i think there should be more cheats for the game like no cops or hold all weapons or unlimitid health armour well there is unlimited health just enter the double health cheat like 25 times and you have unlimited health and if i was to make the game i would have some cars with the driver side on the left hand side insread of the right all the time if you agree with me vote plz i have a bet with my brother to see who cann get mor votes i still say i will win so please vote for me you wont regret it cmon you know you want to anyways the game was great i foung it quite fun i rapped it like 4 times i think the free roam should be more realistic though anyways i gtg plz vote for mewell i ind that pretty cheap you have to have 150 words well im just going to keep typing for the sake of typing even though i dont really care what i say(type)im just board

The getaway missions are quite easy and we have finished all of the game it's very fun on free roam but it gets a bit boaring after a while. The motor bikes are not as good as i thought they were going to be. I think the graphics are awesome. Its good to drive a round but i dont know if your aloud on the london eye.
The cars are very good. I like the lotus and a few others. My favourite gun is probbaly the AK-47 because it can soot a lot of bullets out at a time. I think its a bit to much like the old one.The missions are a lot better it has more of a story to it and you can do more stuff. The charters are a lot better and i like it because you have a map when you pause the game. There are very very good sights

The Getaway is a great game! I had it for two years and I HATED IT BECAUSE I COULD NEVER BEAT A STUPID LEVEL!!! Now since last Monday I'm playing it whenever I can. I'm already on level 07; I know it does not sound like much, but with my strategy guide within eyesight, and my controller in my hands, and the game in the ps2, I can play for as long as possible. The Getaway a 10/10 is because ever since Grand Theft Auto San Andreas came out I played that for a while. You got to admit the last 3 GTA games: III, Vice City, and San Andreas are addictive as well as The getaway. I think The Getaway and GTA:SA are tied so I'd give them both 10/10s. This is one of the best games I've ever played and I want to play #2 soon. I'm going to go and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

note:you can only get sawed off shotgun in the stairs..
good luck ,the sawed off shotgun can only shot 2 times.
and then relod, the gun could kill a person with 1 shot..
the M79 is in the police station but you have to heve a
shotgun to open the gate..

Okay, I'm spoiled; my first intro to PS2 was with GTA3 & Vice City, so I know how much fun a game can be when there are things to do beyond completing mandatory missions. And yes, Team Soho did a fantastic job with recreating a detailed London; I lived in Bloomsbury for five years, so not only can I drive around the game without a map, but some of the stores in the game are exactly where I remember them! The downside, though, is that it's next to impossible to allow free roaming everywhere in this big city, and that's a shame. Whereas games with specifically created worlds can make sure every location counts, in The Getaway there are a number of parks, squares, etc that are no more than obstacles to drive around. Also, it would be nice to have something to do in Free Roaming mode other than drive around; after a while, I want to get out of the car and find new things to do!

I played the game. I beat it and enjoyed it. I thought that the best improvement to the game would be to make all the shopping places open and houses open so Mark Hammond can start real crime and rob banks. If the game just added this sort of thing then it would be even greater than grand theft auto. The graphics were awsome though, I give that a 10. Free roaming should have been better than just driving around. If the game ever had a part two , My suggestion would be to make an open bank , a Mac Donald's , an office building , everything that Mark Hammond can walk in and out of instead of roaming in only a car. This would make the game fun because driving shouldn't only be a factor in the game. Starting crime in and out of Mac Donalds would be my example of the game fun factor.

I can't understand why so many people think this is a crap game, it's one of the best I've ever played, and what's this about no map? I got one in the box with the game, is this a recent thing they've done, it must be. All in all though I reckon this is a top quality game, certainly on a par with gta 3 which I absolutely loved, a damn good copy of London, real cars, and it's very challenging, it's also a hell of a lot more realistic than gta, the voices are spot on, the background sounds are excellent, graphics are top quality and are seamless on the ps2. Gameplay is fantastic, I could play this game for hours on end and not be bored, last night I stayed up till 3 playing it, and of course the most imprtant thing, it's fun! The only gripe I have with it is that you can't do missions as and when you want, the ability to roam fereely at any point would've been nice, and maybe a few mini games as in killing yardies in gta 3. Oh yeah and it's annoying that it takes so long to load each mission. But overall, Two tumbs fresh!

I think the getaway is one of the most exciting, and funnest action games i have ever played. I can sit there staring at the tv for hours plaing the getaway. If this game never would have came out, than i propbably would have never gotten a playstation 2. Ity was the first game i ever played, and i never played games before that. So it was fun, and i enjoyed it very much, i would recomend this game for any one who loves video games, and has never played the getaway.To tell you the truth, it's i would have to probably say that it's better than grand theft auto, and streets of La put together. And by the way, i love this site. It has everything that i want, or need to know about games.including x box, and gamecube. I also like the getaway, becaue it's graphics, and storyline are kick ass. And my favorite part is probably running from the cops, and shooting people, and taking people hostages on the streets. The one thing that sucks, is that the game is a little difficult, especially level 7, where you are in the police station trying to kill the cop.

I'll simply tell you that this game is a driving game like Grand Theft Auto and Driver, but better than both in the most important aspects: Graphics & Storyline & Style.
Man! You get REAL CARS! It was the kind of city like driving game that i was waiting for, and i think that you too, and it isn't for any rookie, you start the game and you have to make it, no tutorials and things like that. The city, London, c'mon, not even that foggy Vice City, and the graphics, just go and look at the details like the size of a car (it isn't a toy-like car, like in Vice), the size of the people, and even some great details in GamePlay like how the game goes from the street to hot action inside buildings, etc, it's the coolest.
But this game was like a joke in some aspects like don't having a map, no change of camera, no rear view, no place to own and no time to walk around (in the beginning of a game like this, most ppl prefer to walk around a bit), etc, and for health there should be items, so that's why i'll give it a fair 8. Get free of those "for children/amateurs" games like Vice City and grab Getaway (Oh c'mon, you know it's true, V.City characters have a fish like head/face, even Mercedes, and don't talk about the body...).

Ok so i loved this game. The graphix n life system where rly realistsic but theres kinda a downside tio this. I think it was just STUPID 4 the makers of the getaway to leave ouhyt a map cos it needs 2 b more like GTA and u cant see where the hell ur goin. This dusnt help as the direction helper that they give you with the indicators flashing on the car ur drivoing rly sux n its confusing. I took me 1 hour to figure nout where i shuld b goin on the mission where u have 2 trash up the replubilic, this is how bad the indicator ythingy is. whereas, if i had of had a map it would of taken me like 1 minute! Also its confusing bcos u dont kno howmany bullets u have n the sound is dark and gansta-ey but just not as varied and amazong like GTA:VC. Its great and rly captures London but i think they missed out most of the freedom and bonuses like being able to go into shops ect. thats in GTA:VC. The game is still great but 4 tgose of you hoo want to go around just killing ppl GTA mitre b better4 for you. don get me wrong i LOVE the action in this game like how you can take ppl hostage and run around with a machine gun but u can rly feel that theres a big element missing.
*btw ppl 2 get police hostage more easily so when u try they dont arrest you do this:*
1)Get a hostage wen the police r chasing you - the police will now oout their hands up but ODNT TURN YOUR BACK ON THEM.
2)Shoot whatever policemen/woman you like and decide which 1 u wnat 2 take hostage.
3)Walk up to ur chosen police officer as close as u can get but not so u walk thru the police officer (What the hell is up with this glitch?)
4)Kill the hostage qith a chokeold and then press the grab button immdetiatekly afetr.
5)Ull now have the police person hostage so happy playing every! :D

Getaway it wasn't a bad game it had a lot of swearing but i thought it was far better than GTA my first gangster game that i didnt mind
Graphics- 8/10
Action- 9/10
It had awsome missions and a lot of action so if your into GTA type games then this game is for you its just like GTA but set in England it is far better than GTA will ever dream of being.
Its about a guy who lost his wife to a group of gangsters and know he is determaned to win back his kidnapped son from them can he win him back?
9/10 Getaway!

The Getaway is a great game with graphics that are so realistic you actually get the feelin that you are driving around the streets of London! The plot is based on two characters, Mark Hammond and PC carter and with these two characters you try and infiltrate the notorious Charlie Jolson. The value of the game is brilliant as it can keep you entertained for hours and have you on the edge of your seat as you try and wipe out the triad gang and get chased after by the yardies. Similar to GTA yet the lock, stock and barrel element adds more delight! if you dont have this game in your collection, then i reccommend you buy it today!

BRILLIANT one of the best games i have brought for my ps2 in ages, for starters it has real cars to steal and real shops the graphics are ace and the the story line is really good.And it is actually London i used a street map because that one you get with it isn't very good.i'd say soho have done a brilliant job and i dont think anyone can say that this is a quality game.so if you havn't brought it buy it NOW!!!!

Not much cars but still this game is fun cause you ride around in real cars I like acting like a normal driver in free roaming mode but first beat the game! with codes cause free roaming mode is very very FUN!!! I've been to England in 1997.

Okay this game is fun but one of the most funniest crashes I had was when I was driving a Dahatsu Storia I think,and I was coming off of a bridge and then turned down a road and then wam! I smacked into a 1990 Toyota Camery and sent me flying In the air and fell back down and spun-out 4 times! While spinning I SMACKED right into an Old man with a yellow shirt and Kacky pants! He was on the road and was trying to run away and I tried to put on the brakes but they were useless! And I was driving that car for about 3 hours and I loved that car and I was so mad I shot the guy that crashed into me! And when he hit me I yelled you damn son of a gun you! I want to here your stories about this game please right a review of your funniest crash!

Great game with minor flaws. THe graphics are excellent but could have been better in the parks. Driving aspect is good a realistic. Needs a few more weapons and should have had access to Subway stations. Good replicas of London and excelent sound. |

The Getaway is diffenetly not an average game. First of all Team Soho have created nearly an exact replica of London. The sound is very good because it has a fast tempo in the action scences. THe graphics are great. THe textures used are very real unlike Vice City which is like a cartoon. The Getaway in my opinion needs a few more weapons. But I must admit that having thousands of weapons can make the game very unreal. You should be able to accss the subway stations (they are always locked). The cars are real with good physics and textures. There should be motor bikes. It is good that the game has double deckers because it protects you well from the cops. I think that it is great how you can crouch under objects, shuffle along walls and espicially take pedestrians hostage. The police go a bit easy on you and it seems that they only go after you if you crash right in front of their car. The graphics on the parks of London are a bit Playstation 1 ish which is a bit disapointing. The game suffers a few flaws. When you kill someone and look away and then back, sometimes their body vanishes and you can walk right though a dead body. In the first level I was playing when I got to Charlie's warehouse. I stole the red car and bashed the entarance. The car went right through and the door was as good as new. I also don't see the need to have petrol drums. I mean why would a warehouse have petrol drums just lying there for no purpose. Ther getaway probably has the best story line in any game created. The voices are very british and they link up the missions very well. The Getway 2 is coming out and it looks promising. The game has already gone platnium ($59.95 NZ, $18 pounds $25 american)and sold more than 500,000 copies. A must buy for any PS2 owner.

The game is so radicle execept for the taking and recovering of life.I have the game even though it was hard but since i had Grand theft auto 3 it wasnt that hard. just put your mind to it and before you know it your dc carter. then you finnaly finish the game.
