Differences: Better graphics ever. Worst gameplay ever too. | | Brad Felizardo from Angola, Luanda says (29/Aug/2003): | I'll start by saying the good things, the game has really great graphics and music, well... this is PS2, right? The graphics are great, EA Sports made extraordinary players and stadiums, making the game a really digital football.
Now the bad things...
To tell the true, i don't know why EA SPORTS made this game in this way, i expected more of it and i know that EA was capable of doing more, just check this:
-There is NO Custom Teams, NO Custom Players, that means that you can't create a team, create a player or modify any player. (Oh damn, how can i create my lovely Angola?)
-There is no Free Camera on Replay, you can't rotate or zoom any camera on the Instant Replay option on the menu.
-Cut-scenes are very short (when you make a goal, etc).Sometimes the camera is very close to the player but you don't even have time to see his face!
-The most close camera isn't close enough, it's like FIFA 2000 when talking about cameras.
-There is a lot of repeating reactions of the players. Ex: The player allways falls in this position: |/ in a foul.
Just with this details up there you can see that, if you are one of the experts in playing that love to put an amazing FIFA DATA on the memory card will not be able to do so. In "expert words", you'll only need it for saving leagues, tournaments, etc.
The most frustating thing is that even the amazing graphics of the game can't be well explored as you can see (No Free Camera in the Instant Replay with that amazing music, what tha hell is that?), also, the gameplay is very annoying, check this:
-There are lots of stadiums, well made stadiums, but a really pathetic thing is that you can't choose a desired weather, not even night or day!!! Looks like a joke doesn't it?
-A really reduced numbers of teams. No Portuguese League, and there aren't any great leagues like in FIFA 99 and 2000.
-The game doesn't have more stunts (fitness) than FIFA 99, not even 2000! There is a pathetic way of making stunts called "EA Freestyle", and the stunts are soooo poor that it's hard to pass trough the opponents with them.
-Great goals? Great momments? No... You can't make those goals that you can do in 99 and 2000, you can call "doing or making goals" as "to put the ball inside"... well... like golf, you see?
I really became disappointed with this game, only the players graphics and the music amaze me. Can you think how cool could it be if we AT LAST could use a Free Camera in the Instant Replay while earing those magnific tracks like Hide U, Dy-na-mi-te, In My Mind, etc?
If you want this game because "you are a fan of FIFA or football", you must buy it because sometimes is cool to have this FIFA, friends love it. But if you want real gameplay and competition, you better grab the best FIFA ever made by EA SPORTS: FIFA 99.
| Must get this game! | | Will Sommers from USA says (9/Jan/2003): | Right, I will explain everything about this game in order of the review list! Graphics, could they get any better, not as far as I am concerned. The graphics beat The Getaway, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and all the games that are considered mint! The detail on the football and every other part of the game is incredible. They must have spent pure amounts of money to build up the graphics. You can tell which player is which by the face, and by boots. They have the latest details such as Beckhams hairstyle and adidas predators. You can tell which stadium is which, what football you use in different matches, it rocks! I find the graphics perfect and I cannot find any faults about them whatsoever. Sound. The sound is unbeatable. There is always something new in the commentary that you have never heard. The crowd make great sound effects, there is a variety of different music varying to Fat Joe to Miss Dynamite. The Sound is clear and crisp, and the crowd even cheer and rise from there seats when you score. Gameplay. The gameplay is very entertaining and U never get bored unless you are not easially entertained. I have had this game since the day it was released and i still love it! Fun factor, there is over twenty different matches to play, and you never get bored of the great extras like team management and being able to walk around Manchester Old Trafford and watch cars park up in the car park. I advise this game to everybody on Earth, and the martians on Jupiter.
| Greatest Football Game In The UK At The Moment | | Mike Price from England, Lymm says (9/Jan/2003): | I have played many games such as Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and The Getaway, which in most peoples opinions are great, but this, I may as well put GTA Vice City and The Getaway under my floorboards and drop a match in there. This game is cool! The Graphics are unbelievable! Every detail you could think of is there! The game has a variety of eleven different premierships, Italian, German, so on. There are trophy tournaments to compete for, twelve different trophies. The wide choice of matches never get's boring! Even camera men are on the side of the pitch, there is cool action replays and masses of different kits and boots, create mode is pretty cool! You can choose from hundreds of different facial features down to ability and profile, you can build your own team and make a profile for them. In seasons you always play different sides, and there is tables and cups to play for. Sound. The greatest game of all time, GTA4 is now overpowered by FIFA 2003, with it's incrediable sounds, the crowd cheering, sounds of fireworks and songs sang before matches, there is over a hundred words in commentary, this game rocks. The gameplay controls are basic and easy to learn, i have never became bored of the game, i play on it every night and progress into my season, the fun factor, you can play in tournaments, such as knockout stages, all teams, if you are into football, or even not, I recconmend you to get this cool game now!
| Get off your backside and go and get this game! Quickly! | | Mark Syers from England, Sunderland says (9/Jan/2003): | I rate this game 10 star for one reason, it kicks ass! What is it with this Grand Theft Auto Vice City, it stinks compared to this game! This game hammers any other game I have played on down to size. I have never seen such great graphics in my entire life! Sound effects rock! Everything about this game is excellent! The graphics are perfect compared to any other games I have been on so far! The sounds are so real, the crowd cheer and throw items on the field! Policeman check the crowds and they actually clap and rise to there feet when you score! You can actually see the car park outside Old Trafford, when you begin a season, you can walk around the car park, the whole of the stadium and talk to players, explore the locker rooms! You can buy players and sell players, hire managers and make subsitutes, this is all based on the fun factor. But my favourite parts of the game, is everything! I love the commentary! So sweet! Over hundreds of words and everything seems so spot on when you compare it to a real football game! I advise this to everyone who has heard of the word, FOOTBALL!

The graphics, they are personally unbeatable in my opinion, I have never seen so much detail on one player in my life. Every player looks exactly like the real players on TV. I love the effects on the crowd, and the stadium atmosphere, and downtown graphics. They look like real life, and are truly great! Studs or even on the bottom of the shoes, and the shirts are updated and you can see everything on them. Sound, this to is unbeatable and beats all of my games by far, even The Getaway. With real sounds of cars downtown, night club music, and in stadium sound effects, the crowd cheer, sing and chant, the players speak, the commentary is crisp, and the sounds fit the graphics like a jigsaw. Gameplay. The gameplay is incredibley fun, you can go downtown at day or night, if you begin a manager season, go inside night clubs to look for players to hire, drive cars and boats, it rules. The matches are always different with tournaments and cup championships. And yes, you get your moneys worth, in this you do anyway.
| The greatest Football game since World Cup 2002 | | Tom from England Warrington says (3/Jan/2003): | This is the greatest game of all time! Let me explain in order. The Graphics. The Graphics rock, if i walked into my friends house and he was on it, I would think it was real life. You can tell which player is who from the face. The crowd actually clap and cheer, and fireworks are set off in the crowd. The players boots actually have studs on the bottom of there shoes and every detail you could think of, down to the piece of copyright writing on the ball is on! The nets move, and the field has shadows on it from the crowd! Police and cameramen are on the sideline! The sound. Perfect sound FX from the Crowd, commentary and subsitution warnings. The commentry is perfect and has over one hundred different words. It never get's repetitive. The Fun Factor. There is thousands of different matches and seasons. Like club championships and everything else. You can choose from every football team on the globe. Lifespan, you will never get bored, until the game breaks! Totally must get game of the year!

I play on it for as long as I can, on mainly seasons. I love the way you can now be manager. So cool! I absolutely love the way you can choose which kit you can wear! Even when you play away teams you can wear your home kit! There is 4 difficulty modes which I think suits a new player. The gameplay has never became boring to me once, and I love the way the graphics in the crowd move, talk and chant like proper tv. There is new game controls, new dribbling passing shooting and tackling. You can take free kicks and bend the ball, train at the training ground, and there is over 10,000 real life looking players with 350 official teams. There is proper flags and offsides, injuries and close up foul replays. There is in stadium and out atmosphere, proper orange tarmac outside the field, proper flags hanging and songs sang from the crowd! If you don't have this game, I advise you to get it now!
| WOW! My head is going to blow like Tizer! | | Moobarikay from Pakistan says (9/Jan/2003): | Oh my god! This game is so cool! Have U seen the graphics? They are son lifelike it is unbelievable! I can't believe you can start manager seasons and go downtown, look around manchester, I love the way you have to do missions and find football players around the stadium in the limited amount of time. You can pick teams to manage, and even play a team season. Begin a season with any team you can think of! With it being completely updated, they have the latest kits with the best graphics, you can even see the badge on the shirt and studs on the shoes. It can get a bit over the top in the manger season when the police gaurd the doors of the stadium and you have to have enough money to buy an I.D to pass or you get shot! But the team season is so cool! Everything looks real and every match is different, ie, different kits, pitches, stadiums, teams, cup shots, everything cool. Create mode rocks to, create yourn own team and even call them whatever you want!
| Love the way you can be a manager! | | Willy D Nobson from Denver says (11/Jan/2003): | One good thing about this game is the awesome graphics, look like real life, the life like sounds, the gameplay is excellent and always different, and the value of the game is worth it's price. But my favourite part of the game is when you leave downtown, but you can only do this as a manager! You can explore around Manchester and it's so cool! Explore any town infact, depends on which team you hire. I can't believe you can climb ladders up to the top of buildings in the city, go inside museums and the people actually walk and talk. Play as a manager and you still get to play the game with your team! But you need money to get your team a shot at the European Title. If you play a team season you can play unlimited matches for cups and titles, and battle your way to the top of the table. The pitch looks real life, and there is actually eleven different camera shots! Get this game I advise you!

The graphics are awesome, there is always something new to see on the football field, the players look life like and so does downtown where you become a manager. The sound is absolutely wicked! There is over 100 sentences in the commentary, the crowd talk, cheer, and shout out comments or scream at the referee! When you play as a manager, you can hear players talking. There is a choice of ten songs, all different. Gameplay, this is cool and never get's boring! I play about sixty eight matches per day on my season! And there is always new matches like leauges and tournaments, friendlys, training, and others. Value, the value of this game is high, and definetely worth it's price! I think if you don't have this game, buy it, you will thank me!

The gameplay is unlimited with brainbusting fun, I love the way you can leave the stadium, and explore around Manchester. You can start a season as a manager or a team, if you play as a manager, you get to explore the city of manchester and look for players with a yellow arrow marking them out. You can talk to them properly, and you can hear there voices, begin a conversation and earn money as you become a better manager. Playing as a team is exciting in cup matches as you battle extremely good teams of the italian Leauge and fight your way to the top of the table! Everything about this game, I consider, Perfect!

bad things: where the hell is netherlands???? the gameoptions are just 4, no edit mode, dumb A.I.,the most often way to score is face the keeper one on one and shot hard, once u get how the different levels of A.I. works its so boring the best fifa soccer game was fifa wolrd cup 98 for the PS1, if they put the same gameoptions of fifa 98 to the next fifa“s it will be a better game, but please create another A.I. its like playing with marbles
| Could it get any better? | | Barney from USA says (9/Jan/2003): | I love this game for so many reasons. Unbeatable graphics, magnificent sounds, and all the best things rolled into one. I love the way the crowd actually have seats and when they rise off there seats, the seats go back up, like proper seats in the cinema! And they actually hold coke and popcorn in the hands! There is also a big screen for people who cannot see the game well, and I love the way when you play as a manager season, you get to look down from the top seats of the stadium and watch the game, like a birds eye view, and you control it! If U don't have this game, buy it for £50 at a gamer store!
| 1 Word: Good | | Alexander Linder,Leicester from Leicestershire,England says (11/Jul/2003): | This game is good. but it isnt as good as it could be!!the fouls are unrealistic and the ways u score are 1 big joke also crossing the ball and that u cant head the ball on ur own is wack-ish. but otherwise it is a brilliant game..it is a vast improvement on FIFA 2002.cant wait till FIFA 2004!! The chants are soo amazing that when i first played it (Man utd) i couldnt believe my ears. The graphics are so and so to get the true experience you need a strong PC but it is still Fun on most average PC's. As i havent played past 2 seasons i can comment on the lifespan.

I love every detail and aspect of this game! There is nothing bad that I could possibly say about this game! The graphics are so amazing! I have never seen anything so detailed in my life! The graphics are so good they seem real life. The nets move and the football is 3d, everything is 3d and the effects put into the faces is brilliant. Sounds are great with the improved commentary, I love this game more than any other game in the world!

The magnificent commentary, real sound effects like a proper game, and songs chanted from the crowd. My personal favourite is playing as a manager season, you can go downtown, look for players to hire, take boats and helicoptors to other parts of England, and the good thing you get to play matches as well as being a manager! If you don't have this game I would go out and buy it!
| ... | | Haider Akram from Lahore, Pakistan says (7/Jul/2003): | this game really was good untill iss pro evolution 2 came into the scene and stole the show. graphics are pretty descent(better than 2002 definately). overall the sense of command over the game makes the player feel elated and leaves an overall lasting impact upon the player. the teams are as expected updated to the latest player. the players that are left can easily be transferred as in the previous versions of fifa soccer.

Better things to do like unlock all star teams and cups. The music is exellent from miss dynamite to Fat joe. The commentry is fitting and u must get it. For christmas or anythin its a must buy game with gr8 gameplay. Its 10 times better than pro eveloution soccer 2 and this is football 2003.
