The best keeps getting better. | | Dre from Williamsport,PA says (18/Aug/2003): | I was like everybody else in the universe, I had to play Madden 2004 as soon as it came out. I gotta say it is a bit disappointing, sike no it aint. I mean I've been playin Madden for years and it always has me stuck playin this year is no different. The gameplay is great but if your not playing a friend you will get real good real fast the computer is tougher than a boiled Timberland. The playmaker controll is great for blocking, passing, rushin but on defense it could use a little work. Only because you would expect to do more because of all the options you have on offense. I always liked Madden for its franchises and A.I. it makes you play better when you have a real challenge playin the computer. This year the A.I. is tough you cant just start launchin prayers like before you have to play smart. Screens and short routes under the coverage work wonders for you and depending on how you perform effects your players development more than ever. The new training camp is great you do the mini camp drills before the pre season to help develop players too. If you are good at these you can develop those rookies faster than ever keeping your dynasty going. The supposedly better create a player is weak, 2002 and 2003's both were better to me. Tattos and helmets try to make up for poor player faces. Even though the tattos are not good just smears of ink. The helmets are great good going there EA. The crowd could start getting more involved. I think the Madden team really should take a look at other EA titles like NHL 2003 whose crowd reactions and dancing make the game just way better. The tackles have gotten better I personally like when a defender grabs the shoulder pads and rips you to the ground from behind thats great. Also there is a bunch of new gang tackles. Alot of Madden faithful just see the same tackles go to practice mode and be the D you'll see some things that'll surprise you. Something really needs to be done about falling over players who are already down. Nothing is more nerve racking than having Tra Thomas clear a hole for Donovan and once you squeeze through and see daylight you fall because of someone whose already down. If they reached out and tripped you it would be better, but no you just stumble and fall, which would never happen to Donovan or Vick. Unlike Live or March Madness you can abandon that right analog stick and still have a good time. Madden is great but I just try to let everybody know whats wrong and right with it. I really do like it but if no one ever complained it would never get better. Which I feel in alot of aspects it did, the only thing thats worse is the create a player.(As I already stated) The dark complections should be darker and the faces should be a little different there is like a 194 of almost the same face. Madden is the king of the hill and I doubt that even with the help of ESPN NFL 2K4 will come close. Also the people at XBOX who continue to produce NFL Fever need to give it up. Madden is the best and it keeps getting better. The Madden crew continues to keep EA sports up and running. The best does keep getting better. (Look for players to come back as coaches after they retire in your franchise, it'll take a year or two but you'll see them in the free agent coach screen)
| A marked Improvement.... | | EarnThisFool from Little Rock, Arkansas says (4/Sep/2003): | Another fine title form the EA franchise. I've read alot of these reviews and it seems to me most of you have three or four basic problems with the gameplay.
1)The pressure on your quarterback...While its almost neccessary to have a quarterback who can run, over 70 spd with good acceleration, if you don't fade back that far, and stay in the pocket the protection is better. When you drop back the D-Lineman, the fastest of the lineman, have almost a straight line to you, staying in the pocket cuts down on the angle. The hot routes are better this year and running that slant with the slot is easy money against a zone esp. w/ an LB blitzing. Interceptions are usually a player's fault, but sometimes are unavoidable. Try messing with the A.I if its too much of an ego threat.
2) The super team theory could be true, but if you've got a lead, don't throw it, switch your ball hand and kneel down, and yeah punt the ball if you've got to. Don't spin, don't try to break it outside and if you see seven CPU dfenders bearing down on you just turn around and divebackwards, especially if you've already got a first down.
3) The commentary hasn't ever been that good, how could it be, I'd imagine that in a few years, the commentary will catch up to the fabulous gameplay. But its not exactly feasible there's only so much room for speech files and Michaels and Madden have other stuff to do, as it is I think they spend whole days at a time voicing the names and comments for the game.
I think it would be nice if you could use more than one player in the training camp drills. Not many more, maybe just two or three...
Owner mode is fine, no complaints, its not "totally awesome" or whatever some of you have been saying but its fine.
My boy's and I imported the draft classes from NCAA 2004 to Madden and spent some time over a few days changing all the names, we used a college football preview issue that lists the players by name and number. Don't do it in the College game, do it after the draft in "View Roster" its easy and there aren't that many. Its an interesting experiment, and if you've got one person entering the names and another person reading them and you trade off it doesn't take that long at all. One hour a day for two days....hardly a commitment.
| Madden-ing | | Jonny Dubb from Ft. Liquordale says (26/Aug/2003): | Ok..let's talk about the games pros and cons for a second.
1. Playmaker Control - An idea that was better on the drawing board than in actual practice..it does have some applications but it's nothing that will win you a game, more likely it will lose you one.
2. The 4th Quarter - For those of you children out there complaining because they had 1 minute left and we're up 17 points and lost..YOU are the problem not the game. If you have any brains and have watched the NFL then answer me this..what would a real coach do with that lead and that time left?
!!! KNEEL DOWN !!!
3. Michael Vick - If he was really this good the falcons would have been in Disneyland not TB, soory guys when you go that far out of your way to make your cover guy happy you're obviously all over his ass like a fat kid on a cupcake, ok?
4. Owner Mode - I want football, not The Sims meets the NFL
5. Super Glue - what every CB, LB, FS, SS, RB, HB, WR and TE in this game needs to put on their hands to catch the ball..if they did this in the NFL it WOULD NOT BE THE NFL..oh..by the way..easy way to avoid all the dropped balls GUYS is to switch to said offensive or defensive player and press triangle at the exact moment of contact..100% works..takes practice though and by the way...how many NFL games have you seen where the QB bombs the rock 90 yards every play..doesn't happen..thats reality..thats MADDEN
6. Running game - get an OL and you can do it..if not go to coaching options and switch your gameplay around after you scout the opposing team a little to find out what strategy you SHOULD be using
7. If you practice..you will win
8. Creating Playbooks be they offensive or defensive is for CHEATERS only real men don't use them
9. If your Create-A-Player DEATH SQUAD is killing the Claymores 255 (the MAX points you can score in Madden 2004 before the computer stops recording your score) to 3 then it is time to UP the difficulty level because you my friend have the attention span of Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man and aren't learning jack
10. That's just my take..I'm probably right anayway
| Madden is the way I'll play..... | | geO from so.Cali from Ontario-CA-USA says (18/Aug/2003): | -Personally i think that this Madden compared to last years is not everything id hoped for b4 i bought it. I love the new plays and formations, but the graphics are basically the same (besides a little more detail). on the back of the game cover they advertise 100's of new animations....ive probably seen 20 at the most.
-i agree with a lot of people by sayin the soundtrack is not impresive at all...i want everyone to know i hate that track that screams "If i was on offense i would be a tackler..." i had to turn that OFF...thank god for JUKEBOX
the new features of owner mode is pretty cool, and love over charging them rich asses for their seats...and i give the middle decks low prices, cuz thats what id would like in reality.
so why i give it an 8 instead of a 10 is basically it didnt amaze me as much as 2003 did when i first played that one. if you're wonderin if you should buy it...do it...its worth the cash. but dont expect a totally new game with totally new commentary. you'll still get classics like "just put your hand up and WHAP it down!"
-i like the ideas of one reviewer of putting highlights of other games into the half-ass half-time show...that sounds dope (or at least have a real segment of each of the actual cheerleader squads shakin it) or just anything to keep me from pushin start to skip the damn part.
-the feature i jock most from this is the Playmaker Control, that is what really gets me about this game, and how you can make more decisions out on the field.
-the most hated feature is the 4th quarter "computer sudden shift to SUPER-TEAM" to get a victory....makes me want to brake the damn thing! i thought it was just me, but after reading some other reviewers complain, makes me kno that im not the only one getting spankt in final minutes.
-I recently heard of a rumor of the MADDEN cover curse....(who ever is on it will have a bad next season or get an injury)...well the news of Vick's injury really sucks and i hope he puts an end to the curse. if its even true...
-thats my 2cents
-peace!
| I HATE THIS GAME! Nah... I'm just playin' with ya... | | Tim from CT, USA says (15/Aug/2003): | Pro- This game really brings the new aspect to the "Foot Ball Game" normally sport games get repetitive very quickly since it's basically the same thing as last year's version. NOT ANY MORE!!! the play maker control will let you get more into the game. I dont even know how I played other football games without it. The Graphic hasn't changed much, but they did make some improvment. People actually have tattoos(now this might not be a big deal, but it really makes the games feel real). The frenchise mode has also improved; THE OWNER MODE ROCKS!!!!!! I personally think that this really seperates madden from other football games. Now you can really get into the game by changing not only the players, but the coaching staff, jersey, and the stadium. Also when your favorite player retires, you can hire him to be your coach.
Con- No offence to the AAF, Blink 182, The Roots and so on, but EA trax this year REALLY STINKS. the good thing is that you can just turn it off, get the sterio and shove in your favorite CD. also, you would think that EA will learn that no one want to listen to Madden... I guess they can't fire him because he is the name of the game, but for god sakes does he get annoying?!?! I mean it really doesn't help when your friend is beating you by 35 to 7 and John Madden talks about how dumb your choice was.
Final Thought- Madden 2004 is a GREAT GAME; no matter how annoying John madden is. If you are a football fan, you are going to love it. If your not much of a fan, but you just want to try it, there has never been a better time to start
1(worst) 10(Best)
Graphic- 9
Sound- 7
Gameplay- 10
Fun Factor- 10
| Almost Great | | Chris Blood from Fresno, CA U.S.A. says (31/Mar/2004): | This game almost had it all ... graphics, sound, teams, fantasy, draft and especially the thrill of online competition. For reasons unknown, the online factor fell through completely. Granted, most games play pretty well as long as the connection is good, but the stupid gliches in this game are a travesty to both video games AND football itself.
Madden 2004 was created to simulate NFL football, yet guys online can win games without a an ounce of actual football knowledge as well as the ability to screw your record up. I really pray that in future games these problems are worked out. I realized this week that I haven't played online in over two weeks and that follows about 4 months of playing this game non-stop, day in, day out. There is so much there for it to be ruined by both technical oversites AND the chuildren, regardless of their age, that have such little life and identity to go screwing around with something they're not qualified to be a part of. I may never play online again.
Franchise mode has been fun but even that's limited because the computer has a football brain the size of a peanut ... yet can destroy you whenever. Playing another human is where it's at and online is THE place to do that given your opponent can't see you audibles and hot routes. EA needs to dot more i's and cross more t's before releasing the next game. As it stands, I will not be the first in line to pick it up choosing to sit back for a couple of months to see what people are saying. If EA doesn't fix it, they'll make less on the next game than they did this one ... their accountants certainly don't want that. We shall see.
| The one flaw in the simulation | | A gamer from Bradenton, FL says (11/Sep/2003): | There is one problem that i have with the last couple madden games and i was hoping that they fixed it in this years game but they didnt. That is the words that come on the screen when its forth down for example. That just completly ruins the possibility of this game being absolutely perfect.
On another note, the Owner mode is just incredible. I love the ability to sign a coach and watch them progress. The the owner mode mini-camp is also great. The better you are the better you can make your players become. My favorite is the catch ball mostly because its easy(in comparison) to get the full 7 points. Pocket Presence is another of my favorites. In madden 2003 i could get the gold in all-madden level but in this years its different. I struggle to get the gold in all-pro. The coffin corner punt is a little annoying. Besides all the good punters are old so really you are only progressing them for that one year. You can skip it if you want because none of the computer managed teams are able to progress their players in the mini-camp, which is another thing i like.
The graphics and animations are absolutely the best. You can change the camera angle so you are so close to the players and it still looks real if not more real. I am truly interested to see what the next video game systems are going to be able to do but i am not curious to see the price tag these systems are going to have because i have a scary suspision they are going to be a little more expensive than the PS2 was.
Anyways, if you dont own madden 2004 then you should buy it. Its spectacular.
| Madden is still the best, but could use some tips from the 2K Series | | Randy from Thornton, CO. USA says (2/Sep/2003): | Over all the years, and all the football games out there nothing tops the playabillity of MADDEN's. I've loved every version but there are just a couple of features, I would like to see. The music in the menu screen, it can be turned off so they don't bother me, but I don't care for it in the game. I would like to hear the "HEY" song when I score a touch down, like they do in the 2K series. I like the week wrap up and the whole ESPN setting on the 2K series and would like to see something simular with Madden. The commentary is better then it has been this year, but I would like to hear about who is subing in and out. Like if Ashlie Lelie checks in to the game for Eddie Mac, It would be cool to hear about it. I think it would be a cool feature and would livin up the commentary. The annoucing does get bland after awhile. They should do a MONDAY NIGHT Football feature, and make Monday Night games a bigger deal then all the rest of the games. If they could do an ABC Monday Night football layout, and make it feel more like a big nationally televised game.
As far as game play goes, I am not a big fan of the play maker control, when running the ball, but I do like it when passing. I do not care for going through the preseason, before I start a franchise season, but I think it is a cool feature. The game is tough and hard to get used to, but I think it is the closest to the real thing then anything out there.
My biggest bone to pick is, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WHIP MAN DEFENCE???? I miss it!!
| don't whine, practice. | | Mungo from West Village, NYC says (7/Nov/2003): | This game is amazing. Stop complaining that you fumble too much and that you throw too many interceptions.
If you fumble a lot, it's likely because the defense is trying to strip the ball while you're sprinting. Think about a real player. When he gets hit, he covers up and protects the ball. He doesn't start stiff-arming and spinning around.
Don't throw impossible passes, and you won't be intercepted. If your WR has a step, but the DB is faster (and baiting you into throwing), you might throw an interception.
If you're throwing for 500 yards, try upping the level. If it's already up, try putting on the accelerated game clock. Also, real NFL teams don't choose from 1 of 10 plays as soon as they get tackled, and then snap the ball as soon as they get to the line. Unless you're behind, take time to read the defense, tweak your routes, put a receiver in motion to add a blocker or see if the D is in man or zone, etc. You don't need to play the, "let me see how many plays I can run" game.
Vick is amazing in Madden 2004. Vick is amazing in the NFL (when he's not injured). Deal with it. Put a fast spy on him. Why do you think he's on the cover of the box? Because he's good at football. You can beat him if you are creative. Don't always run the same play. The AI will figure it out.
This game is amazing if you put the time in to practice. Draft your own team --- get Vick if you want. Don't complain when he leaves for more money. Most NFL players would.
Enjoy!
| Madden Gameplay | | Ziggy from Wilmington DE, USA says (25/Aug/2003): | All this talk about ints, fumbles and the difficult gameplay has 1 easy solution; you need to stop playing this as Madden 2003 and start as Madden 2004. The games are very different. I think they did a great job in changing up the game, so the same things that worked in years past will not work this year. The first game I played as the Eagles v NE, I threw 8 ints and fumbled 2 punts. They have done very well to capitalize on your mistakes. I went into practice mode vs the TB defense, set both on random. I sat there for a couple of hours a day until I learned to find the open receiver, throw the ball away or run (when there was no spy). I'm not saying that I dominate now, I still find myself throwing into double-coverage and paying the price. It's a learning experience. Owner mode, online play are awesome. Please be a man and take the hit, if you are down, don’t unplug or disconnect, it makes one look like jerk.
Two things that did bother me about Madden:
1. Is Madden himself. He seems to ramble on and on, to the point that I'm running my next play and he is still talking away with out a care in the world. Easy fix I turned him off.
2. I fumbled a punt return, picked it up and returned it for a TD, but my scoring summary was all jacked up. It had the Bears as scoring the touchdown in a game played by the Eagles and Saints.
In no way does bring down an otherwise awesome game. It is just two things that I'd like them to change for next year.
| Very realistic, still the best football | | Louis from Lawrence, USA says (3/Sep/2003): | Well, I must agree with everyone about Michael Vick's Godlike abiltiy, but there are ways to remedy that, i.e. QB spys. I don't like how I get crazy amounts of interceptions either, even on higher difficulty levels. Other than that there are many nice additions. Playmaker can be highly effective on defense and even on offense, though a little harder to block and still hold speed burst. Ownermode? Ok, so I'm a sucker for the Sims I guess, but I like how it's hard to make money, cause that's the way it is in real-life. Hint: blow out somebody the week before a home game and advertise the following week? You make more off of ticket sales than anything. A lot of owners lose their rear in the money department in real life.. Playonline I haven't tried though I'd love to if I had the time. Making a playbook isn't cheating but it might as well be. I still think it's awfully easy to make a running team merely by getting my fullback back-to-back 8 TD seasons. However, he seems to get run over by a 140lb corner now and then ??? Minicamp is pretty sweet, but maybe that's cause I like my guys to be better than the comps? It's still somewhat difficult to obtain all 7 points though, so a good challenge. No matter what, it's better than last year's and that's saying alot. And by the way, I'm a huge fan but I only reserve a 10 rating for games that are the best of the decade and I'm sure Madden 2005 will have something to say.
| Getting closer to where we want it! | | dazzy from Minneapolis (MN) USA says (18/Aug/2003): | Let me say first and foremost, that Madden 2004 is a great game. The new owner mode is great and the salary escalations are very realisitc. It makes it very complicated, however.
I agree with the users that say there are some problems with this game. I am glad I can finally edit the names on my 98 Vikings, but what is with the fake numbers? That is dumb. We all know that Cris Carter was number 80, don't label him as #3.
How come every tackle looks the same? Guys never land on there stomachs when they are tackled. (Unless they want the wind knocked out of them.)
I love the other reviewer's idea of having highlights from other games. If they are having trouble finding guys to lend their voices, hire me! I'll work for peanuts!
Thanks for putting Vick on the cover, cuz I love to see the Falcons go down! Will you put Warren Sapp or Derrick Brooks on next year? I want to see the Bucs falter.
Overall, the game is great, but some of the popups are annoying. Sometimes I don't want to see my total yardage, just the route that my fullback is running.
Where's Lisa Guerrero? Forget Melissa Stark. She's Pregers...
I love being able to hire and fire my coaches. Great feature.
Like I said, this is a great game and close to being exactly where I want it. I want my options in my create a team and uniform modification, but I can see myself playing this game right until Madden 2005 comes out!
| Best yet in the Maddes series | | Orlando from Boston,USA says (9/Aug/2003): | This game covers every aspect you could want in a football sim. Everything that the 2k/espn football titles have missed is made up in this game. With the returning mini camp mode and the same great graphics it is hard to say no to this game. Also the addition of the new playmaker mode witch just in case any of you have lived under a rock for the past couple of months, is a great feature that is revoloutionary to the industry uses the same basic consept of the NBA live 2003 freestyle stick and brings it over into the madden series. For example say you anticipate a pass play by the opposing team so you have a set that allows your defense to spread back, and out of nowhere they run it on you toggle the stick and your safties come flying into the pocket. Also to add more depth to the franchise mode they have added a owners mode. Thats right you get to own a NFL team. You are in charge of higering and fiering personal and tweaking prices of consession items and ticket prices all the while being able to move your team to a whole new city and state. And on top of that change the uniforms, and did I almost forget the best feature of all you get to creat your own stadium. Thats right creat it from literally the ground up. so you can see why this game is a must for all even if your not a football fan but just want to have fun or you are just into sims do yourselfs a favror and buy this game
| madden 2004 is @#$%ing awesome | | Joey Southwell from kennesaw GA says (20/May/2004): | madden 2004 is the best game of any kind and it will always,well....up until they make a madden 2005. i do not have online play but it is awesome still i have my leval on the highest possible and it is still to easy i once won against the buccs 213-21. and i played no madden cards and i did not screw up the rosters and i didnt throw any INT's and i did not fumble the ball once.this game is TO easy and not to hard if anything the game needs to have a harder game play.for all yall who say trung candidate fumbles tomuch ......... it is becouse his carry sucks. if you want a back with a good carry trade for the half back of the chiefs .......... Preist Holmes. his carry is 97 compared to trung candidates 74, see it sucks. if you want a quarter back with good accuracy your going to want to trade for the oakland raiders first stringer Rich Gannon. fora good throw power quarter back you are going to want to trade for the quarter back out of southern mississippi, and the green bay packers first stringer Brett Favre. if you dont want to throw interceptions but you want to recieve interceptions for you you are going to want the 5 best CB's in the game ...... Champ Bailey, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, Ty Law, and Charles Woodson. the best two FS's in the game............ Brian Dawkins, and Darren Sharper, the two best SS's in the game ........ Lawyer Milloy, and John lynch
| Great game still needs improving | | adam from White bear lake, Minnesota says (7/Oct/2003): | i am in my 7th season already, i love the game and being in the owner mode and dealing with the salary cap is great. the few things that really bother me is that the computers offense can pass for 500+ yards a game no matter what. but it is really easy to hold the computers rushing, i dont get it. maybe that is just me being great at rush defense and not at the passing.
and i have also noticed that when i am leading by over 14 points my interception rate goes way down. every ball that goes into the hands of my defense gets dropped cuz i am ahead? i usually play on allpro and win every game next season ill move to all madden.
one last thing is the salary for the players. with training camp it is great but if i get a 5-7 points for a player and he does good that same year i have to pay him a ton of money. i dont like the fact i do great with a young player for 2 years and he holds out for 12 million a year. i really wanted to play with mike vick but that is almost impossible with a 15-20 million dollars a year to keep him. but if you use a bad player in the traning camp they cant get any points anyway.
and what is with some of my guys losing 10 points on their overall rating for just not getting enough touches or something. i can see losing maybe one point but to totally waste a player from just one year of not being as productive is crazy.
| Madden 2004 rules the PS2 sports world! | | Frank from Oklahoma, USA says (19/Oct/2003): | I really enjoy playing this game. It has been a learning experience to say the least. My first season, I too gave up 500+ yards a game. In my third season in owners mode, my offense and defense are both in 1st. So far, I haven't cheated yet, because if you play the game realistically, you don't have too. The AI will never be smarter than a human. One of the changes I like the most from previous versions is the computer not throwing on every down after it gets behind. I also like the fact that the computer punts on 4th down even when its loosing. The only thing I don't like about the game is a section of the off season. In 2003, you could sign free agents before you went to the draft. I don't like drafting before signing, I son't have any money left to sign. I also don't care for the number of required players by position. I don't need 3 quarterbacks, or 3 RB's. But oh well, it's part of the game. A suggestion or two- make the game off season where you are notified that a coach or assistant has been offered more money, has retired, or been fired-If I am the owner, I should get to have a say in the process. For the cost of the game, the booklet should be more informative, or there should be a place to get answers to questions that doesn't cost a fortune. Over all, major thumbs up, I really love this game.
| Madden 2004 | | gymrat101 from seattle Wa says (14/Jun/2004): | Fist of all I would like to say great game most realistic football game I have ever played. I have read alot of other people reviews and most of them are very helpful. People please, playing online,If your are going to quit everytime you are losing or need to cheat, sell your game and buy socom.I am not a gamer at all but I take my losses without quitting you should to, i lost a game the other night by 50 and still did't quit, I know I makes for a long game but deal with it please. When I started about 3 months ago the mini-camp drills seemed impossible with a little practice the are getting better all madden is hard but quess what practice. Stop complaning how hard it is. The fist game I played was on all-pro I threw 12 int's Fumbled 4 times and lost by 50. Know i throw about 2 int's 0 fumbles and I just one my 4th straight superbowl on all-pro, all madden is still to hard, but thats why u practice. Well anyway that was probally to long, but i have to go, Ps use broadband i play with dial-up it suckes espesally for newbies like myself.
I like to play win or loss augest I will have broadband so If you want some close games mabey losses my name is below.
thanks

| Online Game Play | | Dave from GR michigan says (31/Jan/2004): | Hey, all you online gamers. I will give you tips to help you win 8 or 9 out of 10 games. Depending on how you play there are several teams to be. Of course everyone knows about the Falcons and Michael Vick, but use them to your advantage. They lack on defense, but they more then make up for it on offense. Select the run and gun offense witht he balance d playbooks. Switch your fullback to TJ Duckett. Set your audibles to Shotgun 2 back -- the rb out play. It is the first play to the far left of the playboof. 2nd audible set to Shotgun 2 back ... QB sneak up the middle --- it is the middle play when you push down on the controller one time. Then pick Shot gun trips HB out. It is the middle play when you push down on the controller once. Then set Shotgun Trips WR out it is the play to the far right when you push down on the controller two times. On defense select 4-3 man cover, dime man cover, 3-4 man cover and 4-6 rush outside. This way you cans top the run and pass. If you know they are passing select dime man cover and pull your defensive lineman to the middle of the fiel;d to stop the pass over the middle to the tight end. once you get good you can beat 80% of the people just by using your audibles all game.
| great, but some people are waaaay under and over rated | | Jon from Tampa Florida USA says (27/Oct/2003): | first off, im a huge bucs fan and after the super bowl win i was almost positive that there D would be atleast 3 points ahead of anyone else. then i find out that miami is a point better?? come on! plus with the roster updates via online, they make the bucs defense even worse! argh! anyways, everything seems to be the same as 03 except that you cant just run up the middle with no blockers and get 5 yards. and i like that. one other thing that i dont like is the catch-up AI. if im up 13-0 with 3 minutes left in the 4th i dont want to win 16-13 in OT just because of some new AI feature that lets the person/CPU thats behind catch up easily. it makes my stats look bad, and i know stats are for dummies, but with out good stats the players lose points in the ratings and i dont play as good. One last thing i got to say, im tired of these 7-9 8-8 or 9-7 teams that are unbeatable. earlier today i was playing buffalo and they ran and passed all over my defense. we all know buffalo wouldnt beat the bucs in the real game. thats all i got to say and if you have any comments or want to play me online email me at stonecolddale3< remove me > at hotmail.com.
hopefully EA will make better decisions when making the teams next year.
| Arguably The Best Game Out There | | Adrian from Carthage,Texas,USA says (4/Jan/2004): | Madden 2004 is a solid game and should be added to anyone's collection who is interested in REALISTIC sports. If you have played any of the past Madden Football games it should not be too hard, but just as all the others,it is still challenging. There are many new features such as playmaker control, owner mode(my personal favorite),and the training camp in off-season.The graphics are even more beautiful than ever before.Even though it sometimes sounds like John Madden is rambling, the announcing is still pretty good. There is no better sound than big hits on this game and when there is a big hit the sound is crystal clear. The gameplay is great, but the game still has too many turnovers and defensive touchdowns. It is unbelievably fun.The gameplay is pretty much the same as last year's madden, except it has playmaker control, and new rosters. If you really know a lot about the NFL owner mode is definitely the thing for you.I don't mean to brag but I love owner mode.If you dont really know much about the NFL then you might rather buy another game.Since I'm through with this review I guess I'll make a point about my favorite team.COWBOY FANS STOP JUMPING ON QUINCY AND WORRY ABOUT TROY HAMBRICK and the D-Line!!!
