usa says (8/Jun/2004): | My sister rented it and i thought it wouldn't be good but I played it anyway and it is great i beat it in less than a week so now I am trying to get the secret ending.I already got all the dalmations and i still need to get the keyhole in the 100acre woods but still i have had fun. all my people are on level 100 and I have beat the harder bosses at the clocktower and when you take carpet to the desert they are hard but fun.I heard that you could get an attack at level 125 but I can't get past level 100 so please if you know how to get past level 100 put it in a review.the music and the characters are so great i have played some disney snd final fanticy games but this game was great. Just to say to level up easy go against the rock titan at the end over and over or in the bigining when they ask you about if you want friendship or to be strong always choose the top one to level up easier in the game.It is the best game i have ever played

I got everyone's last weapon except for Sora..(im finding out how to receive the mystery goo's by the lil mushroom dudes) well i beat sephiroth and boy he sure was damn hard... all i had to hav oblivion for sora.(you find it at the place you beat riku for the last time) well back to sephiroth you gotta use Areo/a/aga. u have to have all ur critical plusses and hit him in the air...always until u stun him or break his combo use all ur attacks on him. when he disappears, use target button right away so he wont attack you from behind. And if you get lucky from catching up from him when he disapears use ur combo again. keep on doing that when u broke his shield. keep using areo/a/aga again and constantly cure yourself! after breaking his shield either use sonic,(if u know how to use it with combos) ok use sonic, when u finsh your first hit with sonic, press 'x' again at the right time, it will do another sonic right back at him, press 'x' again, then a third sonic in a row, and so on and so on until you get to the last. how do u know if you do a combo? its easy! u have to read the attack button until it says "rave" press 'x' until it lights up after u use sonic once. and if you are far away from him, well use that skill of throwing your keyblade. u can do the same combo like that too. it is the same thing as sonic, but ur just throwing ur keyblade... until you beat him up to the yellow or green HP bar, he'll either cover himself in a blue shield and start making meteors rotate around the stadium
my suggestion either walk up to him and constantly use sonic or just stand at the corner and get hit, so in that way use cure.
oh yeah! i forgot 2 things, in order for you to use enough MP u must equip MP rage that allows you to get at least 1-2 bars of MP once u get hit. And another one is if he does this really strong hit that brings u to 1 HP, u have to keep on hitting him until he fails to do that attack, or throw ur key at him once ur far away so he will fail, and last, just get hit and use elixer. keeping on doing my way and i guarentee u will beat him!
