Ever since it hit the shops I wanted to buy it, mainly because I played FFX. Its the greatest (and first) sequel to storm the FINAL FANTASY series and is the most impressive game I have EVER come across. Not only are the graphics like watching a pure bred DVD... but the sound consumption and the way they compare to each other is strictly amazing. No other game could compare to the wonder that Final Fantasy X-2 is. Ever since playing Final Fantasy (The first) - I was hooked on it. The came FF2 and so on. When FF7 hit the Play-Station... I couldnt leave my bed until it was finished. Now... 14 years and 12 productions later... From FINAL FANTASY right through to FINAL FANTASY X-2, I still remain amazed at the progress in graphical enhancements, sound upgrades and motion sequels. No other game could ever rival FFX-2...
The story line is all based on Final Fantasy X - Yuna is destined to find Tidus through searching for Spheres found all over Spira... it all started when Yuna saw a sphere from Rikku of a man caged in, who looks JUST like Tidus. Later they find that this guy is actually called "SHUYIN" - the lover of "LENNE". Yuna is now involved somehow to these two individuals from the past by a "DRESS SPHERE" ("Songstress") that belonged to LENNE over a thousand years ago. Now, the tale that is FFX-2 is revolved around SHUYIN AND LENNE & YUNA AND TIDUS' ordeal od searching for eachother.
If you aint got FFX-2, buy it.

Anyways i think every one should give it a chance. this is the greatest game in the Universe and I give it a 10 plus.you get so addicted and have to keep playing and playing cause you want to see what happens.But make sure you have played and beaten Final Fantasy X or you won't understand it as well as you should.

Aside from #4&5 this game blew time twenty two! They shouldn't have ever made a Charlies Angels chick flick game. Espesialy for a final fantasy game. What they really need to do is make another game like final fantasy 7. that was the funnest game i have ever played in my life. And ff8 had the very best story line of all. Anyways, the whole dress-up thing is really kindergrden. So what i'm saying is they should never have made a sequal to ff10. Another thing is any final fantasy where you dont get limit breaks or get to buy weapons is a poor game to play. And whats with no sphere grid. the thing in ten-two that gets me the most is all the fun parts of final fantasy ten are all tourist atractions in ten-two. Plus this is the only final fantasy game i have ever played (exept #1) without summunings. Whats with that? That is all i have to say about that.

What was the point of making a sequel when the first game was so good? The battle system was better, the characters were more origional and Yuna was innocent. I do like the way that you can choose their jobs, though you feel like you are dressing a doll. There are more bad things than good things with this game.
Firstly, the battle system is really annoying because, unlike Final Fantasy 10, the battle system is touch-and-go. Then there are the three characters. Each act like little girls and say things like 'oh poopie!' or 'god darn it!' every few minutes. Square also removed the ability to summon aeons and go into override mode, which were the two flashiest bits of the game! Apart from those, the game is OK. The graphics are fantastic, especially CGI scenes that come up every now and again. There are also about 17 dress spheres to customise your characters with,so it would take ages to learn every ability. The sound and music are fine, not great, but not the worst either. It will last you about 65hrs if you take it seriously, but it is'nt very fun at all.
Right now, it should cost you about £30.00 if you are lucky, just don't think it's going to be better than it's prodocessor. As they say, the apple does'nt fall far from the tree, so it is'nt a lot more different to any of the other Final Fantasy titles.

Not only is it the first sequel in the series (which is a bad thing), but it completely ignores the fact that it's a Final Fantasy game. It's like they took Final Fantasy X's world, characters and stuff, and put it in some other game where the ATB sucks, everything is designed for morons, and loyal Final Fantasy (particullarily FFX) fans are given a big punch in the face. No Sphere grib, no proper storyline, a 'turn based' battle sequence which feel more like playing Devil May Cry (without moving), compared to FFX's simple conditional turn-based system where you where aloud to decide what to do. Here are the things in the game:
Gameplay 7/10:
The battles are just as random and the places are pretty much how we left them in FFX. Only when you actually fight, it becomes less of a turn based strategy game and more of an action game where you use menu's to attack. The sphere grid is gone and this time you upgrade them like you did with the Aeons in FFX, put them in a few battles and they'll gain health. The way they learn new moves is strange to, select the move and every battle you do counts towards it, ok... And the overdrives are gone, as are Aeons which really takes the flashiest parts of the battles away. And what's really annoying is that they binned trying to make a decent plot and instead made a my-first-RPG battle system.
Graphics 8/10:
The non-rendered cutscenes in FFX were better then some actuall CG cutscenes in lesser games, as for the CG in FFX, well, the fact you knew it was a video game was the only thing stopping you from thinking it was real. In this however, in all the places CG would have been brilliant, they skipped it and stuck with in-game visuals... genius... the CG at the beggining is decent, but then there's a long gap before you see any more of it. And even then it's still not up there with FFX. Itjust seems so unpolished...
Sound 8/10:
The voice acting is on par with FFX, although a bit hyperactive... although they got rid of the meaty sword strike noice and the magic noises, and replaced them with quieter mimics. Although I can tell they put effort into the noise where they $#< remove me > at ! the gun... To bad you only here it once or twice in the whole game. Oh well...
Lifespan 5/10:
There's a 30-odd hour plot ark in this about Yuna trying to find Tidus... Big deal... The plot isn't anywhere near as well told or deep as Final Fantasy X. Ok, if you played two hour a day, this would take you a fortnight if you were skilled. Although anyone skilled would find this boring. I myself put it down after i got half way through it in a weekend (it was rainy and damp out, so I had to find something to do for the gap between getting up and going to the pub) due to the fact the plot bored the bejesus out of me and the ATB system didn't make thing any better.
Verdict 6/10:
Not really recommended for people for the busy mainstream gamers it's aimed at and not for people who play 3 hours a day (or more). So all in all, a bit more Final Fantasy and less trying to make the main characters the FF equivelent of Charlies Angels.

The battle system was the best it has ever been in the world, but... the storyline was so awful. i literally said "this is it? i wasted 50 bucks!" most people liked FF7 or FF8... I also hated those games. They were so stupid. And FFX-2 reminded me of those two games. The graphics were superb, and the voice acting got better, but I gave FFX a 12/10... i seriously hated this game. The storyline was dry, and had a simple fly-by plot. it was also a HUGE rip-off of charlie's angels, which i also really hated. i vomitted my whole way through the game. also, my favorite characters - yuna and lulu - were totally screwed over in this game!! lulu should've been a main character as oppsed to Paine, and yuna was so innocent! now shes a slutty whore! and what's up with the guns?! this game belongs in the trash along with FF8 on down. Yes, I ONLY liked FF9 and FF10. their storylines were so complex and great. but this had no storyline. this was a crappy romance novel, and will forever be so. so unless you want to hear about a girl cry about how much she misses a dead guy, dont buy it... and its NOT the drmamatic type of crying... its the THIS IS A CRAPPY ROMANCE NOVEL AND SHE IS A HORRIBLE VOICE-ACTOR TYPE OF CRYING!!
| Best game I've ever played | | Rameez from UK,Shipley says (18/Apr/2004): | I just love everthing about it, okay I have to admit Paine was kindo've like an idiot but still she had some major power.I speacially enjoyed the mini-gun shoot-out game.One of my friends told me that the game was absouloute s**t.He said don't buy it!!!So I bought and eversingle thing was good.That shows that people have no respect or taste for brialliant game like FFX-2.Even if there was only 3 people in the entire game thats what made it hard, the people that don't like can shut their fat gobs and go to Hell because us FF fans are not gonna get dissapointed so easily.I'd personally give the game an A+.Eeythings a dazzler.Since the sphere grid has been replaced with ordinary AP and moving around there's no hassle thinking which way to go left or right it's just getting AP and leveling,it's as simple as that.

I am dissapointed that tidus didnt return but i have only played the game once through and im playing it again & IM AIMING FOR THE PERFECT ENDING. hope u guys know what im talking about(once u get 100% u get this so called thing where theres a new ending!) i went surfing the net after i had finished thinking this must not be it! and thats where i found the 100% perfect ending! anyways i tried and tried looking for the ways to get a 100% and i found this thing which might help you guys- apparently when u fall down that hole in the djose temple when ixion stamps u down in the 2nd chapter i think u can walk around for a while... press circle all the time when your down there and u should hear a faint whistling thats your cue thats somethings happening (keep pressing circle until your sure the scenes over)and apparently tidus apperars (which he will have to some time in there coz hes in the credits when u finish it even though there was nothing on him juring the whole game!)and u need to have done that during the scene to get the perfect ending! also i found out myself that if u want heaps of money u pay off okaka the 23rd early in the game he will stick around for a while and sell u things for super cheap thats when u buy stuff from him (as much as u can) and sell them 2 barkeep for a profit.. OH if your wondering why i gave it a 9 and not a 10 is cos the girls got really smutty and yuna turned from super conservative to a better not say.. any ways loved it but not as much as final fantasy 10 or 9 (nine was the first FF i played so it will always remain high on my list)i have played 7 & 8 as well and i argee with that dude before squall & auron where some of the best characters--- i didnt like paine much either... my favorites will remain th originals of ff10 the totally rocked!

And too all YOU who think ffx2 sucks, you`re wrong, and then I`m mean WRONG! I have played ff7, ff8, ff9, ffx and ffx2, ffx2 are the best game!!!!!! ofcourse you can say exactly what ya want, but it`s wrong. And everybody who have problems with beating the strongest bosses: get the cat nip accesory and use the gunner dressphere and trigger happy or lady luck and four dice. If you use new game plus and three catnips and trigger happy you can take around 300000 damage!!! But you must have low hp before it`s start too work, so it`s extremely dangerous. So it`s still hard too kill the strongest bosses as Trema and company at Via infito.

Anyone who has not played or beat Final Fantasy X yet should play Final Fantasy X first. If you don't you will not be familar with alot of the things in the game. The graphics are perfect, the music is great, & the plot is great. I have already beat the game, & it was great. I thoght the ending was great were you have to fight Vegnagun & Shuyin. One thing I thought was cool when I fought Shuyin was,he was using the same fighting style as Tidus from FFX. I also think the new games are neat as well such as the gunners guantlet. The only game I disliked was the sphere break. I also like how they still kept blitzball still in the game. Even though you can't use aeons in the game I still think it is a great game. My Opinion is the dressspheres made up for the aeons. I think anyone who is a Final Fantasy fan should get this game.

Final Fantays games are a bit repeatative. for instance they have the same costumes on (except FF4,5,10-2). though it would be anoying to come up with diffenrent outfits for them to have. also the "roam around" where you run around and suddenly you get in a fight, it gets boring after a while. but if you want to try out a new dress sphere it would be ok. but i mean the fight seqences get really boring if you wanted to level up or get AP. but Square Enix has made a brilliant FF. Number 11 which can only be played on the bloody net which is really messed up. because you need a cable and all that other stuff to play. it is a shame because it would have been the best one. because you could see the enemies before you beat them up. it also a great graphics and the characters that you roam around in don't look to bad either. but every one now is waiting for FF12. but USA and Japan will get them first before us Aussies.
if you have not played FF10-2 you should and if you have not ever played even an RPG your missing out on some good ation and great seqences.

First of all, I'd like to say the game is actually good. I was positively surprised the first time I completed it. And seeing Rikku again really is cool. She and Auron are the main cool characters from FFX. No denying that. Too bad Auron is gone.....
Anyways, another good thing about FFX-2 is to see the ATB (Active Time Battle, for those who are unfamiliar with FF games) system back again. It creates more dynamic and fastmoving action in combats, even if it is annoying to get pounded by an enemy while trying to select a spell or an item. And one thing I do want to say is, that no matter how many times people tell me the story really is bad, I can't help but disagreeing, even if it can be quite cheesy some times. The story is quite good. (Even if I think Khimari waited a little too long to beat up Garik.) One thing I really like and also hate is the concept of Oversouls. To have extra hard enemies to fight every now and then is cool, but it ain't cool when the boss on level 60 on Via Infinito goes into an oversoul mode, and no matter how many times you try it just kills of your party with a Flare attack that kills everyone.........After you've pounded it for around a 100 000++ some or a heck of a lot more damage.I kind of lost count after a while.............. (Anyone got a tactic on this one, please mail me).
A positive thing about FFX-2 is that you are also not powerplaying as much as in other FF's. It actually takes a lot of levels to do max damage, and most of the dresspheres can't reach 9999 HP or 999 MP, without resorting to some kind of bangle, bracer or something else. The most positive thing is however the New Game Plus option. I really love that. (Am I the only one hating to mate up the monkeys or escorting that Hypello on the Moonflow?)
Of course, even if I like this game, it really has a few downsides. First out is the lack of Auron, he is after all the coolest PLAYABLE character in any FF game (Anyone cooler would be Sephiroth, but he ain't playable by any normal means).
Second of all, I really don't like the way Yuna has changed, seeing as she is a girl who has grown up fearing machine weapons and learning that machines are bad all her entire life, and still she is the one with Gunner as her standard costume... It is a radical change for such an extremely conservative girl that we got to know in FFX. I think Square should have included at least a little on why Yuna chooses guns as her primary weapon, it kind of shows a change in the girl that we as players kind of deserve to know. But it is a fault I can live with. She looks cool with her new look.
The only real complaint I got is Paine. She is, as her name implies, a real Paine. And I am soooooooo glad she doesn't have any more lines than she has. Comments like: "Pre-concert hurt-fest time!" makes me want to roll over and vomit. Thanks God she is the "silent type". Another thing that ticks me of with Paine, is that she tries to hard to be cool. Silent, but cool. Compared to any other FF characters of that stature, she just seems silly. FF7: Vincent, silent and deadly. FF8: Squall, efficient, silent withdrawn. FF8: Quistis, Quiet, calm, always analyzing and coming out on top. FF9: Amarant, the bounty hunter in the party, the guy who works alone. FF10: Auron, need I say more. FF10: Lulu, now this is a silent type of woman who can give you the willies just by looking at you. Compared to this bunch Paine just comes out as a really weak silent type of character. And she says a lot of really stupid things when she actually talks. I know it isn't fair to compare her to the other characters like this, but I think Square would have been better off with a different character as the 3rd person of the group.
My last complaint is that YOU DON'T HAVE ANY AEONS!!!!!!!!
All in all the game "borrows" off from the other FF's a lot, and yet it is intriguing and innovative, because it features old stuff and mixes it with a lot of new concepts and original ideas, on a general level I am pleased with the game, and I enjoy it, and you can play the game more than once without growing bored. And the constant quest for 100% makes you do it over and over again, out of plain old schooled stubborness. (Myself at 97%, and trying as much as I can to get the rest) There's a lot of Charlies Angels feel about the game, but the main characters are not without faults themselves, and sometimes I sit wondering if Brother is not the brains behind the group after all. But the game is still fun and has so far captivated me for several hours of gameplay.
To sum it up. The game got a lot of ups and downs, a lot of nice parts in it, but a heck of a lot of cheesy ones as well. It is overall a good game, but nothing revolutionary for a FF game. It is a must have game for die hard Rikku fans, and a good buy for anyone wanting to pass time until FF XI or FF XII. If you don't expect a fantastic great game that will blow the wind from your lungs, then you will get positively surprised, however if you expect the game to be fantastic and revolutionary, then be prepared for a let down.
But all in all, the game is good, and it will make you play over and over again, just don't expect a FF VII.

| FFX-2 IS Very Long and VERY Challenging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | Erik Macias from Houston,TX in USA says (26/Mar/2004): | I have read many reviews of the game and a lot of people say it is very easy and it is very short.Well, they are wrong.If you go and do what i did to get everything there is in the game like getting 99 Iron Dukes, then you will probably have to play at least 200+ hours.You get Iron Duke by defeating Trema,the hardest boss in any FF game.I had max strength and luck just to deal a measly 350 damage.I have played many FF games and no boss in them were as hard as in the Via Infinito in FFX-2.I finished FFX without moving in the spere grid, in fact, to me it was easier than FFX-2.Even harder than the monster arena. The game in my opinion is hard because you are way more limited than in FFX.I have two files of the game saved and and i have over a hundred in one and over 267 hours in the other.I only have 97% complete but i alredy know what im missing which i just a scene were Barkeep introduces he's new girl to Brother.I think that the people that say the game is easy aren't telling the truth because they are probably going through the game doing only hot spot missions.I have 99 Cat Nips and i equipped all the girls with one to deal 9999 damage combined with Trigger Happy and i still get killed by Paragon, another hard ass boss in the Via Infinito.Im just trying to say that the game is very long and extremely difficult to get 100%!!!!!!!!!But it is still worth the 49 dollars i spend, i would buy it even if it cost 99 dollars.Like i said on another review of mine i give the game a 10/10 on everything, nah, i'll give it a 100/100!!!!!It is another hit from Square.

| The Best Game on PS2. | | Erik Macias from Houston, TX says (24/Mar/2004): | Final Fantasy X-2 is one of my three favorite games, which are FFVII and FFX.It was beter than FFX to me but exactly equal to FFVII. Many people say that this game sucks but i havent seen a single bad thing in it. It has better graphics than than FFX, but you can bearly notice though, and the sound is more improved.The music doesnt sound sad like with other FF titles and thank god, like someone else said, they took the sphere grid off. I hated that thing. I didnt even get it so i didnt touch it at all. In my opinion, FFX-2 is harder than FFX because it is easier to get max hp and max damage in it. You are more limited in FFX-2 making it almost impossible to do get max stats and hp and all of that, heck, i used a gameshark. One of my favorite things of FFX-2 is the new game+. To make my review short, FFX-2 is the best RPG on PS2!!! I would give it a 10 out of 10 on everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can play the classic game of blitzball and some crazy bug game. The lifespan of this wonderful game will take you into your 60's. the concert yuna plays somewhere about a third of the game is just heartbreaking and thesound is awesome. i bet that all the people who dislikes the game is that they haven't played ffX-2 or any ff game. Another small fallback is that instead of a sphere grid you have clothes whitch it makes a dress - up game. and you get more slothes to put spheres in them - the best one i have fiths 10 spheres init. this game has a fun factor of 8/10
