DBZ Budokai is the best!! | | Heath from Canton,Ohio,USA says (21/Apr/2003): | DBZ Budokai is awesome. The only downy is whre in the hell is the Kid Buu saga and they should have alot more characters.I am a big DBZ fan. This is why I give this game a TEN!!! But out of all those mistakes this is the best game in the world.

'03 from virginia, usa says (15/Jun/2003): | well...to all dbz gamers past and present, i would like to say that dbz budokai is a great game...but in turn it has some points that i became frustrated with...i was impressed with the fact that a move could be made three times strong, and the fact that you could link combos and special moves together...i mean the fact that you could link krillin's grab move and then add the beserk fist equalling 53 hits was off tha chain!!! but truly for every dbz fan like myself it has some disappointing things about it..like the fact that the villains didn't really the "potential" that we as dbz fans know they have. i hope that in the future the creators of the game add more moves, combos, and finishers...i mean if it's all that they can hook up with the creators of ultimate battle and do some things..but despite the limited choice selection of the moves the game is something i think that has a lot of hype behind it but then once the dragonballs and the breakthrough capsules are collected...you kinda become bored with it...but still...i loved it but then again certain things made me hate it...

| Probably the best DBZ game out there!!! | | Jace Burns from Ilinois, USA says (1/Jul/2003): | Ok when i first heard about this game i knew i had 2 get it cuz i love DBZ. the story line is really cool. it takes u from when u fight Vegeta 2 the Cell games. some of the characters u get r Goku,Vegeta,Krillin,Frieza,Trunks,Hercule,Gohan etc. the music is really cool although u dont really pay attention when u r playing this AWSOME game!!! i think they should of had more characters though(thats why i gave it a 9) in my opinion they should of had guys like Brolly,Bardock,Janemba,and Gogeta. but overall its a really really awsome game!!! plus they have Great Sayaiman!
| Awesome game. | | Dante: The Tormentor from Middle of No Where says (8/Aug/2003): | If you're looking for a great fighter, you might be a little disappointed. However, if you're a DBZ fan, or if you could care less about all that pollished graphic jargon like me, then you'll like it. This game has three basic modes. Story mode (which combines the first three saggas of the DBZ series into one game), duel (a simple one on one), and World Tournament. I find World tournament to be the hardest features, because it's pretty much the only combat where getting knocked out of the ring counts as a loss. And I ALWAYS GET KNOCKED OUT! I can make it to the finals, and that's the best I've done.
The best thing is that the voice actors from the TV show are in this game as well. Plus, the characters are in full 3D, so that's always a bonus. Story mode is fairly short, but it's challenging. Most of it is just fighting, but the rest is a couple of mini-games or fights with objectives, such as the Cell Jr. gauntlet. The only bad thing is that some attacks are almost impossible to attack.
The attack thing pretty much makes quite a chunk of the game to me, and only being able to SUCCESSFULLY perform the kamayamaya and a couple others where everything else is impossible made my rating drop to a seven out of ten. Other than this, and a couple other issues, that's all I found wrong with it. This game is pretty good, and a possible collector's item for DBZ fans.
| Dragonball Z: Budokai | | SSJVegeta from None --- None says (11/Oct/2003): | This is best Dragonball Z game I have ever played. 23 Characters, are all way cool but it can be more better to playing with friends. Using 2 memory csrd, With custom characters, it would be a great battle. I have all skills but not the all breakthrough skill, I am never gonna use that memory card cheat, cause getting all skills would get more easier and that will shorten the age of this game. Graphics are very great, sound is very good cause it has the original Japanese voices. Sound effects are cool and some moves have great humor, like Mr.Satans (Hercule`s) Present For You, and dont forget move named Satan Special. Tien has good VolleyBall Fist, what is powerful tough. Well, overall on this game is 10. If you are a DBZ Fan, you should buy this and have fun.

| cool!!!!!!!!!!! | | A gamer from london,england says (13/Mar/2004): | dragonball z budokai 2 is so cool, it is so cool because you can use fusions like vegitto, gotenks, kibitoshin and two made up ones, gokule and tiencha and you can have the skill of a super sayian 3, also cell and frieza have only their final forms which make them very powerful, you can power up moves by being in a transformed state or if you turn round the analog sticks to fill up the power meter.You can unlock the buu`s and use super buus absorption skill to power up, you can absorb tien and yamcha,gohan (adult),super sayian 3 gotenks,vegeta,cell and frieza, plus you get 2 of their best moves.Dragonball z budokai 2 is the best play station 2 game out of 100% i would give it 95%.In dragon world you go through 9 exciting levels, you can select 1 or 2 allies of your choice from the choices, if what i have said is not impressive enough you can enter the world martial arts tournment and you can be anyone of your choice!, there are 3 levels of the tournment novice,adept and advanced,novice is easy, adept is medium and advanced is hard, novice has 3 rounds, adept has 4 and advanced has 5.

I went on the Internet and found a secret sight that shows different previews of it. I found out you could play as Bardock. Finally!!!!!!!!! The thing I like about it is the story has more details and you also get to fly as the person that you use to battle with. You could also play with Broly. On the Screen shots Broly is very huge compared to goku. The coolest thing I like about is you could fly whenever you want to. You can't do any of those things in Budokai 1 or 2. At first when budokai 2 came out I thought it was going to be the greatest hit. When I played it I was like what the hell.I like budokai one better because it has the story even though it skips certain details. The most thing I would like that some body would put in a Budokai is that you could knock your opponent into space or fly your self to planet Vegeta or Planet Frieza. What I would also like is for them to change the continuous kamehameha. They should make the graphics so good that when you do the attack it looks like the one Vegeta did on Planet Namek.

Beating other people with out of this world powers and energies that can destroy a planet is just the greatest thing. And wat's with all the people that say that this game really easy? The game is actually hard. If you think that this game is easy, try playing the very last chapter where SS2 Gohan has to beat Cell. After beating that without losing at lest 2 times then you can sat that this game is easy. Also I hate the people that say that this game's moves are messed up. The graphics and the effects of the moves are great.
However, there are some things I would like to see in the game. Things like being able to fly on your own. I mean the characters being able to fly is one of the coolest parts of the fighs. Also I think that when you get hammered by one of those level-destroying moves like burning attack and Big Bang attack, your character's clothes should really get all cool and ripped with blood and bruises everywhere like the chapter where Goku is fighting Frieza. That would be great. But even with those little exceptions, you can't say this game is bad. It's da best fighting game ever and I hate anybody who doesn't think so!!!
| dbz budokai rules | | josh from scottsdale,AZ,USA says (19/Dec/2003): | i think dbz budokai is the most awesome game ever.but there are a feww things that should be fixed.like you should be able to controll your flight abilities. and why is the kamehameha yellow it should be blue it doesnt make sense.also why cant you be buu or anyone like that its whack.but its pretty cool; how good the graphics are plus all the capsules you can get. there moves are probably the best part . my favorites are big bang attack,warp kamehameha, and burning attack.my faorite characters are trunks2, super vageta, ss2 gohan , and frieza.now budokai2 is a whole differant story.its just plain tight.irented it and i dont like how its a board game.but fighting buu and everything is aweaome.i didnt beat kid buu before i rented it though. gotenks is awesome especially his Super Goast Kamakazi Attack.also vegeto is tight and all his moves are awesome.super vegeto is even cooler.i like how you can choose a partner or sometimes two.i heard theyre making a dbgt budokai also.well heree i am just blabbing away your probably getting bored and im probably wasting you time so i gotta go, seeya

Yea it's easy to be and to unlock all characters but it;s one of those games you dont get bored of right away. Plus there are alot of moves you can buy or earn. I still havent figured out what the dragon balls to yet b/c i still need one but i will. Goku in his SSJ4 form is the coolest character in the game. Next is defenently Trunks2. This game really captures some oof the oves from the show and are accurate. Say Android 16's hell flash. I just watched that episode the other day. Or Goku's Warp Kamehameha. I would have to say m favorite moves would be SS2 Gohans Super Kamehameha move and Super Vegeta's Big Bang Attack. Oolong is kind of retarted and i dont think he is worth the effort to get but hey it's your choice. Umm spend alot of time buying capsules. There are plunty of hidden goodies. ALMOST ALWAYS CHOOSE TO GAMBLE. Recommended has alot of the same stuff you already have...once in a while there will be something new but dont count on it too often. In gamble you may buy alot of the stuff you already have also but there is a high chance you will get a Yellow Outlined Card(Really Rare). Plus this is where you will get most of your dragon balls. LoL You could do what i did and beat the Advanced World Tournament with every character before spending any of it.

The transformation is to quick.When you transform they should show the rocks lifting of the ground and slowly turn to ss2.Vegeta is a fantastic player. DBZ cannot remove the 3d background which is fantastic.Some of the background was rubbish expecially the world class tournament. Buu and baby trunks and goten should be on budokai 1. Story mode is too short.You can't buy any uniforms in custom and you can't use trunks sword as a move.Dodoria is rubbish.The titles and dislay of writing is terrible.
tHE KAMEHAMEA IS NOT AFFECTED TO ANY PLAYER. YOU CAN FLY AT FREE WILL. bY THE WAY HOW DO YOU GET GOKU ON SS4. I've heard this cheat many times. Someone contact me and tell me.
The android saga is boring. Goku is so boring without ss2.
The duel battle should be much more exciting . When some beats you down and your on yellow life bar they should show your clothes ripped and dirt on your body. The players always are in good condition.I love freizas spaceship. It is wonderful she is the strongest player. Goku should have 3 selections like gohan. whwn he was small and ss3.
You can't fly at free will.i LOVE GOHAN SS2 HE'S MOVE SUPER KAMEHAMEHA.

The best part about Dragonball Z Budokai is that there are so many characters. The best characters I think are Frieza and Cell, the reason I think these characters are the best is because they have mant different transformations and moves. The best move for frieza is death ball or so i think, the best move for Cell is Spirit bomb. After you get a lot of money from tournaments you should buy lots of capsules. look for frieza 100% final form and cells perfect form (power weighted) those two transformations are really helpfull in the touraments.
One thing they probably could improve is that the campaign is really short. Capsules are very helpfull when your facing tough opponents in the tournaments expecially advanced. If you want to win easily and get all the characters look for defensive capsules, a very helpfull android defence is android barrier, it shields you from any attack from a ki blast wave. Use defensive manovers when facing the tournamants dodge and then strike is the best strategy, o and dont forget to watch out when they throw you across the field, dont get knocked out or you automatically lose, which that really sucks when your so close to winning, it can get you reallt frustrated. Also vegetas big bang attack and final flash are great killers. they take out most of the opponents life.All in all dragonball z budokai is one of the bestgames there are
| its good, but it aint doa3 | | A gamer from moscow, russia says (29/Apr/2003): | yeah the game rules, it has some of the best known characters in the universe, they had some patches that would make the game better if the were filled, like why did they have just capt. ginyu and recoome and not the whole ginyu force, and being #20 would be just swell, and i really wanted to be chaiotzu, but the graphics fit the style of the game well (so everyone who says the graphics sucked, can shut up and go visit goz and mez in the hfil). another problem was that there werent too terribly many combos, but there were enough for me to like it. story mode is pretty cool, and it didn't need that huge pink blob that is buu, because now infogrames can put out another budokai thats even better and have ALL the characters in it. despite its flaws, dbz budokai is godd enough to get a super sayain 8 out of 10
| Best DBZ Game Ever | | Craig from England, UK says (16/Jul/2003): | Dragonball Z Budokai is probably the best DBZ game there is. It has kept really loyal to the T.V show and unlike some games based on shows or films, it hasn't been just a little like the film/show, it has almost everything in it. The reason that this game kicks arse, is the fighting part itself. The moves are easy to grasp and once you have grasped them with one character, the others have the same moves, so you dont just get good with a certain person, like on most games, but you can now play with everyone. The gameplay is also really simple, and unless you a comlpete morron and have never heard of DBZ you'll easily understand how to play. What else I liked is that there aren't any real cheats so you have to play it and get good at it instead of just winning in one move or something. Some bad things about this though, bring the game down quite a bit. The worst of all for me is the voice. Most people like it and if you've seen the Japanese versions or something you'll be glad to hear that they've kept the Japanese voices, but if you're like me and have only seen DBZ, you'll be a bit dissapointed because the voices are all high-pitched and sound incredably stupid, for example completing the game the first time, you have the cut scene, where Gohan and Cell each do a kamehaemeha on eachother and Goku talks through King Kai. This was one of my favourtie episodes on DBZ, but on the game I couldn't take it seriously because Goku's voice was childlike. Another thing with the way they speak is the subtitles. They are hardly ever proper Engilsh and don't normally say what they say on the T.V show. The only other bad thing about the game is that it's too short. They should have definately included Majin Buu. He is obviously the best character ever, he is soo babyish and fat, yet everyone is scared of him. Also it would make the character list a lot longer because there are 8 different versions of him and if you have the buu saga, you get Gotenks and Vigito (my other favourite character). Two good things about it apart from how super fun it is and the easy to grasp moves, are the graphics, that are awesome and realistic and the sound that unlike some games, matches the emotions of the characters. Also although the story line is short, there is so much to do because if you're a perfectionist like me and ant every capsual for everybody, that involves getting the dragonnballs 23 times. After playing as mmuch as I have, I have decided that the good points totally outway the bad and the gameplay, moves, laoalty to the stryline and so much more make this game the best in the DBZ series.

In the practice mode it should have been able to have two players. Last the dragonballs should be easer to get. Overall I think it was a really good game. I cant wait till the second one comes out.
| A good looking game | | eddy from Washinton vancover U.S says (1/Sep/2003): | A very good game though some bad parts like in the game they forgot about the garlic junior saga then every word and event is wrong like goku when he turned into a super saiyan in the frieza saga he had a shirt on in the game he did'nt also the game sould have alot more characters an when you get hurt by a blast lose some colthes and when you are on a red bar you should be breathing hard and i hate it when you do a super attack like the spirt bomb it blowes up every thing why can't it be a crater also they fogot about the buu saga and why can't goku go into a super saiyan 2 and 3 that sould be a supprise capsule but over all it's a really good game buy it it's fun also i got news that dbz budokai 2 has chbi trunks,goten,all three buus,teenager Gohon,gotenks,vagito majin vagita and all 23 characters also in the memory card you can input dbz budokai in dbz budokai 2 memory and on dbz budokai you get new moves if you input but can't save on dbz budokai.This game rocks.
| this game rulez dudes! | | shadow from antwerpen,belgium says (20/Sep/2003): | anyone who says that this game sucks, doesn't know anything about gaming! the gameplay, the story mode all of it is so well made! personally my favourit is teen gohan whit his super kamehameha, all my friends who sees the game wants it very bad! vegeta and trunks ar also cool! about the tournament, you just have to dodge away from the edge if you are to close! i have one question only, there is only one capsule left for me to find, but i can't find it anywhere! it supposed to be the history mode but i don't no exactly! like i still have over 200 000 zenies and there is nothing more to unlock except for that one capsule i can't find, it's a grey one! to bad that budokai 2 will have a more drawn character graphic like, the background is normal! only the characters are more drawn like! for the rest looks budokai2 even better then the one! i'm counting the days untill it comes out! budokai RULES!!!!!
