Brings people a terrific thematic sequence as well to life. The game it self has proven it was better than Max Payne and Grand Theft Auto III. But It wasn't as great as GTA Vice City. Which is okay. Any way they still had all of the Blood, Drug refferences, Strong Language, strong sexual content, and of course the violence. You were able to jack cars and even had some professional actors. This game to me is the most enuthastic game of them all. Come on who wouldn't want to play this game? The reason why I like it so much because the game it self was set in London, England. IN course of which it was all ways one of the facinating places that I would ever want to go visit. The game did a good job of the recreation of London. So take it from me you have 2 great people Mark Hammond and Frank Carter, two men that hate the same punk ass Charlie. "Fear is all in the minds if your a criminal." So I suggest that you all go out and Buy this game or you will be missing out on the best game ever made in the year of 2003. I hope that all of you have it in you to give this game a chance to win an award just like MGS2 Sons Of Liberty did back in 2001. (It also may be best if you rent the game before you purchase it for your self just to see what I am telling you gamers out there).

i think that the getaway is a very good game for instant the graphics is excellent and compared to vice city is really incredable . Although i find that there could also be some improvements such as more variety of weapons and not quite so detailed missions . The cars on the getaway are to be honest are a little bit rubbish because the speed of them are perthetic and it gives you know thrill what so ever but on vice city the cars are faster plus its got a more wide variety of car and motorbike . Thats another downside to the getaway it has only got cars and no motorbikes or boats or anything like that . I think the getaways a very playable game but the music really puts me off its the same music over and over again which drives me a little bit crazy . I have given the game 8 out of 10 because even though there is lots of good sides there are quite a phew dssadvantages aswell .

Where do i start...hmmm. This game sux! Although the graphics are tops for for this type of game, everything else is sub par at best. For instance, following tiny little turn signals during the car chase scenes is too confusing especially when your trying to pay attention to the traffic ahead....while outrunning cops and Yardy's at the same time. Also you have no indication of life during gunfights,...the weapons are too few,.....resting against a wall will heal you?.....what kind of crap is that? and the one thing that bothers me the most....the stupid, retarded storyline (cut scenes) that you are forced to watch regardless of seeing it one or more times. In protest i am going down to my local video game store and trading it in for Britany Spears Dance party....then i'm going to set IT on fire in the middle of the street!

This game has beaten all the aspects of Vice City! The storyline is very interesting (almost like an original gangster movie) and the graphics looks a lot better; cleaner,faster, and more crisp. Before this game came out, I was hooked on to GTA Vice City so much that i spent all day playing it. It was a good game, now that The Getaway has been released, I was hooked onto the Getaway more than Vice City. I thought that there wouldn't be any game that can beat the Grand Theft Auto series, but for the first time, im reviewing a game that had finally beat GTA series. Sounds of the game are realistic and the AI's are marvelous, there is a better use of strong languages and violence that can express emotions, and the full scale model of London is so breathtaking!! I think this game should come up with its own series just like GTA, because it's better off starting something new, not just a title (GTA series) that has roamed the playstation consoles for a couple of years. Sorry GTA, but it's the Getaway's turn to reinvent the action/drama wheel:-P!!!!

This game is the most brilliant game I've ever played sure it's though but thats what is good about it.Sure ESRB rates this game mature I am only 11 the sexual themes are not good for me but hte voilence and fast gameplay is the key to sucess of this awesom game the sound effects are perfect and the voice acting is very realistic The guns are not that what i expect from this game but what the hek this is a wonderful copy of GTA but Better the cutscences come very often.At the start there are many cutscences. YEAH BABY!!!

I don't no how anyone could ever dislike this game. First of all, the graffix are outstanding, there are no glitches at all. Second, the gameplay is awesome. You could take your enemy hostage and use him as a human shield or pinpoint him from long range when he still dosn't know your around. The driving in this game is also outstanding, very realistic. However, there are some flaws, for example, you only get one view of your car, so if your being chased, you can't see how far ahead you are. Dispite the few minor flaws, this is defietly the best game for PS2 so far. the graffix totally stomp on Vice City, or any other Grand Theft Auto game, as does the gameplay, so it seems to be time that all you GTA fans (myself included) make a change. And to the other reviewers who cared to wine about the lack of a map and health bar, quite bitching and grow up.

The graphics were good, the storyline was good, and set a high standard for future games to beat. But just like any game, there was a downside to it. After you beat the game, there is not much to do except drive around and shoot people, there were lots of glitches, the views weren't that great, and the story is slow at times. They should have had more missions and more things to do after you beat the game. I'm sure if there is a sequal it has a good chance it might be able to compete With Grand Theft Auto.

I just bought the game yesterday i love it. Theres awsome graphics witha sweet story. The controls are easy (unless you suck) which many people seem to be. Its so cool you get to control two charcters with two different stories. Two games in one! Free roaming is cool but you have to beat the gamer first. Theres a total of 24 levels enough for one week of play ( if you dont play it non-stop. If your not sure than rent it first. A MUST Buy

The game is really good, great graphics, sound and gameplay. The thing that sticks out that I don't like is how these games are becoming so cliche. The movement copies that of Max Payne and the whole game itself is a British form of GTA. Also, the limited number of weapons, no radar or health, and bad camera angles make the game difficult tos play for a decent period of time. I do like the fact that the game is willing to say "$#< remove me > at !" as much as it does, something that would be way cool in GTA. Also, GTA has better deaths. More gore and of course the ability to roam would make this game one of the best. All in all, go with VC

Okay maybe there is 5 weapons, but c'on! Driving was frustrating. You hit a stop sign and your car slams to a stop like you hit a building... must be made from titanium. Streets will "drive" you nuts. But I've been to London and that's really how it is. The cops are NOT that brillent however. You would think that switching cars, the police wouldn't know what you're driving. The AI is too pumped up. Beat the game in 8 days which is another dissapointment... too short. And the free roam should be in availible in the beginning. For $40.00, buy it.. for $50, I'd have to think twice. Better than GTA:VC? I'd say no. I like picking the fights with whomever, exploring things you just want to explore. They were going for realism in this game.. Yes they got it, but it could have been better. Like the Map- where is it?! The blinker thing would have been fine in the US where the streets are "normal." You can over-shoot your target by a mile and a half. Okay, stop reading, and go play!

I'm 12 and i think this game is da boom it rocks. The only bad thing is the guns nought enough we need m16s rifles machine guns it is one bad ass game. Oh and the cheats need to be better and you need to be able to have roam as an option and be able to go in all stores and bars.

I like this game, but it could have been a little better with the camera angles and the views in the cars, but overall, it was pretty cool. for one thing, when a guy is shooting me from behind, it takes forever to turn around! but by the time i get turned around, im dead! anyway, the graphics are great, and it has a pretty good variety of cars to'jack. the missions are challenging and hard, but fun. the game also has a sense of realism also. oh and its kind of hard to tell when there's someone behind you too. the sounds are terrific, but the cops are much harder than GTA 3 and GTA Vice city.they should have had motorcycles and bycicles though.any way,since this was pretty good, i think i would give this cool game a seven.

When i got home i put the game in and boom i was blown away at the beginning cut scene. The graphics made GTA Vice City's look like a Disney Movie. Then i played the first level and felt like throwing the controller out of the window. This game is horrible i thought...until i found out how to heal. Not only does this game have great action, but a killer storyline. There were no health bars, which made the game feel more like real life. The only thing that i didn't like was the ending for DC Carter. But all in all its awesome!You have to buy this Game!

This game is 10 times better then gtavc because the graphics are way better and it has sort of a better plot. Sure GTAVC was good but this game blew my mind away when I started playing. The second level is a bit hard but it is still and always will be better then any GTA. The lifespan on this game isn't bad, there are 24 missions in all. There are 12 missions a character. This game is sort of a mix between GTAVC and Splinter Cell. I say is is like splinter cell because you can do stealth mode and a bunch more things with it.

this game is the best game ive ever played in my life. i have yet to play GTA:vice city but im thinking i shouldnt even bother with a clone of GTA3 with just horrifying graphics. The Getaway has grand turismo like graphics with a max payne sort sort of fell when on foot. i cant wait till Driver 3 comes out because the Driver series 1 and 2 were my favorits before The Getaway came out i believe Driver 3 will be better than The Getaway cause big truks jack nifeing says it all.

Most people try to compare The Getaway to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and in turn, are disappointed when they find out that the only real connection the two games share is the Mafia type theme. Unlike the latter, that is made for good wholesome mass carnage, The Getaway is centered around realism. For some this may cause a problem because you may be used to having maps, health bars, and also knowing how much ammo you have left. Not with The Getaway. There are, in my opinion, several things in this game that I believe need improvement. First of all, the controls could use a little work. The layout of the button presses and configurations is decent, but when immersed in a gun fight or trying to get out of one, the controls can sometimes get you a new friend...the coroner. The next potential killer is the camera movement and angles. With the realism, I don't expect to see everything, but there are several places that you would definitely be able to see something, but can't, because the camera is focused in the wrong angle or direction. Not good...here comes the body bag. The other improvements needed have to do with the driving aspect of the game. For instance, I believe you should be able to look left, right, and behind while driving. This would not effect the realism due to the fact that we can actually see in those directions while driving in our boring, can't plow pedestrians, "real" life. Another problem I had with the driving aspect is being able to bail out of a car while moving. With this complaint, I would like to keep the realism amd recieve varied health damage depending on speed and what you may have impacted with. Overall, I rate The Getaway as an 8 out of 10 because of the realism, the story, and my love for rampant carnage. This is definetly a must play, as long as you don't mind a few minor problems.

The Getaway is perhaps one of the only games that I have played that offers such a since of reality. Many people criticize the fact that there is no map based navigation or any type of heads up display. This howerver adds to the realism of the entire game.
Graphics are top noch. The only complaint I will agree with is The issue with control. The controls are considerably miserable, ie. the invert. The driving is however rather realistic. London has not been completely reconstructed, but I doubt there will be anyone to do a better Job than team SOHO has.As for the racism issue, if we ask for realism, we will get it. I think Team SoHo did not hold back on any aspect of reality. Overall I believe that The Getaway is more than worth its price of 39.99 USD. If you are a fan of Grand Theft Auto and Max Payne, This is definetly a must have.

The game is really fun, but the missions make me want to shout out curse words! What I dislike about this game is that the turn siginals can be missleading..... Like when you come up to a 5 way intersection. Also being from the United States driving on the left side of the road and the right side of the car really pisses me off, and another thing how many one way streets are there in London. The civic planners of that city should be ashamed
