It is really easy to earn the red hare harness and you have to think a lot to get through the game so you have to be smart.I compliment the makers of this game because they made it challenging.The best part about it is that you get to have fun and you are entertained. I liked this game because it was challenging and i hope you like it too! Everything in this game has strategy and my favorite charecter is SunShangXiang she is a tomboy just like me. Also warrior princesses are awesome. the graphics are really cool too. it actually shows the persons flexibility and actions. The sounds were great. They actually put the voices of people getting hurt and torchered. the lifespan showed greatly within the game,etc. The funfactor is another cool thing in this game, we all enjoy the game in my family. i hope there is a Dynasty Warriors 6 (i know there is a 5)The value of the game was percise i would say it matches into the game fully!! | this is great man | | Aaron from USA says (7/Apr/2005): | this is one of the best games i have ever played in a long time it took me about two weeks to beat (with my cosions help) the challeng is great being able to dual or have army against army that is one thing i really loved this game rocks!!!!!!! forty two playable charecters, there is a good dlitch i learned to play expert difficulty while the com is realy at novice what u do is start a game on expert kill about five enemies, save and exit the game change the difficulty to novice then start a new game kill about 5 or so mor enemies, do a spft reset bye pushing select and start at the same time, the load ur orriganel game. the computer will still think its on expert but will really be at novice level. i have goten almost every item and have all but the last sadell. extrem mode was a work of genius, although it could be better. how u ask? i will tell u it could be better by allowing you to be able to have the same states as your charecter did in legend mode or at least be able to use all the idems u have. there is also one other thing if you could keep the items you win in xtream mode for legend mode.
| hres a tip on the best dynasty game to date. | | scott sobie from streetsboro OH united states of america says (10/May/2005): | i think that this is the best dynasty game made and a secret i learned is that to beat lu bu it is best to run!!! no but i think beating lu bu in the beginning was hard but a tip is create your own guy. make it male. give it all armor exept give him a sash then make sure you give him the "great sword" then when you start the game. kill every yellow terban soldier that opposes you and run around get a whole bunch of them afrter you then use your mousu and level them all in one shot. then a message will come up saying go to the general DON'T! stay and make sure there isn't a single yellow terban left! have fun with it! keep on killing until you have 400 ko's then head up to the general and annihilate him! then do the same to all the levels and you will get A LOT of exp.and another thing to do is you can let the other people slowly defeat lu bu then go and clean him up. word of wisdom is never ever unless your a rank one general and have major skills take the lu bu challenge. he can regenerate his life so your always taking one step forward and like 5 steps back. so take this advice and go kick butt!!!!

TIP: dont let sun jain die but he wont just dont let any1 reach him and you'll be ok

Lu Bu stands no threat to me, zhuge liang sucks his fire attack at bo wan po sucked, i go w/ zhang fei, shu doesnt need a strtegist, the only threat to me is meng hou! if you go directly to his land, and kill him, you win the battle. my friend can not kill me in versus mode, hes always using Gan Ning, we started playing versus mode when i wanted to wipe out the Wu dyansty with one person, zhao yun!!! Koel you should make an online dynasty warriors, then people around the world can be beat by my prowess! It is weird how every unlock all characters cheats i get, they dont work. I hate this. (my hand hurts now) the only tv show i watch (maybe 2) is g4tv cheat. and Charmed. i eat hot cheetos with cream soda, it gets my hands worked up when i am fighting in dw4
| Repetative................... | | Chris from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England says (2/Aug/2006): | OK, this is upsetting, here you have a great, great series, I mean the original for the Playstation was unbeatable, then you have Dynasty Warriors 2 for the PS2, again, an absolutly stunning game. Then, Dynasty Warriors 3 which was slighty repetative, but with the inclusion of Bodyguard,Different Weapons, Things like that, and then you stumble upon this, DW4.
It's more or less the exact same, it looks the same, sounds the same, the voices are still terrible, and the action gets extremly repetative, extremly quickly. If you havn't played any of the previous games, then you can buy this, and you will enjoy it. However, if you've played DW 2/3 I suggest you rent this first, before you even consider buying it.
The Graphics are up to there usual quiality: 6/10
The Sound is the same, bland and annoying: 4/10
The Lifespane, as usual, if massive, with all the different characters to use, then the items to collect: 7/10
Gameplay, nothing new, well, nothing both new & exciting: 0/10
Overall: 4/10
Sadly, not the best outing for the DW series, and while were on this note (and I still need to fill up the Minium) I would however suggest DW5, somehow it's just much more enjoyable than DW4, it has that........X-Factor, the one unexplainable thing that makes it loveable.
| Hard getting past Hu Lao Gate because Lu Bu is there?? | | Keith Holmes from England says (17/Aug/2006): | All you have to do is kill the 2 officers from the north (were Shu are), south (were Wei are) and east (were Wu are). Then take one of the horses from the officers you kill and charge down to Hu Lao Gate. Then when the cut-scene comes on showing the ram destroying the gate charge in, and then another cut-scene will come on showing Lu Bu on Red Hare. Gallop past him and keep running in circles for a while, eventually he will head back to the gate. Then stay left of the gate and kill Diao Chan and head through the other gate to Luo Yang, you are sorted after that. Or you could do the same thing and lure Lu Bu to one of the Han Generals (Sun Jian, Cao Cao or Lui Bei) and they should take care of him!
P.s Hope my review helped folks plus; Dynasty Warriors kicks butt! It is an awesome game and every Dynast warriors that has come out is great. The graphics are really decent and i love that the game is really long to complete because it makes it better. I love the people when they get killed and they make the impressions thats really good. The fun factor on the game is really high because you can neve get bored of it. The speeches and people sound so original!

KILLING IS FUN | | Minh from MASS, usa says (20/Jan/2004): | This is got to be the best game ever.well.....i think DW3 is better in some way. this game is a blessing from god. the creater of this is brillient. if u watch the OC (a show on fox) u've seen the people playing DW4, as Xiahou Dun. it is the must addicting game i own and i own alot of good games, such as Vice City. if u haven't play Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 yet u should deffinetly check it out. Deffinetly worth your money. its like a drug it makes u come back for more. to bad its not Playable online. i would rule. kill all challagers crush all competiters.
But i dont have DW4 extreme legends yet. DW4 has much more than DW3, theres more missions, and charrecters, 3 and the only good one is Zhou Tai. Theres more items and now theres more saddles and orbs. the 10th weapons look good too. the graphic is a wow, but the gameplay is so so, not as good as DW3. the songs r better in 3. ther's more things to do in challage mode like brilge melle. best score i got was 130 kills on the brilge.

Lu Bu, Xu Zhu, and Guan Yu are strong. Don't be generals that you don't think you would like because you might get pissed off and go mad or crazy. The levels or acts may seem difficult, but you know that you and your general can defeat, unless he/she is weak, then ur screwed.

In other games, there are just like guy heros or main characters, but in this game, the girls could rule this game, but there are just little girl generals in this game. There are i think 7 girl generals, but they are still amazing.

The orbs and items are good.Could swear more like "Scum".In the encyclapedia mode,should add a timeline that goes in order of every event that happend.This will make it esier to understand the history.Other then those,the game is fantastic and every one with a ps2 or xbox should get it.KOEI,your the BEST!!!

I feel in love with DW3 when I first played it and as you can imagine, I loved 4 too, however it does have it's downsides as well as improvements.
Improvements:
1. The duels are amazing, a great idea and big improvement over DW3.
2. Stage progression, more realistic and more fun
3. Orbs - I like this idea of being able to, in part, customise your own weapon.
4. Video. The scenes and short movies in this game are fun and at the same time relevant - another great improvement.
Things I miss:
1. The weapons!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved the feeling of anticipation when I picked up a weapon crate in DW3. It might give me a large attack bonus as well as a speed boost. Or maybe it will increase my range and mounted attack. But in DW4 what do you have to look forward to............raising a weapon level. Thats it, no more great finds, or comparing the stats of two weapons as weapons no longer have stats. This is my single largest dissapointment wit DW4
2. Character creation - a waste of time and space on the disc. why not just leave fu xi and nu wa
3. English dubbing - DW3 felt so real as it is based on a real portion of chinese history with characters that looked, felt and SOUNDED chinese. I mean zhou yu - my favourite character now sounds like a fairy and sun ce like a surfer.
4. Bodyguard items - I'm picking now but I kinda liked this feature on DW3, it gave bodyguards another element of individuality.
So as you can see while DW4 has some clear advantages over it's former DW3, it also needs some tweaking. It's a shame KOEI don't combine the good from both games and create the ultimate DW experience......but then DW5 is on the way!
P.s. Do not face lu bu on hardest until your character is fully trainned up - he really is a legend.

And new items! Orbs are awsome! When I play this i feel like im in the game. Like the my title says...Worth every penny!

| Rent this game first! | | Misee from Sacramento, CA United States says (17/Jul/2003): | After being blown away by Dynasty Warriors 3's major improvement over part 2, I was left very disappointed with this 4th installment to the series. (I'm a girl but I play games with my boyfriend) Sure there are new things to it and all but it's all very similar to part 3. I was expecting a whole new lineup of characters with only a few returning veterans from the older games and a whole new storyline... but instead, Koei gives us another version of how part 3 should have been. The new characters are really just old warriors from part 3 that's been given a new look and added to the main characters lineup. What a bummer! Only one or two new moves? What the hell? No more option available to switch the horrible American voice acting to the better quality Japanese voices with subtitles like in part 3. Well, at least the American voices are a lot better than they were in part 3 (which was a total flop due to horrible acting), but they're still not done very well. If people are paying about $50 for a game, they expect good quality and fun right? Another thing is that many of the old characters are toned down to the point where they just suck. Cao Cao, Zhen Ji, and Guan Yu are perfect examples of this. I don't know why Koei decided to make these characters attack and move slower than they did in part 3. Zhen Ji wasn't even all that good of a warrior in the 3rd part so why mess with her abilities by weakening her? If anything, Lu Bu should have been toned down just a little because he's still super cheap in this game (I hate it when my boyfriend uses him in the versus mode). In fact, it seems like he's even more powerful this time around. I understand that he's suppose to be the mightiest warrior out there but come on... give Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi a chance! These two guys still suck like hell too! It kind of feels like Dynasty Warriors is heading down the same road that Street Fighter 2 did when Capcom made so many damn remixes of that game. Unless if you're new to the series or you're a die hard fan, rent this game first and decide from there.

First of all, it has very little improvements over DW3... Just 3 new characters and a few more levels don't add anything to the game. The new weapons system is lame too. You can't choose which weapon u want to use as in DW3 anymore. Weak. Sure, there are a few new moves and features... but thats about it... there is nothing revolutionary. Also, the biggest flaw is the AI and lack of stragety involved. Your allie AI is pretty decent but they still stand around too much. And the enemy AI, oh lord they are so stupid. They are fixed in certain locations throughout the battlefields and won't attack you unless u get in within 10 feet, how lame. The enemy AI no longer rush and attack together like in DW3 anymore. All you do throughout the whole game is attack one group of enemy while the others stand around and watch... when you beat them, you go on to the next group... pathetic. The enemy AI needs to be smarter, they need to attack together and reinforce each other like in DW3. The other thing is that Koei need to enable u to be able to command troups dependin on your rank... come on, u are a general for cryin out loud. You need to be able to command troops to follow u so you don't have to go alone and kill everyone by yourself. Its not a one-man army, your allie troops are there for a reason. Overall, DW4 is a big disappointment... theres really nothin drastically new... its the same old thing... Koei did not put any effort to revolutionize the game.
