Boring!!!!!!!! | | Sergio_13 from Canada says (28/Dec/2003): | k dragonball budokai 2 was good 2 an extent but there are many flaws with it, thats why im giving it a 1, my first complaint is that there is no difference in attack and defense, for example Goku who is one of the strongest fighters has 100 fight and 100 defensive, yamcha who is not even a saiyan nor could even beat a member of the ginyu force has 100 attack and 100 defensive!!??? how the hell are they equally strong, Goku killed majin buu for god sake Yamcha's power lvl at that time was still not enough 2 even kill frieza i mean come on lets give the gamers some credit, another problem was when the saiyens turn into Super saiya jins, it takes an amazing amount of ki to turn into ssj3 in the shows but in the game goku does it in a snap with a lil flash, in the shows he goes explosive and uses up alot of ki and it takes more then 1 second 2 do.... uhm what else hmmm... i did not like how Frieza and Cell always came back in all the different lvls in the dragon ball world, i mean how many $#< remove me > at !ing times do i have 2 kill them??? its ridiculous.... another was that everybody basically has the same moves... which is not true in the storys, when did Krillen learn Kamehameha??? unno but its there and he learns kamehameha way b4 he even learns destreco disc which is suppose 2 be his main move.... so it gets boring really fast... but otherwise i do like the graphics how they are more cartoon drawn it makes u feel like u more in the game and right there on the Battlefield, maybe im being harsh by only giving a one, but this game dosnt deserve much better...
| Ka....ma......ha......ma.......ha!!!!! | | Sam (Boy) from Pikmin World says (17/Jan/2004): | Well this game is sweet When my bro loaded his vegeta with all this defensive crap Im like still not as good as Brolly hes not in the game though but Brolly is my favorite DBZ Guy then Gogeta But anyway I like shooting Special beam cannon I own Budokai 2 And overall this game is very fun There Is a weird glitch thing I cant remember it very well and we were in like buu saga and they only made it to cell but thats kinda good cause budokai 2 added kid buu super buu and Fat buu I always thought that super buu was the buu that consumed Piccolo ssj3 gotenks and Gohan and The other buu before he consumed them was evil buu But now I got it straight heres what I think Kid buu is stronger then super buu that consumed gohan and ssj3 gotenks and piccolo I think.... O yah Ka...Ma...Ha...Ma...HA!!!!

| After the waiting , it finally came.............. | | Vegeta's final flash from Bruges, Belgium says (15/Dec/2002): | Well, well, well, we've waited for so long, and it finally came true afterall. Let me start by saying that this game IS truly the best DBZ-game ever. Of course it also has to do with that it's on one of the more powerful consoles. OK, let's start off with all the good stuff. The graphics first. The're absolutely perfect!! There's just nothing to complain about, they're just fantastic, I'd even say that everybody looks better in this game than in the episodes! Then we've got the music, but you don't really pay very much attention to it when you play, but the music's great too. You have about 23 characters in the game. And here, you get to turn Super-Saiyan whenever you want to! If you play with Cell, you can transform in his three forms, and idem with Frieza. The controls now. Lucky for us, they're not like in FB, slow, and choppy, now the're very nice. But usually, when we used to do the Kamehameha, we were all used to doing that move with the arrows, and then press the fire button, but now the controls are a little different, but that doesn't matter, you just have to get used to it. The story mode is probably the best thing about this game! You can play the story mode from the arrival of Raditz, till the end of Cell, and yes, I know, you'll say : Why the Saiyan saga instead of the Boo saga? Well, I'll bee honest, I didn't like it at first either, but afterwards, it's still OK, because there aren't any games where you could play the Saiyan saga(You could in Legends, but that wasn't really a story mode, now was it?)Anyway, the best thing about this mode is, that you can see everything re-inacted from the series, and that's incredibly cool to see, it even looks better than the series, and it's all in 3-D wich makes it even better. Despite all the good things in the game, there are some things wich are a little less. For example, the controls may play very smoothly, but they're like legends, wich means that you can only go near and away from your aponnent(you can move in and out from the screen, like in FB)Also, you can not levitate at will, only when you punch your aponnent in the air. But this will not enfluence the game, I can assure you. Then, you have the world of martial arts tournament, and when you win, you win prizemoney, wich you can spend on buying skills at Mr.Popo's skill shop(Yes, you can and have to buy skills to improve your character)If you don't want to improve your character, you can always fight with the fighters in the game, who have most of the skills(buying, and improving the characters' skills to make your own warriors makes it more fun). And when you've beaten the first level in thE WOMAT, you get a special Satan-mode, where you can use the man himself(his moves are pretty cool, really, if you thaught that was a loser, your wrong, he's pretty tough). You can play with characters who weren't used so much in the other DBZ-games, like :Raditz, Dodoria, Zarbon, Nappa. The only thing that bothers me most is the folllowing : The game is designed differently from what we're used to, I mean to say, that the lay-out looks kind of childish, as if Bandai made the game for the younger DBZ-fans. It gets a Pokémon-stadium-look, wich isn't very good. But in overall this game has nothing to complain about, so if you've played the previous DBZ-games, this one can't be missed!

I was expecting something more. Graphics were okay, but the fighting sucked.the combos and fighting styles could have been better as well. also, you couldn't fly on your own will, you had to be knocked into the air. overall, this game is good if you have some spare change, but nothin to save up for.
| this is the worst in the world | | charlie from kent england says (16/Oct/2003): | the graphics on this game are good but there are not enough good players there are no new ones or from GT. i hope to play budika 2 because it sounds alot better with alot more players. i gave the game 1 point because i have enjoyed playing other games on ps2 and ps1 that were also fighting games alot more. i think that this game was quite good value for money compared to other chart games. the game was not realistic enough because in the game the fighters were able to fly around blasting beams. the game was too easy to complete it only took five days to complete.
| Misleading Poster!!!!!!! | | Blue eyes from Skokie,USA says (12/Dec/2003): | This game has a misleading poster failed with false information about the charecters like itv reads:" #19 beated up Goku, tien,Yamacha,Gohan, and Goham, But vegeta turned Super saiyian and destreyed him." and for Frezza it siad that frezza dstroyed the sayian planet to get rid of compinititon. Frist of, #19 beated only Goku and Yamcha ONLY. Frezza got rid off the planent because he fered that a Super sayian would raise and kill Freiaza.
Now that I ranted about the poster on to the game. In Tournment Mode, when you get to the adept and other higher levels You can eaisly get thrown out of the ring, without even pressing a button or striking back. Which afected it's chances of getting a nine. In stroy mode,when you start out you only have two moves, but when you advanced to the Namek and Cell sagas, you gianed more attacks. The bad thing about stoy mode is that for only most of the fights, Your only using Picollo, vegeta,Goku, or Gohan. Also you shuld be alble to use any chareecters that was at the batle site. For example when fighting fdreaza you should also chose picolo, Gohan or Krillion instead of just with goku. also most of the combos are hard to do.
| This games is awsome | | THE KID from England says (6/Dec/2002): | this game is brillent. the graphics are a lot like the cartoon which is good coz i rather it be cartoony then reilistic. the thing that disapointed me and my brother was that the story mode stoped after cell and not kid buu, but a least it starts from raditz. Another good thing is that u can go ssj1 and ssj2 while fighting if u have it, but thats also the bad thing, u can only go ssj1 and ssj2 not 3 or 4. This is without a doubt the best DBZ games yet.

I own Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22, but this is by far the best yet. i hope they bring out a second involving the Babadi Saga, Majin Boo, Fusion and Kid Boo Saga's. That would make it better than Budokai. The one thing i like about the game is the finishing manovers you can land on other characters. The custom characters option is great aswell. The Tournament mode is great. I found the Mr Satan Mini-Game Quite Funny but then again a bit pointless. You don't earn anything is you comlete it. I completed all the tournaments and unlocked everything. The Dragonballs you can collect is great with the breakthrough's you can wish for. The reson why i didn't give it 10 is because all the talking was in japanise. I can't understand a word. It would have gotten 10 otherwise. Thats my summery on this awsome game. I'ts one thats not going to keep me board for a while.
| Too Short! | | Bebi from Virginia, USA says (21/Dec/2002): | Dragonball Z Budokai is by far the best DB Z/GT game out there. The only set back to the game is that there aren't enough battles. There are only about 20 battles in the whole game. One good thing is that you can go SSJ2 with three different characters (Vegeta, Gohan, and Trunks). The graphics on the game are perfect. They look exactly like the show. The voices are done by the people who do the voices in the series on TV. The controls in this game are pretty easy to learn. There are 23 characters in the game. Another good thing is that you can power up to SSJ or SSJ2 in battle. There are a few different modes of play, story mode, practice, world tournament, and the legend of Hercule*. The legend of Hercule must be bought after unlocking Hercule. Overall this is a great game and a sequal should be made.

The characters are bright and colourful and most of the backrounds are very like in the DBZ series. Its fun because most controls are mostly easy and their talking japanise and say things which you cannot understand except it show english text at the bottom of the screen. The tourtamentis great becauseit can show the true strength of your character if there is no one to fight you in battle. Most of the game is based on the story but there is a bit were Cell absorbs Krillin, I don't remember that happening in the Cell saga.
It is a great game with great music to go along with great electric guitars played and great voice actors ( even though in japanise) and would recommend the game to anybody who is a DBZ fanatic and is into fighting games.

I think that the makers of the game, should be very proud. I have heard that the second budokai game should be out some time this year, so I will have to save up my money for that one, but now back the game its self, some aspects of the game could have been changed for instance, the game only goes up to the cell saga, I think that I could have went up to the Majin Buu saga, that would have made the game a little longer and that would have aloud some more charaters to come in, there are alot of charaters anyway, but there could have been more.
If you are thinking of buying the game, you should if not you are missing out on the game of the century. If I had to rate the game on a fun factor on 1-10 I rate rate it at 10, its one of those games that makes you want to play all of the time and you will never get bored off it, even though the games story mode is not that long, there is plenty to do, so gamers buy this game and play, play, PLAY!
| THIS GAME IS AWWWWSOME!!!!!!!!! | | MATT from kentucky ,USA says (2/Mar/2003): | First of all I would like to say this game is awsome. theres twenty-three playable characters including Frieza,Vegeta,and Piccolo!Also the story mode is real cool,you play as characters such as Cell,Goku,Piccolo,and more.The main downfall is you can't play as Majjin Buu or Chou-zou.The story mode like I said is cool,you play through the Saiyan saga,Namekian saga,and Cell games saga.The sound is also great.The original voice actors from the show lend their voices to the game.The game's background music is awsome.While your playing the game music adds an extra edge to the game.The graphics are also sweet.The game makes you feel like your watching the cartoon.The backgrounds also look very nice.It's not just fun to sling your oponent through a mountain,plumb through the ground,or beat on their dead carcass it's fun to watch it happen.After the story mode if you can beat advanced tornament mode and check Mr.Popo's skill shop you will unlock the "Legend of Hercule" mode.{it's where you play in what the public thinks happened at the Cell Games tournement.}The special skill grapics are real good.Like Goku's Kamahamaha or Vegeta's Big Bang Attack looks like your watcing them use their attacks on the cartoon.The most impressive I think are Piccolo's Speacial Beam Cannon,Vegeta's Final Flash attack,and Trunks' Burning Attack. All in all I think this is a excellent game,and evryone I know thinks the same.And if anyone knows where to get any Dragonball z/gt video games in the state of Kentucky please e-mail me.

I rented this game for 5 days I am on day two and I have beaten the entire game, unlocked every character, earned every breakthrough move and beat the legend of hercule mini game. so if you like a game thats fun to play but lacks a lot of depth then by all acounts buy it. but dont come crin' to me when your bored with it after 2 days of playing
| Best Game ever | | Super Vegito from USA says (7/Mar/2003): | DBZ Budokai's a really cool game 'cos the graphics are really good and look like the cartoon, its a bit short, but the game alone makes up for that, it'd be a bit better if you could get people like Majin vegeta, Majin Buu, Super Buu, Kid buu, Chaozu, Master Roshi, Dabura, Vegito, Gotenks and Kibito-Kai, they did miss lots of characters but the characters they did put in are really awesome, the attacks like Trunks' Blaster Cannon and Radits' Double Sunday are really good looking and if you keep pausing and unpausing as its happening you eventually get to a stage where it looks like the person you attacked is self destructing, so all and all, if your a DBZ fan then buy this game!
| Great Game!!!!! | | Lizzy from Bainbridge,Georgia says (8/Mar/2003): | I don't own the game but I do rent it when it is in and I say this is a very good game!!!!!I couldn't beleive how good the grphics and sounds were!The characters actually look like the ones on T.V.!And sound like em' too!!They couldv'e made you be able to jump and fly without you or somebody else being thrown into the air, and also, the moves took a lot of combinations of the remote which made my fingers sore.And the only you could fly/run fast is if you mash the over button like 3 times and hold it.Well, this is a really cool game!!!And even cooler if you play on a big screen!!!

| Not that good, come on people | | Jim from New York says (8/Apr/2003): | I can't believe how many people on here say that Budokai is the best DBZ/GT game ever!! It is not!!! Buy a converter and get one of the imported games, they are much better. Budokai couldn't ever get the story down right. In budokai many aspects of the story mode are off. One for example is that it never shows Freiza getting chopped in half. The story mode is also extremely short. I beat it in about 3 hours on hard. The only real fight in the story mode is the last one against Cell (that one alone took me 45 minutes). They are makin a Budokai 2, that one will be even shorter since it will only have the Buu saga. In Budokai they even skip a saga! I know that no one cares about this saga (The Garlic Jr. Saga), but it would still add more character and at least take up more time in the story mode. It would be nice in Budokai if they had some RPG'ing. Like getting to walk around and talk to people, or train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Well, In all budokai is decent, but no where near the best DB/Z/GT game.
