| Keir Ashby from England says (30/Mar/2004): |
Burnout 2. Sequel to burnout and little brother of burnout 3 {which will melt the footpath in autumn} will no dissapoint.I's more of a bash 'n' crash than assasinae and destroy'.Stunning graphics powerful gameplay and an immense crashes makes burnout 2 the point of irresistable games.Burnout 3... will its even more stunning crashes take the crown though ?!

It really burns... |
| Brad Felizardo from Angola, Luanda says (25/Nov/2003): |
I'll start by saying that this game is greater than Gran Turismo (in some aspects) and greater than Need for Speed (in all aspects, except music). I saw it's preview in BMX XXX, and decided to buy it amazed by it's preview and the slogan "Point of Impact". First i was amazed by the new graphics on Need For Speed, the speed, we can feel it, cool cars, but NFS sounds like a car preview or car publicity game or something like that. In Burnout 2 you can feel the speed too, and i started to open my mouth when i saw the "Burn" feature of the game (see that flaming fake of NFS3 just to see the road? In Burnout2 you can reach almost that speed, but not in that "kind of speedburn"). Just that of car crashing can make you consider Burnout 2 better than NFS, and even games like Destruction Derby can stay miles behind, in NFS you come on a crazy 150 of speed and watch how the car simply stops like a toy when you make a frontal accident. Well, but all games have some points better and worst, i wish i could do a table comparing some aspects between NFS, Bornout 3, and Gran Turismo.
What really made me open my mouth in a "widemod" was the Crash for Cash mode, you can mix all the modes of NFS but they won't beat the Burnout Crash for Cash, it's amazing, wha? Pursuit? You can do that on Burnout 2 too, and it's a "more real" pursuit (you can crash your ride right? everybody too...). But i hope that in future versions of Burnout they fix some errors and make things better like the cameras, the normal cars are like prototypes, i think they made them like that for easy crashing, but we hope to see more detailed cars ready for crashing in next versions, and the cars should still work a bit with some damage. Also if they try to search for real music the game will be more exciting, not that those soundtracks are bad after all, but some cool rock with voices, fast hip hop or techno with women voices would do.
Hey, just to end, why no intro in this game? Is it because my Burnout is in spanish or something? A game like this without a cool intro? That decreases the "coolness" of the game a bit... in the preview that comes on other Acclaim games the "2" of the title really burns, i was waiting to see that in the intro or something. And for Need For Speed fans, if you buy Burnout 2 you'll meet a conclusion, that Need For Speed is better in style, but Burnout better in quality. And i can't see BMX XXX in StationPlay.com! I wish i could do a review of it too, BMX XXX is the game that's better than Gran Theft and Tony Hawk's (2/3/4)...

Good But Not The Best |
| A gamer from Concord, New Hampsheire says (4/Jul/2003): |
I really liked the crash mode as well as the face off in championship mode but the thing is it ins't as good as NFS or Gran Turismo 3. The fun factor would be a 2 and gameplay was a 1 and the graphics is a 6. It beat Gran Turismo 2 by along shot and it beat Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 by a LONG SHOT!

it sucks |

Better Than The First One |
| Racing masta from Alhambra,California says (10/May/2003): |
I instantly got hooked on this game. I bought it because i had Bunout on the Gamecube and I thought it was pretty good. But Burnout 2 blew the original out of the water! My favorite part of the game is DRIFTING!!!! Its even more fun to boost while you're drifting-give it a try. I know you cant depend on one persons opinion to buy this game, but I have a lot of racing games on different systems and I know when I see gold. And this game definentely is GOLD!!!!!!!! If you dont't trust what I say I reccomend you rent it and trust me on this one-you'll love it!!

Pure Excitement |
| Jordan from Wilmette, IL, USA says (25/Apr/2003): |
I couldnt believe what I saw when I first picked this up. Burnout 1 was the reason I bought a PS2, and burnout 2 is better in everyway. I have only 2 complaints about this game, and that is the vertical 2 player split screen, and the multiplayer crash mode on the same controller. The graphics are very crisp, and are unusually smooth. The crashes are in a league of their own. The music is good, and its really cool to hear the volume go up when doing a burnout. The pusuit mode isnt as good as it is in NFS, but its still a lot of fun. I always sit on the edge of my seat when I play this game. If youre looking for a racing game, pick this up before Gran Turismo 3.

not quite the best, but good |
| A gamer from Des Moines, USA says (23/Apr/2003): |
This was a very different game compared to other car games. The controls weren't the best, but other than that, just about everything was perfect. I especially liked how they chose to put a crash mode in to make this unique. Improvement needs to be made on where you start out when you crash (It's caused me to crash a second time in a row because I started out in front of a gate). Just one last thing- no offence, but it's ridiculous how some of these suggestions were! You shouldn't rate this game on how it isn't as good as another entirely different game like Grand Theft Auto! Why would you want to explore while you're in the middle of a race?!

Best game of 20... already! |
| Tom Charville from Cardiff, Wales. says (10/Apr/2003): |
A few days ago, a copy of this game entered our house. We still haven't watched any telly, because we've been playing this far too much.Crash mode is a whole lot of fun, the object being to crash, obviously, and cause the most damage. The Championship mode, however, forms the bulk of the game, and it is here where a comparison to the original Burnout is most relevant. The game physics for the cars is now far more realistic, and it's harder to crash - though not that hard. The difficulty of each track increases steadily, making it a challenging and rewarding game, unlocking new tracks and cars as you go.Pursuit mode, which starts off as being a subcategory of races in the Championship mode, is also quite fun, and infuriating when the pursued car just gets away with one block of health left.
In summary: if you liked the original Burnout, you should buy this game. If you didn't like the original Burnout, you should buy this game anyway because it's been improved and is different enough that you might like this one. If you don't own a PS2, buy one, then buy this game. It's that good.

Only lasts a weekend |
| Daniel G from Cambridge, UK says (23/Mar/2003): |
This game is very entertaining and offers alot of fun. Crash mode can provide some cool looking crashes if you are stuck in the championship, Pursuit mode is OK, but nothing special and adds a little fun in two player. The inclusion of stingers or backup cop cars would be fun, like NFS. The Champoinship is entertaining if slighly repetetive. The championship contains face offs to win other cars, pursuits and grand prix races, none of which last long. Then the Custom Championship is unlocked, which is pretty much the same, but with the oppertunity to win better cars. Only at the very end does this game provide a challenge. It is a simple and fun game, without much too it and it is a little too short.

Like Car Accidents |
| Sarah from Toronto Ontario Canada says (6/Mar/2003): |
This game is for those who like crashes and don't have a extra car to do it on the freeway . The down side of this game is that it's not challenging .The game is too short .Not many coarse. Its not no Grand Turismo or Grand Theft Auto but it is fun seeing your vehicle smashed up .So I gave it a rating of 6

BURNOUT 2 |
| chris from myrtle beach SC says (23/Feb/2003): |
This game is ok i rented it and i really dont like it they need to make it like grand theft auto where you can go around the city freely and explore new things the graphics are good but the gaming experiance sucks bad i rate this game a 5 because it has good looking graphics and good crashes but the gaming experiance just sucks

fun but not need for speed |
| A gamer from USA says (17/Jan/2003): |
I bought this game because I had heard that it beat NFS hands down. While Burnout does have the edge on crashes (the cars flip and lose parts and also cause other cars to lose control) it loses to Need for Speed in every other category. I found the game to be too easy and too short. Also the environments are not versatile enough. There are a few hidden areas but basically you take the path the game wants you to take. Also Burnout does have a pursuit game, but this pales in comparison to NFS. First, you cannot be chased while racing. You can only be pursued if playing two player. Also NFS forces you to cause the car to come to a stop before giving them a ticket, but in Burnout you only need to hit them ten times. NFS also has real cars.
Burnout 2 does have a crash game which I thoroughly enjoyed. This gives you a busy intersection in which your goal is to cause a chain reaction crash and collect as much insurance damage as possible. This was a blast but soon got old. The replay system...wait there is no real replay system. The game automatically replays the race with it's own choice of cameras, causing you to miss what you really wanted to see i.e. your opponent flipping down the street.
It's not that I had a terrible time, but I did crave NFS upon comparison. I must admit the game is fun to play. Despite these bad points Burnout 2 is a good rent. Fun to play for awhile with some friends, but not an incredible gaming experience.

Biger better faster more..... |
| Bjorn from Roosendaal, Holland says (12/Oct/2002): |
An overall improvement over the first game: gameplay/carhandling has tightened, powersliding will feel like second nature the first time you pick up your dualshock.
As a result most of the times you will feel in absolute control of your car which is a good thing concidering the overall pace of the game. This game is by far the fastest racer ever !! No other console racer even comes close to this one. The first couple of races are okay but half way through the game the pace really picks up and races become sheer suicide attempts. And just when you think things couldn't possibly move any faster there's the "turbobutton" The trick is to drive as reckless as possible (wrong side of the road and drifting etc..) this will build up your turbogauge, once full you can press the turbobutton to create an effect only matched by the "fast forward" button on your VCR. Surroundings become a blur and your car moves so incredibly fast it's ridiculous. Sometimes you'll just have to rely on sheer luck to make it to the end of the track in one piece. It's so fast it's almost to much. Don't play this one when your just out of bed or when your tired!! Play it with a sixpack of energydrinks on the table because you'll need all the contentration you can get!! Truly an adrenaline rush!!
Overall the game is excellent and well worth your cash!!
One thing though: You've probably seen those awesome screenshots of those "fast & furious" style "customcars". Well those cars ARE in the game but they will require a lot of hard work to obtain. They are not available from the start..you have to complete the entire championship mode just to obtain the first and a SECOND championship mode to get the rest, this was a dissappointment to me because you have to play for a lot of frustrating hours to get to those cool cars!!
See ya!
