THis Sucks! Wait for ff12 |
| Maximus from Toronto says (4/Dec/2003): |
I'm a devoted ff fan but after playing this I was truly disappointed. I guess they have lowered the Rating b/c this definitely wasn't aiming at anyone above 18. Though the content of the game was certainly for teenager the character's weren't. By that I mean the girls now look sluttier than ever. Many will say that there's nothing wrong w/ that but those are the ppl who have no grasp on the story. The story seems to be very disconnected from ff10. I mean How could Yuna going from a quiet, shy, fully clothed girl - bust out into this skimpy clad girl w/i 2 years. I like the fact that Square is experimenting - the gameplay is certainly diff w/ mission based structure instead of linear. However, I'm a fan of the classic. I like my RPG to be linear b/c RPG wasn't meant to be replayed. Playing an RPG is like reading a book or watching a movie... u want a story that's consistent and linear. Making it into a mission-based game makes the story choppy and uninteresting. My suggestion - Wait for the 12th installment which is coming in late 2004.
Square Rules but not this one.
Peace

Wow....*Spolier for any that didn't play past the first chapter...* |
| Christian from Philadelphia,PA,USA says (2/Dec/2003): |
I've had FFX-2 since November 25th and all I have to say is wow.I mean all the dress spheres and garment grids and all of the bosses make the game exciting. My favorite dress sphere is Dark Knight. The graphics is the movies are awesome. The only thing I don't like is the Gullwings.I mean if it was just Paine,Rikku and Yuna alone like in FFX.Tidus,Wakka,LuLu,Kimarhi,Yuna,Rikku and Auron didn't have a special name. All except Yuna being the "High Summoner".Overall,FFX-2 is one of my fravorite games. The aeons.......I wasn't expecting them. When Bahamut appeared...it shocked me.Then Valefor and then Ifrit....I think the hardest one that I got up to so far is Yojimbo. There is still the Magus Sisters and Anima(Oh joy..) to get into.I had problems with Ifrit and Yojimbo but they were quite easy when I got Grenades,Artic Winds,Elctro Marbles and Fish Scales.I usualy have Yuna do Assualt in battle to have haste......Overall I definatly recommend FFX-2 for anybody.

Best game of all time? |
| Nick Brissette from Vermont, USA says (1/Dec/2003): |
Final Fantasy is not the best game of all time. The original FFX is the best game of all time. I've played until the second chapter and I must say I am impressed but, I'm it's definitly not the best game of all time. The title is for the original Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy Fashion Plates??? |
| Greg B. from Virginia, MN says (1/Dec/2003): |
I'm well into chapter 3 of the game. What the heck is this? Final Fantasy Fashion Plates?
The story line sucks. Hands down. I was just saying to my wife "I certainly hope that this story pulls together sometime soon!" 10 was considerably better.
OK, now for the nitty-gritty. What the heck is with the battle system? OK, I'm familiar with Active Battle mode. That's fine. But, you wait until your meter charges up, then if you want to cast a spell, you have to wait AGAIN until your spell meter charges up. Then it costs mana. So, you have to wait twice as long to cast a spell.
And I can't even BEGIN to figure out the "Special Dress Spheres". Oh, and how about the equip? OK, I guess since we're playing dress-up, that we can't wear gauntlets, a ring, and earrings at the same time. Sorry, folks, only 2 slots. And you can't change equips in the middle of battle, so you'd better hope that if you're going up against Ifrit, you know in advance so you can put on something to reduce fire damage, otherwise you're hosed. Oh, did I say "Save game often?"
I mean, come on people, one of the tasks I had to do was to give one of the other characters a BACK RUB? And make sure I reached a pleasure score within a certain number of moves????
This game was apparently written by pre-pubescent kids who like seeing girls in different outfits.
Quite frankly, the worst $50 I ever spent.
Shall I go on? Sure, why not. It doesn't matter that I got EVERY Al-bhed primer in 10, you start over in 10-2. It doesn't matter that two thirds of your party SPEAK al-bhed, forget understanding a thing they're saying.
Sorry, I'll take 10 over 10-2 any day. For that matter, I'll take 8 over either of them.

Good Game |
| Shepdawg32989 from Connecticut says (30/Nov/2003): |
This game is no FFX but it still has some great asspects of its own. I didnt really like the whole dancein thing and the dress sphere "songstress" was pretty stupid. However the story line got much better as the story progressed. I havent beatin it yet im at the 5th chapter. Although ome of u r gonna dissagree my fav character is pain. Her sarcastic sence of humor was so funny. Rikku and Yuna were a little to happy go lucky for me. So far my favorite part was when Yuna performs at the thunder Plains (very cool)! Overall I give FFX-2 an 8.

I think they could have done better..... |
| Ben says (28/Nov/2003): |
This game has an okay plot. But the game all around is good, the the game is somewhat "girly" at the beginning. But it evens out. I was so hooked on FFX that I had to get this game. It was worth the time I spent I also urge you ot to play this game until you play ffx or you won't understand a lot. If you have played ffx get this game immediatly. It was highly easy for an experienced gamer. But all around I give this game a nine.

Good but easy.. |
| Nicolle DeCoppel from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada says (26/Nov/2003): |
Recently ffx-2 came out so i rented it. The story line is pretty dry at first but later on it picks up. I would have loved this game more if it was longer...after 4 days of on and off playing i beat it. The better part of that is that you have to do ALL the side quests to truely beat it (i was only at 50% done). The graphics in the game were really impressive also, although i wish there were more. I also liked the songs "Real Emoition" and "1000 Words". The battle system was good, i really liked the fact that its more intense and realistic than some other fianl fantasies.
Over all, i give it a 8 (2 point deducted because Tidus never came back)

Seperate but equal |
| Jake from Honolulu, HI says (25/Nov/2003): |
This game isn't supposed to be a clone of its predecessor. It's a stand alone game that continues the plot elements from FFX. If you want to hang out with Yuna and Rikku again and revisit old friends and places, you'll enjoy it simply for the nostalgia value. On its own merits, however, the game does feature a streamlined and improved battle system with more options for character customization, and a non-linear story line that allows you to play missions as you choose (theoretically). Realistically, however, if you want to get the 100% completion special ending (and who, putting the time into playing a game like this, wouldn't want the special ending) it requires an almost religious dedication to doing things in a precise order that allows little deviation. My first time through, I used a hint guide and still only managed 76% completion. Great game, improved graphics, but I knocked a star off for what I think is an unfair way of dictating the ending. You don't call it "free exploration" and "nonlinear gameplay" if you can't truly win without following a plotline with obsessive detail.

3 girls kicking A$@ |
| Johnny Lee from Millbrae, California, US says (24/Nov/2003): |
This is a must have game for any RPG ps2 gamer. A sequel of FFX. I just got the game and ive been playing none stop. Squaresofts graphics is one of the things that makes their games so good. there are only 3 characters to use instead of... i think 7 characters in FFX. they are Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. this game is great with its new battling system. it's fun till u get stuck then u'll have to do the same thhing over and over. even though it gets frustrating sometimes, this game is one of the best game in my opinion.
too bad i got FFX too late and wasn't able to finish it before I bought the sequel Final FantasyX-2.

Good graphics and cool characters |
| anominious from California, USA says (24/Nov/2003): |
i like the classic ff method like in ff7, but the whole attack screen in ffx really helped. i think that with the new fighting methods a little too much of a change. I love the characters but i really would like it more if lulu stayed single. it should also have a real total world map like used in ff7, i didnt really like the one in ffx much, because the characters couldnt move freely it definatly has some of the best movies ive ever seen in a game before

the second best game that i have ever played |
| matt brinningstaull from saranac, USA says (24/Nov/2003): |
this game is the baddest of them all (second to final fantasy X)
i may have only been playing it for about 35 hours but i really love this game it has some much to do in it. i just don't agree with the battle phases. i really don't agree with active battle though. i mean what was wrong with the turns thing?

better than FF10 |
| Leon Fisk says (23/Nov/2003): |
Great game!!!! It's far soperiour to any other finl fantacy' evan 10. The overall gameplay is awsome. Its videos Graffics are the best that Ive ever seen. Has a great plot line and situations. And the battle mode is the best that final fantacy has ever cooked up. Say bye bye to the sphear grid dressrobes are in.
|
Only just started playing it (1 hour into it) |
| sarah says (21/Nov/2003): |
So far the game is great, the battles are fast, but you can easily see what you are doing. The dress sphere things are cool, but when you are chooosing what one you want enimies can still attack. Also, this is the first ff game I have played where you start out choosing where YOU want to go, none of the linear stuff in ff x. The jumping and climbing work really smooth, except sometimes if you dont press the 'o' button at the right time, Yuna wont jump (she will look like she is going to fall), but its not that bad. I cant wait to play it more today...
|
Awsome |
| Milskmaster from Michigan says (20/Nov/2003): |
I think that FF X-2 is an awsome game. I feel that this game is more of a challenge, and like how you can skip through those long movies. I like how you can fight in doubles and the way you learn abilities is a challenge and much better than that damn sphere gird. Overall, FF X was good, but FF X-2 is much better.

Taking soo long to come out! |
| bebeqt143 from british columbia, canada says (19/Nov/2003): |

FFX is also my fave so far, and the sequel should be pretty good also!! im giving it 10 coz i jus like FFx hah!

Best Final Fantasy Ever? |
| Ryan from Orem,utah says (16/Nov/2003): |
Wow, that's the only word that comes to mind when i think of this game. First of all the battle system is by far the best out of any final fantasy. The characters are great, the story is excellent, and it's a sequel to one of if not the best final fantasy's around. What's not to love, I give it a 10 out of 10.
But if I could, I would have given it a 20 out of 10 but that's not possible. bye!

Good for the bubbly and horny FF fan, unsure for older fans. |
| Xephon from El Monte, CA, USA says (15/Nov/2003): |
Is it just me or is Square filled with horny people? I'm just angry and sad that Square would sttop so low to use THIS much sex appeal when Final Fantasy doesn' need it. Some of the ideas like Yuna going in disguise so no one would recognize her is just stupid! Wearing skimpier clothings isn't going to hide your identity. I like the job classes since it reminds me much of FFtactics. Bah, sorry for being a bit purist. Check it out if you like its style.

This is the FF sequel I've and you have been waiting for |
| Nick Filipas from Oregon, USA says (15/Nov/2003): |
Final Fantasy X-2, is one of those games, where you have the power to do anything you want, and have plain old FUN. I mean, FFX-2 is so fun to play, I never want to stop playing. I know, FFX was cool, but lets say, FFX-2 has 50% more action, and gameplay freedom. I'm talking about, jumping, and climbing, and also add in that sassy new Dressing Sphere, that lets new change into awsome costumes, like Warrior, Black Mage, Thief, Lady Luck and more. I like Rikku's Black Mage costume, and Yuna's Thief. Plus, the girls, are the coolest. I didn't like Yuna in FFX because, she was always quiet, and didn't say much, and plus, Rikku didn't look hot too. But...man, now Yuna and Rikku, are sassy, beautiful, and sexy. But, Paine sucks and looks like a goth girl. And even LeBlanc, and Dona, look hot as well. FFX-2 is a awsome fast paced game. In FFX, the battles were SO SLOW. Now, I hit my Duel Shock more often, because the gameplay is so fast action. Better go with ATB (Action Time Battle system) And what about the Aeons? No need to worry, and I'll even let you on a little info....On one level in FFX-2 (I won't say) you'll see a super-cool-awsome teaser of an old Aeon. But, the Costume-Changes make up for it. Overall, read this review, play it, buy it, quit talking to yourself about "Should I?" because you should. And have fun.

Holy SHIT This is The BEST FF |
| TYDUS from Toronto, Ontario, Canada says (5/Nov/2003): |
Well It's Not The Very Best But Thats Cuz There ALL Tha Best. I Loved This And I'd Buy All The Versions 50 Times EACH! I WOULD Definatley Buy This Even If Your Not Looking For Another FF W/ Another Story. I Am Going To Buy The International Version so i can capture monsters and then lvl em up i can also get another dress sphers
|
WHY ARE YOU STANDING THERE? BUY THIS WHEN ITS OUT IN THE US!!! |
| Nick Filipas from Oregon, USA says (5/Nov/2003): |
Holy crap! FFX-2 is the ONLY GOOD FF GAME THERE IS! Sure there was FFX, but if your looking for a fast paced storyline, and girls in wild, sexy clothes...then you've hit the jackpot! FFX-2 is little better then FFX, because...well, your hot girls, and can change costumes during battle, and I like the Time Battle Mode, because in FFX, I wanted to have short amount of time when battling. I even left to go to the bathroom while batting, and when I was done, nothing happened. YA TIME! I also like Yuna now, because in FFX, she was quiet, and didn't have that girl-next-door mood, but now, she's a shooting sexy lady! And so is Rikku. But it seems that she's wearing less and less clothes. But theres nothing wrong with that! And to bad you can't summon aeons again. Oh well, they always die so SAYOUNARA! Even though, I played a FFX-2 demo, this game is the best Final Fantasy game out there. So go and pre-order FFX-2 before its too late! I have, and I know that it will be sitting, waiting for me. And it will be waiting for you. Please! Pre-order NOW!
