Best Baseball game , but still needs work!!!!! |
| Anthony from Long Island , NY USA says (2/Apr/2003): |
O.K. So far ASB '04 is the best baseball game out now.But it does have some flaws. For starters , there isn't a way to make your player run faster when running the bases or fielding the ball.Next is , when you create or boost a player you cannot give a pitcher more than 4 pitches.Even worse, if you change a pitcher's attributes that already had more than 4 pithes the game defaults to him only having 4.Although these are minor flaws , they take away from what could be the best Baseball game on the market.Even with these small problems ASB '04 still outdoes the other Baseball games available.

The best baseball sim yet |
| Steve from Poughkeepsie, NY says (1/Apr/2003): |
It seems that everyone bashing the game has absolutely no skill at all. As someone else said, this isn't slugfest. If you want to win every game by 30 runs, don't buy this. This game is for people who have hand-eye coordination, and don't expect to win every game. When's the last time a team won 162 games? If you want a great simulation, this game has no equal. I just don't understand how ea can make a game like Madden (the greatest game ever) and then make a joke like mvp baseball.

Good Game |
| B- Dubz from Suffern, NY says (27/Mar/2003): |
I had the 2003 and 2002 versions of ASB and i think 2004 is the best one yet. Ive seen MVP and it doesnt compare to ASB. in MVP the whole thing is too big and its too easy to hit and they didnt do good stadium detail or player detail or any detail really. ASB has ever detail down to the location of the Kodak sign in left field at Yankee Stadium. I like how the scoreboards are more real life now with the players name number and pic on them. The franchise is imaculate and i like the future ballparks. also, i like that it is hard. the first time i popped it in i lost on rookie level 3 times in a row. the firs time i played MVp i won 12-0. ASB is realistic and will keep people glued to their seats. GO YANKEES!

Great game, needs work. |
| Jason from Geneva, OH says (25/Mar/2003): |
Many great things in Franchise mode such as arbitration, Rule 5 drafts, Rookie Drafts, trading block, and waivers. Great modes such as HR Derby, Pickup Game, Trivia Game, Batting Practice, Series Mode. The music is great. You cant beat a guy coming out to Creedence or to Bosephus (Hank Williams Jr.).
Problems are few, but serious. It is a very dishonorable thing to not include 2 people in the Franchise. One of the best parts of sports games are you and a couple of friends sitting down for a fantasy draft, and controlling all the aspects of your team. So if you are an only child and have no friends, this game is perfect.
The other problem is the phantom catching. Your glove doesnt have to hit the ball for you to catch it. Sorta stupid. Plus when you overthrow somebody, the person closest to the ball does not track it down. That is annoying, since the person that missed it usually has to run there, and that is enough time for the runner to get an extra 2 bases or more.
Great game though. Better than the rest. MVP is pretty good, but cant match up to All Start and its fantasy mode.

Best game yet this year |
| Robert from Connecticut says (25/Mar/2003): |
There is no way that this game is not the best game of the year 2003. I don't think that any other game will have the options and play like this game. When playing this game you will need to put your knowledge of baseball and hand-eye coordination at work. There are a feww things i don't like but what game doesn't have glitches. My 6 year old cousin can play this game on vetran after only playing it three times. Of course you will lose in a season because every team has it's off days. I think i went on a 3 game slide but then went on to have 5 out of the 9 guys in my line-up have 13 game hitting streaks. The stats, awards, off season transactions, injuries, player developement, and the computer's intelligence are what make this game great. I don't see how you can say this game is a waste of money. I think that Acclaim sports has a great challenge to make this game better in some way because it is already near perfect.

The Baseball Game of the Spring |
| Ryan "Ryhno" Harris from St.Louis, MO, USA says (24/Mar/2003): |
Alright, i know there are a few sissies out there who think ASB is too hard and too complicated, but this is the baseball game of the spring. You can't ask for a more realistic baseball game. Of Course you get all the other features that were attached to last year's addition:batting practice, home run derby, and trivia. But the Frachise mode is possibly the best improvement over last year's game. For all the newcomers to the game, you start the season in spring training, and you can choose to play all the games if you wish. The hitting and pitching has improved. It is a little more difficult than last year's but I enjoy that type of gameplay. During gameplay the batters have music that plays as they approach the plate. I enjoy the little things that have been added. For instance when a player hit the ball, they actually look in the direction where the ball has been hit. Updated rosters of course and a much new and improved create-a-player. As far as the General Manager goes, its so much more realistic. You can now sign players to long term contracts or put trading blocks on them. All-Star Baseball is indeed the game of the spring.

Great Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Scott B. from Saraland, Alabama USA says (23/Mar/2003): |
The graphics are great the sounds are great and personally I think anyone who plays this game should and will love it. I will probably buy it when I get enough money and you probably will too, if you ever play it. This is a great baseball game I loved it so rent it and you will love it to.

Better than last years |
| Jamin from Iowa City, Iowa says (20/Mar/2003): |
Some of the faults from last years version are still in affect such as in franchise modes lead off hitter will hit 30+ homers in a year. Other than this and a few repeditive commentary options this is still better than the other options out there. If you can have played baseball games before (especially last years version) you shouldn't have a hard time "hitting the ball" even with the most realistic hitting options available. A good purchase for baseball fans.

Not Your Daddy's ATARI Baseball game |
| WarDog from Jacksonville NC, USA says (17/Mar/2003): |
Hey Kids... One word before you even purchase A.S.B.-2004 ?
If you Don't have good hand-eye co-ordination or if you have slow reflexes... Do NOT buy this game !!
This is not High-Heat or Slug-Fest where you just press the directional pad and get a hit! You must understand BaseBall !!
This is a BIG Boys Game!
Oh Yeh.. All of your Silly Cheats? Go Home and play Zelda or Jak and Dexter... Quite wasting my time. There are ZERO cheats for this game. If you want to put the game on two player mode and strike yourself out.. have at it !! Go Head to Head with another person. I'd rate this game as being similar to Madden Football. You can play and win against the Computer on the Lower Difficulty Level and loose to all of your Friends OR Loose to the Computer on the Harder Levels and Kick Everyone's ASS when you Play another person Head-To-Head. It will take a GREAT amount of Patience to "Master" this Game, but stick with it, It's well worth the Time. You MUST Know The Game... You CAN'T Throw to one spot every pitch when your on the mound... You CAN'T Aim the Batting Cursor at the same spot every Pitch when your at the plate !
BOTTOM LINE !!!! If you Don't like this Game, You aren't Good enough to even attempt to Play it.

Another great baseball game... |
| Roger from New York, NY says (17/Mar/2003): |
Just like 2003, the folks at Acclaim Sports have re-shaped the video game baseball world. With the same great game play and alot of new features, this game plays like a champ! I love the variety of stadiums and uniforms. A few complaints: it would be nice to open up the season/franchise modes to more than one player; also, they took away the batting practice jerseys that were used in 2003. Overall, though, a great, great game!

WHY BUY??? |
| Dick Sharpie from New York says (15/Mar/2003): |
This game is the worst baseball game ever. I mean ever. I agree with Sharon B.(read her report to know what I mean), she said, "I know a good game when I see one and this is not it"!!! That is dam true. Trust me don't buy this game. I would rather buy a different game if I was you. I am so I mean so glad I just rented it instead of buying it. (THANK GOD) Try a different game. I would!!!

ASB 2004 continues the tradition of exelence!!!!!!! |
| Brian Woodyard from Abilene, Tx, USA says (14/Mar/2003): |
This Game is awesome! Again the crew at acclaim sports comes through with another great ASB game! this game is deep. Its got player Arbitration, AAA and AA clubs, winter meetings, a neat new pickup game option, a great assortment of ledgendary teams, also has another feature i like and expanion draft. The Trivia game and baseball card features are also improved with more things to unlock. It is also very cool with the addition of media and stadium tours. There only a few drawbacks that kept me from giving a 10. The first thing i dont like is that they took away the batting camera options. I used to like the zoom option in the past. It just gets you closer to the batter and makes it that much more fun. The batting is a little bit more diffucult this game but it does add to replay value. The other thing is im not sure if i really like the not being able to change the innings in season games. I did forget one other thing that is totally awesome about this game and that is the new Scenario mode which is just cool. Well i do give this game and 9 and commend the folks at acclaim sports on a Job Well Done!!! See ya next year baseball fans.

Attention: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! |
| C from Pine Bush says (12/Mar/2003): |
This game stinks in every mode, especially the manager mode. The computer always gets hits while you are trying to come back. And when you do try the computer kills you even more. The graphics, sound, are ok, but the computer plays like a professional! My record right now in franchise mode thru just 12 games is 0-12. I will never buy an All star baseball game again. Don't fall victim, keep your money.
|
This game is the best baseball game out there! |
| Chris G. from Orland Hills, Illinois says (10/Mar/2003): |
This truly is the best. It has every option you can think of. From Arbitration to Stadium Tours. Triple A and Single A, Winter Meetings, and waivers. For a true baseball fan, this is the game to buy. If you have trouble hitting the ball, turn on easy hitting. I would recommend over any other baseball game, but still has room for improvement.
|
excellent game, highly recommended |
| Eric from greene, TN says (10/Mar/2003): |
This is the best baseball simulation ever!!! This game has everything!!! great franchise play!!! the only negative is that hitting is hard on this game! you can switch to easy mode which does make it easier, but still hard! The A.I. in this game is excellent. if you constanlt keep throwing pitches in the same area the computer will club the ball!!!! it has flaws, but it is excellent and a must play
|
Boring(WASTE OF MONEY) |
| Sharon Brunnssen from Sioux City, Iowa says (8/Mar/2003): |
I know a good game when I see one and this is not it!!! You try and it the ball, wait you can't because the bat always misses. I mean like what baseball game makes the bat miss all the time. Trust me it is a waste of money. Bye a different baseball game.
