Yo, This game Is Whack! | | BradTheWorst from Luanda, Angola says (24/Oct/2004): | I don't know why most of the people call this game a great game. Dude, this game is whack. Look, the dunks look like that Mega Drive arcade basket ball game, i don't remember quite well, it was something like Slam 96, remember that? Where players jump like a photo (lack of motion concept) and then slam. Man, the graphics in this game aren't quite well, black players shine like they were on oil the whole week when there's sun, and the motion, oh God, what a crap, long time i don't see this "kind" of games.
I know you expected more words for me, but i won't even take so much time for this game's review, i'll just try to explain to you why this game isn't so good at all:
_Graphics_
The average 3D graphics, but not greater than official NBA games graphics. But sometimes, remember Dragon Ball Budokai 2? Yeah, sometimes the graphics just sound like that, "Cartoon-3D". More effort should be spent on almost all the natural environments.
_Sounds_
Not a so great soundtrack, most of them don't have voices, and is the thing that makes this game a bit cool, you make a dunk and then the whack replay goes instrumental, and there's the guy talking, a plus for humor, what means fun.
_Gameplay_
You buy tricks, dunks, full clothes (that means you don't edit for real, just choose some street outfit for you, some face for you, some hair, and you're done, it's you, yeah..., and also you can't even specify a correct height for you, you just choose between 4 variations of size, and also if you're athletic or sound like a fatty guy). And then you also buy stat points, what makes you a greater baller. Just take your time... bwahhhhh... The game also lacks on options and features, there should more into it. And they call this NBA rpg, lol, i rather hold my WWE Smackdown Shut Your Mouth and my WWE Smackdown Here Comes the Pain dreaming about that as well (To buy tricks eh?)

Arght, with that stupid motion? The only reason i bought this game is because of the stunning tricks and the ability to play with women, but with the "ant-world atmosphere" of the game both features get down, women moving sound like ants, and even the boys, they don't feel like real players, they don't have cool reactions at all, so my big mistake was to buy this game, maybe most of the people are NBA freaks that's why they like this game, most of the americans do (no offence!). But, even if you're just a NBA lover you could take more advantage buying some official NBA game, something like NBA 2003 (Now i do regret why i made i trade w/ it), NBA 2004 etc, but if you want to feel the dunks etc, then buy NBA 2003, just look for the advantages:
- You'll have the complete players, in this game there are only a few ones from NBA.
- NBA 2003 allows you to play outdoors too, with normal clothes.
- Since this game lacks on motion, even if has more dunks and moves on NBA 2003 you'll see dunks not looking sticky, and while they say this game has visual effects let me tell you that's bulls**t, there aren't cool visual effects, there's a stupid fighting game like replay when you do a great shot, etc, only to show to you how bad the motion is and you probably cut the replay a lot. On NBA 2003 you'll hear roars while dunking, it has the perfect slowmo with blur, and with the correct character motion!!
- While this game could be cool with girls, it isn't. You won't enjoy them behaving like ants. She does a great shot or a great dunk and then turns in less than 1 sec like if nothing happened, running like a fool who doesn't knows what's happenin' around. Isn't that dumb? So, suit yourself playing with the official NBA's players of some year's NBA game, they at least have the correct motion!!
- While this game could be cool with a lot of AND1 moves, crossovers, etc, it still LACKS ON MOTION! So, in the ads and vids you probably can be amazed cause they just show to you one trick flowing, the trick animation itself is good. Ok, but when the trick move ends? and then when you continue running and you throw the ball to the basket? You're a complete toy right there! And you won't see that on the ads...
You got it. What i'm gonna do? I'll exchange this game with a Xbox Controller S, and enjoy Dead or Alive 3 and Halo with my friends for three, plus a PS2 memory card. But if you're a NBA freak, or crappy games freak, then that won't do. Maybe you'll still prefer your lovely game or will want to experience some lil freaky moves with funky comic's like motion. That's why you see even some of the game lovers saying the lifespan of this game isn't great, when you finish "Be a Legend" you'll even rather play Driv3r...

Fifteen courts with enough legends and cool moves to make your head spin, with the added bonus of a crazy announcer. As if that wasnt enough you get todays stars and in the be legend mode some crazy hometown players like Dime,Stretch,Little Biggy,Osmosis,Whitewater,and the king of them all Bonifide.But lets get down to bussiness.
Graphics 8- personelly I dont really pay attention to the graphics.All I want to do is have fun so if thats why you give this game a lower rating then your crazy. Sound 10-a GREAT SOUNTRACK with urban rapping that goes great with the games urban setting. Gameplay 10- another awsome aspect of this game. Tons of insane moves like "off da heezay" where you bounce it off the guards head. Or thers "back to papa" where you take the ball and pass it to your gaurds off the backboard. Oh and the gamebreakers are sweat especially the level 2s, I did one that was worth a million.three words,gameplay is awsome.funfactor 10- This game is awsomley fun it will keep you hooked for our a day with gettin the milestones and all the sidequests and and endless fun with your friends on multiplayer. originality 10- I dont think there is anything more original. I shouldnt even have to answer this. value unlimited- This game is impossible to get bord of. I would pay 100$ for this. Its pricless.
I reccommend this game to anyone and everyone. But some advise,never start off the game the first time your playing and do Mad Game the medium level,always start out with Got Game,the easiest level. The reason I say this is because there is a huge gap between the two. And the Lengendary mode the last level is almost impossible. If you dont have this baby on your shelf yet and buy it. Oh and my grade is really a 9.9.

I really love the Idea of Nicknames, since this was the first game to make you EARN the nickname. Also, there are so much moves, it will overwhelm you. Also play with(or against) 25 NBA legends; Dr.J, Magic Johnson, Chocolate Thunder, M.J. just to name the few. oh yea, by the way you dont only get 1 M.J. not 2, but 3 M.J.! make yourself all Jordam team, it's pretty sweet. also, get extra Street Legends EA created. And(Yup i ain't done) 5 players from each NBA TEAMS. In addition(MUHAHAHA!!!!!) Get Just Blaze, Nelly and St. Lunatics, and how can you forget my fav, Babbito Garcia. Oh yea, speaking of Babbito, he is the only announcer on PS2 who will actually make you laugh. also, you can play on all the legendary courts, Rucker, Cage, Lincon, and the list goes on. And this game has the Best Musics.
Con- If there is anything I learned in life, that is that Nothing is perfect. I really think that EA should have let us choose the number of players on court. Also, for some reason this game only recorgnizes the 1P memory card. which is very disappointing because i always wanted to play against my friend's created team. Also, this game can and does get repetitive.
Final Thoughts- Even though this games has somethings to fix, it really is a great game, very original and even though you don't like basketball games, you WILL like this one, and it is worth a rent.

The create your baller mode is tight! My favorite part is being the old time legend ballers. I love to be Dr. J, Bird, and Wilt the Stilt. Dr. J can dunk like crazy, Bird cant miss 3's and the Stilt well hes the big time blocker! The soundtrack is great! The graphics are so real! The gameplay is better than ever! There is no comparison between this and NBA Street (the first one). I thought the first one was good, but when i got this i said there are too many better qualities to this game than the other. There is just absolutely no comparison at all!!! I especially love the moves back to papa, off the heazey, slip-n-slide, and fro fake. The dunks I love are Jordan, Stretch, Bonafide, Nique, and Dr. J's. This game u will not and I repeat will not play 1 game and say o I want to take break! This game will make u play 10 or 15 games before u say I need a break and then play it again. One more thing that I forgot to mention. These graphics they show here are awesome they show people dancing which i think is a plus for this game. the sound of it is so good especially the introduction song. i think this game is the funnest basketball game i played yet and it is as original as it is in the streets. To tell the truth this game is worth $69.99 which i would pay for this game. i see my self 5 years later still having fun with this game. newflash this game has been a success since it came out. my friends come over every day just to play this magnificent game. the truth is that we are addicted to this game.

The next day I bought it, and since then havent put the controller down. I have'nt managed to unlock everything yet, but the gameplay is the greatest I ever played with a basketball game. Usally a B-Ball game plays bulky, but not this one..fast pasted action that never stops, the moves, spins, ankle-breakers, blocks, dunks and gamebreakers are consistant. I gave it a 9, the one point I didnt give is for not having enough music. I wish they added more to the soundtrack. The announcers had us busted up a few times, and it added to the IN YOUR FACE PLAY this game consisantly gives anyone who picks up the controller. When my friend stopped by, he learned most of the art during the first game, but I still put a whippin on em, and on everyone else who wanted to test my method, this weekend I did one thing...and I am a 27 year old man...with a busy life...but this weekend I was busy with da game...my girlfriend can wait!

I think the best center on this game is Yao Ming. 7'6 of brutality and he can shoot the ball and take it to the hole whenever he need to. Jason Kidd is da bomb on this game. Shoot,dunk,steal the ball from you in a second,cross you up and slam it on your tail.The legends on this are what they actually where in their time.Julius Erving,Magic Johnson,Pistol Pete Maravich,Bill Walton,Wilt Chamberlain,Dominique Wilkins,Michael Jordan,Elgin Baylor and a whole lot more. I played the first game for the first time not too long ago, and I immediately picked up the second. The soundtrack for this game is better than the first one, the graphics are a lot better than the first one, and the addition of the level 2 gamebreaker makes it a hell of a lot better than the first one. I give it a nine, because I have one question: How can you not include Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon in the NBA Legends, but put Clyde Drexler? Hakeem made the official list of the 50 greatest basketball players ever, and is arguably one of the best centers to ever play the game, but they left him out completely? Why is that? Making your own character with the Rockets' red and gold from the 90's would have been the best part of the game. Hopefully they'll make another one and correct their mistake.

This game captured alot of the urban feel to it In the graphics and that is not very easy to do.
People say the sound is wack but tha game is good. If you say that then you do not want tha full street experience. Hip hop is the sound of the streets. Like it or love it, the makers knew that hip hop was the soud it needed why? well...why else? cause its the voice of street ball.
Game play is on point. Every move is incredibly fun. Just like in real street ball. But again, people say "well this aint like real street ball"..my answer to that is, of course its not. its a frieken video game. Putting unrealistic moves and combos is what video games are all about, why? because its funner.(period)

And when i was on da Be a legend Mode, i only got to 440 and thats it, but then sum1 told me u have to play the rucker park tourney again to get the 10 extra points, then u go to the old rucker park. But then my memory card lost all da data, so i had to start all ova again, so its all good tho. But i would give this game a 1000000000000000000000 on da ricther scale. NBA Street Vol 2 has easy-to-learn controls and is very fun to play. There are many awesome moves you can do like "Off The Heezay." This is a move where you bounce the ball of one of your opponent's head. Another cool thing about this game is that there are some neat things that you can unlock, such as the St. Lunatics team, which consists of Nelly. If you alwasy get confused by the controls of other NBA games, then you should get this game because it has really easy controls which can be learned in only about a half an hour with a special lesson where you can learn all the controls. I think that every basketball game fan should own a copy of NBA Street Vol 2.

Since I got the game it's been non stop streets. gambreaker 2 is nice add to the flavor, the dunks and dribbles make you want to slap ya own momma. the signature moves are bananas, and the last thing i want to say is that if you don't have this game buy the time you see the period i will be at your door step. THA U.S.A.!! says (6/Apr/2003): | This game beautifully blends arcade ball and pure basketball for the most rich gaming experience to hit consoles in a long time. The NBA legends add a newer level of depth and gives you even more things to unlock (next to the better than sweet Mitchell & Ness Jerseys). NBA Street was a legend in its own when it first came out in 2001. Now Volume 2 takes Street's faults and improves them, and takes Street's pro's and makes them even better. I havent had a better experience with a controller since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. One tidbit of advice: BUY THIS GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT! You wont be dissapointed.

I did not see anything wrong with the game and it was a very exciting game to play, especially with frinds. The graphics r great and the commentator actually sais more than 5 lines. I am a big basket ball fan and this game really toped of many of the NBA games that I played. Street 1 was a legendary game to play and I had that game for more than a year and a half and I still dont get tired of it and Street 2 is not left behind at all. This has been the best basket ball game that I have played for the ps2. This game needs no improvement except for faster game play like Street 1.
