TONY HAS ENTERED A DOWNWARD SPIRAL |
| Trey from Virginia says (1/Dec/2002): |
Don't get me wrong, but THPS4 is lacking something critical. The "extreme" sports genre is quickly running out of steam. Neversoft didn't add anything new or original to this game. I don't care if the levels are "free-roaming", it still feels the same as the original 2 minute timed levels. Your money is much better spent on Vice City. Get this game if you're a rich spoiled brat who loves Tony Hawk, the X Games, and trying to ollie with your 200 dollar skateboard. For everyone else, a rental is just fine. You can pretty much beat this game in one sitting.

X-box is better |
| Dan says (30/Nov/2002): |
This game is the best out off all 3. I have a x-box and thank god for that, because i have played it on the ps2 and i would not be able to stand that music for more than 10 minutes. Anyway, this is a good buy and i will always recommend it!!

Ehhh, I've played harder |
| Bart from Altoona PA says (29/Nov/2002): |
I finished the game in one day, 13 hours. The goals were hard at first, until I found a line I could run with. As for the music, I've learned to take out the red and white AV plugs and plug in my dreamcast so I can play CD's while I'm playing the PS2. That's how annoying the music really was. I also was hoping I could go back through and beat the game with EVERY character, but that's just not the case. Once you've done it with one, you've done it with all of them. Pro specific challenges were the only thing that forced me to change from Bam or Rodney. Even then, once it was done I changed back. All gaps, all goals, all cash (including from mini-games) in 13 hours?? Time to find a new game to play...

good but not as good as !!!! |
| kyle from hamilton new zealand says (25/Nov/2002): |
tony hawks pro skater is good but things that let me down were that the music really sucked the graphics were okay but my personal opinion was that tony hawks pro skater 4 is ten times better on xbox because the graphics are so good and you can play your own music not some crap that activision put on there so my opinion is that if your going to buy a playstation 2 dont buy an xbox with tony hawk pro skater 4.

Tony Hawk 4 Challenges and Music |
| Brett from Ohio, USA says (22/Nov/2002): |
Tony Hawk 4 is a great game and is put together pretty good but some of the things in there like the challenges are a little to easy to do but some are also fun. Some of the challenges where you have to score a certain amount of points are a little too easy. The easiest challenge I think is where you have to score 50,000 points. I got that challenge in under 15 seconds. The producers should of made some of the challenges a lot harder. The other point challenges can be really hard, like when you have to score 1,000,000 points. That challenge took me a little bit longer to do. Another hard challenge is manualing the switch backs in Alcatraz. One of my favorite challenges is cart-racing in Alcatraz with Bam Margera. That challenge is so fun especially when your just messing around. I think the producers made that a fun challenge. Now to the music. I think thps 3 had some better music than thps 4. Some of thps 4 songs are good but other songs are just bad and shouldn't be on there. I think the graphics were good. I don't like the new spine transfer it just makes things easier especially when your doing point challenges. One other thing I like is that instead of the challenges just being their, you have to go to people and they'll give you challenges. This Tony Hawk is a lot more real like now you can just ollie and do a double kickflip and things like that. I wish they had some codes out because sometimes I'll just like to play around and enjoy it more and I know other people are the same way. Thats what I think of thps 4.

Great but lacking cheats |
| @dam from pen. usa says (22/Nov/2002): |
I just got the new thps 4 game and think its great! It has great graphix and great new levels. But the only problem is i'm to dump and don't have anough time to beet the game. I rely on the cheats to onlock skaters and levels and i can't find any! that really brings down the game for me. I thought the hiddon scaters in thps 3 were awsome and i'm dissapionted in the hiddon ones in this game. all in all this game still rocks but i like grand theft auto vice city better!
|
Its bit as good as i thought |
| A gamer from Warminster, PA says (21/Nov/2002): |
Well, i really enjoy the game but i unlocked all of the levels in 2 days, i think that is pretty lame because there are alot of goals but not enough levels. It has gotten pretty boring. But it is the best one yet.........

Killer Online Mode!!!! |
| Lindsey F. from Santa Cruz Ca USA says (18/Nov/2002): |
This game has changed from Hawk 3 in many ways. First is the fact that the game now has 190 objectives, bigger levels, and the eight player online mode! The games controls are a bit tighter than Hawk 3. That alone has its advadages and disadvadages. Also, the online mode has a glitch; if your dial up service loses contact and you are in a lobby and try to go to a new one, the game will freeze. Other than that, the online mode is great! You can find me online at user name Lindsey, or my brother's user name < remove me > at Gem.

Tony Hawk 4 defines previous releases!!!! |
| Casey Brower from Joplin,Missouri, USA says (17/Nov/2002): |
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 defines the skateboarding genre in this rendition of the game. The graphics are very smooth, you can see each trick while it's happening rather than something you would consider a triple kickflip. The gameplay has stayed the same thank god because it wouldn't make sense to change it. Replay value is a 9 also because you can never get bored playing it. I must have played 2 and 3 hundreds of times. I'm on my way with 4. After this review the fun factor addition needs no input becuse it's just fun. Originality has kept the Tony Hawk Franchise going. Sure it's the same game with different modes but hey, that's the best part. It's Tony Hawk. The best making it better. Nuff said.

where's the good Pro Skater music? |
| Steve from Los Angeles, Ca says (15/Nov/2002): |
well..? where is it? the music in this version sucks! there a few OK songs but nothing compared to 3 or especially 2. the graphics, i feel, are minimally better. there is more sound, ie speech and sound effects. the challenges are ultimately the best part. the level do not have nerve racking time limits but the challenges still do. you can just cruise around and do a challenge whenever you like. there are some really great original challenges in this one, like the stolen car challenge. the special moves are really cool but i havent managed to do any yet. i think they should consider changing some of the characters out to make the game a little more varied. the game is awesome, as usual, but the music is weak.

AWESOME!!! |
| Bob Fillman from Denver, USA says (15/Nov/2002): |
Game is totlly awsome! Even though some of the goals are really hard, that just makes for more challenge. Overall an awsome game with the fun factor is a 10. Songs are awsome too!!! I'll be playing this one for a while.
|
Best one yet, but still lacks some features |
| Matt from Florida, USA says (13/Nov/2002): |
I think this is definatly the best yet, however my complaint is the same as every other I've heard. That there are not enough secrets and cheats. I'm sure once they release more cheats for it, everyone will be more satisfied.

Tony Hawk 4 Kicks But |
| Matt .A from Batavia, NY, USA says (11/Nov/2002): |
I definatly think that THPS gets better with every generation. THPS4 is no exeption. The quality of this game is superb, and the overall gameplay is something for other games to strive for. The only thing that is bothering me about it is the fact that the codes for it arent out yet, and for peaple that work and go to school like myself dont have the time to earn everything, and just want to have ten or fifteen minutes of fun once and a while.
|
amazing |
| greg from warren, michigan says (9/Nov/2002): |
i think that the tony hawk games just keep getting better. i love this game. it's worth more than tha $50 that u pay 4 it. the one downside that i noticed are that the objectives are extremely difficult. but who wouldn't love to ride down a shopping cart slalom and street luge on a skateboard. its so damn sweet
|
i'm addicted |
| kelly from san diego, ca says (8/Nov/2002): |
changing the size of a female create a skater's cheast cracks me up. i still really enjoy 3 but we've only been playing for about a week. there's a lot of awsome things on 4 and my friends and spend too much time laughing at our mistakes instead of working on those combos. any one else find beat the combos in the zoo extreemly difficult?

THPS4 |
| paul from rowlett, tx says (7/Nov/2002): |
THPS4 Is the best 1 yet, the career is like totally better cuz theres no time limit! The goals r a lil harder n it takes longer to finish the career. U can buy 2 locked levels, more options in the create skater, u can unlock more options with cash, and u can even buy cheats! The only thing that sux is they need more cheat options like, perfect rail, perfect manual, and unlimited special. The levels r pretty cool, but i wish they would have brought back sum levels from the past 3. This is a definite got to buy product

Danny's Review |
| Danny V. from Queens, New York says (4/Nov/2002): |
I have waited for a year, and finally, it came out. I still haven't beat a career yet, but I will beat it by tomorrow. And I just wanted to say that I am the master, the king, the undefeatable in any of the Tony Hawk games, If anyone wants to challenge me, e-mail me.

More Codes and Secret People Needed |
| Nick-O-Los from USA ALL THE WAY says (4/Nov/2002): |
x-actly what the title say this games needs more codes and secret characters. the game is really great, the skaters graphics are a little cudy and the create a skater it as open ended as i hoped but hey im thankfull the game came out. personally though i want gta vice city though. so if you dont like my opinion bite meh! later

Good but not great... |
| Raun from Chicago, IL says (2/Nov/2002): |
So finally, the long awaited THPS 4. I wouldn't have minded waiting a little longer if the developers had done some more testing. It took me a whole 2 days to finish this game, 100%. This means all of the challenges, all of the cash, all of the gaps, everything!! part of the fun I got out of the first 3 games was that you had to learn and become accustomed to playing the game with EVERY single pro. You can simply create your own character, then finish everything in the game with him/her, well, other than the pro-specific challenges. The other thing I was sorely disappointed in was how few cheats and bonus options you could actually earn just by playing. In THPS 3, you had an insane amount of hidden characters and cheats. So like the subject says, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is good but certainly not great!!"

Best Game Ever! |
| Nick from PA USA says (31/Oct/2002): |
Thps4 is the best game in the tony hawk series and the best game ever. the amount of fredom is amazing and there are so many extras it will take even a thps pro like me a while to finto finish it off. the addition of mike valleli put this game over the top and they should definatly include him as one of the pros in thps5.
