DW4 Fan! |
| Justin Ko from Oak Ridge,N.J.U.S.A. says (15/Oct/2004): |
Dynasty Warriors are really fun but a little complicated. For example Bo Wan Po in DW4.You have to lure enemies to traps.Koei games rock Kessen2,DW2,DW3,DW4 including the Xtreme Legeneds and thats all the Koei games I've see.Kessen2 roqs u get to use magic spells and skills.DW2 is almost the same as DW3.DW4 is awesome you get to duel and a lot of new maps, some new officers. Right now my cousin is playing Kesson2 killing all the troops. He used Iron Wall to block enemies magic.Wow he defeated andd officer and also made Xiahou Ba mad.I never played DW2 but has seen ppl play it.I have DW3 and all characters!DW4 I am still working on but just need some characters. My favoite guys and girls are Zhou Yu, Zhuge Liang, Sima Yi, Da Quio, Xiao Quio, Yue Ying, Zhao Yun, definety Lu Bu. I hope if they make DW5 when 1 person is defeated the other player can still play.....Well I hope you will play any of these games or any other games that were made from Koei!Any ppl who want to talk to me about more of Koei games please either msg me on aim, msn!

Awsome |
| Chin Myomaki from New York, USA says (24/Mar/2003): |
Dynasty Warriors has opened up a new world for me. DW4 is the best so far out of all the series. With all new maps, jades, weapons, and seige equipment. This game Rocks!! The graphics have been made even more sharper. Even though the fighting style has remained almost the same, there has been some major tweaks. First of all the brand new charge attacks(makes every character more unique)and the duel system (may fight oficers 1v1) make this game better than the rest.Lastly one of my favorite features is the officer edit mode(create and use new officers) All these features makes this game the best!

This game ROCKS! |

Nothing new here pass keep looking elsewhere |
| A gamer says (11/Apr/2003): |
I'm a big fan of this series but i was very dissapointed with the newest addition. The only thing thats changed are some minor changes to the way you fight, a choice on male or female b guards, a weird weapon exp system(totally dumb), new character models, and 13 new maps. Sounds cool but theres really no diff than extreme legends. O ya did i mention there are 3 diff characters.... 3! DW3 introduced like 20 new characters. Its still mindless button mashing , no stradegy at all. You win in the amount of time it takes you to run the length of the map and kill every officer. I mean come on theres nothing new at all. It took koei a year to come out with this?? First of all, the new moves(falling triangle attack, taunt, and jumping off horse) should of been put in extreme legends and then DW4 should have new fresh ideas. I can't believe the onlything you changed in the flow of the battle are different messages and destroyable towers. No extra combos its just a match to see who can hit the most buttons. Its still like DW2 where your trroops sux ballz and couldn't defend themselves. I was hoping that there would be something added to this game to actually make it interesting.

All in all better |
| A gamer says (15/Jul/2003): |
Dynasty Warriors 4 Is a major improvment on the previous versions. I mean ya gotta love that air attack. I could do that forever. Its also great that they decided to let you create your own people. Not that the people givin werent enough Zhoi tai is great! They made the Sun family awsome! Shu has a more depth history. Cao Cao and his Wei...well theyve always been awsome! YA one of the things I liked best was that it told the actural history..rather than tryin to guess and match. Somethings dont really make sense though..Like for Daio Chan is she was with Dong Zhou or what..Later on shes with LuBu but in the little glossary thing it says Dong adopted her and LuBu*shrug* Its great!

GREAT!!! |
| A gamer says (19/Jul/2003): |
The graphics, weapons, attacks, and charcter design is great. But, I don't like the way you have to get a horse. I liked that if you gain ranks you might get a horse in the previous one.The features like edit mode and challange mode are great. And there are so many characters to choose from. You will definately find a favourite( Mine is Zhou Tai). And the speacial combos look really cool! Also, I can't belive that I can't find any cheats.I won't take that off the rating because it makes the game more challenging.

A step up from three |
| Shadowsleet from Paisley, Scotland says (25/Jul/2003): |
I was expecting really big things from DY4, given that the third game in the series impressed me a great deal. Overall, I'd say the fourth game delivers. There's a vast improvement in almost every aspect of gameplay.
The graphics have taken a little step up, while the voice acting has improved dramatically (still a couple of turkeys here and there, but it's an improvement over the previous voice actors). The increased number of characters, story modes, and different costumes gives the game a great deal of replay value, as you'll take a long long time to unlock everything there is to get.
Although the AI is still a little ponderous...barely a level goes by where the enemy doesn't have some kind of ambush, trap, or other devious plot to through in your way...so they keep you on your toes well enough. The addition of seige engines adds another dimension, as you're forced to protect them or destroy them in order to advance your troops, or end having to take a harder route to your objective.
The only couple of gripes I have are the duel mode...I liked it at first, but by the end of things it's just not worthwhile. The time limit is far too tight to have any decent type of battle, and you're forced to simply try and rush your way to a win. Without the time limit, it would be much better...that, and since your opponent's power in increased to match your own, they really shouldn't be allowed to regenerate so quickly, making the time limit even worse.
The second gripe is the create mode...given that they were able to make six different outfits for each character, you'd think they'd have a few more 'parts' to create your person from...I've always loved create modes in any game, but this was just a trifle limited, both in character appearance, and in the weapons you could select (only a sword, spear, pike and a greatsword for a male, and rapier for a female). Overall though, it was a very nice touch, and if it's expanded to include a few more body parts in the next instalment, it would be awsome.
These are a couple of very minor blotches in what is, however, a few enjoyable game...I haven't slept for more than a few hours in three days because it's THAT hard to put down. And it looks like I'm in for a long haul yet...if you haven't bought it yet, do. It's well worth the price, and will keep your busy for a very long time.

Female DW 4 Player |
| Ying from Frankfurt, Germany says (9/Oct/2003): |
Am I the only one? Aren't there anymore females who shares same faszination for DW 4? Anyway, this game is more than awesome and I just can't stop playing. I don't dare to say, that's the best game ever, cause there'll be DW 5 or more. But in this moment I'm out of mind, just because Koei mastered to create a game in order to chinese History. And nobody could do that better! I know it, cause after all I'm chinese, too.

A Dynasty Of Games |
| Kamisah from Broome, Australia says (10/Oct/2003): |
Dynasty Warriors 4 has to be the best of them all!!!
There is no doubt that all the other Dynasty Warriors episodes were enjoyable, but Dynasty Warriors 4 just tops the list for any game I've ever played, it just puts the icing on the most delicious cake I've ever tasted. Koei really hit the jackpot with this game. My favourite characters are Da Quiao and Zhou Yun. Even the little short trailers are cool. The character costuming is breathtakingly creative and the music really adds that little something extra. I love absolutely everything about this game. It is so awesome i don't think i'll ever get sick of playing it. They should make more games like this!!! this game makes any other game look boring. It's practically impossible to get bored with this game, it's just one of those games where there is always something even better to achieve, whether it be raising every single character on the game, or finding a certain rare item or trying to achieve the 10th level weapon for every character on the game. I would like to personally congradulate Koei on a job well done, and perhaps even suggest they consider making a movie on this game. it would be an excellent film and i know that i certainly will enjoy it. May there be more great dynsty games to come, thanx Koei

Dynasty Warriors 4 is the best one yet! |
| Brandon from Buffalo Ny, USA says (28/Oct/2003): |
I have to say Dynasty Warriors 4 is very impressive compared to the others. I especially enjoyed the new combos and weapon upgrades, yet after playing it for a while seen things in four that displeased me compared to Dynasty Warriors 3. In the third game the I found the levels to be alot more complex and realistic. The ones in four may have better scenerios, but most of them appear gloomy and dull. The history that takes place in the 4th version is twisted around alot more too. For instance, three Sun Jian wasn't around for He Fei because he was dead and the replaced him with Sun Quan. One of the biggest upsets was the fact that they got rid of the Japanese dubbing, i mean for example, does anyone know what Zhao Yun says during his desperate musou attack? Is it like "Back Pack!" or something? Any ways, all in all Dynasty Warriors 4 was worth the buy and I it's gonna be even better when Xtreme Legends 4 comes out.

SWEET!!!!! |
| A gamer says (28/Oct/2003): |
This game is by far the best in the DW saga. Theres alot more battles in musou and more characters. The gameplay is awsome, the soldiers are harder, the officers are harder, and duel mode ROCKS. This is by far the best game I have ever played. The new weapon System is awsome and the horses are faster, especaily the red hare. I love the orbs and the new harnesses. I also love the officer edit, but it lacked selection, but that doesent matter all that much anyway. The only thing I was mildly dissapointed about was Lu Bu, he was hard, but not hard enough, though if you made him harder it would be ludicrous. Over all, I think this game is by far the best game to ever come into existance!!!!!

Zhang Fei rules |
| Zhang Fei from Barrow, England says (19/Nov/2003): |
This is the greatest game i have ever played. the graphics are super. When i first played it i thought 'wow' this is totally cool. I have every over Dynasty warriors game but this one makes the rest look really terrible. I think that the 2 player modes are awesome, i love charging through enemy lines with my younger brother. The only thing i don't like about this game is the voices, some of the things that the characters say are pretty silly. The lifespan on this game is huge, as once you've maxed out one character there is still another 40 odd to do, plus you have items and weapons to max out as well. The music during the battles is good and it makes you want to kill somebody. the game does have a very high fun factor as you can take on enemy soldiers and leave them dead on the floor, which i think is great fun. What i like best is the multiplayer, i love having another player to charge the enemy with you and cut some enemies down to size. The game has improved a lot from Dynasty Warriors 3 as you can now jump off your hose while running and there are new saddles to choose including an elephant. Dynasty Warriors 4 is a great game and is worth every penny you spend on it, and i say if you don't have this game you don't know what your missing.

Amazing and very original! |
| Blueknight from dubai says (27/Apr/2004): |
DW4..i really don't find words when it comes to this game.I loved it when i first played it.I started from DW3 and i still enjoy it.The game is absolutely fabulous.I always wished to have something in ps2 that deals with history.DW is one great find.Thanx to KOIE and team.Thumbs up for you!The character designing is great and also the cg is remarkable.I loved almost all the characters but Zhao yun stands the best.I used to watch my siblings play this game. But i had no idea what exactly the game was about. The chinese names seemed hard to remember and the relation between the characters puzzled me.But i came to know that the game provides a section called 'encyclopedia' which tells you about the characters(generals) based on history.Reading about these people was absolutely fun.i didn't know how an hour flipped from my hands. Now i don'thave any problem remembering their names.I know more about chinese history. Most wonderful of all facts is even the kid of age 4 knows their names. It is for the first time i came across a game which suites for all age groups.

One word Lu BU! |
| LU BU from China says (23/Jul/2004): |
After a long day at the office, its nice to come home to beat some serious a**. The game itself is amazingly difficult at in expert mode. I purchased the game last year for around 39 bucks(a bargin at the time!) It only depreciated to 30 bucks. So I decided to buy the Extreme Legends add on too. You can't rent that at blockbuster and I still haven't unlocked everything!!!
Buy this game!
Here's a Preview of Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires
Koei's Dynasty Warriors series--with its love affair with ancient Chinese warfare and those nigh-ungodly powerful heroes who blitzkrieg their way into history--has seen many incarnations over the years. Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires, the latest successor to the name, doesn't mess with the magic of the series' massive action battles, but this time around you'll have more to concern yourself with than simply taking to the battlefield and slicing your opposition to ribbons. The game is built around an all-new tactical system in its empire mode that's hung upon not only conquest but upon political alliances and strategic commitment of your forces as well as able management of resources. While the combat is still the meat and potatoes of the game, the new tactical element provides some interesting options. Check out some brand-new footage of the game on our media page and read on for further details.

Koei's best game ever! |
| A gamer from Plymouth, Minnesota, USA says (28/Mar/2003): |
I just bought DW4. The last one was good, yes, but the fourth is the greatest! My favorite new feature is the duel mode, where you can single out officers and take them out without any annoying enemy infantry clawing at your feet. The graphics are not much different, but they are still better. The three new characters are great. I also like how you can choose a different character for Musou mode on every level!! DW4 rocks!
