I truly loved this game. Original voices (except cell at times) and origanal bacgrounds, origanal art also. But the probles were:
1. Too short, i beat it in one day and feel like i dont want to do anything with it anymore.
2. Too easy, I have (on highest diff) been able to completely dodge enemy attacks and get perfect scores without even toughing the X button. I can almost move faster than the system can load what i did.
3. What happened to the origanal fighting? THATS WHAT US DBZ FANS REALLY TRULY WANTED!!! Like the extremely fast paced movement and the occasional through a ball of energy (KI blast is all we have and wouldnt it be nice if you could sit there and charge it up into a big orb) Maybe the dodges could be more smooth.
Anyways, if you ask me this could have been an insult to DBZ. I mean really, it did resemble it in story mode, but in the actual tv show it was much better.
P.S.
***What we need is a DBZ role playing game (rpg). You pick a character and move freely about in a 3d world. Gain levels as you fight and learn new techniques. Perhaps you could create your own character and make it a certain race (saiyan, android etc). This is something i could get into.

it is so cool i wasnt of it for aguess. i love everything but i didnt like it wen you never got buu and never done the buu saga and you cant go to super sayain 3 and 4 but the game is great doh.if you like dbz budokai you will love dbz2 which will have buu and even more charaters you can even create saiyan and other charaters of you choice like buu and super saiyan 4 goku as 1 and that is all i no and if you like dbz bud go and rush and buy it.

I love some of the things in this part of it is the custimization the other part is the real voices thats pretty tight...some things i dont like is that there isnt enough moves and it has alot of button cancilations so u get cheap deaths and less reversals or counter attacks i mean come on why is it that if goku is using kamaehamaeha i cant punch him or hit im some way with out using ki blast...another thing is that why does the screen turn black during the time when they are calling theyre attack why cant i try to hurry and sommon one of my own large attacks and match theyres so that it makes like a big explosion or something... i think u get robbed out of victories just a little to much its a little frustarting at times....>:{.......................the graphics were like good ps1 graphics instead of kick ass ps2 graphics...and finally WHY ISNT THERE A BATTLE ROYAL!!!!!!!!!!!i swear if they dont put in the next one im going to go straight up postal on them ya hear me?!?!

Dragonball z is the best show , manga , game series ever. The great caracters , and their voices , make this game rock. Budokai has lots of depth. 250 capsules, unlocking hercule and saiyaman , and even getting the ss4 goku. Now that's hard (You have to win advanced tornament with everybody!). The graphics don't slack at all. I've had the game since the release date (And it's July 6) and i havent seen any glitches.So get this game even if you hate dbz . you'll have a great time.

I think on B 2 they should have Vegito ss4 goku and gogeta kid trunks etc. They should have the whole ginyu force this time. Cloth's should rip, and when you are powering up/transforming, stuff shold break, rocks would go in the air, and the enemy would get pushed back. You should be able to fly all by your self. And the power aura should stay around you when you power up, and when you fly for cover. something like that. You should be able to push things, and use them as cover. And when you are powering up if the character is really strong, Blast will not hurt you, because of the powetr aura. And another thing, when an enemy is firing multiple shots at you, it should have an advance dodging system, where you can dodge stuff like on tv. when you are running, and the enemy isshooting at you, you should be able to either dodge, or hit the energy blast away from you, or send it right back at the enemy. And when you are doing a spexial attack like the galick gun, and somebody else does an attack, it should be like on tv and you have to press something repeatly/really fast, and that person would win the power struggle, because that person pushed ..... button the fastest with the time limit.

Dbz Budokai is great but they can't charge up and use big bang attack,spirit bomb,burning attack. And it's way way way way way way to easy I tried it and finished story mode legend of hercule in 3 hours and by the way I think Hercule is such an idiot.Now i'll tell every one that get legend of hercule by winning world tornament in expert level. Get expert level at MR popo's skill shop note it's capsule is grey note get adept level at Mr.popo's shop too.One more thing I hope they make a game that starts when Bardock was lilled to the buu saga. from dbz lover.

Dragonball z budokai is one of the best playing games there are,they have tight graphics and nice sound. The reason I like this game so much is because there are several characters and there are many moves. Some of the best characters I think are Cell and Frieza, try to upgrade there armor and moves by buying capsules. The best capsules for them are Frieza 100% form and cells perfect form (power weighted). Those capsules are very helpfull when fighting in the tournament, expecially advanced. Frieza and Cells best moves are spirit bomb for cell and death ball for frieza. You can get most of the characters in the campaign except for 2, Hercule and GT. Saiyaman. you get those to at the adept tournament and the advanced tournament. Custom is very helpfull when fighting tough enemys, a great defence for the androids is the android barrier, it shields you from all ki blasts and it never wears off. The only thing they could have improved is that there campaign was very short.Another thing gt. saiyaman really sucks. he has all crappy moves and doesnt have any ki waves. last but not least I cant wait to check dbz budokai 2 out.

This was the greatest game was the greatest of all the games I played! Let me give you some cheats if your having trouble. This is a great cheat, if you can beat the advance mode with all the caracters you can get Super sayin 3 for Goku. I havn't tried it yet but I heard you can do it. Alwas customize your character. This is also a great cheat, o.k. if you have 2 memory cards make a file on the new one, beat the game and then customize the characters that you want then go to pratice or duel, then when you the see the screen you pick your character, you put tthe other memory card in and then pick your character and then were it says normal on the ritht side you now pick normal or custom. If your having trouble and need qustions E-mail me at joeylivesey< remove me > at msn.com. O.k. lets talk about the game. When you lauch the Ki blast wave, they should have craters in the ground and your clothes should be ripped and your guy has cuts and so forth and so on. I thinck I am going to get Budoki 2 for Chrismas.

budokai is the best fighting game ive ever played though it cut some scenes out, less characters, and less power eg goku cant go ss2 ss3 and has a cheat to go ss4. but still good. though could of more sagas. still good but less harder cheats like how to get ss4 beat everybody in advance mode with everybody

This game I have to say is the best game I have ever played.
I love the music,it goes along with the awesome intensity of the battling.The graphics seem almost like 3-dimensional cartoon+computer animation. The gameplay is a mix of realism and fantasy. The lifespan is just about perfect where you can just get to the point of killing people. I have to say it is a very fun game because there is a lot of variety of what the CPU will do. It was original and unlike any other fighting game. I can't wait to play the sequel, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2. I imagine it will be even better than the first. I recommend this game very much to people of all ages, young and old. It is highly addicting. I just spent the last 10 hours playing it without even getting up to go to the bathroom. Whew, my bladder really hates me right now...and my dad too, since he wanted to play earlier today. heh heh. I look forward to playing more Atari games. The group that designed this game is on to something. Now I am rambling because it has to be more than 200 words yet I have nothing else to say........................

This is gonna be kind of long so read it if u got da time.This game is really easy.I baet it in 1 day.A couple of things dat make me mad are cells wack voice. It stays da same,even in perfect form.Except when he uses Spirit Bomb.The story mode is crazy. They skip a couple of parts though.I really hate not flying on my own. U have 2 get hit in the air 2 get up there.I think beating the tournament mode in advanced is the hardest thing 2 do in the game.The super saiyans are good but they all have the same power limits.SS2 is great plus the Super Kamehameha.The bad thing is that u can only trnsform SS2 with gohan.All the special attacks are great. But the strongest is Goku's Spirit Bomb.In story u will have a little bit of trouble defeating cell with gohan after fighting cell with Goku.I love playing as Trunks.Transforming into Super Trunks2 is crazy. The bad thing is no one else can turn super except 4 Vegeta.Doing the movea are simple.When I first started out I couldn't do anything at all. They should have more characters like MajinBuu.They should also have the MajinBuu saga.This is enough for me,if u need help with the game email me.~1~

Dragonballz is an exellent game the story mode was exellent and they didnt take it up to the Buu saga which means they will make a sequle :) the charecter's where cool especaily when you turn super siyan goku Vegeta and Gohan are the best the only thing i think is anoying is the world tournament in advandced. I got to the final and got beat by raditz but thats only my opinion so anyway dbz-budokai is exellent hopefully the sequle will be better.
ps: you can get goku ss4 by beating the tournament on advanced with everyone and then highlight goku and press select+x and he should power up to ss4 it dosent make him stronger but it looks cool.

I absolutely love this game! It never gets old! Espesially when you unlock Hercule, the moves he does makes me cry with laughter!! It was really hard to unlock the Great Saiyaman and I really hope they make a second one! I was only dissapointed because my favorite character Majin Buu (Fat Buu) was not in the game. If, in the next one they add Majin Buu, then it truely will be my favorite fighting game! This game is awsome, truely awsome!

First of all, let me just say that the DBZ cartoon is excellent. As for every game released for it, well, they suck. And i'm saying this lightly. The graphics are o.k, but fail to capture the true personality of the characters. Take for instance cell. His fighting stance is either exact or similar to everyone elses in the game, and his moveset is very limited and boring. His spirit bomb, probably the most powerful and awe-inspiring up to the cell saga, is shown as just a wimpy little animation in the game. Alright, i'll take a break from cutting on this game and give it its few props it deserves. The capsules you collect throughout the game to better mold your favorite dbz character is fun, and will give you a reason to play the game a bit longer. Also, the moves are quite easy to execute and some of the animations stay pretty close to the cartoon. Overall, this game will only be entertaining for hardcore dbz fans, NOT for fighting game fanatics, for they will not find much depth or strategy in this game.

Dudes and Dudetts this game rocks the house; and im not even into the show or anything... I like the old fashioned beatem' up games and this is one. Just like the original "street fighters"(tm). I could go on and on about this game haveing great graphics and the best cast of villans and good guys... My personal favorite character is Yamcha (R). I also like many others but thats my fav. i just wanted to put this in because it rocks!!!

i have to agree with the rest of thim the graphics are good but there sonds suck and they only put the vegeta saga raditz saga frezia android and so on but where is gerlic jr, cooler,majin buu and all his stages, android 13, 14, 15, and super android 13 this game was fun but it could have been better. I beat the game in 30 mins I WOULD GIVE IT A 6 THOU FOR EVER THING ELSA

The time I got it I whas exited but first it turned out cool!By day 2 I already beat the game and got all characters and everything, but the only thing that i didn't get was tournament level advanced.The game has great sounds,graphics,chracters and game modes.Cool Hint: Play practice or tournament and vs. mode and pick Trunks and instead press square on the character and the custon or normal and whaen you play the game turn super saiyan and Trunks hair will be tight.THIS GAME IS COOL!!

I have owned the game since it came out in North America and i personally think that it is in my top 10 for best game I have ever played. It is true it had major flaws like leaving out Trunks and Goku being so powerful. The part about not flying whenever you want to was a step in the right direction though. In the older games a guy could just puss out into the air to dodge an attack. I think when Goku is in SSJ he loses way to much energy and can not stay in SSJ very long. Thats funny because I was under the influence that in the "cell saga" he had trained to be able to stay in SSJ as long as he likes. And for those of you who craved the "Buu saga", it will be coming out in the sequel to Budokai. I had a problem with the ability to earn SSJ4 Goku in that game. The code or whatever was on so many sights including "IGN.com" that i figured it had to be real. You are suppost to beat Hard difficulty on the World Tourny with every character. I have done this 3 times over with no results...
Overall this game is amazing but I hope for a lot of inprovements for the next game...

I have Budokai but I've beaten it already. They really should have gone all the way up to the Buu saga so fans can see super saiyan 3 Goku and the biggest part of Buu saga, Vegeto!!! Cell made the game to short and he didn't have spots on his arms, only on the back, but it's they other way around! I liked them game but to tell you the truth, I loved Ultimate Battle 22! That, in my opinion was Better Than Budokai!

DragonballZ Budokai is the best it is the no.1 fighting game this year and for the year onwards for me because the Story mode brings a tasty introduction to DBZ fans like me. One of it's major downsides are the lack of players including: Chiatsu, Android*20, Yajarobe,Kami (etc) And where the hell are the rest of the Ginyu force! I fell in love at first sight as i gazed at the game right before my eyes. BEAUTIFUL graphics and fast gameplay keep me in on all days I HAVE STILL been trying to complete it since christmas trying to complete it, I love, so do my friends, get this brilliant game, it's a must MUST get.
