good good worth the 90 bucks i paid for it to light hearted for my taste | | claire from WA australia says (16/Apr/2004): | ummmm for starters...btw i have never written a review so i will just try and be helpful!
I am dissapointed that tidus didnt return but i have only played the game once through and im playing it again & IM AIMING FOR THE PERFECT ENDING. hope u guys know what im talking about(once u get 100% u get this so called thing where theres a new ending!) i went surfing the net after i had finished thinking this must not be it! and thats where i found the 100% perfect ending! anyways i tried and tried looking for the ways to get a 100% and i found this thing which might help you guys- apparently when u fall down that hole in the djose temple when ixion stamps u down in the 2nd chapter i think u can walk around for a while... press circle all the time when your down there and u should hear a faint whistling thats your cue thats somethings happening (keep pressing circle until your sure the scenes over)and apparently tidus apperars (which he will have to some time in there coz hes in the credits when u finish it even though there was nothing on him juring the whole game!)and u need to have done that during the scene to get the perfect ending! also i found out myself that if u want heaps of money u pay off okaka the 23rd early in the game he will stick around for a while and sell u things for super cheap thats when u buy stuff from him (as much as u can) and sell them 2 barkeep for a profit.. OH if your wondering why i gave it a 9 and not a 10 is cos the girls got really smutty and yuna turned from super conservative to a better not say.. any ways loved it but not as much as final fantasy 10 or 9 (nine was the first FF i played so it will always remain high on my list)i have played 7 & 8 as well and i argee with that dude before squall & auron where some of the best characters--- i didnt like paine much either... my favorites will remain th originals of ff10 the totally rocked!
love it heaps claire
PS.. if someone finds the complete guide on the net of ff10-2 please email me at hotbasghetti< remove me > at hotmail.com
| FFX-2 is easy!!! | | Lily Anderson from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada says (10/Aug/2004): | okay, first of, i would like to say X is alot better. second, i would like to say that you don't need 100% to see tidus. at the farplane, when you get to walk around at the end after shuyin and lenne fade away, press the X or O button (i forget which) and you'll see a scene at the end after 1000 words plays. tidus does the swim to the surface thing from the end of X and yuna fly by with the celsius. i wont wreak anymore. also, 100% complete is easy, its only time consuming. bevelle and bikanel are the two that take longer than any thing else. so what if its a full female cast?!?!?! you can change into many different dress spheres and that more than makes up for the lack of people. the game is REALLY easy if you wanna go through from beginning to end; you don't really have to be at a high level. i went through the game once for maybe 10ish hours to see the system and graphics(which i loved) and beat shuyin at level 53 with maybe...6-8 dress spheres. one thing about this game that is not that easy is finding out all the places you have to be in at what point in the story. that's nearly impossible without the guide. who would have known that you had to sleep in the cabin ALL 5 chapters?!?!?!?! i dunno :S well, that's all i have to say about this game!!!! bye, byes!!!
| its the best game ever!!! :) | | forrest coltin or from coltin or usa says (30/Aug/2004): | I thouhgt this wouldnt be as good as the other game, but I think it was beter just by a bit. I think its a graet idea to put a new game plus additions and get all the idems and dress sphers you had you also get a few new suprises so check your bag.its a big advanteges that you can skip so of the seenes in the game. i love how you can right you ouwn story bored line i personly love yuna and rikku its amasing how the anamators can mack them look so amasing and cool but i donot now how the specil ending works . the carictor data and drawing was vary good exspesele on yuna and rikku pains wasent that good.the blitz ball tornament was awful insted of being a plalyer your a coach that was a awfal thing to do.i loved the songs like 1000 words that was .....i can relly explain how good it was . my friends think im the best ff plaer thar ever was but i tink i cuold be much better its probly becuse thay all suck so are o.k. but the bosses are to essy thay could be much harder in the end i thinck this is one of the best final fantasy yet but thats only my opinion of this game.
| One of the most wonderful FF's in a long time | | Blackpaw from Union, MO says (19/Mar/2004): | Final Fantays x-2 was a perfect game in many ways, the revamping of the Dress System introduced in FF3 was done masterfully, and I love the ability to change in battle .
The Graphivcs and gameplay are all top notch, and the voice acting has much improved over FF-X. I've heard it said that this game has hardly any storyline at all, but I disagree. I find the story rather intriguing and very funny at times. The antics of LeBlanc and the Gullwings left me laughing. This isn't FF-VI but It's a wonderful game in and of itself. If there was one thing I'd change, I would place a way to rotate the camera angle on the world view, it's kind of annoying trying to find somethign behind a tree in Macalina woods or something... but toehrwise Wonderful Game, can't wait for FF-XII to come and see what wonders they have for that one! :)
| It was Great, it just could have been better... | | CJH says (8/Aug/2004): | This was a really good game.I just think that it could have been much much better. I gave X-2 8 stars but I most likely would have given X 10. Yes, this game can be beaten much faster but to get one hundred percent, most, but not all, people have to play three or four times. This one just didn't have the strange appeal that the first one did but in certain ways It was kind of better. I don't like the fact that it looks like, I'm not saying it was supposed to, but it looks like they tried to raise the sex appeal which isn't very traditional to other FF games as far as I know.
I thought the graphics were pretty good except Rikku's face looked kinda strange during a couple scenes, lol. There was alot less CG Animation than in FFX but I guess that isn't enirely a bad thing.
The music was also very nice, though some could seem sad, in a teary kind of way, if you were really really into FFX.
The battle system was also much faster than the first one but that can also make the battles somewhat harder. I was dissapointed with the difficulty of the final boss but some of the other bosses you must fight in order to get 100% completion entirley make up for it.
Overall it is my second favorite game, X is my first, Though some small things may dissapoint you compared to the first... It is an awesome game! :)
| I think its great! | | knighty from england says (23/Feb/2004): | I just read the review from Lisa! Im male and I didnt think that it was aimed at a female audience! Yeh i feel that it is completely different from other final fantasy games but the difference is what makes it unique and special and keeps me playing! Dressspheres were an idea to rival the sphere gird and the garment grids too! The characters maybe female but replace them with male characters which act the same i feel square would have acheived the same effect except the fact that woman express their feelings more and females like Rikku make it all worth while! And u got to admitt- their pretty good looking for virtual characters! Rikku is a class character and so are Yuna and Paine! And there ARE male characters too! Theres the other gullwings like buddy and brother and Shinra and then you also get nooj and the othjer leaders! The only other main female character other than yuna, paine and rikku are lulu and leblanc! and id jus like to take this moment to say this game is pure genius to even rival me!!! its grrrrrrrrrrr8
| Best game I've ever played | | Rameez from UK,Shipley says (18/Apr/2004): | I just love everthing about it, okay I have to admit Paine was kindo've like an idiot but still she had some major power.I speacially enjoyed the mini-gun shoot-out game. One of my friends told me that the game was absouloute s**t.He said don't buy it!!!So I bought and eversingle thing was good. That shows that people have no respect or taste for brialliant game like FFX-2.Even if there was only 3 people in the entire game thats what made it hard, the people that don't like can shut their fat gobs and go to Hell because us FF fans are not gonna get dissapointed so easily.I'd personally give the game an A+.Eeythings a dazzler.Since the sphere grid has been replaced with ordinary AP and moving around there's no hassle thinking which way to go left or right it's just getting AP and leveling,it's as simple as that.
| Love Story | | game_gurl101 from Katy (Texas), USA says (7/Jul/2004): | When I first heard of this game, I was like, oh, this should be good! I mean, it the sequel to one of the greatest FF games ever! It HAS to be good. Heh, I in for a surprise.
FFX-2 is where you control Yuna (OMG! The first time that you get to control a female main character all the time!!! AWSOME!!!) and go around Spria acting like Charlies Angels and saving people from danger. Your also on a quest to find Tidus! ( I have no clue why they wont just say his name in the story)
Let me tell you now, FFX-2 is not like 7-10, where they just had little romance parts. FFX-2 IS a love story. Even with all the little sidequests and helping people.
But besides the fact that its a love story, its has awsome graphics that look very life like. And the music is awsome. Especially the two songs: real Emotion, and A Thousand Words. (but thats probably cuz they have lyrics)
And, as with every other FF game, you have fighting in it. This time you have things called Dresspheres that allow you to change into other different skimpy outfits with different abilities. Though I would say that the Mascot outfiit is just about the funniest one.
Anyway, I hope this has helped you. I would suggest renting the game more than buying it. But if you feel that you must have every FF game (like me) then buy it. I say rent because this is a big spin off from the other ones. Im certain most guy gamers wont like it. I know my brother didnt.
| One of the best Final Fantasy games in the series yet!!! | | Gamer from Augusta, Georgia says (4/Apr/2004): | My opinion is this is one of the best Final Fantasy games in the series yet! Anyone who has not played or beat Final Fantasy X yet should play Final Fantasy X first. If you don't you will not be familar with alot of the things in the game. The graphics are perfect, the music is great, & the plot is great. I have already beat the game, & it was great. I thoght the ending was great were you have to fight Vegnagun & Shuyin. One thing I thought was cool when I fought Shuyin was,he was using the same fighting style as Tidus from FFX. I also think the new games are neat as well such as the gunners guantlet. The only game I disliked was the sphere break. I also like how they still kept blitzball still in the game. Even though you can't use aeons in the game I still think it is a great game. My Opinion is the dressspheres made up for the aeons. I think anyone who is a Final Fantasy fan should get this game.
| its great!!! | | Rikku from newcastle-england says (23/Oct/2004): | FFx-2 has to be 3rd best of all FF's i havent cloked it yet, which is a shame cause i cant wait to see the perfect ending.I really enjoy this game its gota great story to it,i got up to chapter 4 then i started a new game and saved it over the file that i was upto chapter 4 on!well i'm on chapter 2 facing the aeons.I'm giving to much away, the missions are the best they are really fun such as infriltate bevelle and chase that chocobo! This is truly a great game!It really follows of from the game and u get to meet...some old gaurdians but i aint gonna say who!*evil grin*My friend dosent really like it she can stand the battle system which is quite confusing but it gets easier!I heard that u get to see a good old friend near the end!(he descended to the farplane before tidus)thats all i know!I loved this game its really intresting,it starts thousands of trails which all link up in the end!it makes it so u and Yuna have to work the mystery out to gether its a great experince!
| every one has got too get this game | | final fantasy/expert!! from united kindom says (20/Feb/2004): | this is the most best game i have ever played and it beats any of the other games that you see the stores the people without this game trust me you have to get this game it is quite easy but then again all of the final fantasys are easy i have completed all of them except 11 and 12 my all time favorite is final fantasy10-2 if you are one of those people who love final fantasys then you have to get this it costs a lot ya (39.99)but trust me on this it is defantley worth the price and its good graphics and gamplay and sound please trust me on this and get this game you will sit in four hours playing this but dont stay in all day my advice is play it in the morning for about 2 hours and then in the afternoon play it for an hour then at night i play it until i get tired so if you want too have fun and be pleased then by this game final fantsy 10-2 price(39.99)
| The Best RPG I have ever played | | Declan Clement from Lancashire, UK says (2/Mar/2004): | Ever since Final fantasy brought out FFV I thought "If someone can do this they can go really far in the RPG gaming world" So since the beginning i started liking the FF games and gradually making it through to the end of the games. So when FFX came out i thought they had made the ultimate FF game and i was shocked(in the good way) to find out that they were making a FFX-2. After completing FFX I thought about what FFX-2 would be like and even though it is completly different to the other FF games I liked it alot better then all of them and thats why i give it a 10* rating and as soon as it came out i went down to the shop a bought it straight away. I hope they will make another FF game Don't You? If you have anything to say about my review just send me an e-mail and it will be shown with this review. ok?
| a good game by all means | | Miguel Miguel from usa says (8/Mar/2004): | the facts about final fantasy x-2 are simple,in my opinion
its better then ffx in many ways, u can change the way the story
is tolled in many ways, the first time i beat the game i was really mad only getting 50% percent done of the story done, soon i realized by playing the game again there is more to the game then u think alot people are mad because its only a girl gang, but i wanted ff x-2 to diffrent then others final fantasy games i play and beat,u can argue the facts that yeah u have to get 100% to get the perfect ending, which is alot of work but real final fantasy players will not have a problem with that, i dint mind beating the games 3 times to get the perfect ending, so if you are a fan of the series you love the game or hate it simple as that.
| It is supposed to be tidus' story | | A gamer says (13/Jul/2004): | I love Final Fantasy 10. I'm a guy and I almost cried at the ending of FF10. It was Tidus's story but he goes and enjoys it in the Farplanes. That was the only let down in FF10. Until after the credits were finished Tidus seemed to be resurrected by the fayth in the ocean or something. That made me more happy.
A couple months later Final Fantasy 10-2 comes out. Bought the game the first day. I was thinking about buying the official stategy guide but I didn't. I didn't like that there was only a party of three; they were all girls; and no aeons. But I loved the music and special effects (the best of all Final Fantasy series). There was something in my mind that Yuna will find Tidus in the end. So it took me 31 hours to be the game. At the end, I was really disappointed to find out that Yuna did not find Yuna. I was really mad. Until my cousin brought up that I did not get the perfect ending because I did not complete it 100%. So I went back to the store and bought the strategy guide for FFX-2 and beat the game in 25 hours 100%. I got the perfect ending and loved it. Now its back to Tidus' story. And most of you guys might think I'm gay. Guess what, I'm 14 years old and I'm BLACK, that's dedication to the game!
| It's new, but is it better? | | Amir Kolmanic from Athens, Greece says (20/Mar/2004): | Many people thought that Final Fantasy X was the greatest game ever produced. As a result, FFX-2 was made. The only FF game with such an upgrade, FFX gained a very high reputation, so its sequel had a lot of work to do and alot of fans to impress. Did they succeed? I'll tell you what I think about the game and some criticisms, so on, blah, blah...let's get to business.
The game features Yuna, Rikku and Paine, the trio known as The Gullwings, sphere hunters in the world of Spira. Yuna, with the help of her guardians eternally defeated Sin two years ago. But then, she was a summoner, a purely religious disciple who was to undertake a sacrificial quest to defeat the persistent bane of Spira. Every time it was defeated, it reappeared ten years later, so to never really be defeated, unless the people were to atone to their sins. Some thought it futile to keep toiling with such a task, but the summoners persistently thought it worthwhile. By figuring out that Yu Yevon, the fiend controlling Sin was the one to defeat, Tidus, Yuna, Auron, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri and Rikku vanquished Sin and brought to Spira the eternal calm. But now, trouble is stirring up again in Spira, as an unbelievably powerful machina, Vegnagun, has been located in the Bevelle underground area. With such a force to control, it seems all of Spira is in an uproar, and the clash between New Yevon and the Youth League is about to begin...
That should suffice for the introduction...hehe. Now to the games features and differences. Since FFX-2 is so very similar to FFX, I'll compare the two. If your expecting to see Sphere Grids or levels, Aeons (your own, anyway), Turn-Based Battles, Blitzball or equipping weapons you'll be very sadly disappointed. The Sphere Grid is now obsolete because...well because there are Garment Grids and Dresspheres. Garment grids are grids with slots for inserting Dresspheres and possess different abilities. Dresspheres are similar to the characteristics your characters from FFX had, e.g. Lulu was a black mage, so there's a Black Mage DS, Yuna was a white mage, so we have White Mage DS etc. There are also ones like Gun Mage (Yuna's default), Thief (Rikku's default), Warrior (Paine's default), Alchemist, Mascot, Dark Knight, Lady Luck... BTW, each girl can dress up into any DS. Then we have the familiar abilities the girls learn through levels (yes, not sphere levels, plain old 'up to 99 or summit' levels). Black Mage has Fire, Thunder, Ice, Watera and can learn level 2 spells i.e. Fira, Thundara etc. White Mage has Cure, Esuna and can learn level 2, Cura... Same goes for level 3, Curaga. But some spells, like Full Cure, are new. Thief has FlimFlam, a mix of Steal, Pilfer gil and Bribe. And so on, so on...The combos are endless. As for the Aeons, you could say you can summon 'Mini Aeons' while the girls are wearing Trainer DS.
Blitzball could supposedly be related to Sphere Break, though you need slightly more thought here (1+1=2, hehe). There is also Gunner's Gauntlet, which you can find out for yourself. In my opinion, the Sphere Grid was generally much better than this classic style of raising; it was more expandable and less limited. The Aeons were alot of fun (like Pokeemon, smirk... lol, don't really like Pokeemon, I mean Pokemon (e with a line above)) and you could teach them abilities and raise their stats (not with protein like Pokkemon) just exploit their power to slaughter hard bosses (e.g. Yojimbo's Zanmato - this is for those of you who wanted to get Anima but couldn't cos' you forgot to get the treasure in Besaid Temple, and so had to encounter that stupid D. Valefor who slaughtered your pitifully raised characters with a single Sonic Boom, oops, i mean Sonic WINGS (not like Pookemon, smirk) or killed all of your characters with an Energy Ray). Anyway, one more new aspect is that instead of equipping your measly THREE (yeah only 3, tria, tres, tri, trois, drei (OK u get it) characters instead of the before SEVEN!!!!! what a difference (not six like Pokeemon, smirk)) characters with armors, they now get accessories (big difference ;*****), but the weapons are completely omitted, as previousy mentioned. Instead of the old airship Cid had, the Gullwings' airship is now called the Celsius, with a nice fancy red coating too. Tidus is seen several times, but not nearly enough... The CTB (Conditionally (I think) Turn Based Battle System) is now the ATB (figure it out), with more dynamic turns, which has its +es and -es, like if your agile, you can just crack the enemy five times in a time space of ten seconds, but the bad thing is that if you want to get a snack and leave the battle unpaused, you will (unlike in FFX) see a screen with big words spread across your screen reading GAME OVER. Yes, it blows, i know, so just don't forget to pause. The Monster Arena is still there, last time I checked (unless a PS2 My Doom Bug arrived recently through that new Network thing).
Generally, FFX-2 is a very good game with improved graphics, and it is a must-buy for FF fans. Maybe it is a game filled with chicks, but it's still not a chick game... :)
That's pretty much I'll write for now, I hope it helps, or sumfink...For questions, tips, or anything related send me an e-mail at aabeba35712< remove me > at hitmail.com...oopss I mean aabeba35712< remove me > at hotmail.com or kolmanic< remove me > at yahoo.com.
Thanks for reading and remember, gamers, KEEP ON PLAYIN'!!!!!
| NO MOVIE TIME????? | | Nekokaburi from Oceanside, California says (6/Feb/2004): | Are you a fool. Final fantasy x-2 has more cut scenes than any other final fantasy yet. Did you even watch the Commshperes??? If you actually play the entire thing then you will find there are a ton of movie scenes. If you are looking for high-defenition graphic cut scenes, then I suppose you would be right they didn't have a ton, just around an hours worth. Whoever thinks that is just plain dumb. Now in order for you to have access to all the scenes make sure you go to every town in chapters 2 and 3 and physically talk to Shinra. He will then place the Commspheres and you will have access to them on his network.
| what a game!! best one yet! | | dave from paris, france says (3/May/2004): | final fantasy X-2 is the best out of all the series.i wouldnt say by far because they are all great.the only reason why this game dosent get 10 stars is because it is to short which is a bit of a let down.i did enjoy it when i stated playing and when i completed it.i like the idea of it mattering what u do for the ending of the game.i think most final fantasys are great and exciting but this hits the spot.when at first my brother got the game we both played it for several hours!!!!!! another bad pointer well 2 actually was that you could only be yuna paine and rikku and for us boys i think thats sexist!also it can get a bit ot confusing about yuna trying to find tidus was she ment to do it or was had she got it wrong!my fav charecter on this game is yuna but i would of liked wakka and auron in the games because there cool! what i wont to know is when ur fighting vegnagun is that aurons tidus and jects voice u can hear because it took me by suprise when i heard it?also i think the game was a little to easy. what i like about the games is the jobs!my favourite has to be mascot even though i nevr used it it is my goal to get it!that is the reason why i enjoy final fantasys so much because u can set ur self a goal and i like doing that!i think that it was good with the addition of paine in the game! i like the idea of her knowing gipppal, nooj and baralai.another queston i ask is it always barlai u face or can u face nooj and gippal aswell? the one i like also is final fantasy is 7 which i would advise u to buy and i would like a ps2 sequal for that one plz! this is the end of my review and click yes!not no!
| Completely hooked on Rikku | | Super Gaijin from Charlottetown, PEI, Canada says (15/Jan/2004): | This game is incredibly addictive. It's a million times better than FFX since it went back to the old system of simply levelling up. There's no more stupid sphere grid to add 200 HP to your total or give you one more speed point. There's no chance of being stuck on one spot and not levelling up because you don't have a specific sphere. The concept of the dresspheres is ingenious, anyone can be any class at any time basically, so long as that class is applied to the garment grid that that character has equipped.
The game can last anywhere from 10 hours to over 100, depending on if you're going straight in for plot or to get everything and complete all sidequests. If you can't figure out how to get higher than 60% by the end of the game, then you shouldn't be playing with anything more than a rubber ball. It's not a completely linear game, so therefore don't treat it like one. Walk around for hours at a time, search every nook and cranny of every extra area before continuing the plot. There's no rush to finish the game, besides it's much harder to finish Vegnagun if you went for nothing but plot, you wouldn't have the correct dresspheres or abilities gained for the dresspheres to beat it with any ease.
And yes, there are accessories that do more than one thing. Minerva's Plate, Wring, Bloodlust, Bushido Lore, etc. all do many things at once. Even just common accessories can have up to three effects at once on your character. Minerva's Plate and Wring is an excellent combination to use for a black mage or a white mage (if you've already learned the black magic spells). You'll have a magic attack of 255 (max) but very little health, you'll be poisoned automatically at the start of each battle, but you'll be able to cast incredibly powerful magic in the blink of an eye with the Turbo Black Magic effect supplied by Minerva's Plate, but only do this if you don't care about levelling up anymore since you'll constantly suffer from pointless.
Another great aspect is the Active Time Battle system. You can set it to wait if you so wish, but I always leave it on ATB so I can properly combo my attacks together. I'm easily getting 18-hit combos that can easily kill some bosses in two turns.
It's a great game, I love the graphics and storyline, I love the characters and sidequests, the minigames, everything. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes to have fun with their RPG's.
| a really awesome game that anyone should buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 | | A gamer from os angeles, USA says (13/Jun/2004): | this was an awesome sequence to ff10! Yuna and Rikku arent stuck up like they were in 10 (and are EXTREMELY HOT!!! fact not opinion.) it is guarunteed to give long hours of fun and excitement to anyone. i am really happy that they made a sequel to ff10 becuz this is a great game. i do think that you beat 10 first to better understand it though you dont need to but i highly recommend it. did i mention how hot rikku and yuna are becuz that is about my favorite part of this game. the graphics seem almost real in movie parts. it used to cost 50 dollars but now they are selling them for 20 or 30 so they are not too expensive. this game can take within 10 to 100 hours to beat (depending on if your trying to get 100% or not) if you get 100%, at the end press either O or X (varies from game to game) and there will be a better ending than the normal one. it would be really awesome if they made a final fantasy 10-3 but i dont think that they are going to :( id say that the only thing that i dont like is not summoning aeons (Yuna and Rikkus hotness make up for that and more though) anyone who likes final fantasy games should buy this.
| dont come here if u dont like the game | | johnny from usa californa says (5/Jan/2004): | i like ffx-2 it was the best game i have ever played even though i didn't finish. it all the good things that has to be in a good game yuna Rikku and paine dressphere and other stuff. at the first time when i saw Paine i thought she was a guy until i realise that she was wearing heal on shoe. But that suks they show like 3 movie. first is at the beginning second is at the thunder plain third is at the end. but it was kool it was the best final fantasy of all the others
