Its pretty good16130

A gamer from Philadelphia, USA says (23/Jan/2003):
This is a very good game for PS2.... especially for being the first online war game. But it has quite a few set backs. The turning is so slow that one time i found myself jumping behind someone instead of turning because if i had stopped to turn i would have been dead. Another VERY ANNOYING set back to the online game is the lack of easy setup. You VERY often get disconnect and it takes me too long of a time to reconnect since i have to log myself off by using a diff username and then log back in. The load times aren't very good. The gun accuracy, power, etc is very realistic and i like being able to zoom in with binoculars if i dont have a sniper rifle. Altogether i think this game is for patient people and if u have high blood pressure DO NOT TRY THIS GAME lol IT MAY CAUSE A STRESS ATTACK j/k. IF ur lookin for a easy to learn game take SOCOM US. Navy Seals, if u want a challenge and a VERY BIG selection of playable maps try Counter Strike.

Better Than Counterstrike!15943

Sean from Dallas texas says (21/Jan/2003):
Not only is this one of the best single player games ive ever played but the online capbilities are mind boggling! The lack of lagging and almost no loading is incredible. The fact that u can actually talk to other players sets this apart fom all other online games even counterstrike which is what started them all. The graphics, guns, and levels are all perfectly done making for the best game of the year if not ever!

Best game so far.15915

Joe from Keyport, WA. says (20/Jan/2003):
SOCOM Navy Seals is the best game I've played so far. The 1 player mode is a lot of fun, but the online version goes leaps and bounds beyond the one player mode. I like the realism here, as you dont have a power meter. If you get hit in the head, you're done, and if you get hit in the body 2-3 times, you're done. It makes it more challenging and fast paced. It's intense. To the Sally Soccer mom who thinks the game is too violent, this game was geared towards a male audience. We like these kinds of games. They are fun. If you dont like it, then dont play. Go back to watching Oprah and Dr. Phil, and let us men have our fun.

Da' Best15926

CJ Johnston from Columbus AFB, MS says (20/Jan/2003):
This is the best game I've ever played. It is so realistic and the gameplay never ends. I have to say this is just as good as Final Fantasy X!!! The designers of this game put a lot of hard work into the making of this and it shows with this amazing product.

It's Terrible15660

JUKEBOX MOM says (18/Jan/2003):
This my friend is a waste of $60. The ghraphics stink the gameplay is slow it's overall stupid. I also think that it is too violent especially the 1st mission. I hate this game it wasall a waste of my money and time. I have better things to do in life than play this game. I hate the concept, the gameplay the weapons and all of the bloodiness and violence. I hate the violent world that we live in. Now terrorisom is a bad thing we need to stop that it's pitiful that our troops cant get the job done. This game only reminds me about terrorism and all the other violence that the world has to offer. So sta away from SOCOM: US Navy Seals. Mark my word if you go out and buy it and hate it (like me) hey i warned you. I am a very honest person too I would never lie.

very addictive15689

david from greenville sc says (18/Jan/2003):
One of the best role playing games I've played. The only thing aggravating is when you get your objectives to the extraction point and you're killed, you've got to start the mission over from the beginning, then you find yourself running full bore to get back killing everything in your way(which usually doesn't work} It would be nice to start back over at the nearest check point. Here's an idea call in a nuclear strike....HA! You get killed enough thats what you'd like to do. Can't wait till the next game comes out, maybe you'll have a team of eight this time for the tough missions. Also it would be good to have health kits or medics to go back to full health but they were going for realism and thats what makes this game realistic!!!! GREAT GAME

This game is excellent.15745

A gamer says (18/Jan/2003):
This game should be given the best possible score there is. This game progresses the ideas of actually being in the game. You get to talk with your opponents without a keyboard. The graphics are practically elite game-wise. This game is the most advanced of them all. You can actually give voice commands, which I have wanted to do in a game for a while. There is a limited amount of them, but they are vocal commands none-the-less. This game gives you certain objectives to complete while trying to do your best stealth, accuracy, and teamwork-wise. This game might actually serve the purpose of trying to get more recruits so that we can actually go out there and disarm the terrorist groups out there. This game doesn't promote violence. IT IS A GAME.

wicked violent but you better kill silent.15625

jason from brampton , canada says (17/Jan/2003):
the game is really realistic especially the guns you can get m16,ak-47,sub machine guns's, snipers and more!!!! i really like it because you can camouflage perfict if it's grass, or snow, or it's just dark (black). and you have to kill silently at the first part of alot of levels so you don't attract other terrorist's!!! and you give your squad order's like to ambush, follow you, fire at will, hold fire, hold posision, and lot's more this is the best game i have ever played!!!! it rocks!!!

Realistic Game Play15301

British Military Analysist from United Kingdom says (11/Jan/2003):
SOCOM is a game that accurately depicts United States Navy SEALS. The weapons available to the user is exactly what is used by the top anti-terrorist teams throughout the world, and HRT, or hostage rescue teams, from the standard MP-5 SPD, to flashbangs and smoke geranades it is by far the ultimate combination between reality and fiction. But the game play is also enhanced with the multiplayer action and the microphone set that comes with it, with extra money one can acquire a modem and play against users all across the world. Multiplayer is perhaps the best feature due to the many options to the user, one can play to the last person suriving, or set teams and designate mission objectives. I recommend using surround stero-system so that when a enemy is approaching you from one angle and direction the sound can be heard, or if someone else has this surround stero-system designate them as a recon team for multiplayer objectives to complete and to acquire intel on positions of the enemy. I highly recommend this game for those that enjoy military related games, or realistic scenarios.

Most Realistic Military PS2 Game There Is!15094

Marty from Boulder, Colorado says (9/Jan/2003):
Being a former Army Ranger and a Long Range Surveillance Leader, I can attest that the Tactics, Missions, Equipment and Realism is by FAR, the best in the PS2 genre. The varied equipment and the ability to select the equipment for each mission and team member is outstanding. The missions and their location/senarios are up to speed with current world situations. Furthermore, the ability to control your team's actions is straight forward, and fairly accurate. The game's manual is quite concise and the ability to "jump right into the action" is not time consuming. Although this is a "Navy Seal" game, ( I would have prefered, U.S. Army Rangers.. I love it. The sounds within the game enhance the overall gameplay, especially the verbage from the team and the terroists. What makes this game a perfect 10 is that the playability and realism makes for a "play again and again". Lastly, When you think you have what it takes versus a "AI" enemy.. you get the opportunity to go ONLINE and compete against human players. ( I highly recommend that you have Broadband due to the lagging with modem). Well worth the cost!!! - And when you aren't using your cool "operator" headset in the game you can hook it right up to your USB port on your PC or Laptop and have a high quality Headset/Microphone!! RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!

A real soldier's view15071

SGT Ray Law from Fort Monroe, VA says (8/Jan/2003):
This is one of the best games I have ever played. The Sniper scope could not be more realistic. If you could hold a rifle steady without a single movement at 120 meters then you need to be in Spec Ops. I agree with everyone about the status of Boomer. The only way I finished level 10 was to get him stuck half way down a cliff where he couldn't follow me. I have walked in a room looking at a point and when I get through the entrance a enemy soldier appears out of nowhere in front of me. I guess they have those invisible cloaks off Harry Potter? I have never played a gliche free game and compared to Hidden and Dangerous this has been researched much more to fix problems. I really dislike that you can't save in the middle of the mission -and I love it. If I could save, I would have beat the game the first day I bought it. That would have made me really pissed. Anyway, all around this is very accurate and well worth the $59. I have yet to play online because I only have 56K :-(

Cadet Sgt. Hartley: I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!14889

Ashley from Indianapolis,Indiana United States of America says (6/Jan/2003):
SOCOM has got to be the only game that has kept me interested in coming back for more. The first night I played it (started at 10) I was up till 4:30 in the morning just tryin to complete the levels that where my mission. I will admitt the first time I had no clue what in the world I was doing. Learning the controls was probably what took me a long time, right behind that was trying to get into the game which wasnt hard after like the first level.
The coolest thing about the game is the reality and the headset. I havent tried the online yet, because i have too much fun talkin to the tv when it talks back to me!

DILLIGAF-nuff said14892

C/S Cowboy from Yeah right................ says (6/Jan/2003):
I was over at a friend's house, or acquaintance I should say, and he was playing this game. Because of a personal interest, I picked it up myself and thought I would see what it was all about. I enjoyed every aspect of the game, except for one minor detail...... fatigue. It wasn't a factor. On the next one, have a BUDS course to build your operator's abilities (strength, endurance, marksmanship, etc...) Having been a Navy Corpsman working with and around certain groups, I am not at liberty to say who or where, but I found it to be a close simulation of actual combat. A few rough edges just need a little smoothing out and you have yourself a perfect 10.

By far the best and most accurate military game on the market.14895

Adam Romero from Fresno, California, USA says (6/Jan/2003):
First of...I've owned SOCOM since it first came out and no game has had me this wrappend up in it. I often found myslef drifting off into day dream SOCOM land while sitting at my desk at work. I have experiences in military situations as I was the Platoon Sergeant for the the RECON Team at the Marine Military Academy and I had lofty expectations for this game and let me tell you I was not dissapointed. I've heard complaints about being incapacitated by a vertical butt-stroke during game play (i.e. dying from getting hit in the head with a rifle) well...let me hit you in the face with a 10 pound shoulder fired gas operated magazine fed semi-auto/fully auto rifle and you see if you can get up to keep your dumb < remove me > at $$ from getting killed. Sorry it just doesn't work that way. In boot camp during bayonet training one clean shot to the head with a pugil stick is considered a kill-shot, likewise in SOCOM and on the battle field. There are also complaints about the accuracy while in sniper mode. Take a hint, this game is realistic...many factors influence accuracy....such as blood loss, fatigue etc. Sorry to everyone who was raised on a steady diet of hogan's alley, duke nukem, and GTA. This isn't your ordinary video game. I have yet to play SOCOM online but if it is anywhere near as much fun as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 is online...I can't wait. I know there are a lot of you who complain about the level of intelligence with the AI in the game. Talk to any veteran and he'll tell you...Things don't always turn out the way you want them to in a combat situation...so I'm sorry if boomer doesn't have 100% accuracy everytime..it's just something that you'll have to deal with. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. Bottom line, if this game was anymore realistic...I'd have bloodstains on my couch and bullet holes in my walls. A must have for any serious gamers.

This game is one of the best.14736

Nate from Indiana says (4/Jan/2003):
SOCOM is a great game. I have played the game through, and the hardest level to me was the Caves.

The graphics are excellent, and the single player mode is good. I havent gotten my network adaptor yet, so I cant say how good the online play is.

the sound is good. I have no complants.

The headset is a great idea, and it works 99% of the time.
I also found out you can connect it to your computer and use the mic and speaker. SO to me, the headset has many uses.

With SOCOM, you can play it over and over because it has 8 difficulty levels, and that online play also. The only drawback as well as advantage to the online play: you have to have a broadband connection. It is good because it doesnt lag, but you are at a disadvantage if you dont have a broadband connection.

This is, of course, my, and only my, opinion. If you agree with it, then great! If not, well then thats great too.

PS: to all the people who dont like the sniper view: The reason why the scope jumps so much is because you are *Breathing* in the game. Why dont you try to take a rifle w/ a scope and hold it steady. It isnt an easy thing to do.
