when I heard Dynasty warriors 4 was out I was crazy with exitement I loved the other Dynasty warriors games.But they werent as good as this but anyway if you havent tried this then you have to rent it or buy it. so if you like dynasty warriors 1, 2, and 3 then you will really like this! but when you play I have to warn you if you arent that strong and you see Lu Bu RUN!!!! but if you have beaten the game then you should do free play and do a Lu Bu level and kill him I have so its not imposible. if you are Wei, then be Xiahou Dun if your Wu, be Sun Jian if you are Shu,Liu Bei. if you get them good you will thank me so I hope you enjoy the game now I gotta go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BYE

dynasty warriors 4 i cool in the way that you can make your own generals but its dumb that you cant add a story to your general and it has changed if you look at dynasty warriors 3 but the AI still is bad (the game is to easy even on hard after a while if you practice enough)and i also wonder how you could change the costumes

Some of the major issues/problems I had with the game are the lack of weapons, and graphics. In a way I like the new way of leveling up your weapon. However, I dont like the fact that the weapon doesnt change or you cant find a better weapon. I found that to be a very fun part of the game. Additionally, I dont like how far back the characters are now. It doesnt make me feel as "into" the game as I did in Dynasty Warriors 3. Other then these problems I have with the game, I think they did a great job of adding more to it.

This game rules. I've played DW3, but now that I'm playing DW4, it just doesn't stack up. The system is sweet, it's challenging, but the only annoying thing is those Damned Archers. Am I alone in thinking that the Archers are nothing more than annoying? Plus, in response to the review Arthritic with age, if you were really any good at the game, you would realize that when you unlock all of a person's costumes, the fifth outfit is their DW3 outfit. Personally, I like most of the new outfits, but some, like Zhou Yu, made a major mistake. I personally like Zhou Tai's third and fourth outfits. The only confirmed Japanese in the game, is actually wearing a Samurai/Ninja Styled Helmet/Facemask. It looks really cool. Personally, my favorite characters are Dian Wei and Huang Gai. I think I have too much fun throwing those bombs, though...

This game is the best game ever i was especting it because i had Dynasty Worriors 2 and 3 and the 4th one now. You have more levels, charecters and weapens in this game so its the best game ever.I was tothely surprised when i first time saw this game.The best Charecters are i think Zhou Yun,Lui Bei and Ma Chao.

The best game yet! Still needs to have the amount of enemies and swarming that was in DW3 XL!!! The best challenge is when you can't even see your player. I can't even choose who I like best in this game because they are all more fun with the new added moves and air attacks. I only think they are missing some of the items from XL like beast harness, musou armor. Only major complaint is when the map toggles to show events when it should only appear as a message not the exact location.

I bought DW3 after I saw it being played and was instantly addicted to the game. I got DW4 the day it came out and was only a little dissapointed with the game. I understand that changing the storyline from the original in the book would be hard, so I won't bitch about that, but there should be more of the sub-generals added into the face-general group. There are such generals as Cheng Pu,Han Dang,Liao Hua,Zhou Cang,Cao Hong, and Sima Zhao who are in many battles but remain the same. It also might help to have a blood option or a Kessen style control option added to the game. I can't argue with the graphics, but I agree with some other reviews about the possibility of having regiment of one or several types of fighter(maybe formed by you)and the different coloration of the troops of individual generals troops. DW4 had little originality, but that was partly because it could have had more battles without messing with the storyline of the ROTK. THe format of the game might also be changed to have missions within battles or have the map of China connected, allowing you to go around to different battles after getting orders and getiing attacked by bandits along the way or something. That would liven up the storyline and solve the battle problem at the same time. Maybe the possibility of being able to gain something in a battle that would allow you to learn new moves after the battle would help the game appeal to more people.

When I bought DW3 I thought It was the coolest game ever. Then when I bought DW4 I was very exited. But when I started my first mushou I discovered something horrible! It was in enlish!!I mean, in DW3 you had the option to hear it in either language, but here you have to suck it up and deal with those ugly-a** voice overs. For example, Diao Chan's voice in DW3 was so bueatufyl-like a bird song-but in DW4 she talks like a 50 year old woman.
And it doesn't stop there,every character in DW4 have ridiculusly ugly voices (exceptions--Zhen Ji, Zhuge Liang, and Yue Ying)I play only once in a while now (where when I had DW3, I played it non stop)It's a very big issue, look at Sun Ce--he's now a surfer dude when in DW3 he had such a great voice. Also, they made every character darker in skin tone, Zhou Yu is not recognisable! Zhang He looks not too far from a woman this time. And Pang Tong is as annoying as you can get, (I always let him die in the mushou so I don't have to hear him say "Good for You"
I really think that KOEI needs to give us back their Japanese voices, or at least, make the english voices a lot better. I feel very dissapointed at that. But whait, there's more, they said EVERY character returns to DW4--WRONG!! Fu Xi and Nu Wa were deliberately take OFF from DW4. I am aware you can create them in CAW but it doesn't replace the originals. It's a very direct way of saying "we don't care if they are even there" Plus, why should I have to create them and ocupy two CAW slot--wich there are only three--to make them.
Other than that, there are only a fiew movies from each Dynasty, and that's not to mention the Other's side. ONLY one movie for each--talk about saving money in production--In DW3 XL, the Others side had a lot more.
All in all, what they improved in technicallity and good visuals, they completly neglected in movies, Fu Xi and Nu Wa, and most importantly--their Unbelievably Horrible Voice Overs.

by the way my frends where so happy of how it came out i was not i mean it has so cool parts to it but i beat it in under 3 weeks its not very good :( but i did have some fun beating some levels but it was at all as cool as my frends where saying this is the first 1 i ever played and if the 123 where as bad i dont even want them. }:(

I was pleased when I heard that a fourth chapter to the Dynasty Warriors series was coming out but now that I've finally gotten my hands on it, I was left very disappointed. I understand that there are books about the story of the 3 KINGDOMS of CHINA, but come on! With part 2,3, and now 4 being very similar in gameplay, characters, and story line, I think the series need a new story written with new characters and only a few of the veterans returning. So what if there are books and this game is based upon those books. Running through the same story over and over again with each new version claiming to be the next chapter is boring and very stupid. Video game companies always tend to make their own story up after a series starts to get old, so why won't KOEI do that for Dynasty Warriors 5 if that ever comes out! It would have probably been better to just call part 3 and 4 "Dynasty Warriors 2: The Remix" or something like that because these two other parts are really just how part 2 should have been.
Besides the story and lack of new characters and moves, Lu Bu is still a monster of a man with long reach, great power, defense, and speed. The only thing that seems to suck about him is his musou attack which was always kind of hard to clear crowds with. I understand that he was considered the most powerful warrior ever during this time in China but come one Koei! Characters like Zhuge Liang, Sima Yi, and other people with very short reach, poor speed and power should be given a chance of some sort. For example, in the street fighter games, M. BISON and AKUMA are suppose to be powerful characters but even fighters like Zangief can stand a chance against them.
I was blown away with Dynasty Warriors 3 but, like I said before, without a new story and a whole new cast of characters along with more new moves instead of just 1 or 2, Dynasty Warriors 4 just didn't amaze me.

Fu Xi, and Na Wa are lost. The weapon point thing sucks. The character have bad voice. The movies sucks. Opening sucks. 10th weapon sucks. 11th weapon is almost impossible to get. Its horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new character are horrible except Zhou Tai. The element orb $#< remove me > at ! is horrible. Why cant the element be on the 10th or 11th weapon. The music is much worst then DW3. I wouldnt buy this if i were you. Its just absolutely horrible. Sun Ce and his pop is just dumb. A grown man dont call his dad pop especially in battle. If i was fighting him in real life and he called his dad pop in battle i'll probably break down laughing at him. Lu Bu is a pussy in this one cuz he's so easy to beat. I play hard mode and beat him easily with just a 9th lvl weapon. Meng Huo is still as slow as ever and Zhu Rong got an outfit change. What happen to her sexy outfit before. Dong Zhuo got too much stuff from Dian Chan. Feel sorry for her. Guan Yu is alrite in this one same with Zhao Yun. The other character are bad. What happen to Xiahou Dun's eyepatch. That makes him look ghetto and instead he use a cloth.

DW4 isn't that good, you start with 9 chars, and each act is 3 battles long, and it's to easy with buttons and stuff, the weapons system is stupid, the only good point is the speed for 30 secs thing, the game all around is mabye 2 stars, i would not recomend getting this game
