sooooo cool | | ian oosterbaan from fredericksburg, TX, USA says (2/Mar/2004): | This is the best desighner game i've ever played in my life. Yes, true it takes a long time to creat your own fighter, but hey, it's all worth it once you actually get to fight. I've never played a fighting/desighning game as awesome as this.
I really liked this game because you don't only have the choice of one fighting style. instead you get to choose the type of style you want to use, for example: karate, judo, tie-qundo, etc., or you can just throw it all together and create your own new style of fighting. I am in karate myself, so I know a little more about fighting and moves than most people, so it is easier for me to determine what moves will be more affective than another.
I also liked in this game how you can choose what keys do what move.
Some people just would rather not take the time to create/edit, and improvise with the players given to them. But me on the other hand, I like games where you can create your own player and go through the whole game with the same player, so this is the game for me.
| The game needs more features | | Rich from Riverside RI USA says (13/Aug/2003): | I bought this game and found it to be pretty good. Creating your own fighter is great, but it can get old fast. You don't get many options. The game itself doesn't have a story to it. That is a bad mistake. I feel this title could have been better if it could hold your interest longer. once you play the actual game and beat it, the fun tends to stop. I have to give it six stars for the edit mode section. making punches and kicks is the best element. I love fighting games, but it needs a story behind it to motivate the player. It is a good game for the creative types, but you might find it boring after a while if you expect a great deal of action. It is a good game, but not a great one.
| Best designing game ever since RPGmaker | | A gamer from Glendale Heights, Illinois, USA says (18/Apr/2003): | You think things could get better with all these new games with cool modes and graphics? Well, if you said no, you're wrong. Fighter Maker 2 is an awesome game where you can make fighters, edit their sequences, and motion. I never played Fighter Maker, but I bet it wouldn't be as great as the new one. There are a lot of parts to keep you from getting bored of using the same parts over and over again. If you do the right things, you can create Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue and Shenmue 2! Play it for the time of your life!
| Very cool. | | Darkness Burns Brightly from Norman, Oklahoma, USA says (30/Dec/2002): | As I'd been telling people over and over, this game takes PATIENCE. The character creation is quite possibly the longest, most tedious process ever created. But long and tedious aren't always bad. You are allowed almost complete control over the appearance and movement of your characters. Which I like. On the original Fighter Maker PS, I created such wonderful characters as Bomberman and The Evil Wolflike Superdude! And this game allowed me to import them. TEWS LIVES AGAIN!!! As has been stated, though, you don't get the option to create backgrounds. Who knows, maybe when the Cable Adapter and PS2HD are released, we'll be able to DL more? Heh heh, fun.
| Ups and Downs | | Alex from Nanticoke, USA says (11/Dec/2002): | First off I would like to say that this game is not for everyone. If you want an action packed fighting game NOW, then you might as well play Tekken. However, if you are like me and have the time, patience, and determination to build a decent fighter, than you may want to take a look at this game.( Yes, this is one of those games where you must READ the instruction manual instead of looking at the pictures.) It is very open-minded when it comes to creating charaters and attacks, but in the same sense very complicated (taking almost an hour to make a charater's standing motion perfect) but it was probaly because of my perfect-or-nothing attitude.(Wich is good to have for this game.)Creating characters and their moves is also a LONG process. Most people i talk to assume that it would only take about 30 min. tops. Well, they are so wrong that it IS funny! I have had the game for about 3 days and still dont have my character finished (but im almost done). It is fun,However, to create characters that make no sense what so ever, like my Blue skinned Viking Ballet Dancer who breaks her back every time you press down and does the robot dance when you press O. The Graphics to this game are better than i expected. If I could compare them to any other game, I would say a little better than Tekken 3. The sound is nothing to brag about. All this game is missing is a level maker.
| My thoughts... | | Kade from California,USA says (30/Nov/2002): | This game took me a long time to figure out, having never played the original. There were times when I did get frustrated with the horribly long character creation process.I've been playing it since it came out and I'm still trying to learn it all.Overall, the graphics are good. And the sound and music turned out well.It even gives you the ability to take characters you created in the original game and convert them over to the new format.
The only real thing missing from the game is the ability to create your own stages/backgrounds for your characters. The lack of different facial expressions kinda sucked too, only 5 to choose from.
