Half Naked Chicks Enuff Said |
| Josher from Hemingway, South Carolina US Of A says (28/Feb/2004): |
Ok To start, some of the cutscenes were pretty crappy, like Yuna singing in the first CG, but graphics are great, and about the battle system, like it matters if it was like Kingdom Hearts, which it wasn't, does not matter b'cus Sqauresoft/Sqaure-Enix had their hand in making that game also. I myself am a HUGE FF fan I've played all of the series even the very first one on Nintendo, And everyone has lived up to my expectations, some ppl say they dont like it b'cus the main characters are girls, its a change and i liked it, but if they would pay attention it isnt completely about Yuna Rikku and Paine. It revolves around everyone from FFX as well, even Wakka, along with a bunch of fresh faces. The sideqeusts are confusing at times, but fun, none the less. The Exp is back and thats a plus, I like the dress spheres b'cus they give u a variety of skills and abilities to learn, for either Yuna Rikku or Paine, not just one weapon that only one of them can use. The people who say this game sux is just mad b'cus they don't appreciate or understand a true FF game. And the fact that it is a seqeul, thats another plus b'cus it was long awaited, some ppl say there isn't enuff cutscenes but if they would ever try talking to Shinra while they see him walking around when they went somewhere, Ex. Kilika Island or Bevelle, anywhere, he sets up a Commsphere, they are used to keep check on the areas, u can talk to Shinra while in the Celcius and watch cutscenes and get helpful information. So all in all, i think they did a great job with this game and need to do seqeuls to some of the older FF's as well.

What a good game |
| Wakka from England says (27/Feb/2004): |
Who ever says this game sucks they are wrong there is a lot of side quests to do and the movie's just rock also the songs on it are awesome and i cant forget great game play and graphics the only down full to this game is the battles are soo easily i think there is only a few really hard bosses but thats it over all its a wicked game and u must but it...blitzball is still on ff10-2 but its more like a manager game which to me is better becaus eits mych harder spearbreak is a another down full to this great game but apart from that its a perfect game for anyone.............if u played ff10 you gotta play this. Oh and by the way the people whos says this games sucks need there head testing all because the main pain are 3 girls does not mean its not a great guy

FFX-2 can kiss my fat yellow A-hole. |
| Spirit from Bad Homburg, Germany says (27/Feb/2004): |
Foremost, I'd like to say this game is pretty damned sad compared to FF9, which isn't even mentioned at all ever since the PS2 came out. And that is really sad because FF9 was WAY better than FFX-2.
Well, I had trouble during Cloister 80, so I'll help y'all with this. The best thing to do is equip one of your characters with catnip, speedbracer (not necessary but it helps) and gunner. Before you enter the battle with Chac, which attacks over 10,000 and petrifies (ribbon will not work!!), have your gunner's HP in the yellow. (But do not save, it will heal you.) Then enter the battle and use the other characters to distract Chac, or do whatever you please (just dont heal the gunner). I equipped the other two characters with Berserker because it has high evasion and counters everything. You can do that if you want. It is a good distraction from the gunner that alwasy chips away at Chac's HP. It all depends on the catnip gunner now. Once it is the gunner's turn, use trigger happy and tap as fast as you can. To destroy Chac should only take about three turns on trigger happy. If you end up dying, just redo it again. It's not hard at all.
For Cloister 100, it's about the same strategy. Except the two other characters should be equipped with valiant lustre, crystal gloves, crstal bangle, and dark knight. You need high defense and a lot of HP when you fight trema who follows right after the Omega thing. You won't be able to heal after Omega. Destroy the Omega, which should take about one or two turns with trigger happy. Once you ensue battle with trema, have the dark knights ready on items, such as phoenix down and megaphoenix. Have them cast hast and protect. And leave the gunner to do her job while they keep throwing phoenix in the air. Stock up becuase you should keep throwing it even if no one is dead. It helps because once a person dies, they would be revived immediately without the wait down to pull it out. Overall, survive and chip away as fast as you can. This battle is the battle of luck and speed. so
Good luck and godspeed.

Great Idea for Square Enix, but not the best FF |
| A gamer from Kane, USA says (25/Feb/2004): |
Final Fantasy X-2 was a great idea for Square, as it was the first sequel to any of their games (which, let's face it...we all wanted to see more of), and I love the idea of the multiple endings and New Game Plus Data option. This seems to be one of the biggest factors in my high review of the game, since the playability factor goes way up. However, the story was a bit confusing unless you've played FFX, and at times it was a bit cheesey. The dialogue needed a bit more consideration, and the lack of CG scenes was disappointing after the multitude in FFX. And for some reason, I thought that Lenne's voice actor was a bit to robust for her personality.
But all in all, I think it was a great game...not aimed at a particular sex, as previously said (I mean, really....half naked girls?? The search for a long, lost love?? It's a toss up....they were aiming at everyone). It was a successful first attempt at a sequel. Congrats, Square.
FFVII is still my favorite storyline(looking forward to the CG DVD: Advent Children coming out soon), FFVIII had the best theme song, FFIX had the worst reputation, and FFX had Tidus...and I love him. :p

just not a good game |
| clouds girl from U.S.A virginia says (25/Feb/2004): |
OMG i dont kno how they could ruin such a good game as ff 10 is i felt like crying yuna acts nothing the same and i loved her rikku shes ok they mad her cutter and she deserves it shes silly and now paine that butch lesbian i do like 1 thing about it it had one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard of corse i am speaking of "1000 words" then they went and ruined it at the end of the game during the credits oh well nothin good last for long. oh the story sucks too this game just wrong all around play it if u must but dont exect to much all yhe commercials make it good but they r foolin u dont fall for it!!!! concider that fair warning.and i dont like the whole missino thing they send on things that r not ever important and have nothing to do wit ne thing soo it takes a while to get to a good part in this game
|
probably the best battle system in the FF series |
| Trowa from England says (23/Feb/2004): |
yeah it maybe all girls but wakka is a father to lulu's baby so they both cant play, kimhari is the ronso boss, Auron can now rest in peace, and HE...she is hopeing to find so its Yuna's story and i dont thinbk its a girls game beacuse i cannot simply think a average girl can understand it but the music isnt so good. this game is 1 of the coolest FF games i have played the worse is FF9 and 3 million copies sold so far (not including the europe copies) i think FFX-2 is doin very well
|
I think its great! |
| knighty from england says (23/Feb/2004): |
I just read the review from Lisa! Im male and I didnt think that it was aimed at a female audience! Yeh i feel that it is completely different from other final fantasy games but the difference is what makes it unique and special and keeps me playing! Dressspheres were an idea to rival the sphere gird and the garment grids too! The characters maybe female but replace them with male characters which act the same i feel square would have acheived the same effect except the fact that woman express their feelings more and females like Rikku make it all worth while! And u got to admitt- their pretty good looking for virtual characters! Rikku is a class character and so are Yuna and Paine! And there ARE male characters too! Theres the other gullwings like buddy and brother and Shinra and then you also get nooj and the othjer leaders! The only other main female character other than yuna, paine and rikku are lulu and leblanc! and id jus like to take this moment to say this game is pure genius to even rival me!!! its grrrrrrrrrrr8

| Matt from New York says (22/Feb/2004): |
Well, in my opinion this is a reeally great game. I really think that most of the other reviews are based mostly on other peoples opinions(no offence). I have 2 brothers, Steve and Jason. All of us like this game. We think its a great game. Even though we all like it we all stated our opinions. I think that the game was really easy. Some of my friends are saying "Yo Matt, why do u like that game? its an exact copy of Kingdom Hearts". They say oh they copied tidus from this and wakka from that, they copied the battle sys. Well, its not copied if anyone copied it was Kindom Hearts. That kind of battle sys was from ff8(the crappiest FF ive ever played) and ff7(good game but bad graphics(Psst, its old). well anyway i gave this a 9 instead of 10 becuase, 1. its 2 ez 2. they should have more characters and 3.it has a ez battle sys, that meaning u could practicly kill anything with a few potions and ur basic att.

100% is impossible |
| ZPac from hayward,ca,usa says (22/Feb/2004): |
First of all id like to say that the previous FF's are much better and this new guy sucks ass at what he does, i mean have you seen ff11. Second of all the retard who wrote the frikin guide is an absolute idiot. How the hell am i goin to get 100% is you tell me what to do after the fact, its not like i can go back in time and redo what should have been done in the first place and not after. I really am frickin mad right now cause i have to go back and play this damn game over again just to attemot and get 100%. I mean wtf the walkthrough is supposed to be a walkthrough and not an oops you were supposed to do that but we decided not till tell you until it was too late.....I am really irritated and i hope to god that these morons dont mess up ff7 when the new ff7 advent children comes ouy. ff7 has always been my favorite and i swear if they reduce it to the level of ffx-2 like they did ffx-2 id have to make my own ff's from now on. JEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worse than X |
| HelOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Out There!!!! says (21/Feb/2004): |
The FRiggin problem with this game is that if u do not complete the game in 100% u don't get to see the real ending . Some people may not know this but in FFX, the Square Enix USA cut off the most vital part that will pique your curiosity. The Jap ending first showed wakka and yuna. She was practicing to hold the brath. she can hold for 2 minutes and 20-odd secs. i think someone showed a sphere of Tidus bieng locked up in a watery place to Yuna and if i'm right, she ran off.

Lamest FF game ever created. |
| Lisa from Tuscany says (21/Feb/2004): |
I believe it's safe for me to say that FFX-2 is one of the lamest games ever created. I can see that this game is targeted toward the female audience but how can game-creators assumes girls so shallow? I played from FF8 (because it was my first PS game) to bow, except 11 for fear of a virus. I even played FF tactics on the gameboy advance sp. And I enjoyed them all just the same because of the stradegy and quality music and storyline. If game creators wanted to attract more audience, then stick to what they know best. Because I find this game inefficient, offensively girlly, and annoying. What, you think by making the lead character a girl with a a couple of lame dresspheres is gonna be quality work? And what I don't understand is why they would limit the power to spheres? Because it makes you weak despite your level. And what is really annoying - beside Yuna and thate damned blue sarong 'cause I've hated her since FF10 - are the cloisters. What is the point of the ribbon and the hero drink when at cloister 80 the damned snake can still petrify and kill you? And why is it that the highest your HP can go is 9999 when the snake attacks at 60,000? So, I say... What is this game really trying to say about women????? Least to say, squaresoft will be gettin a very heated letter from a very insulted fan, NAACP, and PETA. I hate this game that much.

overall its a good and fun game to play with awesome main cut scenes |
| Ricki from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia says (20/Feb/2004): |
Personally I am not a big fan of final fantasy ... however i do enjoy playing ff8-ffx-ffx-2...coz they're more realistic and has more attractive and life like characters, compared to the legowy cartoon like weird character features of other previous ff games with rediculous outfits + hair... but hey u don't have to agree wit me, its just my bias point of view hehe.. ffx-2 i guess has improved in the movie sequences and the characters definately have alot of personality especially yuna and Rikku which is good 'I luv paine'...the story line is not the best but i quite enjoyed it, however it would be even better if they didn't focus on too much about yuna and tidus's hectic love.. duh'we already know about it! also the fact that everything evolves around yuna like she's the hero well'she didn't defeat sin by herself'thats 4 sure..instead they should focus more on other characters aswell..like cough' Rikku and Gippal.. coz there is definately chemistry between tha 2... and also looking into more detail about paine's relations with the 3 leaders...'flash back scenes' I don't like the fact that you can only play 3 characters in the whole game it kinda well sucked..they could at least added some more playable characters... or even better play as shuyin in the past as well as other past characters in his voyage to save lenne, like lagoona in ff8..ooh yeah and i hate the fact that wakka and lulu and other characters in previous ffx is wearing the same clothes...is it that hard to change there clothes ... well apart from that everything else is perfect i love the new battle system ...the ppls who thinks that the game is too short.. is wrong because there r side quests in every chapter'mission completes'..each revealing more storyline..
well you dont have to agree with me but thats my opinion...

Death to Real Time. |
| bill from hartford, usa says (19/Feb/2004): |
Decent but not even close FFX. The ladies (they are supposed to be in their twenties) act at times like middle schoolers. It is supposedly geared to females but everything in Spira seems male dominated to me. New Yevon, The Youth League, The Machine Faction, even the Celsius are run by men. The only thing operated by a female is the Leblanc Syndicate, and that is treated as a joke. The job system is laughable. Just because I change my suit when I get home, doesn't mean I suddenly forget how to close a deal and do a quote. Conversely, when I'm in a suit I don't forget how to play baseball or do an oil change.
Oh, and this battle system PUH--LEASE! This is supposed to be a fantasy game. If we wanted realism in the battles, then REALISTICALLY, when Angra Mainyu shows up, you RUN LIKE HELL, and call in some howitzers and an airstrike, you don't stand there and become roadkill. Just a thought.

The Game |
| Why from Tamp,USA says (18/Feb/2004): |
I like the game and I am female. I have been playing the FF games since I was 11. I love them. I don't think FFX-2 was ment to target just the males in the world. And another thing is that the U.S does not make the FF series Japa does. The battle scenes are way better than anything from oter FF game. The way that your Yuna Paine and Rikku can learn white, black and other magic powers in the game is better than other FF game. Them taking out Blitzball where you can actually play it just wrong! Way wrong! I love Blitzball! But I guess Spear Break is okay for right now.

Not as Good as the rest |
| A gamer from Syracuse, NY says (15/Feb/2004): |
I have played Final Fantasy X2 three times to get the "perfect ending" and I must say the guy who wrote the walkthrough is a moron. At least five things in the first chapter alone are wrong not to mention the fact that important (percentage events) are given when it's already too late to do them. I didn't sit down and read the walkthrough before playing, it's not a book, it's a walkthrough.
I am female and this was NOT targeted toward me at all. I understand that some of you guys think the girly new look of the game was to drive in a new audiance but I disagree. If I want to see females dressed like tramps I can go to the mall on a Saturday night. Remember Charlie's Angels had a much bigger MALE following than female. =)
I was upset that the old charaters weren't more involved. I also didn't like the fact that the story line seemed a bit shallow and lame compared to the rest and the music was less than entertaining. I only started talking an interest in the Final Fantasy Series when my boyfriend was playing it...now he can't remove me from our PS2. I just hope they don't hack up Cloud 9 like they did FFX2.
Bad lines, bad music, bad story, bad clothes...yes, I said bad clothes...I am a chick afterall. =)
|
GIRLY? |
| Y.R.P addict from San Salvador, El Salvador says (10/Feb/2004): |
Come on ,are you crazy? the game is not girly,or are you don't get it? all the main characters are female, with less clothes than FFX, (Rikku almost always shows her bikini in the cut scenes, Yuna's move her a** in screen in front of you in the first mission!) what this means? THIS GAME IS FOR PERVERT MEN LIKE ME!!! Those who says It's girly are a bunch of gays!!!
Well to the game... I love it, the battle system rocks, This is a real time battle baby! The story don't say me much but there's a reason FFX-2 International+last mission! The graphics are realy great, the motions of the facials are really improved from the previous ff games. The music are great, but sometimes I miss the classics. well to all of you that don't know if buy this game, I say don't miss it and don't forget to enjoy the show!!!
|
This game rocks! |
| The Streaker from New York,New York says (10/Feb/2004): |
this is one of the awesomest games ever! Great graphics, great gameplay and then yuna and rikku oh yea. I recommend getting this game asap because if you dont then you will miss watching yuna and rikku. so if you wanna watch yuna and rikku BUY THIS GAME!!!!! (and watch for me streaking at the 2010 super bowl) I will throw you down a japanese well and you will die in seven days. lol nah just kidding. Geez why wont you buy this game instead of reading reveiws about it. Its a great game (and also yuna and rikku are what makes it even better) Peace Out!
|
an okay game--it was entaining but did have some drawbacks |
| ditto g from Nashville, TN, USA says (6/Feb/2004): |
The sequel to FFX was a slightly above average RPG that could blow you away with its amazing design but suck you right back into the dark abyss of Flower Power and sugary girl bonding (i.e. not a compliment). but it was still good--certainly was entaining enough. however there were a few questionable attributes (liblanc's massage...?). The game was undoubtedly aimed toward the female audience, which i didn't mind _too_ much, but sometimes the good ol' folks as Square Enix took the Charlie's Angels' 'girl power' theme a bit too far, such as the beginning sequence. To anyone who was looking for a good adventure and were greeted with a Britney Spears promo, it was a definite turn off. However, graphics HAVE improved since its predecessor as well as the battle system, which i almost croaked over. Kudos to S.E. on that at least. I enjoy the original characters that pop up and especially Paine's lil dark and broody past--the name's enough to attract a healthy fan factor. I _especially_ liked how the game adapted to the player's skill level. However, in all honesty, they _could_ have made FFX-2 a _tad_ bit more challenging, but other than that, X-2 is a _very_ good game and worth its price.

NO MOVIE TIME????? |
| Nekokaburi from Oceanside, California says (6/Feb/2004): |
Are you a fool. Final fantasy x-2 has more cut scenes than any other final fantasy yet. Did you even watch the Commshperes??? If you actually play the entire thing then you will find there are a ton of movie scenes. If you are looking for high-defenition graphic cut scenes, then I suppose you would be right they didn't have a ton, just around an hours worth. Whoever thinks that is just plain dumb. Now in order for you to have access to all the scenes make sure you go to every town in chapters 2 and 3 and physically talk to Shinra. He will then place the Commspheres and you will have access to them on his network.
