This game is moderately amusing but far too drawn out. If you like story heavy games with too little action this game is for you, but you might as wel just read a scifi or fantasy book. One the other hand, the graphics and music in this game are pretty good, and the character developement system works well if you understand it.
In entertainment value the gameplay is lacking as there is far more story than combat. This makes the game seem to drag on instead of flowing smoothly. On the other hand,While the story seems fairly original, instead of a revised version of "the hero of proficy" you see in most games, it lacks the ability to pull you into it and hold your interest.
Overall this game is average, but too storyline based to hold the interest of anyone but the most diehard Xenogears fan.

I've played ALL the final fantasy games. No, I'm SERIOUS. I can't see how this one wasn't developed by Squaresoft!!Great storyline, plot, you name it! It gave me a break from rolling plains, medival times, swords and dragons. My only regret was that you couldn't change the character names.Of course, this makes for better voiceovers! And there's somthing with that fat lady on shion's best ether, you know the one that takes 9999 damage? And also that ether takes too long!! Learned a bit about alchemy too!Albedo,Rubedo,Nigredo...all from alchemy.I'm eager for xenosaga episode 2

This game, is a complete and utter waste of time. It is not meant for those who feel passion, which is EXACTLY WHAT XENOGEARS HAD........PASSION. This game is for analytical nerds who can't appreciate vibrant flames that burn outside the cohensive analytical mindset their chink like brains flucuate....this game is a pitiful excuse. The programmers, and script producers should do one thing......suicide. No questions asked. Do NOT rent this game.....do NOT BUY this game, you WILL most likely regret it. Unless ofcourse, you're weak, or fat, wear glass's, and no one likes you. In which case you'll most likely love this game, because you're a loser....just like those who made this game, and just like the associated credibility rating can be mirrored off.

Ok I am a BIG Final Fantasy fan I mean i got all of them. I think that this game was ok and yes I do agree that the screen shots were kinda long and that the game was mroe like a movie. I would recomend this game to someone that likes FF because it has some of the basics not a lot but some. I find that Final Fantasy 11 beat this game by a million. But that is just my opinion. Man i got to download that game again :( . I find that this game is cool to play when you have beat all the Final Fantasys or u are stuck on a part of FF7 lol well I hope that this becomes usefull to some one i mean all it is, is an opinion lol. Ok guys heres how it goes... xenosagas was an outstanding game. Lots of fun with a great storie line. The graphics are also probably the best i have ever seen. The great thing about this game is that it was not made for morons. The story line ties completely in with xenogears so it needs to be elaborate with twists and turns because that is what made xenogears suca a great game. Xenosagas and ff7 are the only two games i would ever give a nine every thing else would be lower except for xenogears. It would be the only ten i would ever give. So for all you xenosaga fans out there go and look up xenogears on some dusty shelf in a game store no one goes too cuz any where else it would be sold out.

Xenosaga, not to be mistaken with Xenogears, is yet another RPG game that uses CGI as an enema. Wooo... pretty cut scenes that a smart person made that allows you to skip them. Wooo... awesome game play and intensely l33t attacks. Wooo... characters that have back grounds other than 'Trained in Okinaowa for 20 years to master the martial arts and kick big fat guys' butts.' Wooo... this game rocks. Seriously folks. The smooth gameplay is only jumpy when it goes into a blackout and you see a beautifully rendered animation. The game is long, and worth the time, and there is actually a plot behind the game that isnt a run of the mill lame ass excuse for a story line. It ranks up there with Final Fantasy and .Hack. If you're looking for a Sci-Fi RPG that includes chicks that can beat your ass, giant armored battle suits, real fake people, and a maniac that wants to mess up the world... not to mention a robot that can blow stuff up and something called U-Do (sounds like a condom slogan...) then you HAVE to check this out. This Game is so cool. But Ziggy Is Raw i like his attack meteor kick i think or meteor rain oh forget it.It will be so fuuny if Kos-mos and Ziggy got marrid and they made a baby. I Bet Ziggy can even beat cloud and Tidus from ff7 and ff10. ok everyone. this was a Spec-$#< remove me > at !ing-tacular game. awesome story line, great visuals. but when you say its better than FF7, you need to rethink your life. haha ok that was a little much, but please. if you have ever played FF7, you KNOW for a fact you had the chance of a lifetime when it comes to the gaming world. heads up for FF 7 lovers by the way, in the upcoming ff XIII, there is a video based on FF7 on it. much love to both these games, cant wait til FF11 comes out on the 24th and Xenosaga 2 in 2005. done

Xenosaga must be the best rpg i have played in years its way better than FFX and way better than FFX-2 its just the best i cant wait till nenosaga part 2 .Any one that likes a good rpg knows its good the only reason ppl are saying bad stuff about it it because its made my namco in my opinion think namco is better than square-enix.Oh and u just must love the whole long cut scenes they are just beautiful ......!kills FF7 .for ppl that like a good short rpg u have to play legend of dragoon i think its better than FF7 it was great u ppl say u likeshort cut scenes and more playing u have to play it ;its old and good ...but nothing compared to xenosaga

Here is a quick run of reality for all of you that don't like this game... And it for many reasons had the same problame Xenogears did with it just being to hard. For you munchkins out there that seems to think getting uber powerful quickly makes the game great. First of all learn to rp before judging any game like this secondly if I hear one more thing about final fantasy being better I am gonna beat ya all down even more so. Those of you that go around in circles for hours it's because you think games like this should be straight forward and show you the way well your morons also. This game ranks right up there with Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 5, Xenogears, and Chronotrigger.

I have only just started playing this game.. yea it is quite boring at the start but once you get further into it... kewl! i was a little confuesd at the scenes that were played at the start .. but they give explanations later on.. like Shions other freind.. from two years ago.. they only showed a short clip.. but im like who is he ??? besides all of that it IS awsome.. A mix of ONI and Final Fantasy. (Thou i have no real love for ONI). But for those of you that gave it the lowest score.. you have issues if you cant see this as an exelent game.. i love the graphics.. story line.. EVERY THING.. and i hope those of you will come to realise how well made this game is.. Next time... PLAY THE GAME THROUGH TO SEE WHAT IT IS REALLY LIKE WEATHER YOU DON'T THINK MUCH OF IT OR NOT!!!!!.... hey its me...

The only reason I think people dont like this game is because NAMCO made it a little to smart for most people to understand, which is my favorite thing about this game. I admit when I played the first hour and experienced the whole gnosis attack I didnt like it a whole lot. The longer I played the more I realized the game is actually quite brilliant, the story line ties the characters together flawlessly and the characters are the best I have seen since Xenogears or even Final Fantasy 3. It starts off a little slow but if you stick through the first hour you are well rewarded. The battle system is great and the graphics are nearly flawless. The Music is appropriate for an RPG. I was expecting a pre-quel to Xenogears but got an entirely original story all togther. The Tech Attacks are awesome too! Stick with it for awhile, Its worthe it

I hate this game. Waste of money. I can't believe NAMCO would put out such a horrible game. Probably the worst RPG ever!!! What is up with the ...robots in the battle out of no where? And the bunny? Stupid. The plot line was horrible, and the game took way to long. I felt like killing myself. The characters reminded me of drugged-up hippies. Done.

Xenosaga has excellant graphics, best i've seen yet and the story line wasn't bad either,but near the beginning when the Gnoises or what ever those things were,I don't know if it was just me but I could not get anywhere I keep on going around and around in circles.I totally spent 4 to 10 hours on that little part and over and over "GAME OVER" MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I thought I was going to die.and the rooms were all the same ,all of them.But I have to admit Kos_Mos was kick ass good!!!!! ;)

This game has a good story but yet some parts of the story are yet to be revealed in Episode II which will be 10 years from now. I think FF is better because you get to travel different places. This game has the same boring scenes till the end. The best character in the game is KOSMOs, as for Shion her voice is annoying and she seems like a real NERD. As for chaos, what was that character's designer smoking making him look real GAY. I mean come on.

I have to say the animation is good, but what's that when u r busy sleeping during the whole game.Don't waist your'e money on that junk, ff is soooooo much cooler. You accually PLAY the game. This is accually me being nice about the game. (since it was a christmas present)And if you do have it the most useful thing you can do now that youre 50 bucks are gone act like it's the best game ever and sell it to you're little brother...not that i ever did that...

It's not a bad game, but not nearly as good as Xenogears. I don't understand how anyone could compare it to FFVII, well FFVII back in its day for what it was. FFVII had heart to it and saved the RPG genre while Xenosaga is a bit boring and has too many cinamatics. It lacks game play. and the main character sucks. she has no real personality.

I haven't even finished the game yet and I love it so much to do and so much to finish. Great cutscenes almost seems more like a movie that I could watch over and over than a game. I plan on playing it again just so I can pick up what I missed the first time.

I KNOW EVRY 1 IS ENTITLED 2 THEIR OWN OPINION BUT SOME OF YOUR OPINIONS SUCK. the battle sequence in this game is crap compared 2 xenogears. ok this is a decent game but it could have been better they even copied junior off of billy lee black. you people know nothing of clasic rpgs. the people that made this game are just trying 2 make a buck just like the .hack people except the .hack people actually have a good stroy line(bandai). most of you idiots need 2 get a clue and people ffx really wasnt all that great compared 2 ff7 the materia idea rocked although the sphere grid was very dynamic but so was materia. and the story 4 this game really wasnt all that great. if u ppl think this game was great u need 2 take w/e u have up ur but take it out get a clue and then go rent/buy ff7 and xenogears
