Good For Player vs Player, But Not So Good For Solo Play |
| Matt from Torrance, USA says (19/Mar/2005): |
I just played pride fc for the 1st time today and wanted to see what others thought. I guess I am not alone in my opnion, this game is good if you and your friends just wanna have some fun and fight each other, but when it comes to playing solo, it lacks in many ways. There is no carrer mode, the longest tournament only gets u like 4 fights. And for me normal is a joke but then you got to hard and I cant hardly stay in the mount or get a tap out. And what good it making your own fighter if you cant make him improve in skills. The grappling is awesome, but stand up fighting needs some works. So once again if you and your friends wanna play a fighting game with no guns, or super charged moves, I definitly recommend this game, but if you looking for a good fighting game to get into solo, keep looking.

Finally a Game for True fighting fans! |
| Dave from Hack, NJ says (6/Jul/2003): |
Well I bought UFC: Throwdown about 2 years back and was terriby dissapointed. When I began following Pride I saw the enormous potential for the first really good MMA fighting game. When they made this game, for the most part they were right on the money! All the moves are realistic, you can watch movies for all the fighters in the game and the create a fighter mode is perfect except for the lack of a career mode. If your wondering why fghters like Tank Abbot or Tito Ortiz aren't in this game its becuase Pride is a real Japaneese tournament and those guys never fought in Pride, they fight in UFC (by the way, Tank would be murdered in Pride). So if u want a game u can play with friends for hours or you are a true fighting fan, pick up Pride FC, you won't be disapointed

why no advance of strengths? |
| buffed josh from north carolina, usa says (24/Jun/2003): |
what i hate about this game is the fact that you cant build up your strengths. u have a limited amount to place in striking, mount pounding, kicking, submission, endurance, and takedown, i think that as long as u having a winning streak, u should gain more icons to place in these strengths, and the computer itself, that would be more interesting if so. other than that the graphics and the moves are good.
|
it is a good game but how can you unlock people?i wanna know that. |
| Mike from Ny says (20/Jun/2003): |
you can make your charcter thats great but what do you do after that?there is no tank abbot, chuck lidell.they could not even put in the champion ortiz.it would be nice if you can unlock them for a suprise.you cant even work your guy up to be champion instead of a 10 minute tournament.

Real |
| D Blak from Trenton, Nj says (27/Mar/2003): |
I really enjoyed this game for the simple fact that it is darn near REAL. No special guns, powers, or icons. In one corner you have with strenghts and weaknesses same for the other corner. The create a man is awsome. Listen to me folks take it from a man who has played the best and worst of games (Im a master), this game is dope. Oh yes I really love how the blood squirts on the camera lens when u tangle up on the mat. BLOOOOODD

dont half way do something its insulting to real gamers |
| The One from las vegas, Nevada says (8/Mar/2003): |
this game had the right idea when its graphics and gameplay were improved over ufc but they stopped and released the game unfinished. The thing missing is RECORDS at least user stats you fight for nothing in all modes. There is a great create a player mode for what? You dont build your man up through matches , I havent unlocked any items or characters from beating it with my created player and it doesnt even have user stats (wins, loses, knockouts, tapouts). whats worst than a bad game, a great game engine ruined by the company trying to push the product out before it was completed. What a waste.......wasted 3 hrs created a player for 10 minutes of fighting.

this game was HORRIBLE! |
| A2D from Fort Lauderdale, FL. says (6/Mar/2003): |
I am a rather enthused MMA/UFC/KOTC fan. A while back, I rented "UFC: Throwdown". I thought that game was the worst fighting style game I have ever played. Man was I wrong. This game, Pride FC was absolutely hands down the worst game ever. Granted, the graphics are great, But A)there is NO CHALLENGE whatsoever, B)there is a severe lacking of maneuvers that are somewhat EASY to execute, and C) there is no REAL tournament feature or storyline, which makes this game lack overall entertainment value. I guess I will be sticking to my THQ's "WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth" as my favorite wrestling/mma game on the market right now.

Excellent Graphics and Movement...BUT a little simple... |
| Sandy from Lodi New Jersey says (23/Feb/2003): |
Pride FC resembles UFC in alot of ways but the graphics and technique choices BLOW UFC away. The choices you have regarding the moves list is literally HURENDOUS, ranging from STANDING right on down to GAURD BOTTOM! The controls are easy..and the combos seem to flow (regardless of how YOU chain them together). There ARE however a few things I was disappointed about though. First, your strengths/weakness bars seem NOT to matter THAT much, where UFC..and other titles, if you (for instance) have a low "GRAPPLING" bar..it can mean a win or loss VERY quickly! That can be a little frustrating ONLY because it seems to take a VERY long time to complete a character you are creating. Now, YOU have "painstakingly" worked out EVERY move...chained ALL the combos..and chose even what SHOES your fighter wears- only to see that YOU can get knocked out by Royce Gracie as easy as if you were up against Big Daddy Goodrich! Dont get me wrong: im not saying it makes NO difference, but the COM. fighters really differ MUCH more than you in there strengths/weaknesses. But besides that, and the fact that there are NO REAL challenge stages other than SURVIVAL or MATCH, the play is fun and not to difficult!

A must have for true fight fan |
| King Triangle from Lancaster, ca says (16/Feb/2003): |
I was nervous when i bought this game, thinknig that it possibly couldn't replicate what mma was about....But let me tell you, it rocks! No projectiles, or flying moves, just plain straight up combat! All the fighters look, move, and fight like their real life counterparts. Their specialty moves are there, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Forget about button mashing, you will just end up getting tapped out! The controls are simple, so it's easy to learn the skills of your fighter. For this game, you will have to get used to using distance, timing and strategy to deafeat your opponnet. The intros are very elaborate as the fighters walk to the ring. The stand up fighting is not as smooth as a game like virtual fighter 4, but it works. Where this game really leaves other games in the dust is with the grappling moves. The grappling is really smooth, as so the reversals. My problem with this game is the sound effects, when the fighters get hit, it sounds like firecrackers exploding which is annoying during a long fight. Also, a better combo system for the stand up fighting could have been a nicer touch, giving you a chance to string punches and kick together. The create a fighter is really really cool, giving you many options to create a custom fighter. The Graphics are smooth, yet the backgrounds could have been touched up. After you master your fighter and beat everyone else, the real fun comes when you fight against another human using your custom fighters. If you have an urge for a realistic fighting game, this is it.
