USA says (29/Oct/2003): | Overall this game was pretty tight,the graphics were off the hook, the sound was great,and the fun factor was excellent and so was the story line; and best of all the characters real voices are on the game,but this game could use some major improvements. For one this game didn't have long enough gameplay because it ended too quickly.The moves were good, but they were all the same like goku's dragon fist,and the ranma with piccolo,all the ki attacks were also the same,the only difference was that it was done with a different character with a different name, like the raining ki blast with one of the other characters and the parmesan shower with Captain Ginyu and so were many other attacks.When someone does an attacks they should not only have a ki guage but they should also have something like an attack guage so they can build up the level of an attack; like instead of a regular kamahemaha they can build it up to five levels on the gauge making it stronger. Another thing on the game they need to work on is age of the game .The game seems like its for ages 10 and under, there is no blood shed when fighting for a long period of time, and the insults they say while fighting are not like anything the characters would say on T.V, and basically the fighting is just not fierce enough going along with the need for better sound effects in battle..Another thing they should take into consideration is when a character powers up to a new level it should be the way it is on the cartoon series; For instance if you're super saiyan or you should have a golden glow around you and if you're super saiyan 2 you have a golden glow with sparks of electricity around you and if you're Kamicolo you should have a white glow around you.When powering up they should have special effects like ground breaking,earth rumbling, fierce winds,lighting strikes,ect..ect..Flying on the game is also a problem, you shouldn't have to knock a character in the air to allow yourself to fly you should be able to do it manually, and while doing this, just to keep people from cheating, if you are flying, your ki gauge slowly decreases, because that's the way it is on the cartoon.Having a 7 max guage for a super saiyan or any other advanced leveled character is pointless,when a character reaches a new level their guage should increase because the higher level you go your guage decreases faster making it harder for you to complete a move necessary for that level.Goku has so many levels it's so hard for him to complete the spirit bomb with his guage draining like that, especially how easy it is to get knock down.Something else about the game isn't realistic either do you actually think a normal level person in the game could stand up to super saiyan vegeta up VS. regular krillin. I've almost begun to think the rising levels are only to complete the super moves and not to increase the players strengths.Each character should be unique in fighting and not the same monotonous combos each character posesses.The look of the super moves should also be redone.the galik gun,kamahemaha,or death beam shouldn't be a ball of light, but rather a continuous beam of visible of light coming towards you. They're also many special features which should have been on Budokai 1 or DBZ Budokai 2. Saiyans should have the opportunity to turn into an Oozaurus and fuse with anyone just call it a crazy idea.

You'll be finished it in one night, will have mastered all the moves, and unlocked everything there is within 2 days, a week for the not so serious gamer at the most. This game has excellent potential, although I found the combos to be somewhat lackin in any sort of need for skill, and the difficulty level of the game was about as bad as I think i've seen in any game, rather than make the game harder, as the same boring old combos that you land the same way at the same speed with no so called "skill" being involved. Excellent viewing, but not worth buying outright, treat it like it is, an interactive movie.
| My review is about DBZ Budokai 2 I think it is going to be really fun. | | stephen from akron Ohio says (25/Oct/2003): | I think on B 2 they should have Vegito ss4 goku and gogeta kid trunks etc. They should have the whole ginyu force this time. Cloth's should rip, and when you are powering up/transforming, stuff shold break, rocks would go in the air, and the enemy would get pushed back. You should be able to fly all by your self. And the power aura should stay around you when you power up, and when you fly for cover. something like that. You should be able to push things, and use them as cover. And when you are powering up if the character is really strong, Blast will not hurt you, because of the powetr aura. And another thing, when an enemy is firing multiple shots at you, it should have an advance dodging system, where you can dodge stuff like on tv. when you are running, and the enemy isshooting at you, you should be able to either dodge, or hit the energy blast away from you, or send it right back at the enemy. And when you are doing a spexial attack like the galick gun, and somebody else does an attack, it should be like on tv and you have to press something repeatly/really fast, and that person would win the power struggle, because that person pushed ..... button the fastest with the time limit.

But to tell ya the truth it was way to short. and there is not nearly enuff characters. I was hoping buu would be in there. oh and gohan ssj2 is for some reason one of the weakest characters. Whats that about!?!? The second one will be alot better I hope. They need to add more characters. Overall I gave the game a 9. Besides the fact that I dont like how they made the characters and how there isnt as many as I expected. But overall the game is good. Hope I can say more for the second one.

Dbz Budokai is great but they can't charge up and use big bang attack,spirit bomb,burning attack. And it's way way way way way way to easy I tried it and finished story mode legend of hercule in 3 hours and by the way I think Hercule is such an idiot.Now i'll tell every one that get legend of hercule by winning world tornament in expert level. Get expert level at MR popo's skill shop note it's capsule is grey note get adept level at Mr.popo's shop too.One more thing I hope they make a game that starts when Bardock was lilled to the buu saga. from dbz lover.
| Kool but starts to get annoying | | Super_Raddits4 from victoria melbourne AUS says (17/Oct/2003): | everyone is saying that this game is good, i agree but it is only fun to a certain extent for it starts to get annoying, for all the people who have played it i know you know what i'm talking about.There needs to be individual moves and combos to unleash, pretty much everyone has the same moves and combos com on whats up with that.I also think that the power ups are kinda pathetic and the transformations, like when turning into super saiya-jin they just go AHH and they've transformed. Com on turnng super saiya-jin mode is meant to be kool not a 2 second flash and then thats it. Budokai was to easy for everything is the same it doesnt matter who you go they are all the same, no diffence at all in strength levels or nuttin. Like krillin is as strong as super saiya-jin Gohan-kun 2 see annoying isn't it.
| this is the worst in the world | | charlie from kent england says (16/Oct/2003): | the graphics on this game are good but there are not enough good players there are no new ones or from GT. i hope to play budika 2 because it sounds alot better with alot more players. i gave the game 1 point because i have enjoyed playing other games on ps2 and ps1 that were also fighting games alot more. i think that this game was quite good value for money compared to other chart games. the game was not realistic enough because in the game the fighters were able to fly around blasting beams. the game was too easy to complete it only took five days to complete.

But there is one thing i do not particulary like and that is the english subtitles for it. Like com on in one bit of the game Vegeta says "you meanies",Com'on aunt sallys".i'm pretty sure that vegeta would not say that!But anyhow the game has awesome graphics and fun game play.DBZ2 should be explosive with even better graphics and more charactors.Hopefully buu saga and gt charactors are added.

Using 2 memory csrd, With custom characters, it would be a great battle. I have all skills but not the all breakthrough skill, I am never gonna use that memory card cheat, cause getting all skills would get more easier and that will shorten the age of this game. Graphics are very great, sound is very good cause it has the original Japanese voices. Sound effects are cool and some moves have great humor, like Mr.Satans (Hercule`s) Present For You, and dont forget move named Satan Special. Tien has good VolleyBall Fist, what is powerful tough. Well, overall on this game is 10. If you are a DBZ Fan, you should buy this and have fun.
| This game was sweet, but it could've been better. | | steven and cheater, tim from Hohenfels,germany says (11/Oct/2003): | this game was pretty cool because you had a wide selection of characters and there is a lot to do. the story mode is pretty easy so i'm looking forward to the second one because there is no story mode in that one. this game takes you all the way to the cell saga, if you're looking for a good action game you might like this one but you might not. it has cool stuff like a tournament. i don't like how hard it is to get the dragonballs and i don't like the graphics which is another reason i look forward to the second one that's coming out in December of 2003. here's a little cheat to get all breakthroughs, this is how it goes, you get three memory cards, one with all the dragonballs, copy it to another memory card, and whatever memory card you choose to get all breakthroughs on, use the dragon, now for the third memory card trade the dragonballs that you did not use, then copy to the memory card that you are using. repeating this over and over again, in about thirty minutes, u should have all breakthroughs but u don't want to be a little cheater so do it the real way unlike my friend tim over here. it was his idea to write that. cheater. oh well, this game is awesome and we liked it. ps. i am not gay.

On our case it showed spopovitch debora and even buu but there was none of them in the game.Out here(in Australia) they haven't even shown GT yet.i Hope in dbz budokai 2 they put buu in(and maybe even GT) also i would have liked to make your own characters like make goku's third cousin 3 tims removed or something. and instead of just going from the sotry line add a bit more. ALso Goku's super saiyan takes 5 gauges to transform when goharns ssj2 only takes 4 or something also they left out tons of characters such as jeice berter guildo #20 chou sou. They didn't even take into account the movies. I really hope dbz bodokai 2 will be much better. oh and i plan on buying it.

One of the differences was when Frieza was on the ground, he wasn't cut in half. I gave this game a 10 because I'm a major DBZ fan. The graphics were pretty good if you ask me. I only wish they would have went farther in the game, to atleast the end of majin buu, or when Goku flies off with Uub. I guess the next one will have that though, I liked the voices and sounds, they were very much like the series. I wish they wouldn't have made a teen rated game though, i wish they could be more like japan and not cut anything out. I think they should make a game for all the movies, such as Broli, and Cooler. This games fighting style was pretty good, I kinda wish it had a little more blood and gore, I'm a big fan of that too(ain't that right Vice City fans). I also thought some of this game was funny, like when Cell fused with Krillin, man that was funny heh heh, too bad i never got to see the wedding of Krillin and Android 18. One thing that would have been nice is if Trunks could use that sword of his, I mean if your gonna carry that thing around, you might as well use it. The World Tournament was pretty fun, I don't like how they can kick you outside the ring so, I like to fight to submission myself. The Breakthrough Capsules made it fun, I've got 2 more characters to earn that for, I wonder what happens if you get the Dragon Balls again after you've earned evrybody's breakthrough. I don't like spending hours trying to buy the things though, this almost made me make this game a 9 but I decided not too. I mean what's the point of making a person go though hours of buying to get dragon balls. I liked the alternate costumes, but I wish they had more than 2. Also Goku's alternate costume wasn't that good, he's my favorite character, too bad they gave Vegeta the cool costume. The way they designed Piccolo was pretty cool too. I didn't like Great Saiyaman, I hate him, Gohan's pretty stupid to do that. This game also really makes me wonder something, the way Zarbon acts and talks, I wonder if he's gay. I won't go through all the characters, I dont think you want to read too much. Anyways, this was an awesome game, they did a great job with the graphics,sound, and gameplay were terrific, they need to make the other one this good as well.

They also should've made the gameplay longer by adding stuff like gather all the dragonballs before the ginyu force and freiza do and if you run into them you have to fight for each other's dragonball/s.Oh and when you get hit into a boulder you should have rocks on you and they should show blood as you recieve more blows , like in the show. That's why I only gave it an eight. Man I heard the second one will be just like that but the characters won't look as good as this one c ya.
| should have had buu | | crazy from uk says (5/Oct/2003): | dragonballz budokai is everything a fan needs from lightning fast fighting to the brilliant graphics there are seven modes two keep you busy.but it is to short i finished it in under 4 hours including the legend of mr.satan but the graphics are brill the sounds are a bit of a let down due to no voices from the tv series but being able to recreate your favourite fights is a must but you still get the good old kamehameha and distructo discs to make up for it this game is incredibly fun to play and hercule and his crazy moves will keep you laughing for days.to make it bettter they should have included buu.in budokai 2 there are a lot of new characters like supreme kai,goten chibi tunks,videl ect and a all new dragon mode were there will be 2 on 2 fighting and a new what if where goku and hercule fuse and so do tien and yamcha fuse i don't know how they'll do that though over all this is a very very very good game and a must for fans of the tv program it's a shame that they did'nt add in garlic jr and the buu sagas but we can hope for them in the 2nd budokai game

I also can't wait for the second Budikai game coming in December. I think the graphics are cool,and the voices for the characters is just, wow. But, now they took DBZ off the air:(, so I'm playing the game alot now. I just love the game, and, most guys (and some girls, inclding myself)must have(or already have) Dragon Ball Z:Budokai.

| a cool game, but budokai 2 is a lot better | | ss2 gohan from cleveland, ohio says (21/Sep/2003): | budokai is like the best dbz game so far i have seen. but there are to many weaknesses. one, how come the moves are the same, ( i mean when you do something like super dragon fist, it just uses the same buttons and moves) budokai2 is rumered to have a majin buu saga and 11 new characters, ( teen gohan, goten, little trunks,videl,supreme kai,dabura,android 20,majin vegeta and buu in three forms, fat normal and kid) with a ton of new fusion characters. also, if buu's around, does that mean goku can go to ss3 mode?
