FF games are still the best!!! | | vivi from Philippines says (4/Jan/2004): | any ff games are cool!! 10 for X2!! the gameplay is cool but i think grphics went down jst a bit....and u always xpect a new battle system...the chicks are cool...the garment grids, the dresspeheres are cool 2...the gunner dresspere is jst wird, its awkward to see yuna carrying guns jst like devil my cry star dante!! but its great any rpg fanatic would play this i cant its better than the 1st one yet....for now i'd say the graphics jst went down a bit, coz i havent finished it yet...and i wish somebody could tell me why Squaresoft changed its name 2 Squareenix or sumthin..........i'll give a ten!!!!!

I enjoy the dress spheres but i cant understand the meaning of the "songdress(or somthing like that)" its useless. This ff is new and refreshing but square could have used a new setting and some good characters...paine is annoying. Well i dont believe there is a problem with the revealing clothing they wear but why cant they have more than 3 party members. They look better and the game play was pretty intense but it was enjoyable in most cases. It was overall the best FF i've ever played, except maybe for FF7 because that was the first one i played. i finnished it by the age of 9 and it was the best game then that i've ever played. Because it had actual 3-d characters and not 2-d like FF1-6. FF10-2 was most like FF7 because of the ATB and the dressspheres where like FF4-5 but not all of then are featured. FF8s graphics were pretty sh!t but the gamplay was good though i never got to finnish it.FF10-2 answered most of my questions (WARNING IF YOU DON'T WHAT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS I SUJUST YOU MISS THIS BIT AND FIND THE BIT AFTER THE 10 HASHMARKS.) any way it is most dissappointing to find out that Yuna doesn't find Tidus because it is the sequal to FF10 and we can find out they find each other or not. but you don't see much of Tidus. ########### OK back to the review over all FF series was the only thing i played when i got one and would not stop until i finnished it. so i rate FF10-2 with a 10/10. sorry if i offended any body with this review.

I would have loved this game more if it was longer...after 4 days of on and off playing i beat it. The better part of that is that you have to do ALL the side quests to truely beat it (i was only at 50% done). The graphics in the game were really impressive also, although i wish there were more. I also liked the songs "Real Emoition" and "1000 Words". The battle system was good, i really liked the fact that its more intense and realistic than some other fianl fantasies.
Over all, i give it a 8 (2 point deducted because Tidus never came back)

I think they should have went in the other direction and did one about Tidus,Jecht,and Auron trying to get out of the Farplane to stop Vegnagun. Graphics were incredible, I hated the D**n job class. If they had done it more like tactics I wouldn't have a prob with it. Also I think this game was made for perverts. I have yet to get all endings but I think they screwed this one up. I think its a Charlie's Angels rippoff. Brother is Charlie and YRP is his angels. Also there were too many sidequests and not enough story. Another thing was you'd think they would mention Jecht, Auron, or Tidus or that Yuna would at least have flashbacks about them. Buy it if you are feeling bold and want to end FFX.

I also hated those games. They were so stupid. And FFX-2 reminded me of those two games. The graphics were superb, and the voice acting got better, but I gave FFX a 12/10... i seriously hated this game. The storyline was dry, and had a simple fly-by plot. it was also a HUGE rip-off of charlie's angels, which i also really hated. i vomitted my whole way through the game. also, my favorite characters - yuna and lulu - were totally screwed over in this game!! lulu should've been a main character as oppsed to Paine, and yuna was so innocent! now shes a slutty whore! and what's up with the guns?! this game belongs in the trash along with FF8 on down. Yes, I ONLY liked FF9 and FF10. their storylines were so complex and great. but this had no storyline. this was a crappy romance novel, and will forever be so. so unless you want to hear about a girl cry about how much she misses a dead guy, dont buy it... and its NOT the drmamatic type of crying... its the THIS IS A CRAPPY ROMANCE NOVEL AND SHE IS A HORRIBLE VOICE-ACTOR TYPE OF CRYING!!

Not only is it the first sequel in the series (which is a bad thing), but it completely ignores the fact that it's a Final Fantasy game. It's like they took Final Fantasy X's world, characters and stuff, and put it in some other game where the ATB sucks, everything is designed for morons, and loyal Final Fantasy (particullarily FFX) fans are given a big punch in the face. No Sphere grib, no proper storyline, a 'turn based' battle sequence which feel more like playing Devil May Cry (without moving), compared to FFX's simple conditional turn-based system where you where aloud to decide what to do. Here are the things in the game:
Gameplay 7/10:
The battles are just as random and the places are pretty much how we left them in FFX. Only when you actually fight, it becomes less of a turn based strategy game and more of an action game where you use menu's to attack. The sphere grid is gone and this time you upgrade them like you did with the Aeons in FFX, put them in a few battles and they'll gain health. The way they learn new moves is strange to, select the move and every battle you do counts towards it, ok... And the overdrives are gone, as are Aeons which really takes the flashiest parts of the battles away. And what's really annoying is that they binned trying to make a decent plot and instead made a my-first-RPG battle system.
Graphics 8/10:
The non-rendered cutscenes in FFX were better then some actuall CG cutscenes in lesser games, as for the CG in FFX, well, the fact you knew it was a video game was the only thing stopping you from thinking it was real. In this however, in all the places CG would have been brilliant, they skipped it and stuck with in-game visuals... genius... the CG at the beggining is decent, but then there's a long gap before you see any more of it. And even then it's still not up there with FFX. Itjust seems so unpolished...
Sound 8/10:
The voice acting is on par with FFX, although a bit hyperactive... although they got rid of the meaty sword strike noice and the magic noises, and replaced them with quieter mimics. Although I can tell they put effort into the noise where they $#< remove me > at ! the gun... To bad you only here it once or twice in the whole game. Oh well...
Lifespan 5/10:
There's a 30-odd hour plot ark in this about Yuna trying to find Tidus... Big deal... The plot isn't anywhere near as well told or deep as Final Fantasy X. Ok, if you played two hour a day, this would take you a fortnight if you were skilled. Although anyone skilled would find this boring. I myself put it down after i got half way through it in a weekend (it was rainy and damp out, so I had to find something to do for the gap between getting up and going to the pub) due to the fact the plot bored the bejesus out of me and the ATB system didn't make thing any better.
Verdict 6/10:
Not really recommended for people for the busy mainstream gamers it's aimed at and not for people who play 3 hours a day (or more). So all in all, a bit more Final Fantasy and less trying to make the main characters the FF equivelent of Charlies Angels.
| Better than FFX | | Leo says (24/Apr/2003): | To say the truth I have played the game in japanese version and I was impressed, cause of some graphics fixures, for example in final fantasy x, the characters hair are stiff(not FMV), while in FFX2 it moves while playing and walking, But the bad part I think is that When Yuna jumps (or other character) to an obstacle .................. just see it for your self. I give it 8 for cute charaters

But when you completed a task or side quest it felt good . It realy felt like you were saving the world. Vangnabutthead is just an oversized machina Sin. What the heck is up with chapter 4? All that comm sphere crap about put me to sleep. I have spent $49 on the game, $30 on the srat. guide(LE). And countless magazines for little piss ant clips of info regarding this game. I want my money back.

Right now im on chapter 3. The first chapter was kind of gurlish but it gets better. I definitly reccomend this game to anyone who has playedFF-X, because if u payed attention to it, teh ending made sense. FFx-2 isnt as good as ffX, but for some gamers liek myslef, we have been dying to knwo what heppens NEXT, for the last year.
Some good features are... Great Graphics, Quicket Battkle System, Better Yuna, Nice Story
Bad features...kind of gurlish, musics kind of...sissy btu i wa sable to ignore it, too easy, and i didnt really like the fact that u only got to use 3 people

First of all, I'd like to say the game is actually good. I was positively surprised the first time I completed it. And seeing Rikku again really is cool. She and Auron are the main cool characters from FFX. No denying that. Too bad Auron is gone.....
Anyways, another good thing about FFX-2 is to see the ATB (Active Time Battle, for those who are unfamiliar with FF games) system back again. It creates more dynamic and fastmoving action in combats, even if it is annoying to get pounded by an enemy while trying to select a spell or an item. And one thing I do want to say is, that no matter how many times people tell me the story really is bad, I can't help but disagreeing, even if it can be quite cheesy some times. The story is quite good. (Even if I think Khimari waited a little too long to beat up Garik.) One thing I really like and also hate is the concept of Oversouls. To have extra hard enemies to fight every now and then is cool, but it ain't cool when the boss on level 60 on Via Infinito goes into an oversoul mode, and no matter how many times you try it just kills of your party with a Flare attack that kills everyone.........After you've pounded it for around a 100 000++ some or a heck of a lot more damage.I kind of lost count after a while.............. (Anyone got a tactic on this one, please mail me).
A positive thing about FFX-2 is that you are also not powerplaying as much as in other FF's. It actually takes a lot of levels to do max damage, and most of the dresspheres can't reach 9999 HP or 999 MP, without resorting to some kind of bangle, bracer or something else. The most positive thing is however the New Game Plus option. I really love that. (Am I the only one hating to mate up the monkeys or escorting that Hypello on the Moonflow?)
Of course, even if I like this game, it really has a few downsides. First out is the lack of Auron, he is after all the coolest PLAYABLE character in any FF game (Anyone cooler would be Sephiroth, but he ain't playable by any normal means).
Second of all, I really don't like the way Yuna has changed, seeing as she is a girl who has grown up fearing machine weapons and learning that machines are bad all her entire life, and still she is the one with Gunner as her standard costume... It is a radical change for such an extremely conservative girl that we got to know in FFX. I think Square should have included at least a little on why Yuna chooses guns as her primary weapon, it kind of shows a change in the girl that we as players kind of deserve to know. But it is a fault I can live with. She looks cool with her new look.
The only real complaint I got is Paine. She is, as her name implies, a real Paine. And I am soooooooo glad she doesn't have any more lines than she has. Comments like: "Pre-concert hurt-fest time!" makes me want to roll over and vomit. Thanks God she is the "silent type". Another thing that ticks me of with Paine, is that she tries to hard to be cool. Silent, but cool. Compared to any other FF characters of that stature, she just seems silly. FF7: Vincent, silent and deadly. FF8: Squall, efficient, silent withdrawn. FF8: Quistis, Quiet, calm, always analyzing and coming out on top. FF9: Amarant, the bounty hunter in the party, the guy who works alone. FF10: Auron, need I say more. FF10: Lulu, now this is a silent type of woman who can give you the willies just by looking at you. Compared to this bunch Paine just comes out as a really weak silent type of character. And she says a lot of really stupid things when she actually talks. I know it isn't fair to compare her to the other characters like this, but I think Square would have been better off with a different character as the 3rd person of the group.
My last complaint is that YOU DON'T HAVE ANY AEONS!!!!!!!!
All in all the game "borrows" off from the other FF's a lot, and yet it is intriguing and innovative, because it features old stuff and mixes it with a lot of new concepts and original ideas, on a general level I am pleased with the game, and I enjoy it, and you can play the game more than once without growing bored. And the constant quest for 100% makes you do it over and over again, out of plain old schooled stubborness. (Myself at 97%, and trying as much as I can to get the rest) There's a lot of Charlies Angels feel about the game, but the main characters are not without faults themselves, and sometimes I sit wondering if Brother is not the brains behind the group after all. But the game is still fun and has so far captivated me for several hours of gameplay.
To sum it up. The game got a lot of ups and downs, a lot of nice parts in it, but a heck of a lot of cheesy ones as well. It is overall a good game, but nothing revolutionary for a FF game. It is a must have game for die hard Rikku fans, and a good buy for anyone wanting to pass time until FF XI or FF XII. If you don't expect a fantastic great game that will blow the wind from your lungs, then you will get positively surprised, however if you expect the game to be fantastic and revolutionary, then be prepared for a let down.
But all in all, the game is good, and it will make you play over and over again, just don't expect a FF VII.

The simple answer to this is "NO".
I am a lover of everything Final Fantasy, playing up to twelve hours a day whenever I buy a new one.
Final Fantasy 8 was by far the best, followed by 7, then 10, then 9.
I so enjoyed FFX - the graphics and gameplay were amazing. Completely different to play than all the others, but thats what made it attractive. I spent a total of 120+ hours on FFX and did as many of the little side-quests as I could find without using a walkthru.
So... when FFX2 was released I could not wait!! I had my other half standing ina queue to buy it for me!
The idea of all girls was, at first, a novel idea and seemed good. The way you can choose what you want to be is great, the garment grids are easy to use and left me less confused than the other games.
I finished the game in less than 15 hours.
Obviously I did not do all the side quests(which I am doing now on game plus)but I expected it to be at least a little longer.
To be able to finish a FF game in that time is a real let down. I took a week off work (as I usually do when I get a FF game) and sat about all week with nothing to do.
I must admit that although i am a girl, the barbie style of Yuna, Paine and Rikku is not fun.
I like all the weapons and fights, not singing and dancing.
Overall the game was ok. I still enjoyed it but cant wait for FFXII.
I hope it is a bit better.

The graphics were somewhat clean and smooth, but in a few parts of the game they get really sloppy and choppy (theres this one close-up of Yuna's hands.. and her fingers arent finger's, their blocks). The sound was pretty good for the most part, but in a few cut scenes the voices are really quiet and you can't hear whats being said. Gameplay was really short, I was disappointed in that and I think Square-enix can really improve on that. The game was pretty fun, but the guide is really helpful in order to succeed (I played without it and beat chapter 1,2 and 3 in an hour) Rikku gets annoying, and at first Yuna's running is annoying, but you learn to ignore it. Storyline is really well-put together, I thought the way everything linked together was neat. Ummm.. Some things in the game are really childish and bizarre, and I feel that the game was a little too easy. I suggest you don't buy the game unless you are a hardcore FFX fan, or if it's on sale for like.. $40.
