sweet game, better then i expected |
| brandon from saginaw,mi,usa says (30/Jun/2003): |
this game is thee best i ever played. i love the weapon exp. thing. i like it because most people in dw3 prolly rushed right into the 3rd and 4th weapons. i know this b/c i was one of them and i realized that it isnt that fun and may be defined as cheating. another thing i liked is the fact that the mighty lu bu actually has his own musho mode. my only dislike is that there were only 3 new characters. i was hoping for more but o well. the fact that lubu has his own mushu mode makes up for that

One of the best games around |
| A gamer from Canada says (29/Jun/2003): |
Dynasty warriors 4 is pratically one of the best games out besides an oldy GTA: vc. This game was worth all my money and this is a game that you must buy. It was a great improvment. Personally I say that the weapon system is great. In the end the only defalt is the endings for any clans....

Dynasty Warriors 4 is One of the Best Games You Will Ever Play |
| Canadian from Canada says (29/Jun/2003): |
This is one really great game and one of the best games ever! There is at least 100 characters to chose from and you can even have more by making them yourself! There is a lot of levels to play and you wont be finishing it for a long time (unless you play it nonstop). My favorite charecter is Gyan-Yu ( I think that is how ya spell it). He will fling people a mile when you hit them.

AWSOME!!!!! |

Could have been better |
| John from Sacramento, California United States says (28/Jun/2003): |
After playing through Dynasty Warriors 4 a few times, I was left very disappointed. I was really into the 3rd part because it offered a lot of new things that were really needed in part 2 but this 4th installment to the series is very much like the 3rd part with very few differences.
Sure there are new characters to the game now but they're really just old characters from part 3 that were re-done to be in the main characters line-up. The story is basically the same as it was in part 2 and 3 with the same characters and very few new moves. I'm getting pretty tired of the same characters returning to fight wars again and again. Koei need to create a whole new cast of characters with only a few of the old characters returning. Let's not forget about a whole new set of moves too. A new story should also be created. Please, no more remixes of the same story. People out there are shelling out over $50 to buy these games and it's lame to see the same thing again with only a few tweaks here and there.
The next thing that annoys the hell out of me is the option of switching the language from english to japanese with english subtitles on being taken away in this 4th installment. The awesome Japanese voices were translated and acted out horribly. Many of the voices don't even go with the characters (such as Guan Yu and Yuan Shao's American voices). I don't know why Koei decided to take away the option of switching the languages in the first place.
Another thing that really bugs me is that many of the characters who needed to be improved in certain areas such as skill, speed, or power where toned down to the point where it's so much of a hassle to use them that you're better off playing without them. In fact, it would have been better off to not even put them in the game and use the memory for other things. Cao Cao is a perfect example of such characters because he kicked ass in the 3rd part once he got his 4th weapon... in fact he was arguebly the best character in Musou mode with his 4th weapon equipped. In this 4th part however, he sucked like hell. His moves leave him wide open for attacks and his last charge up attack is toned down to where it comes out too damn slow to combo. He doesn't do that much damage either. Zhen Ji is another unlucky one to get toned down. I didn't think she was even among the most powerful warriors from part 3 so why mess up her skills by giving her slow speed and slow and weak moves?
The new seige weapons are not even controllable and most of the orbs are pretty useless. The ice orb was the only one I found to be useful... in fact it's the best orb in the game. Most of the special items that you can equip remained the same as they were in part 3 and your team mates and army are still pretty stupid (they just stand there most of the time and get their butts kicked by the enemy generals). The only time I found my army to be kicking ass is when there is only the main enemy general left in the stage, and then they surround him and beat his ass down.
The endings totally suck in this game as well. I liked the endings in part 3 better. The music was only okay... again part 3 had better music in most cases. Diao Chan's ending didn't make any sense to me according to her story. Why is she so happy and still siding with Dhong Zhuo in the end when it was her goal to overthrow him and Lu Bu because they've endangered her father? In other words, her ending is exactly the same as Dhong Zhuo's.
I could go on with all the negative things about this game but I've said enough. Overall, Dynasty Warriors 4 was only average at best and very repetitive. Please Koei, don't go the way that Capcom took with Street Fighter 2 and all the other "prequels and remixes" of that game.

The Best Dynasty Game Out There!!! |
| A gamer from Colorado, USA says (28/Jun/2003): |
I was worried at first if I would miss finding the weapons insted of leveling them up but the game is really THE BEST Dynasty game I've played. Yet I have only played 3, 3 Xtreme Legends, and 4 so for you who have played other ones, they might be better.
|
best one yet |
| Jake from Minnesota, USA says (27/Jun/2003): |
Im likin the new options!Create officer, endings, and a lot more!
Good Graphics! Lu Bu WAY stronger then before, weapons at levels is better. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes longer to defeat levels really fast otherwise it's a great game!
|
This game is like......awsome..... |
| Christopher Grenon from Rhode Island, USA says (26/Jun/2003): |
This game is great, I meen really....The graphics are awsome, the gameplay or whatever you call it is awsome, the weapon system is awsome, the duels are kinda good but the fact that the officers and generals block so much really really ticks me off.... The fact that I go on the all-out offensive and never block or parry, gets me seriously hacked up most of the time....Oh um, one more thing.... the archers and bow men and the crossbowmen really tick me off aswell.... They hit you 100% of the time and even when you are standing 6inches in front of them they still shoot you and it messes up your plans if you wanna do like a charge or one of those run-up attack thingies....they should at least make it so they miss alot and dont hit you as much....more like DW3.... Oh and another thing, for some reason every time i leave my bodyguards alone like at camp or at like a place where there is like no one, I'll come back about a second later and like 1/3 of each and every one of their life gauges is gone for no reason.... thatn needs to be worked on.... overall I give this game a 10 out 10.... You all should get it....
|
Not that fun of a game! |
| Luke Wags from Troy,Mi USA says (26/Jun/2003): |
I voted this game a 7 because in Dynasty Warriors3 you could have up to 4 weapons to pick from.In DW4 u get stuck with one. I admit the game has a little of better graphics then the other DW games but that's about it also just a few more levels then the other games. That's about it. I like the 3 new generals but they would be a lot better in DW3 u could see their other weapons that they have. If I could rate DW3 I would give it a 10.Finally, I hate the new music that they have for the new game's main menu. It really STINKS!
|
BEST ONE YET!!!!!! |
| Cassius from cleveland ohio, USA says (23/Jun/2003): |
I really enjoyed this game. I havent played dw3 xl but i hear its good also. The only thing the i did not like in this game was that the generals chased u around the map every, especially if your health was low. Also i did not like how you don't get new weapons you just raise then up that is kinda stupid. Overall its a very good game. I am hoping that they will come out with more of these amazing dynasty worrior games.....

Even if you hate everything, you will love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 |
| Matthew Anderson from USA, Maine says (22/Jun/2003): |
This game is so awesome. If i could give it a 50 i'd give it a 51. I'd also just like to say that I HATE LUBU. He's cheap and unfair. Other than that there is no flaw. The weapon system is great and they made it harder so you just can't go in and button mash and win. Buy it!!!!!
|
Greatest game I own!! |
| Mhead192 from New York,USA says (21/Jun/2003): |
I have loved playing this game from when i wake up in the morning until i go to sleep(if i go to sleep) Anyone who is interested in anything at all should immediately go out and buy this game.It is totally addictive and there is so much to do you just cant stop going. The weapon system is much like that of Onimusha warlords, with the same orb ideal. The graphics are great and the cinematics blow almost every other game out of the water...OUT OF THE WATER!! The sounds in this game are great also, and the only problem is that there is no blood, which can be improved upon. And I trust there will be another game. This game is definitely the best game that i own at the moment.

IM SURE IT WILL BE AMAZING ! |
| A gamer from UK says (20/Jun/2003): |
I have all the other dynasty warriors games and they have been all exelent. I am from the UK so it doesnt come out till later this mounth but i will get it straight away. I am permantley reading reviews and looking at screeenshots of the game and it looks amazing especially the siege weapons. Koei never go wrong with there titles and im sure this one is no exception.

W00TNESS!!!!! AWESOMENESS!!!! THE BEST!!!! |
| Just call me Lu Bu says (18/Jun/2003): |
This was THE BEST Dynasty warriors... EVER!!! The weapon system was great! The CAW (Create-A-Warrior) added a whole new twist to game playing, the maps were much better than DW2, in game events made it feel like you were actually fighting. There is strategy in this game, it is buton mashing like some retarded fighting games (*cough* Godzilla *cough*)You need to know who should be "iced" first, or if you should take out the gates, and costumizable(Sp?)bodyguards allowed you to have your friends (names at least) on the battlefield.
All in all this game is r0x0r!

DW4 is soooo cool |
| Lu Xun from SLC, Utah, USA says (17/Jun/2003): |
Dynasty warriors 4 is very fun and is hard to get bored from. I think it should be on the internet and be able to have a four player thing too.I think the wu is the best team and Lu Xun is a very good officer, I dont like Lu Bu because he is too strong and all my friends hate Lu Bu more than I do, so I think nobody should be Lu Bu. sorry to all you Lu Bu lovers. This game should also have a little blood, or at least on the movies. Hopefully there will be a expansion like DW# extreme legends or Dynasty WArriors 5. I would recemend this game to anyone who has a PS2.
|
best game |
| Dustin from Santa Cruz says (15/Jun/2003): |
I an a big fan of this game. There is only one problem. There is no blood. When you get hit with as sword or arrow you are gonna bleed. In the cinamatics when you kill an officore they should be bleeding. I hope the next one will have blood.

What more could you want? A free bag of doritos with the purchase maybe? |
| Lina from Aberdeen, USA says (11/Jun/2003): |
I had never played any games based on Romance of Three Kingdoms. Then I saw an ad in Animerica that changed that. This game is awesome! I'd recomend it to anyone! I see alot of 10 scores for the game. I TOTALLY agree.
Characters:11!
I think people such as these characters are quite an example of how people should think. Except for Cao Cao. For some reason he irks me, and people I know. And these people have personalities, which is something I don't see often.
Fighting:10
The only hole in it is that you can't run after enemy soldiers into the strongholds, so they always have a place to hide and taunt you.
Graphics:9
The graphics on this game irk me. Soldiers appear from nowhere and, maybe you've noticed, Zhou Yu must be a god among men, or something, because when he gets hit with that arrow, he just pulls it out and there's no blood on it or him. But other
than those two holes, the graphics are okeeday.
Sound:10
The soundtrack for this game is great, and I love the end theme, Cross Colors.
Funness:10
Just when I am about to get bored, lo and behold, some enemy officer challenges me to a duel. Heh. He's just asking for it.And then, there is the fact that there are good cutscenes.

Greatest game made, Yeah! |
| Eddie from Leavenworth, Ks. USA says (11/Jun/2003): |
Well I've played all 3 verisons and the 1st that was a fighting game and liked it, but when PS2 came out with its 2nd DW I rented it. I like the heros for there weapons and diffrent moves throughout the games, but in 4 I like the fact you can grab with some heros, but the maps are great and the controls are easy to learn, so in all the games are the best and keep them coming and I'll keep playing. LATER.

ONE HELL OF A GAME! |
| cloud from USA says (5/Jun/2003): |
I think this is the best gsme ever! I have from the origanal dynasty warrios game to 4. I think everyone would enjoy this game. The new weapon level up system is great and the orbs really cool. This is a kick ass game! I can't stop using gan ning. I think he is the best! So get this game.

The game is a winner that must be mastered |
| Michael Diaz from JerseyCity N.J. USA says (4/Jun/2003): |
All in all dynasty warriors series have always been a smash. This latest installment as taken the cake dough. There's alot to do in this game. The fact that you can choose what battles you wanna fight and which you dont is pretty cool. And the sequences of your actions in battles(either you fight them or not) will open up new levels and even what characters are avialable. The games weapon system is nice. You level up and watch as you become the king of the battle ground. Leveling up weapons is a privelegde to the avid player.( Gives a sense of Yeah Im the man!) Orbs now are aquireable to any character you choose.( No more picking Luxun for his vorparol attack. Now anybody can have that deadly art. Just equip it and walah)! As to graphics the game holds up nicely.( I do miss the glowing hands but its ok now i have a Steaming body). One player mode is even better because your allies will double up the offensive whenever you activate your musuo attack. Comes in very handy when your surrounded by relentless enemies. Just looking at your self and the computer working together is like a dream. Horses are much faster in this game. And if you have a saddle equipped then you wont lose your horse. Just pause and look at the map to see where you left him. The only thing I can complain about is the finding of orbs and the glitches. I mean the orbs are random. Your lucky if you find all of them on a level of 4 or up. And the game can glitch in a two player mode. Where the second player might not see the enemies or the life bars if both players have all their bodyguards and high stats when close to one another.(Yeah its a bumber but nothing is perfect). But on the upside it does look cool at times. This game is the kind that you must break in. Especially if your used to DW3. It has a different feel but hey dont most newer versions of games do. Just give it time and it will stick to you. Its very addictive and has much much more to offer than other dynasty warrior games. Must buy for fans of the series.
