Great all around play!39601

D-Man from Connecticut, USA says (9/Mar/2004):
High Heat Baseball 2004 has great all around gameplay. Play play up to their averages and also in clutch situations. There are some flaws but not many. Looking forward to the 2005 version. Some of the rosters for this version are not up to date. Also, sometimes the roster gets a little screwed up in the season when you si, but thats about it. Thumbs Up!

I'm now in love with High Heat Baaseball!39328

Jacob I. from Atlantic City, NJ says (25/Feb/2004):
I'm currently the voice of Atlantic City Surf baseball, a Minor League Team here in New Jersey, and during the off-season I spend alot of time improving my call of the game. As a broadcaster and radio personality, you look for as many ways as you can to better yourself day by day. I've been using simulated baseball games for a number of years now and must say that High Heat Baseball as of today, brings all the real life action into my home. I basically do a fantasy draft and let the computer play the computer while I broadcast the season. I listen to my recordings and must say that it sounds very real! High Heat Baseball has helped me in my play-by-play and I look forward to the new High Heat coming out soon. I'm 25 years of age, played three years of baseball at San Diego State, and love my job! High Heat is more then a game, it's a teacher.

Best Baseball game ever....32788

Avalon1178 from San Diego, CA says (1/Oct/2003):
First of all, to Cody from USA who posted on (13/Aug/2003). With all due respect, I'm not sure what game you actually played, because this game has one of the best angles in the game(you can change the angles as well if you don't like the default...but I personally like the default because the perspective is so realistic). Also, the game is easy if the difficulty level is set to Pro (which is the default setting the first time you play it). Try switching the level to MVP or HallOfFame and see if you can hit a homer as well. The beauty of this game is that its very realistic...to hit a clean line drive, you have to depend on your timing of your hits. I like the fact that there's no annoying batting cursors on the game which makes the gameplay even more realistic. Speaking of line drives, the animation when you hit one down the gap is pretty cool too.

The AI is pretty awesome as well....pitchers are smart enough to throw you a changeup, a ball down and away depending on your counts etc (unless your difficulty level is set to Rookie or Pro). Anyway, I can go on and on with this game, but this has been the most realistic game ever out there

Of course, this game does have its quirks. For one thing, it has TONS of bugs!!!! Some of them tolerable though....

High Heat.....YEAH RIGHT! Try cold ashes!29966

Cody from USA says (13/Aug/2003):
This game is without a doubt the worst baseball game i have ever played. The screenshots of the game are misleading. They don't look like that at all in the game. The camera angles are the worst of any game i have ever played, no joke. The game is so easy, everytime you hit the ball it's a homer or out (pop fly). DO NOT BUT OR RENT THIS GAME, ITS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!! Try MVP Baseball 2003. It's way better, and I am sure there are many more better the High Heat 2004. It sucks.

A Pretty Good Game28790

Shane from Eddystone PA,USA says (28/Jul/2003):
I like the game,i do have a few problems.Like when u bring in a reliever they just appear.I don't like that they don't have the other stadium that the expos play in in San Jaun. Some things i do like are the Minor League Systems i would have liked it better if they named the Minor league teams.I also like how when a player gets injured they act like there hurt unlike other games.

It Could be better......26197

David H. from North Dakota, USA says (24/Jun/2003):
High Heat 04 is a prospectable game. the graphics are a lot better then other games, and play is realistic. the only think i don't like were the create a player. its not a create, its change a player to something else. The only other thing is i would of liked the outfielders to be able to move into the gaps faster........... but i felt they could of put a little more work into it.. o yeah, and i couldn't find anything to call to the bull pen. the computer does, but all you do is switch them, and they appear on the mound without any annoucement.

Good but definitely not Great25829

Nathan Fanklin takes it in the ass from Wilmington, NC says (20/Jun/2003):
I've played many games on the market and this one is very good but not the best. The create a player option is limited to very few options you have to make your player original both in skills and in looks. The franchise mode is good except for a few flaws like when my star player suddenly disapears off all my rosters but is still on my payroll. The game play is good but the parts where they zoom in on fly balls and throws to second are annoying and useless. It would be ok if the graphics were able to pull this off but when they zoom in the faces are blurred and the rest of the body is somewhat square. The batting part is not that good. They tried to make easy by not having you aim your swing exactly but if the pithc is high you still have to be able push up to aim your swing which is ok except against pitchers with breaking balls. Overall this is a good game but i would try it first before i would uy it.

The Best Baseball game ever!!!25157

Steven from Georgia says (10/Jun/2003):
This to me is the best ever game. I mean if you want to buy it go ahead it is by far the best game ever. The reason I didnt give a 10 because the create a player option were very poorly done!!! But the graphics and the sound boosted it from an 6 to a 9. If it weren't for the awesome graphics I would never of bought this game in the first place. I am very Very VERY glad that I posted this. So if anybody else wants to buy it read mine it will make u buy it. If you want to find cheats for this game FORGET IT. THE CHEATS ARE HORRIBLE!!!! And there is like NONE at all at any sites I have looked at.
Fun Factor: 10
Graphics: 9
Gameplay: 10
So overall I gave it a 9 out of 10. I dont think it will get any better than this until they make High Heat Baseball 2005. And when it comes out I will definatley buy it.

I'm a former player and this game gives the best game feel22447

Bryon G says (28/Apr/2003):
I played minor league ball for 4 years and got a couple of call-ups so I know how the real game really goes, and this game mirrors that better than any other I have ever played. I've played every baseball game on the market for the past 5-6 years, on most consoles, and this game is by far and away the best overall. The graphics may not be as good as, let's say, ASB series, but gameplay is the best. I could really care less about the looks as long as they are not complete garbage. Totally gets my recomendation

Less Filling22052

Hayzeus from Chicago says (23/Apr/2003):
While the graphics are now equal to other games on the market, and the gameplay is the most realistic yet, there are a few things that leave a bad taste in your mouth when all is said and done. Frequent freezing on the PS2 version are frustrating and cause you to play a 192 games with the replays. Bad angles on fielding and mystery runs scored by the runner on third even after you record the 3rd out, also add to misery. Yes, with the code for ball cannon, you can go and edit the score, but being one who plays to watch the stats, it sucks. The score changes but when thats the only run you give up and your pitcher still gets a loss and loses a shutout, it's little consolation. I also do not like how when you get to the second season, you don't get year 2 states, it's a cumulative total for career mode. So in game 1 of year 2, my players stats are .312 avg, 43 homers, and 123 rbis. I want to see what he's doing this year, not all together. In all, it hurts to say this as I have always been a HIgh Heat fan, but I feel there's better games out there. Yes, the 3 minor levels are a nice touch, but who is Gary Tabaka, and why is he my AAA star, I want to see Erik Almonte ripping up my minors, not some made up player.

Still not there yet!21897

James Heuss from Margate, Florida says (21/Apr/2003):
High Heat has come a long way and is now a respectable game. However until the graphics come along and the game is made a little less simplistic it will not be a top tier game. What does make the game very realistic is the pitching. The fatigue is very lifelike and the ability to throw a strike is not as easy as one might think. Especially late in the game. Overall it is an 8 because the game is not there yet.

This Could Be the Best Baseball Game On The Market!!21624

Joe from Stony Point,U.S.A says (18/Apr/2003):
The other day I was playing as the Yankees And I Smashed the ball a good 400 feet but as it went over the wall the left feilder jumped up and grabbed it, it was incredible! I tell ya if you can't make a dission make High Heat Baseball 2004 your best choice ever. The graphics are great and the sound are to. In my appion it should be ratted second after Vice City. This game may take a little while to get use to hitting and feilding but you can use batting practice and Home Run Derby to help you. Remember to buy this game or don't buy anthing!

The best baseball game I have ever played.21566

Nick Stevens from Virginia says (17/Apr/2003):
High heat is possibly the best baseball game I have ever played. I played All-Star for the past 2 years and thought it was the most realistic but when i tried High heat, I was forced to change my mind. The graphics are awesome, you can change every single aspect to the way you want the game to be played. The complete minor league system is what i have been waiting for for years. I love to bring up the rookies and just mess around with the minor leagues. The franchise mode is also very awesome. I think the weaakest part is the stats, the annoucers are fine to me, just because this is the first time i have tried the game. All i know is that High Heat will be the game i will be playing from now on.

Very good, but a little disapointed19950

SUPASTAR from USA Baby! says (26/Mar/2003):
The graffics are great and I love the seasonal play. The created player options are really weak. I created a player that was 300lbs. and they made him look like a frik'n stick figure! Also no knee highs with a created player, what up with that. Over all the game is very good, just being a little pickey. I also noticed that theanoucers are saying the same things as they said last year (Thats really weak) I can't believe that in a year they couldn't get a new voice over C'mon.

The Best?19012

Mike Stone from Chicagoish, Illinois says (10/Mar/2003):
I have always loved the High Heat franchise. Once again, 3DO delivers a great game, I think. I got my version about a week before most stores were selling it, and it's really buggy. My PS2 makes a weird grinding noise, it freezes when I navigate the menu, etc. However, I did get to play the game, and it is great. No, it's not the prettiest game in the baseball world, but man is it fun! The batting interface is far-and-away the best. It's exactly the way baseball was meant to be played. Waiting for a 2-0 hanging curve to come right down the middle is a great experience. And that's exactly what the hitting game is about. Picking your spots. I loved to swing at the first pitch, EVERY time. I learned quickly, however, that's not the way to go. You'll learn. The fielding is a also fun. From running down a fly, to turning a double-play, to taking away Barry Bonds' horerun Torri Hunter style, fielding has rarley been this fun. Pitching is also faithfully recreated. You don't always hit your spots, and when you don't the other team will make you pay. But, throwing a 1-hitter makes you feel like you really accomplished something. The franchise mode is a huge improvement over last year, since there wasn't one. You get to control the Minor leagues from AAA to A. However, managing them can be a little confusing at times, but nothing to take away from the fun factor. Also, you can play through unlimited seasons (I'm still on my first one), which is really cool. Playing for a Hall of Fame spot has never been more fun. This game isn't all roses, though. As I said, it's not the prettiest game in the world. And the camera gets too tight sometimes on fielding plays, causing the ball to go right past you. There are some other glitches in the game, that don't neccesarily take away anything from the game, they are really annoying. Note to players: If you have a buggy copy like I do, make your moves very slowly when navigating any menu. Too many button presses too fast will freeze the game! If it does freeze on you, I hope you saved the last 6 hours of frickin' gamplay!!! Overall, the best PS2 baseball on the market.

Good but can it beat the rest?18252

Juan Deynes from indiana,USA says (25/Feb/2003):
High heat 2004 is one of the best PS2 baseball gamesin a while. I know what youre probably saying to yourself right now,(It cant beat the rest. The people that are saying that are probably right but, it doesnt mean that it is not a great game. The graphics are pretty good if not great. The only flaw the graphics have is that the players faces arent very distinguishable and are really quite blury. ever the less it has pretty flawless graphics. The sound, The sound of the game is its weakest part. Between the fading in and out crowd and the players voices. The announcers though are pretty good and not repetative. Gameplay, the gameplay is very good though I am not a fan of having the X button do all the work dive, throw, jump, swing, etc..., but The devlopers make it work. I think I will be playing it all baseball season. One thing that does bother me about the game is that the rosters are alittle inaqurate but thats nothing I cant fix myself. All in all I think that High Heat Baseball is the best of the year so far and unless the rest can do some pretty unbeliavable stuff I think THIS IS THE WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
