I got the game because my friends said it was great, i went out and brought it and i haven't stop playing it. A few months ago i only got network play (online gaming). I just couldn't put the controler down. The Graphics are amazing, the game is by far the best milarty game released at the moment. The only things that lets it down is story mode. Story mode is boring and to original, yeah ok u might be able to command your team but there are limited options for what you can do. I recommend this game to any online player, but if you have not got it I suggest you spend your pocket money on something else. This game will compeit with other online games but will not be victorious many people like different games and different tastes but the online is the games strongest point, Lets just hope Socom II will beat the story mode of Socom I and match the standards of the online play. If anyones actually reads this and you haven't got Socom I, do not buy it but wait for Socom II thanks for reading and happy gaming rather online or offline!!!!!!! allen king playstaition.com

This is one of the best games going. Though it does have some glitches, and poor teammates AI. Still, by far one of the best PS2 games yet. Now, to all of you tree huggin' terrorist loving, I buy my kids whatever they want with out even looking at it morons..... It's a NAVY SEALS GAME! There are guns. There is shooting. How can you say, oh my, my child was playing and I couldn't believe it?!?!? Do you just rent them porn movies and say oh wow, that's not good. You are grounded for watching that. Be the adult here. You have to be a friggin' moron to not think that a navy seals game is gonna have guns and shooting in it. As far as I am concerned, if you got this for you kid and now you disapprove, it's your own fault for being DUMB, DUMB, DUMB! This is one of the best games going. I gave this game a 9 because of Boomer mainly and a few gliches with Bravo team but overall they are great to have around. Other than that the game is asome. It has a great story line and the enemy AI is amazing. The only thing that makes me sad is I have not yet got the online adapter and have heard it makes the whole thing even better. The sound was good in the game and the scenery was magnificent. Although beening difficult (which makes it more life-like) this is probaly the best game I have ever played and do not know how they could possibly outdue it in Socom II. My wife who has never played video games in her life started playing when I got this game and although she will not admit it she is hooked just like myself. Every night we put the kids to bed and pull up chairs so we can forget about the rest of the world and take life frustrations out on terrorist. Although Socom II is already out I have yet to play it and I am looking forward to it and anything else this team come up with in the future.

SOCOM NAVY SEALS is an awesome game. It's very realistic; it makes me feel like I’m really out there. I got all my friends hooked on it. I'm in the Army so I’ve used some of the commands in the game. Shouting out commands in the headset makes me want to go get CHARLIE. Per my review title; I hate, I hate, I hate BOOMER. He get's in the friggin way sometimes. I wish he had a hold position command. I've actually killed him off, and continued the stage without him. Unless it's a difficult stage, than I use him as my extra life, if he get's shot up, I know to hold and search for enemy sentries. I hope they changed that in SOCOM II. Oh! And the damn POW's, oh my god. They don't listen, and they actually glitch and get stuck in crazy places. I'm sure someone out there feels me on this. BRAVO team is cool with me, they move so stealth like, and take out tango's that I can't see. I like to send them off to cover an area while I come around the back and circle the enemy in. But besides Boomer’s stupidity (and the POW's), I gave this game a “9”. It's definitely on my "A" list, right next to Metal Gear Solid.

I have had the game for around 2 months now i've had the online adaptor for as long as i have had the game and i have to tell you it is probaby one the best games i have ever played. Single player mode is not as exiting as online mode but it is still great. I have completed it on ensign and am halfway through Lt.Junior Grade. The graphics are some of the best i have ever seen in my lifetime. Online is even better because you are playing against human intelligence which makes it amazing to play, the only problem with the online mode is the fact that a few pepole out there have to spoil it for the rest of us through cheating and gliching. Other than this the online mode gets a 100% approval from me because it is awsome. I found a few problems that i think in single player mode like Enemy AI and maybe The AI of Boomer because i belive that anyone dumb enough to walk infront of me while i am shootin at the enemy deserves to die.
In the end though i think this game is Totaly amazing and I hope socom II will be even better!!!!!

this is like the best game ever i love it i play it all day and some time i fake a sickey just to play it is rules but its to smal of a game there only like 12 levels the head set commands are ok but point less. the craficks and sound are good. u can plau it on the new ps2 on like but is not out yet in austraila i have to say that it is like the best game ive played since warcraft 2

One word - whoa. I borrowed SOCOM from my friend who got it off GameFly a couple months back and I was depressed for a week after he made me give it back. Finally I stopped being cheap and bought it for myself, I beat it twice and I still can't put it down. The entire game, from graphics and gameplay to the sheer feeling of glee I have when I shoot a Middle-Easterner between the eyes is amazing. Granted there are things that could be changed in the game,like incapacitating Boomer once and for all to never be seen again (which thankfully the developers for SOCOM 2 said in an OPM mag will happen, no more Boomer!) but overall the game is one-of-a-kind and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, those screenshots make my mouth water.

The online aspect of this game blows every other game out of the water.Playing 8 hours straight was easily accomplished.Playing with friends is awesome. Tell them where to meet you in breifing room,and there you are.Sometimes you are on the same team sometimes not.I have my pre-order in for 2nd version. You had better do the same.

Is was freshing to see the lengths that they development team went through to capture the true movements and tactic of the best shadowing warriors in the world. I am great fan of Military games and i though there would never be a game that would give so much tribute to the teams great job to the development-teams. Cant wait for the sequel.
Would like to see more enviroment interaction in the future, teams beaing able to take spinping postion in trees and high ground also the ablility for teams to be increased to six or even eight men. Still a great game.

This is the best game that sony has ever put out. The online game is the coolest game ever. But one thing they need to fix is to stop the hackers and the cheaters or make a room just for cheaters. They also need to block our rooms so cheaters cant get in or make it were we can bann them from the room the vote dont work on cheaters they block it . So plz in socom 2 stop this from happening.

This game is unbeliveably addictive. I have been playing games from the days of ATARI and have not seen a better over all game.
The one player section of the game goes without saying but the online section of the game is INCREDIBLE. They could not have done any better in my opinion with the online. The people you play with or against are generaly fun and if your lucky you can join a clan (teams online)It's like having your own little or big possy. Depending on how often your team plays you could make a 12 hour day seem like a 2 hour day (time flies when your havin fun a ton of fun)I luckly belong to a clan that are there hell of high water they are there every night (or at least 75% of them. The head set makes it all the more fun because you can talk directly to others on your team at any point during game play. Pretty soon they will need to open up a socomaholics institution.
I will be one of the first to addmit myself. Socom has my mind in the clouds most of the day (when I should be thinking about work) Instead I find myself thinking about how I can get better
(at least online) and hey if you get discuraged and think you stink dont give up just practice and youl get better you have to take into fact there are people online that have been playing socom online for about 2 years on a full time basis. and we cant forget your cheaters wich in my opinion take up about 40 % of the players online (grrrrr) All and all this game rocks

The best part has to be either the ethernet (broadband) (, of which i haven't got cuz of the stupid Leics Concil) or the guns. There are about 30 of them consisting of machine guns, sub-machine guns, grenade launchers, pistols, silensed pistols, and grenades. Ethernet means you can play against each other online, chat (thats why a keyboard might be of some use!), downloadable clothes and you can make you're own level. PS : It comes with a headset which i've heard can plug into you're comp.

Have to hand it to the designers of this game. A big thumbs up. Im a Counter-Strike Addict and to play this sort of game with a head-set on a PS2 WELL F'ing DONE!!. The Graphics are excellent, the sound excellent, game play excellent. Just wish you could use a keyboard and mouse with this game and it would be perfect. But then it wouldnt be a console game now would it. Anyway, Just like to say im that sort of person that never buys Playstation games unless their realistic, like Gran Turismo or Colin Mcrae Rally. I havent brought a PS2 game in a very long time and for me to actually go out there and buy this game is a real big thing(seeing as I'm a real fussy bastid).
This game has just opened a big door for new things to come on playstation and cant wait for the next game that comes out with the same sort of cleverness and intelligence. The voice recognition is alot better than I expected.
I was thinking about buying an X-Box and ditching the old Playstation 2 but after playing this game, I think I'm gonna stick with playstation 2 cause I wonder what other surprises these guys have up their sleeve. This game is awesome so go out there, BUY IT, play it and enjoy. This is one game you wont regret buying.
