dbz budokai2 is tight!!!!!!!! | | adrian buislay from norwalk CA,U.S.A says (1/Jan/2004): | this is one of the best games out there.da grafix are tight and the voices make it like your watching da show.budokai2 is tighter,the many charecters,da grafix,etc.that sux gohan can only go SS2.da characters are cool but they should have put cooler,broly,android#19,and kid gohan.its dumb dat after so many years goku,vegeta,don't get old.it would have been better to have a super secret charecter like gokus dad or king kai.the gameplay is cool,but should stretch a little farther then da buu saga.whats cool about both budokai games is dat there unique no other fighting game has this much originality.one of the things that was cooler budokai1 was the skill shop,you chose a support capsule,you got a support capsule.in budokai2 1,500 for great saiyaman justice punch.and da TOURNAMENTS SHOULDNT be a knock out of da ring automatic win.when you turn super saiyan or another transformation,your ki gauge should go up another level.another thing dat woulda been better was if they had that krillen cell like in krillens dream in dragonball z budokai1.if you could be majin buu,super buu,kid buu,saibamen,or junior cell and be like in budokai1 where you just beat someone and you unlock em that would be really TIGHT!!!!

I love the music,it goes along with the awesome intensity of the battling.The graphics seem almost like 3-dimensional cartoon+computer animation. The gameplay is a mix of realism and fantasy. The lifespan is just about perfect where you can just get to the point of killing people. I have to say it is a very fun game because there is a lot of variety of what the CPU will do. It was original and unlike any other fighting game. I can't wait to play the sequel, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2. I imagine it will be even better than the first. I recommend this game very much to people of all ages, young and old. It is highly addicting. I just spent the last 10 hours playing it without even getting up to go to the bathroom. Whew, my bladder really hates me right now...and my dad too, since he wanted to play earlier today. heh heh. I look forward to playing more Atari games. The group that designed this game is on to something. Now I am rambling because it has to be more than 200 words yet I have nothing else to say........................

| Boring!!!!!!!! | | Sergio_13 from Canada says (28/Dec/2003): | k dragonball budokai 2 was good 2 an extent but there are many flaws with it, thats why im giving it a 1, my first complaint is that there is no difference in attack and defense, for example Goku who is one of the strongest fighters has 100 fight and 100 defensive, yamcha who is not even a saiyan nor could even beat a member of the ginyu force has 100 attack and 100 defensive!!??? how the hell are they equally strong, Goku killed majin buu for god sake Yamcha's power lvl at that time was still not enough 2 even kill frieza i mean come on lets give the gamers some credit, another problem was when the saiyens turn into Super saiya jins, it takes an amazing amount of ki to turn into ssj3 in the shows but in the game goku does it in a snap with a lil flash, in the shows he goes explosive and uses up alot of ki and it takes more then 1 second 2 do.... uhm what else hmmm... i did not like how Frieza and Cell always came back in all the different lvls in the dragon ball world, i mean how many $#< remove me > at !ing times do i have 2 kill them??? its ridiculous.... another was that everybody basically has the same moves... which is not true in the storys, when did Krillen learn Kamehameha??? unno but its there and he learns kamehameha way b4 he even learns destreco disc which is suppose 2 be his main move.... so it gets boring really fast... but otherwise i do like the graphics how they are more cartoon drawn it makes u feel like u more in the game and right there on the Battlefield, maybe im being harsh by only giving a one, but this game dosnt deserve much better...
| This game is da BOMB! | | Paul from Denver,CO,USA says (27/Dec/2003): | Dragonball z budokai is one of the best playing games there are,they have tight graphics and nice sound. The reason I like this game so much is because there are several characters and there are many moves. Some of the best characters I think are Cell and Frieza, try to upgrade there armor and moves by buying capsules. The best capsules for them are Frieza 100% form and cells perfect form (power weighted). Those capsules are very helpfull when fighting in the tournament, expecially advanced. Frieza and Cells best moves are spirit bomb for cell and death ball for frieza. You can get most of the characters in the campaign except for 2, Hercule and GT. Saiyaman. you get those to at the adept tournament and the advanced tournament. Custom is very helpfull when fighting tough enemys, a great defence for the androids is the android barrier, it shields you from all ki blasts and it never wears off. The only thing they could have improved is that there campaign was very short.Another thing gt. saiyaman really sucks. he has all crappy moves and doesnt have any ki waves. last but not least I cant wait to check dbz budokai 2 out.

The best part about Dragonball Z Budokai is that there are so many characters. The best characters I think are Frieza and Cell, the reason I think these characters are the best is because they have mant different transformations and moves. The best move for frieza is death ball or so i think, the best move for Cell is Spirit bomb. After you get a lot of money from tournaments you should buy lots of capsules. look for frieza 100% final form and cells perfect form (power weighted) those two transformations are really helpfull in the touraments.
One thing they probably could improve is that the campaign is really short. Capsules are very helpfull when your facing tough opponents in the tournaments expecially advanced. If you want to win easily and get all the characters look for defensive capsules, a very helpfull android defence is android barrier, it shields you from any attack from a ki blast wave. Use defensive manovers when facing the tournamants dodge and then strike is the best strategy, o and dont forget to watch out when they throw you across the field, dont get knocked out or you automatically lose, which that really sucks when your so close to winning, it can get you reallt frustrated. Also vegetas big bang attack and final flash are great killers. they take out most of the opponents life.All in all dragonball z budokai is one of the bestgames there are

The graphics are very bloody. The sound goes very good with the game. The gameplay has alot of obsticals and is very entertaining. The lifespan of the character would be better if they had more ki-wave energies. I really enjoy the game. It is a one-of-a-kind game. The game has more value to me than my own T.V. I think this game has awesome death moves and senzubeans. I think the rating of this game should actually be rated everyone, because it just seems to not be very violent, and everone should already know that video games do not reflect real life. I enjoy this game because, I enjoy hours of fun. I can't wait until they come out with budakai 3. I know it will be better than the rest. Also, The game has really great characters. The reason why I kind-of don't like this game is because that you cant get monjinbuu or fatbuu, the game is hard for a nine year old to get through the game on very hard mode. My favorite characters are trunks, piccolo, goku, gohan, teengohan, cell, and freiza.

Let me give you some cheats if your having trouble. This is a great cheat, if you can beat the advance mode with all the caracters you can get Super sayin 3 for Goku. I havn't tried it yet but I heard you can do it. Alwas customize your character. This is also a great cheat, o.k. if you have 2 memory cards make a file on the new one, beat the game and then customize the characters that you want then go to pratice or duel, then when you the see the screen you pick your character, you put tthe other memory card in and then pick your character and then were it says normal on the ritht side you now pick normal or custom. When you lauch the Ki blast wave, they should have craters in the ground and your clothes should be ripped and your guy has cuts and so forth and so on. Yea it's easy to be and to unlock all characters but it;s one of those games you dont get bored of right away. Plus there are alot of moves you can buy or earn. I still havent figured out what the dragon balls to yet b/c i still need one but i will. Goku in his SSJ4 form is the coolest character in the game. Next is defenently Trunks2. This game really captures some oof the oves from the show and are accurate. Say Android 16's hell flash. I just watched that episode the other day. Or Goku's Warp Kamehameha. I would have to say m favorite moves would be SS2 Gohans Super Kamehameha move and Super Vegeta's Big Bang Attack. Oolong is kind of retarted and i dont think he is worth the effort to get but hey it's your choice. Umm spend alot of time buying capsules. There are plunty of hidden goodies. ALMOST ALWAYS CHOOSE TO GAMBLE. Recommended has alot of the same stuff you already have...once in a while there will be something new but dont count on it too often. In gamble you may buy alot of the stuff you already have also but there is a high chance you will get a Yellow Outlined Card(Really Rare). Plus this is where you will get most of your dragon balls. LoL You could do what i did and beat the Advanced World Tournament with every character before spending any of it.

This is a flawless game except for one thing..... they didn't have Fat Buu in it. I really wanted to be him when I got this and was disappointed when I was unable to play as him.
I have beat this game all around, unlocked all the characters and moves (Except for that stupid last Dragon Ball.......Can't find it....grrrr). And yet, I still play this game. Another great thing is how many playable characters there are.
I am very impressed with the moves as well, I found them simple once I memorized them. One of my favorite things is Freiza's Space Ship (When you die as Freiza, and have that capsul equipped, the spaceship comes down and turns Freiza into metal Freiza, giving you a total of 6 energy bars!), which I found especially useful when in the Advanced Tournament.
Another feature is that there is a story mode, which enables you to unlock characters and basically play out the Dragon Ball Z sagas. Another, yes, another cool feature is once you unlock the Minigame (Hercules Quest.. or whatever the name is...), you go through Hercules lying life..... which is pretty funny to see what he thinks, especially against the Child Cells (The small blue version of Cell). And that reminds me! When I got Hercule and saw his grapple move, I burst out lauughing! That is so hilarious how he falls on them! And his finishing move, what a killer!
I can't get over the look on Super-Saiyan Teen Gohan's face when he receives the bomb! Priceless! One last note, the music is acurate, not to mention the great opening sequence at the beggining of the game. I could write a longer reveiw, but that would be wasting you're time! ^_^'
| Misleading Poster!!!!!!! | | Blue eyes from Skokie,USA says (12/Dec/2003): | This game has a misleading poster failed with false information about the charecters like itv reads:" #19 beated up Goku, tien,Yamacha,Gohan, and Goham, But vegeta turned Super saiyian and destreyed him." and for Frezza it siad that frezza dstroyed the sayian planet to get rid of compinititon. Frist of, #19 beated only Goku and Yamcha ONLY. Frezza got rid off the planent because he fered that a Super sayian would raise and kill Freiaza.
Now that I ranted about the poster on to the game. In Tournment Mode, when you get to the adept and other higher levels You can eaisly get thrown out of the ring, without even pressing a button or striking back. Which afected it's chances of getting a nine. In stroy mode,when you start out you only have two moves, but when you advanced to the Namek and Cell sagas, you gianed more attacks. The bad thing about stoy mode is that for only most of the fights, Your only using Picollo, vegeta,Goku, or Gohan. Also you shuld be alble to use any chareecters that was at the batle site. For example when fighting fdreaza you should also chose picolo, Gohan or Krillion instead of just with goku. also most of the combos are hard to do.

It stays da same,even in perfect form.Except when he uses Spirit Bomb.The story mode is crazy. They skip a couple of parts though.I really hate not flying on my own. U have 2 get hit in the air 2 get up there.I think beating the tournament mode in advanced is the hardest thing 2 do in the game.The super saiyans are good but they all have the same power limits.SS2 is great plus the Super Kamehameha.The bad thing is that u can only trnsform SS2 with gohan.All the special attacks are great. But the strongest is Goku's Spirit Bomb.In story u will have a little bit of trouble defeating cell with gohan after fighting cell with Goku.I love playing as Trunks.Transforming into Super Trunks2 is crazy. The bad thing is no one else can turn super except 4 Vegeta.Doing the movea are simple.When I first started out I couldn't do anything at all. They should have more characters like MajinBuu.They should also have the MajinBuu saga.This is enough for me,if u need help with the game email me.~1~

| it was pretty tight but needs improvements. | | Greg says (2/Dec/2003): | Dragon Ball Z Budokai is a very fun game. it has some really good vices and some vertues.The good thing about the game is its kindof addictive and it keeps u playing, but once u beat stroy mode its fun declines a bit.Some things it needs to change are the flying, i mean u need manual flying to increse its excitement. another thing, the level up transform thing is a little bit messed up. i mean, ss Vegeta is NOWHERE near the level SS Goku. the levels should be individualy set, not like hercule's first transfirmation is High Tension(level 1 transformation) and SS Trunks (level 1 transformation) is equal power......thats messed up..CAUTION if your going to get this game and read this interview I STRONGLY SUGGEST U SET THE DIFFICULTY HIGHER BECAUSE I DIDNT AND I BEAT IT IN LIKE 2 DAYS(only because i rented it late and had to go to bed) IT IS WAY TO EASY ON NORMOL AND IF UR A HEAVY GAMER ITS TO EASY!well, overallits a fun game even if ur not a DBZ fan, but if u are a fan, this game is a must have for its the BEST DBZ game ever made(except for Legendary Super Warriors for GBC which kicks way more ass then the GBA legacy of goku and trading card game).

It lets you see both sides of the story and watch clips from the episodes. The sounds and graphics make it seam like your really watchin thshow. Being able to fight your enemy and use actual attacks you see on the show is another thing that makes this game so great. I was so into this game I beat it in about a day. Not the whole game...but the basic story,(I had to return it to my friend). The only down side to this game is that you don't get to fly around on your own or look for any of the dragon balls. But over all this game was awsome and I think that it was the best!!! ^_^

However, there are some things I would like to see in the game. Things like being able to fly on your own. I mean the characters being able to fly is one of the coolest parts of the fighs. Also I think that when you get hammered by one of those level-destroying moves like burning attack and Big Bang attack, your character's clothes should really get all cool and ripped with blood and bruises everywhere like the chapter where Goku is fighting Frieza. That would be great. But even with those little exceptions, you can't say this game is bad. It's da best fighting game ever and I hate anybody who doesn't think so!!!
