NBA shootout 2003 looks a little better graphic-wise than a NBA Live game on playstation 1. You can't tell really who the players are. On the other hand it has a few things I like, like career mode where you create a player and play in the summer leagues and than possible get an offer from an NBDL team (basically a minor league basketball team affliated with the pros). Then possible on to an NBA team. Another cool feature is where you can create your own dunk. The game itself has a pretty long life-span because don't get into the NBA your fisrt year unless you average like 50 poinst a game. The music gets repetive. The crowds are horrible theyjust get up at any time and cheer. Also if you like popping threes or really shooting a shot from more than 5-feet out you make it maybe 25% of the time. They really seemed to concentrate on what the power forwards and centers for offense when they created. The season mode is sucks to because you can't play it more than 1-year.Unless your a die-hard 989 fan which idon't know how anybody could be I would go with live. It's worth renting like I did but only because blockbuster didn't have live in. Final verdict 4 out of ten and I would go with live.

Yeah, I just finished playing 989 Sports NBA ShootOut 2003 and I am extremly disapointed. First of all let's talk about the glitchs. There is one when you turn all the fouls off and foul the guy, he flys in the air like a fool. Another is that in the create-a-dunk section of the game, if you postion Ray Allen wrong, in the game, he flys behind the backboard. Graphics are a 1. I can't tell the difference between Richard Jefferson and Jaamal Tinsley. Sound is repetive. Gameplay is the worst, you are always bumping into people and the dribbling is the WORST EVER in a video game!!! Lifespan is a 9. Fun factor is a 1. Originality is a 2. This game isn't worth a rental. I repeat, do NOT rent or buy this game.

I have NBA shoot-out 2003 and it's horrible. I am selling it as soon as possible. They shouldn't create this game with Live 2003 out because it makes it look even worse. I can't do great cross-overs or unbelievable dunks because they dont exist. I wish I would've known before hand.

This is the worst NBA game ever made. Have you ever seen Avery Johnson block Shaquille Oneal. Well it happened in this game. The graphic is horrible and the entire game is weak. The dribble moves are very slow and you get blocked about half the time.

For all you slackers who can't take a challange, this game rules. The graphics are not the best, but the gameplay, is good. I'll give this game a nine because, it is hard. The player ratings suck! I mean Vince Carter is only the 2nd best, when he should be best, and Shaq is only 89. But all in all this game is good... Slackers!

man this game sucked so bad that nething could beat it... i mean the career mode is kewel cuz in the nba thats wut the players go through b4 the get into the nba sumtimes.. the create a player is kewel only cuz u can get the black or white sleeve on ur player to try to make him be allen iverson. the graffics are good for a 989 sports game but i will still like nba 2k3 and nba live 2003. for me this game sucked im lucky i only rented the game and didnt decide to buy it

This games graphics are so bad they should of put one of the Denver Nuggets starters on the front cover. When in the opposite of heaven can Shaq shoot threes from the half court line. I got the game for chrismas and ive been wanting to take it back to Santa ever since.The sound effects are alright but that guy who makes all of those corny phrases during the game needs to shut up.None of the players look like themselves on the game the faces are blured out and the jerseys numbers are all odd shaped. Shooting on the game is rediculus compared to NBA live that's probably why they named the game NBA Shootout becuase it takes all day to learn how to shoot. The freethrow shooting is even worse because you gotta line the green balls up and release it some funny way to make it. The makers should of spent more money on the graphics and dementions of the game rather than put comercials out for it.

Okay the game basically exactly like shootout 2003 for PS1. The graphics suck!!!! I mean you look at the graphics and it reminds me of atarri or nintendo. Don't but this game, I repeat do not buy this game. This is my first basketball game for ps2, and I'm dissapointed. Hey whoever's working at 989, You are on crack!Shootout 2003 sucks!Graphics-1,edit your player is cool because you can put the sleeve on any player or your created player and make him look like iverson, and then there's gameplay, fouls every second, and the free throws, I mean come on 989!YOu guys make your game so difficult and annoying, 989 please next time you come out with a b-ball game let these reviewers here say it's a 9 star!!1

Come on, you can do better than this. Okay maybe not, I spent close to 40 bucks on this game what a waste of money. PS2 is supposed to be about good graphics this game had very little. I sold this game yesterday, so I could buy a better game. What were y'all thinking, the players looked like blurred figures. I had to put the game on easy just to play. I will say there is maybe only one good thing the customize player, good job on that!! I would'nt waste y'all money making NBA shootout 2004,unless you people plan on having good graphics. One thing that also sucked was I got bored with this game fast, I would rate the fun factor a 2. This is my first game from 989 sport and I doubt I'll buy anthor one, unless y'all graphic improve. One thing else the audience looked like little specs of colored dots.

Come on. I have NBA live 2000 for N64 and those graphics are better than these ones. They suck. The game is sort of fun but sometimes gets very boring. Also the team rankings suck. I wasted alot of valuable money. This is the last 989 sports games i will ever buy!!!

what the hell were these guys thinking, and the guys on video talking bout how hard the worked on that nonsence, and how much betta it is this year, they need to be fired. and yeah ray allen should sue them for putting him on the cover of such a terrible game. i like the little pre-nba like the nbdl national basketball developmental league, and the create a player thing. gameplay is terrible, and graphics terrible, quite frankly i like the shootout 99 on the regular playstation compared to this 1, and i'm taking the game back to get a lil money back, and i will neva buy another 989 game, because its rubbish!!

this game is absolutely the worst i've played as far as basketball games go. you can't slash inside with the guard or any other player for that matter because the defender is always right in front of you, you're always getting called for fouls, and it has the worst free throw shooting technique i've ever tried. this game just all around sucks, they need to take a couple pages out of the ea sports book and use the methods there.

only thing good about this game is career mode every thing else sucked i mean why do 989 sports make the game. i still ask my self why didnt i get live. this game sucked so bad it had bad memory. i was doing career mode and it had asked me what is my birthdate i put it in but then it will have something else. i was so upset that i had spent my money on this stupid game, the graphics look like play doh 989 do not ever make this game again.

this game was horrible, i mean the graphics stunk the players might as well been walking up the court because the game was so slow, even when u used turbo, it had like a power walk thing happening... THE ONLY GOOD THING about this game was CAREER MODE, thats one of the best ideas ever for a bball game...
except for there are like only 5 diff face choices for the edit player... Plus it was Way too hard to make it to the pros with a guard, I mean it would have been fun if the game hadnt been so boring and every game i would simulate cuz it takes so LONG...

This game is a poor effort. Player movement is weak at best, 989 has successfully incorporated the necessary usage of both joysticks into a combine effort of awkward/clumsy game play. The new and unwanted invention of a shot button that requires timing will add to the list of reasons why you wished you never played this game. If that isn't enough reason for you to put this game on the black list, lets discuss the fact that you can create an 8 foot player and anybody, I mean anybody on the opposing team, regardless of height can send ur shot into the stands. Garbage.
