LOTR IS ACE |
| Nepstom from uk says (30/Jan/2003): |
the lord of the rings two towers is a great game. it has good graphics and excelent sound as it uses the sound track from the movie... The cut scenes are actual scenes from the movie and there is a good transition from the movie to the game you actualy feel like your in the movie and that is a great feeling..
the levels of the game are fairly easy up until the last few levels where it gets harder.. there are a wide range of enermys from orc's and oriciy to wolves of mordor riders.. you get to play with 3 characters until you have to completed the game in which you get to play as isuldor... it is a fun and exciting game and i think any1 interested in the lord of the rings would enjoy this game...

lotr:two towers rules |
| A gamer from nottingham,england says (27/Jan/2003): |
first off id like to say i am not a major fan of lotr but this has drawn me into the world of lotr. the game starts with you play islodor who defeated lord sauron in the first lotr. then you go through the first movie 'till you get to the two towers.you play as a choice of the charecters aragorn, legolas and gimli. each with unique moves this game is action packed.
if yu think your good you can go on expert for a challenge ( not that you need to because the game is a challenge). this just leaves that not all movie to game's can be succesfull once in a while so it just goes to show that a good film and a good budget game can go far.

Can you say Ah-Yu-Ken!?! |
| CySt from NYC, NY says (22/Jan/2003): |
EA did a great job on this game, there are so many good things, it's hard to see the bad. However no game has gone without suffering flaws or inadequacies. First, the goods. Creativity: Flexibility with the development of your character is limited, but a nice option to have. They used both scenes from the movie and CG to tell the story line. Although, most have seen the movie and really don't need to see it again and again and again as you play it through with different characters. Nonetheless, they did a great job on it and I'm simply impressed. Environments: beautifully rendered and by using the movie cut scenes, it makes it that much easier to transfer you to where the game is taking place. Gameplay: annoying at first, but after the first time through, thousands of orcs and uruk hai's are a walk in the park. The bad: Limited amount of movements for characters. It's quite annoying that your character can't jump. Especially when you've come to an enemy standing on a 3ft. piece of rock and your character is unable to melee attack it...grr...duh? Low limit on levels that can be obtained in the game is also disappointing. You can't get any higher than level 10...not that you need to be any higher to beat the life out of this game. Also, the fact that the enemies always follow a pattern makes it that much easier and helps in killing the replayability of the game. As the title of this review suggest there are ultimate, unbeatable moves that each character can perform on all enemies, except bosses. That is the "BANE" moves. These moves must be purchased along with any other upgrade you wish to apply to your character, but once obtained, what ever creature you learn it for is dead meat. Not only does it kill the creature with one hit, it slows or stops time for that move to complete itself. giving you the opportunity to reassess the situation everytime you kill a enemy this way. Now, this is good and bad at the same time, but I decided to list it as one of the bad. It makes the game way to easy. once you have the timing down, your unbeatable. Another disappointment was the game length. Although certain levels were just awesome and definately belonged in the game, other scenes felt forcefully added on and didn't go quite well with the previous levels. For example, the battle in the mines of moria is fantastic, but the battles at rohan rather dull and I don't remember seeing the hero's in the movie going through house to house rescuing civilians...hmmm?
To sum this up, it's not worth the full price. I'm sorry, even with the FMV/CG cut scenes and well animated characters. It's just not worth the big bucks...The game title convinces the casual gamer and movie fans to buy at full retail I'm sure, but not a serious gamer.

Almost like the Movie....but a video game |
| =Zero= from San Fransisco,USA says (18/Jan/2003): |
This game rocks. I mean you got to a be a really good action fan or else you would give up and say you had a hard time cuz of the stupid bosses. This games graphics are beautiful. Like at helms deep( the first one) when they make the transition from the movie to the game i didn't notice for like 5 seconds. This game is more then just the sinple hack n' slash game you gotta think about how your going to take out the enemies. And Then in the plains of rohan you got the job of protecting the children. The sound is great also. With the gameplay sound and graphics I just get entranced. This game is definetly worth your money because of it's replay value. And all the extras you know with the interviews and all. There is a minor set back which is that you can't play with all characters. It would be nice to have like 3 different adventures. It is also kind of hard to aim with the bow when your in the middle of a mob. I like the idea to buy power ups but you gotta learn em' or else the game is a little harder. I especially like the rising attack that finishes of a lot of enemies. You can say what you want but we all know that this game has great replay value because you can play with 3 people and you can also start over and since you know what to do where you can try to get excellent's and perfect's. Out of all of the acion/adventue games i've played this is by far the bes of tghem all. I give it a 10 outta 10.

very good but not quite great |
| A gamer says (17/Jan/2003): |
this game is very good all around. graphics, play, and cut scenes. the only problem is the shortened gameplay and the difficulty even on the EASY mode the part that really sucks is that you have no checkpoints so you get all the way to the end of a level and if you don't beat the boss the 1st time you're back to the beginning. ither than that i give it a very good.
|
Almost as good as the film |
| Danel Porter from Wales says (16/Jan/2003): |
This is a graphical and sound marvel. The music is fantastically placed at exactly the appropriate time. The characters are varied and have their own moves and combos, which adds length to the game in trying to perfect those moves.Challenging levels with cutscenes to add atmosphere make you feel like one of the fellowship on this huge quest.Though I was disappointed with the secret character(I was hoping it would be Lurtz or Sauron),but other than that, its worth the money.A great game that has the effect of wanting to watch the film again.

very good game could be longer awsom grafics |
| tyler from new london wis says (14/Jan/2003): |
lotr the tt was one of my top games. the movie was also good. there were a few flaws like the game only taking like 3 hours to beat. the last levle at helms deep was realy hard. i dont like the troll ither. i dont agree wit that kid that said IT WAS HARD when your life is down press the code triangle down x up but hold all the front 4 button two. ne way the game i think was flawless exsept the shortness----over all i highly recomend this game.......
|
pretty good, could be longer |
| game fanatic from katonah, New York, USA says (12/Jan/2003): |
this game was really short. It defenitly could have been longer. i thought the graphics were really cool. the levels were mad hard though. it was extremly hard in someparts of the game, you would have to be a game mastermind to beat it at the end. the musis pretty cool and cachy. in some parts of the game you can tell how well doing by the music. overall it was good, hard , and short
|
Could be better |
| A gamer from Park City, Ut USA says (12/Jan/2003): |
Ya.. ok its a pretty cool game but i swear its the shortest game for PS2. Im usually not that into games, and im not that great at them, but i go it for christmas and beat it by 8:00 (I wasnt playing the whole day either). The graphics are really nice, however the gamplay sits on the bottom half of average. I agree with most of these ppl here. Rent it first... then if u still want it, knock yourself out. I think that this was one of those games that the ppl who made it raced to get it out right after the movie. If they really wanted to make a best sell they could have. Its good but i know they could make it better. I also think that they should have a multiplayer over the internet and a goor setting in options, u know like blood level and stuff, so ya good game, could be better.

What is up wit dis. |
| Aragorn from Seattle says (10/Jan/2003): |
At first im playing the game and it's massive hard, sucks at telling you what to do at the begginig. The graphics are good and all but the gameplay is so short. I'd say the hardest level is the helms deep breeching wall. I don't get you people trying to say that it's the best game ever, i have played better ps1 games, i admit the movie cuts are cool and they make it seem like it is in the movie but the bosses are impossibly hard to beat. The only reson the game took me more then 24 hours to beat is because the lamo boss would kill me and then i'd have to keep on doing the lvl over. Theres only like what, 12 lvls, the game is good to rent at blockbuster for $5 but i honestly think i wasted my money to buy it for $50, it isn't worth more then 15. If you want a good $50 game get gta vice city The graphics don't compare very well to lotr:t2t but gameplay lasts much longer. Usually im not much into unrealistic games but some are exceptions, this game barely pasess this line. I rcommend you rent the game first so you know what your buying, if you rent it it will probably be beaten by the time you return it.

do we get paid for a good review? |
| TR says (10/Jan/2003): |
As I read some of these reviews I think to myself "these guys MUST be playing a different game than I." As a whole, the game is largely just eyecandy. I was never a big fan of hack n' slash games, but gave LOTR:TTT a chance because I loved the movies. The graphics, as I said before, are very nice and the cut scenes add something to the realism. Although, in my opinion, I think a game filled with this much movie footage cheapens it a bit. They are using already existing footage to elevate a game above its shortcomings.
These shortcomings being that the game offers very little beyond just the mind numbing button tapping. The character development is scarce at best and the strong point of the game, the graphics, is lost in the frenzy. It seems obvious to me that this game is designed to be just another cash cow that feeds off the movie's success.

Sweetest game ever. |
| A gamer from Memphis, USA says (2/Jan/2003): |
I could not wait for this game to come out but when it did I was up bright and early just to get the damn thing. It was hard to get but it was all worth it. For me the game hard but there were not enough levels for me. The graphics of the game were stunning they looked almost exactly like the movie.(Although they could have done a better job with Gimli, he looked like sasquatch) The music was great because they had actually put it in from the movie. Although the attack combos were hard to perform when you finally get them down they are terrific. If you don't have this you ought to run out and buy it now! It was worth every penny!

if you have seen the movie play the game |
| Chris from London says (2/Jan/2003): |
The lord of the rings the two towers is a great vision of the movie. And it makes you feel like you are realy in the world of middle of middle earth. The graphics are amazing and the affects are brilliant.Although i think if you see the movie before you play the game, you have a better understanding of the plot and what's going on in the game.I think if you have not seen the movie then you might not understand who the characters realy are, and what the game is based on.But it is still a cool game to play even if you are not a fan of the movie. The feeling of heroism is very strong when you play the game, and i personaly think that it is a masterpiece. I realy enjoy playing it because it is full of action and great scenes. The game actualy shows clips of the movie itself between levels, which links the movie and the game together. I think it is very clever how they have mixed the movie in with the game.I sometimes find the game difficult, but that does not stop me playing it.I think it is my favourite game because i like adventure games alot, and lord of the rings is the perfect adventure game for me. It is a must play game if you are into adventure games.

Let's Kick Sauron's 3D-butt! |
| Filip from Antwerp, Belgium says (1/Jan/2003): |
Before I got the game, i wasn't fond of adventure or RPG games, but "LOTR: The 2 Towers" RULEZ! The graphics are fantastic, you just play as a character in the movie, the characters really come to life (although I prefer some would be dead), you get the hang of the the controls quickly, I really love it! There is only 1 thing I have a little problem with: When you play a mission for your first time, you never know exactlyu how to defeat the Boss. eg: The Ring Wraiths, it took me some time to figure out how i had to defeat them, but that's also something that makes the game more interesting: you have to think how they did it in the movie, not just kick and slay some Orks. I really love LOTR: The 2 Towers, I strongly suggest you buy it (if you haven't already)

luv it/hate it |
| A gamer from paris, france says (1/Jan/2003): |
Ya game is the best graphics iv seen for the ps2 actually, but like every game there is a flaw. lotr 2 towers only has 1 flaw though, isildour. he has the same abillitys and tributes as aaragon, he fights/acts and has the same upgrades. but yah omfg, ok i just sat down and played it for 13 hours and got all my guys to lvl 10 and through ev thing * all upgrades to * but it took 13 hours.. game is amazing. totally realistic the game play is flawlesssssSs. sorry im a lil incoherent at the moment, cant quite see. anywayz i recommend the game to anyone and everyone. i do think the last lvl, the *secret lvls* are a bit bloody rediculous. 20 lvls of monsters that take 1 hit * with gimli *, $hitty lvl if u ask me, and after it all u get to sauramon and u dont get to fight em, he does his little ooohhheeeooohhh and dissaperes,. lil ba$tard. ok whateva good game i recommend
|
It is a good game but think a little bit. |
| Adam from London,Ontario,Canada says (31/Dec/2002): |
i just got lotr:two towers for my ps2 and I to was blown away from everything that this game has to offer. But when you say that the Lotr:fellowship of the ring sucks and that it is way "different",then you should think again.Fellowship is based on the original book's made by none other than J.R.R Tolkien.
The movies are what Peter Jackson thinks Tolkiens views of The Lord Of The Rings book series would have been if he was still alive. What Tolkien thought of the way Aragorn looked was of course different. What do you think Frodo was actually thin in the books.of course not,he was just like Sam. The Fellowship is just as good because it is based on the books which are the only works of art when it comes to lord of the rings.I read the books four times and find them more interesting to read then watch because you get to imagine the way the story goes, unlike the movies which tells you what happened and forces you to think what each character looks like. BUT PEACE I LOVED THE MOVIES AND GAMES A WELL! OH P.S The E.Mail i put down doesnt work anymore. I dont currently have an E mail. Quapeesh!

A GREAT SURPRISE (LOTR in general) |
| Will from Raleigh, NC, USA says (30/Dec/2002): |
at first i didn't think that i would enjoy playing the game, or even watching the movie... i tried reading the first book long ago and couldn't get into it. i watched both movies out (in the same day) and love the movies! i got LOTR two towers video game for xmas and didn't even ask for it. once i put it in i couldn't stop playing it! two days after i got it i'm already at helm's deep. within the past 2-3 days i've been going back and beating all the levels with all 3 characters. now i'm back at helm's deep. this is one of the hardest video games i have ever played! but it is one of the best! i recommend it to anyone and everyone (even if you don't think you like LOTR, like me in the beginning).

A Great Title With Much to Offer |
| Ryan from West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, USA says (28/Dec/2002): |
The Two Towers was a pleasant suprise after I finished the lackluster Fellowship of the Ring. EA did a great job of recreating the action from both films. The graphics are some of the best graphics I've seen on the PS2. The game's music score also gave the game life. The real-time sequences were blended very well with the movie clips from the film. The characters and the environments were beautifully modeled and textured. The games's fighting system is simple yet complex in many ways. You have the ability to purchase new moves and to gain experience points. The game can be beaten by either button mashing or by learning he moves. The game was kind of easy, but it got hard in some parts. The boss battles were somewhat frustrating because if you die, you have to start at the beginning of the level and work your way back up again. The bonus material was also a great feature for the game. The interviews and artwork will keep you busy when your not playing the game. The game has amazing graphics and a good fighting system. EA did a great job of recreating Tolkien's Middle-Earth and Peter Jackson's vision of Lord of the Rings. The Two Towers is the best game I've bought in a long time and it's worth the $50 bucks or shall I say $52.98. The Two Towers is game that should be experienced by all gamers and Lord of the Rings fans.
