Will there ever be a decent DBZ game?! |

First of all, let me just say that the DBZ cartoon is excellent. As for every game released for it, well, they suck. And i'm saying this lightly. The graphics are o.k, but fail to capture the true personality of the characters. Take for instance cell. His fighting stance is either exact or similar to everyone elses in the game, and his moveset is very limited and boring. His spirit bomb, probably the most powerful and awe-inspiring up to the cell saga, is shown as just a wimpy little animation in the game. Alright, i'll take a break from cutting on this game and give it its few props it deserves. The capsules you collect throughout the game to better mold your favorite dbz character is fun, and will give you a reason to play the game a bit longer. Also, the moves are quite easy to execute and some of the animations stay pretty close to the cartoon. Overall, this game will only be entertaining for hardcore dbz fans, NOT for fighting game fanatics, for they will not find much depth or strategy in this game.

I can't believe how many people on here say that Budokai is the best DBZ/GT game ever!! It is not!!! Buy a converter and get one of the imported games, they are much better. Budokai couldn't ever get the story down right. In budokai many aspects of the story mode are off. One for example is that it never shows Freiza getting chopped in half. The story mode is also extremely short. I beat it in about 3 hours on hard. The only real fight in the story mode is the last one against Cell (that one alone took me 45 minutes). They are makin a Budokai 2, that one will be even shorter since it will only have the Buu saga. In Budokai they even skip a saga! I know that no one cares about this saga (The Garlic Jr. Saga), but it would still add more character and at least take up more time in the story mode. It would be nice in Budokai if they had some RPG'ing. Like getting to walk around and talk to people, or train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Well, In all budokai is decent, but no where near the best DB/Z/GT game.

Excellent game but NEEDS MOVIE CHARACTORS I mean after all Brolly and Gogeta are in Dragon ball Z....may be they are in the game and i just havnt found them yet i dont know but that and i miss the story mode. And i thought it sucked when u had to beat dragonworld a time after time after time to get all breakthroughs but then i found the cheat so that made everything much better but it is a great game that is for sure. I deffintly like how charactors that are related have similar combos. But in the end it is a great game all around especially for the ones that are familiar with the series. i love to play the game with my friends over and over. One thing i would change is to have longer life when u fight your buddies like in dragonworld and to have somekind of super break through with a zenzu bean and all of the moves and attacks. With more life your could have gokus punch and ssj3 gokus punch vary allot more after all he is ssj3 and one punch from him could kill freeza and cell and the list goes on.

This was the greatest game was the greatest of all the games I played! Let me give you some cheats if your having trouble. This is a great cheat, if you can beat the advance mode with all the caracters you can get Super sayin 3 for Goku. I havn't tried it yet but I heard you can do it. Alwas customize your character. This is also a great cheat, o.k. if you have 2 memory cards make a file on the new one, beat the game and then customize the characters that you want then go to pratice or duel, then when you the see the screen you pick your character, you put tthe other memory card in and then pick your character and then were it says normal on the ritht side you now pick normal or custom. If your having trouble and need qustions E-mail me at joeylivesey< remove me > at msn.com. O.k. lets talk about the game. When you lauch the Ki blast wave, they should have craters in the ground and your clothes should be ripped and your guy has cuts and so forth and so on. I thinck I am going to get Budoki 2 for Chrismas.

I got this game for Christmas, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I expected just another fighting game only with characters from my favourite series. There are only 2 things I would have liked. 1 - I wish there was a little more freedom in flight, and 2 - I wish the "Great" Saiyaman was a little Greater you know? He has no KI waves, ok maybe gohan wanted to pretend he was someone else but still, it was a crappy unlockable, Hercule is better...I never thought I'd be saying that! But thats just a minor problem, the rest of the game is GREAT. I liked the unlockable characters, fighting environments and capsules, and storylines. My favourite character is my custom Trunks with Super Trunks2 ability. But my custom teen Gohan isn't too bad either. Actually all the saiyans are good. In short this is one of the best games I have ever played, and I don't usually even LIKE fighting games very much. So what are you doing reading this review? Go play the darn game!!!

I love some of the things in this part of it is the custimization the other part is the real voices thats pretty tight...some things i dont like is that there isnt enough moves and it has alot of button cancilations so u get cheap deaths and less reversals or counter attacks i mean come on why is it that if goku is using kamaehamaeha i cant punch him or hit im some way with out using ki blast...another thing is that why does the screen turn black during the time when they are calling theyre attack why cant i try to hurry and sommon one of my own large attacks and match theyres so that it makes like a big explosion or something... i think u get robbed out of victories just a little to much its a little frustarting at times....>:{.......................the graphics were like good ps1 graphics instead of kick ass ps2 graphics...and finally WHY ISNT THERE A BATTLE ROYAL!!!!!!!!!!!i swear if they dont put in the next one im going to go straight up postal on them ya hear me?!?!

Okay i am a dbz fun and all and this game had awlsome graphics and all but it takes forever to get some things.
Example
1. It will take forever to get all 7 dragonballs (even if you go into Mr. Popo's shop)
2. Only 1 player can choose Custom with a memroy card (come on what's up with that, what if i friend doesnt have the game)
and 3. The game can be so frustrating because the eneimeis can be so cheap.
Other than that though the game is pretty fun. They have awlsome attacks and the voices are good too.
My favorite attack is the Wrap Kamamhaha, Super Kamahamaha, and Truks Burning Attack.
Hey if you want to beat a tournment easyily heres what you can do
Put the Timer on 30 seconds (found in options)
Choose Gohan(kid) and Costimize him to have these
Kamaehamaeha
Countious Ki Blast (x2) the reason is the more he does it the more powerfull it gets
Vacine
Heart Disease
the last one is your choice but i recomend either unlock potentioal or amour

A very good game though some bad parts like in the game they forgot about the garlic junior saga then every word and event is wrong like goku when he turned into a super saiyan in the frieza saga he had a shirt on in the game he did'nt also the game sould have alot more characters an when you get hurt by a blast lose some colthes and when you are on a red bar you should be breathing hard and i hate it when you do a super attack like the spirt bomb it blowes up every thing why can't it be a crater also they fogot about the buu saga and why can't goku go into a super saiyan 2 and 3 that sould be a supprise capsule but over all it's a really good game buy it it's fun also i got news that dbz budokai 2 has chbi trunks,goten,all three buus,teenager Gohon,gotenks,vagito majin vagita and all 23 characters also in the memory card you can input dbz budokai in dbz budokai 2 memory and on dbz budokai you get new moves if you input but can't save on dbz budokai.This game rocks.

I'd give this game a 9, because on the game, we cannot fly on our own. Like, in order to fly we haft to be knocked into the sky by the opponnent. I hope its not like that in budokai2. In story mode I thought that we get to choose a story with one of the Z fighters. Another thing that bothers me is the stages. Why can't we fight in ground, mountains and stuff like that in the TV show. On the Namek level, how come we can't knock people into twisters that's in the background, after we blow it up with spirit bomb, burning attack, super kamehameha, and etc. Otherwise, this game is off the chain. The story is kinda short in a way, and some scenes in the is not what they said at all. Such as: When Goku was fighting Frieza, and he turned into a ssj, he shouted that he was a super saiyan, when he did not know what he was in the TV show. Budokai is the best fighting game that I ever played. I just hope budokai2 is the next game that will make my jaw drop.

I love the DB and DBZ series and what i have seen of DB GT. The game is a great replica of the series. I only wished that they had spent a little more time on the game so that they could have included through the Buu Saga making the Dragonball Z series complete. If they put in characters such as Android 19 and Great Sayiaman why not Buu, Dudora, and gotenks. I mean what DBZ fan wouldn't love to see their SSJ3 characters. I have unlocked everything in the game excpet all the breakthroughs because finding all the dragon balls in Mr Popo's shop takes for ever. I was also a little disapointted that they didn't put in all of Tien's moves, tri-form, solar flare, and his ultimate attack, the tri beam cannon that he used against Cell's second form. Even with these things lacking of love this game and would trade it for anything. Hopefully they will come out with a new one in a few years with all the things they missed and include things from Dragonball GT.

I Know About This Game Very Well. I Have Searched Many Websites on reviews And everybody were just talking about ''why isn't the Buu Saga Here?''. Well, The're Right. At The Back Of The Dragonball Z Budokai Game case, There Is A Picture Of Majin Buu, Babidi And Majin Vegeta And The Game Has Nothing To Do With Them! Let Me Give You A Few Reasons Of The Bad Points On This Game:
1. The Game Is Too Short
2. For English And American Version It Talks In Japanese
3. The Game Cost £45 - £50/$47 - $53 For Such The Bad Things
4. And Finnally, Bandai Have Made So Many Games Such As Ultimate Battle 22 And Final Bout On PS1 And I Like Those Games Pretty Much More Than A PS2 Game.
They Have Just Gone Too Far Now. The Money For It Is Quite A Rip Off From My Points of Veiw But Overall, The Game Is Ok so I've Decided That I Would Give This Game An ok 6. Bandai Shouldn't Even Bother Making Another Dragonball Game Now that You Have Heard Me Say My Quote.

I love the game even thought it is short I still love it I really like the Frieza Battles but the only set back to me is why cell can go through all his forms but all we can do with frieza is go from 1st to 4th.( No 2nd or 3rd) Thats my only set back. I love it when you can trade skills with diffrent characters like Frieza's Death Beam to Android 18. I think its the best the Fundimation Company needs to make another one with the Buu saga Characters like the Surpreme Kai, Goten , Majin buu Etc. all the way to The end of Gt. And one more thing every battle should be long cause to me the Frieza battle and with Trunks was to short and so was the Cell saga. And in the next game they should put in the movie characters too. I Love the way they made Vegeta and Goku and Cell Look they look alright. But this is to the Fundimation company or whoever made this Frieza's voice is not that light ( Okay maybe in his 1st form but not his 4th.

I think this is the best Dragonball Z game out yet. I own Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22, but this is by far the best yet. i hope they bring out a second involving the Babadi Saga, Majin Boo, Fusion and Kid Boo Saga's. That would make it better than Budokai. The one thing i like about the game is the finishing manovers you can land on other characters. The custom characters option is great aswell. The Tournament mode is great. I found the Mr Satan Mini-Game Quite Funny but then again a bit pointless. You don't earn anything is you comlete it. I completed all the tournaments and unlocked everything. The Dragonballs you can collect is great with the breakthrough's you can wish for. The reson why i didn't give it 10 is because all the talking was in japanise. I can't understand a word. It would have gotten 10 otherwise. Thats my summery on this awsome game. I'ts one thats not going to keep me board for a while.

DBZ Budokai,I must admit that the tournament and vs modes are fun,but...Stroy mode wasnt as great as i thought.
they missed LOTS of parts and characters to put,for example:They missed the part when Vegeta is about to destroy earth whith his Garlick Gun and Goku counters it with a King Kai Fist Kamehameha,when Frieza is chopped in half,The battle of Cell V.S Super Trunks 2 after Vegeta's and a weird thing,When Cell is resurected before anyone can see him he launches the beam to Trunks,not half n hour after he is resurected,Where are all the forms of Frieza?The ginew force member Jeice,Burter ect.And one thing,I like dueling against friends in this game very much,but WHY I can't fly whenever i want to?I ust can fly to where the opponent is,in my opinion that was a bad mistake.Anyways I like customizing my characters and use them in tournaments..I hope they Correct this mistakes in Budokai 2...Well,I hope so......

Well, My opinion of this "game" is it's too much of one thing! I mean, my brother spends 3 hours on that game and doesnt acomplishe one thing! Now, did u ever think how this game helps u? SURE! It helps my bro get even more annyoing! What about u? What does it help u on? Oh, I know what u will think now! "Its a game! We do it on our free time!" well how much free time do u have? U have time to do more things than that! I mean, Dragom Ball Z Budokai, now lets think about that name, and the abilities of the game! HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, it makes me wonder, how does the game make me get smarter and how does the name aract me? I mean The NAME! THE NAME IS SO COOL! But the game doesnt have anything in common! Think about that! Remember its MY opinion!

i think dbz lacks characters like gohan as a kid not teen gohan and ss4 goku the people who made the game should make some moves that kill them in 1 shot and be solid to do like every button five times well i hope dbz budokai3 is better i have seen a few videos and snap shots and i looks to be quite good sio i hope everyone who gets it likes it my favourite part is were you cane actually go place to place

i mean that this game has good graphics but i think that dragonball gt final bout was a better game because in budokia there was no build up mode like in dragonball gt final bout and i thought that buying skills instead of learning them was stupid.
Also i think that the game was way to short for somthing like dragonball z if you were to start the episodes of dragonball z from the beginning it would take you months to watch all of them.
and in dragonball gt final bout if you did two of special moves with the characters at the same time the blasts would collide and wich blast was stronger would power through the other blast and hit the enemy the next game should be alot longer and instead of buying skills you should have a build up mode to levele up and learn moves as you level up and it is missing some characters to the game and it should have more sagas that is why i dont like the game to much

anyone who says that this game sucks, doesn't know anything about gaming! the gameplay, the story mode all of it is so well made! personally my favourit is teen gohan whit his super kamehameha, all my friends who sees the game wants it very bad! vegeta and trunks ar also cool! about the tournament, you just have to dodge away from the edge if you are to close! i have one question only, there is only one capsule left for me to find, but i can't find it anywhere! it supposed to be the history mode but i don't no exactly! like i still have over 200 000 zenies and there is nothing more to unlock except for that one capsule i can't find, it's a grey one! to bad that budokai 2 will have a more drawn character graphic like, the background is normal! only the characters are more drawn like! for the rest looks budokai2 even better then the one! i'm counting the days untill it comes out! budokai RULES!!!!!

First of all as a DBZ fan I was blown away at just how accurate they were with the levels, character apperince and how well they followed the show. I have to admit I was a little dissopointed that Choitzu wasn't playible. All of you who say that it is bad because the Bu Saga wasn't in it: you have to remember the Bu saga only started recintly and the game has been in production for years. Also it is MAJIN BU not MARGIN BOO. Get it right people! Also the Garlic Jr. Saga was the shortest saga not not that relevent so there was no point in putting it in the game. The game graphics were WONDERFUL as well as sound/speech (I loved that they got the actors to do the voices) and gameplay. Although it was great and will continue to be so for a long time like I said I was a little dissipointed about the lack of Choitzu and the fact that you can not fly on command as you shuld be able to in my opinion.
