Its simply THE game to play. RPG fans will dwell in its greatness for years to come... |
| Rob from S-Yorkshire, England says (19/May/2004): |
Final Fantasy X-2 swept across the world on a silver curtain. Ever since it hit the shops I wanted to buy it, mainly because I played FFX. Its the greatest (and first) sequel to storm the FINAL FANTASY series and is the most impressive game I have EVER come across. Not only are the graphics like watching a pure bred DVD... but the sound consumption and the way they compare to each other is strictly amazing. No other game could compare to the wonder that Final Fantasy X-2 is. Ever since playing Final Fantasy (The first) - I was hooked on it. The came FF2 and so on. When FF7 hit the Play-Station... I couldnt leave my bed until it was finished. Now... 14 years and 12 productions later... From FINAL FANTASY right through to FINAL FANTASY X-2, I still remain amazed at the progress in graphical enhancements, sound upgrades and motion sequels. No other game could ever rival FFX-2...
The story line is all based on Final Fantasy X - Yuna is destined to find Tidus through searching for Spheres found all over Spira... it all started when Yuna saw a sphere from Rikku of a man caged in, who looks JUST like Tidus. Later they find that this guy is actually called "SHUYIN" - the lover of "LENNE". Yuna is now involved somehow to these two individuals from the past by a "DRESS SPHERE" ("Songstress") that belonged to LENNE over a thousand years ago. Now, the tale that is FFX-2 is revolved around SHUYIN AND LENNE & YUNA AND TIDUS' ordeal od searching for eachother.
If you aint got FFX-2, buy it.

FFX-2 is actually a really good game |
| Kit De Luca from USA says (11/Jul/2004): |
Okay,in my opinion I loved this game! (Even though I'm a girl) A lot of guys didn't like FFX-2 because they said it's a "Charlie's Angels rip-off."
I got my boyfriend into FFX and he really liked it! But then,he got FFX-2 and I rented it. He said that it was really gay and he wouldn't play it anymore because Yuna didn't find Tidus in the end. Well, if you played it right you would know that Yuna DOES find Tidus in the end. (You have to play it through a few times to get different endings)
I've only played it once and I already know that I'm going to buy it. I highly, highly, highly reccomend EVERYONE to play this game,it is awesome! The graphics are amazing, the battle style is challenging,I love the story. Finally, an FF game that doesn't just have tiny little tidbits of romance! This IS a romance game! I know,I know, romance doesn't really appeal to most guys. (I'm saying most NOT all. There are some guys out there who like romance and we girls love you for it!!!)
I love how Yuna does the concert, the graphics for that was just beautiful. The lyrics really were awesome!! I kept watching that movie sphere over and over and over I liked it so much! I admit that I cried at the end of FFX AND I cried at the end of FFX-2,because I really wanted Yuna to find Tidus so that they could be together. (I've heard about this "perfect ending" though,so I'm working towards that)
Well, that's about all I have to say about this game other than the fact that anyone who thinks this game is stupid or gay or anything like that needs a reality check! This is an AMAZING game!

I think they could have done better..... |
| Ben says (28/Nov/2003): |
This game has an okay plot. But the game all around is good, the the game is somewhat "girly" at the beginning. But it evens out. I was so hooked on FFX that I had to get this game. It was worth the time I spent I also urge you ot to play this game until you play ffx or you won't understand a lot. If you have played ffx get this game immediatly. It was highly easy for an experienced gamer. But all around I give this game a nine.

Not for an FF purist. |
| Chris M from Newcastle, UK says (31/Jul/2003): |
This game, in my opinion, is definitely better than FFX, but not by too much. It tries out many new systems, such as the Dress Spheres, which add variety, and the Chain Attack system, which makes a change from people standing around doing nothing while others are attacking. The CG sequence at the beginning is one of the best and most entertaining one I've ever seen in a game, and the integration of singing into the game, including the singer dress sphere, gives it a much more modern edge. I love the characters Yuna, Rikku and Paine, and their designs and animation sequences are vincredibly realistic.

Awsome |
| Milskmaster from Michigan says (20/Nov/2003): |
I think that FF X-2 is an awsome game. I feel that this game is more of a challenge, and like how you can skip through those long movies. I like how you can fight in doubles and the way you learn abilities is a challenge and much better than that damn sphere gird. Overall, FF X was good, but FF X-2 is much better.

FF's are great! |
| Auron from New York says (24/Dec/2003): |
FF7 greatest game ever! ff8 completly sucked, same with ff9. But now ff10 and ff10-2 deff. two games to be bought for a ps2 collection. ff10-2 is great because it copys spira and doesnt change much so the gameplay rolls easily especially if you've played ff10. Tidus was one of my favorite characters and i like how Yuna is trying to find him but finds someone like him from a 1000 years ago. The job system is cool and i like how you can change what you want to be in the battle without having a character permentally being a specefic thing. The song that Yuna sings kicks a$$. I gave it a 9 and not a 10 because its a little too girlie for me but people everywhere should deff. buy this game. it rocks!

ffx-2 easy |
| Justin from (Mississauga) Canada says (27/Dec/2003): |
right now i am in chapter 5.. and mastered only the white mage/gunner/warrior ..its just to hard to spend repeated amount of time to battling to master the dress spheres.. and is there anything special you do when a chocobo comes into battle? IF SO CAN YOU EMAIL ME AND NOTIFY ME. IM AT ABOUT LEVEL 57 FOR YUNA AT THE BEGINNING OF CHAPTER 5 is that good? this game has many obstacles and difficulties an example of this is that you have to finish the game at 100% to get the special ending. im not into those mini games because i dont get half of it.
|
awesome game! |
| Adam from VA, USA says (29/Dec/2003): |
I think this game rox! The way to battle rox and it brings bak old memorys of FFX... Im stuk at Besaid trying to find Wakka but ive got my peeps up to lvl 10, so i can own all with my warrior (paine) and my two gunners (yuna, rikku). The way they rebuilt kilika is so awesome! The graffics are only a bit upgraded from ffx but they barely ever have the "good graffic" parts like from ffx but they did have one from the very begging. I luv this game and if possible, could sum1 post something helping me or at least e-mail me...

Final Fantasy X-2 is not for everyone, but its still awesome. |
| Dragonfreak from Ponca City, Oklahoma, USA says (29/Dec/2003): |
Alright, I'll admit, this game is about as manly as a purple triangle, as if that really matters. FFX2 is a good game, I suggest that you buy FFX first, just to get the whole feel of it you know? Whether or not you do this is a good addition to Final Fantasy games everywhere it has a good plot, good characters, funny characters, a HIGH difficulty level for those that have little FF experience, okay for the rest, and three HOT chicks as main characters, what else do you need? I gave it an eight, because the game could be better, the music is not so great, the graphics were nice though, however I found the overall flow of the game kind of poor.

Only the best will do |
| Nekokaburi from Oceanside, Ca. USA says (22/Jan/2004): |
After having played every Final Fantasy game ever produced, Final Fantasy X-2 is one of the best around. If you slow down and examine the game closely you should find that they incorporated every best aspect of the ten predecesors and the improved upon them. As to remarks about square-unix stealing the leveling up design from Kingdom Hearts, I would remind you that Leveling up has been around for years, and even Final Fantasy I had this ability. It has just returned to the game. A helpful hint for you guys trying to level up all your dress spheres is to use a white mage in lesser battles. Her abilities give ap points to the team and happen quickly. Your team should have at least 3 dress sheres a piece maxed out by the start of level two without any unnecessary walking around to level up. Also try to steal a Charm Bangle from Barali. This will allow you to explore without any random encounters.

The Game |
| Why from Tamp,USA says (18/Feb/2004): |
I like the game and I am female. I have been playing the FF games since I was 11. I love them. I don't think FFX-2 was ment to target just the males in the world. And another thing is that the U.S does not make the FF series Japa does. The battle scenes are way better than anything from oter FF game. The way that your Yuna Paine and Rikku can learn white, black and other magic powers in the game is better than other FF game. Them taking out Blitzball where you can actually play it just wrong! Way wrong! I love Blitzball! But I guess Spear Break is okay for right now.

| Matt from New York says (22/Feb/2004): |
Well, in my opinion this is a reeally great game. I really think that most of the other reviews are based mostly on other peoples opinions(no offence). I have 2 brothers, Steve and Jason. All of us like this game. We think its a great game. Even though we all like it we all stated our opinions. I think that the game was really easy. Some of my friends are saying "Yo Matt, why do u like that game? its an exact copy of Kingdom Hearts". They say oh they copied tidus from this and wakka from that, they copied the battle sys. Well, its not copied if anyone copied it was Kindom Hearts. That kind of battle sys was from ff8(the crappiest FF ive ever played) and ff7(good game but bad graphics(Psst, its old). well anyway i gave this a 9 instead of 10 becuase, 1. its 2 ez 2. they should have more characters and 3.it has a ez battle sys, that meaning u could practicly kill anything with a few potions and ur basic att.

The Best Game on PS2. |
| Erik Macias from Houston, TX says (24/Mar/2004): |
Final Fantasy X-2 is one of my three favorite games, which are FFVII and FFX.It was beter than FFX to me but exactly equal to FFVII. Many people say that this game sucks but i havent seen a single bad thing in it. It has better graphics than than FFX, but you can bearly notice though, and the sound is more improved. The music doesnt sound sad like with other FF titles and thank god, like someone else said, they took the sphere grid off. I hated that thing. I didnt even get it so i didnt touch it at all. In my opinion, FFX-2 is harder than FFX because it is easier to get max hp and max damage in it. You are more limited in FFX-2 making it almost impossible to do get max stats and hp and all of that, heck, i used a gameshark. One of my favorite things of FFX-2 is the new game+. To make my review short, FFX-2 is the best RPG on PS2!!! I would give it a 10 out of 10 on everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

One time isn't enough... |
| Ayrlyn from PA says (7/Jun/2004): |
I was sort of iffy about buying the game. Although I know most people out there liked ten, I found the voice overs to be sort of bleagh, and the two main characters a farce.
Ten two, at first, DOES look really girly (and this says a lot considering I AM a girl). But don't let that throw you. I'm tired of guys saying 'oh but it's only girls!' Go cry about it. Know how WE'VE all been waiting for a female lead character? That doesn't make it stupid. YES the translation (I.E. dressspehre) is not so great. Think of it as Class Sphere instead and out goes half of your complaints.
For those of you who say that FF is all about sphere grids and a waiting batlle system: 1. TEN had the spheregrid. No other 3d FF I've played ever had that. Think before you talk. 2. You CAN make X-2 wait if you want. Again, the atb was around well before ten 2.
The battle system is a mix of 9, 8, and in a way, seven. The ability up points from battle strongly remind me of the abilities you learned from weapons in nine. The gunner dresssphere is like the gunblade in ff 8. Seven is just a casual similarity.
The fact that there are only three characters at first bored me. 3? Pheh. But it turns out to be useful- no switching aroun and lazing off with two or three lowe level characters you find out are crucial later on. (In FF7 I had cloud aeris and red XIII leveled up. When they took out cloud and aeris in a short time, I was screwed.)
If it only takes you 15 hours to beat it, it's not because YOU are fast or the game is short, it's because you didn't do the highly important (not required) and engaging sidequests.
Overall- play this game through a few times. The guy who said 'you don't find tidus? What a rip!' didn't play it through right. There are THREE endings people, 3 which means that when you don't get Tidus, it's all your fault. (hehe I got him baaaack :-P)
Please note: When you first beat the game, wait until after all the credits to get the new game plus. You keep all your old money, abilities, spheres, AND percent. Cool eh? And oaka only asks for 1k instead of 100k the 2nd time through.
Mail me if you need some help. If I don't know, I'll find someone who does :) (And don't bug me. I'll bug you back ;) )

Battle System |
| Xipheria from McG, IA, US. says (24/Jan/2004): |
Most people complain that the battle system was, 'copied' from Kingdom hearts. If you paid attention to any other final fantasy games, FF7 had the same system, proving that it was not based from kingdom hearts, but rather previous final fantasy games. And I doubt that the accessorie system is based off of real women. o_O Certain accessories are for certain things, like in the previous games. Great Idea for Square Enix, but not the best FF |
| A gamer from Kane, USA says (25/Feb/2004): |
Final Fantasy X-2 was a great idea for Square, as it was the first sequel to any of their games (which, let's face it...we all wanted to see more of), and I love the idea of the multiple endings and New Game Plus Data option. This seems to be one of the biggest factors in my high review of the game, since the playability factor goes way up. However, the story was a bit confusing unless you've played FFX, and at times it was a bit cheesey. The dialogue needed a bit more consideration, and the lack of CG scenes was disappointing after the multitude in FFX. And for some reason, I thought that Lenne's voice actor was a bit to robust for her personality.
But all in all, I think it was a great game...not aimed at a particular sex, as previously said (I mean, really....half naked girls?? The search for a long, lost love?? It's a toss up....they were aiming at everyone). It was a successful first attempt at a sequel. Congrats, Square.
FFVII is still my favorite storyline(looking forward to the CG DVD: Advent Children coming out soon), FFVIII had the best theme song, FFIX had the worst reputation, and FFX had Tidus...and I love him. :p

Final Fantasy Games Just Keep Getting Better |
| Will from Birmingham, USA says (11/Mar/2004): |
There's only one bad thing... I'd like to summon the aeons! Otherwise, there's a lot of fun in this game! The different dresspheres, the effects of the garment grids... it all adds to the fun!
The music is great, my favs are the first two sung songs... 1000 Words and Real Emotion. The movies that go with them are great, too.
I am also glad that there are cheats for this. If you just try to finish the game you miss a lot of items. This is good for the new game plus, which lets you play with what you had in your last game. New Game Plus is my most favorite thing about Final Fantasy X-2.
I am in Chapter 5 with 80%, so I am not sure if that is good or not. I think it is good since my friend finished the game with only 32%! I think it is very good that it shows you your percentage.
It could be cooler if Yuna, Rikku, and Paine changed their appearance with their dressphere.
Also, what really angers me, is while you're passing out balloons, they don't even subtract one balloon! What, are they too lazy to get in there and make it a tad more realistic by taking one balloon away?
Oh well, that is my two bits. Hope it helps you!

A perfect and challenging game (can't believe some of you....) |
| Shadow Mog from Maine, USA says (1/Feb/2004): |
This is the peerfect game for anyone. So many side quests and the mission setup is splendid. Definatley the most challenging of the ff series. Trema (999999hp, 255str, def, mag def, etc...) proves to be the most challenging foe to graze the worlds of fantasy. For those of you who say its easy, I think you're denying the fact that it is extremely difficult. The garment grids rock, give you special bonuses, along with the accessories and friggin awesome dresspheres. The exp system is back, which is the greatest thing ever! Extremely humorous game with a lot of life from the characters. Yuna and Rikku have changed for the better, I might add. They aren't the boring crap faces from X but they are actually living beings now! Whoever plays tyhis game is in for a great surprise. worth the price and maybe even an extra $10! YOu'll love it if you're right in the head... Stunning graphics. (best i've seen) and awesome chain attacks. Other people actually get to move while one is attacking. Realistic!

Not as good as FFX, but still impressive. |
| Cloud from Western Australia, Australia says (16/Mar/2004): |
Final Fantasy X-2 is a fine piece of squaresoft work and did not let down on the good Final fantasy name. Although the game is a lot more Charlies Angles than I would have liked, they brought back the old battle system incresing the rate of battle and the fun factor. Although you are only able to play as 3 characters, the ability to change jobs gives you the ability to access vast arrays of abilities and items. The only disapointment that I could see was the lower amounts of FM sequences than in the first game and the games such as blitzball which is back. Although blitzball was anoying, other mini-games were very fun and could be played for hours on end. In all, the game was very enjoyable and I would recommended it to all who are looking for a great gaming experience or just a good laugh.
