Madden Gameplay |

All this talk about ints, fumbles and the difficult gameplay has 1 easy solution; you need to stop playing this as Madden 2003 and start as Madden 2004. The games are very different. I think they did a great job in changing up the game, so the same things that worked in years past will not work this year. The first game I played as the Eagles v NE, I threw 8 ints and fumbled 2 punts. They have done very well to capitalize on your mistakes. I went into practice mode vs the TB defense, set both on random. I sat there for a couple of hours a day until I learned to find the open receiver, throw the ball away or run (when there was no spy). I'm not saying that I dominate now, I still find myself throwing into double-coverage and paying the price. It's a learning experience. Owner mode, online play are awesome. Please be a man and take the hit, if you are down, don’t unplug or disconnect, it makes one look like jerk.
Two things that did bother me about Madden:
1. Is Madden himself. He seems to ramble on and on, to the point that I'm running my next play and he is still talking away with out a care in the world. Easy fix I turned him off.
2. I fumbled a punt return, picked it up and returned it for a TD, but my scoring summary was all jacked up. It had the Bears as scoring the touchdown in a game played by the Eagles and Saints.
In no way does bring down an otherwise awesome game. It is just two things that I'd like them to change for next year.

i think this game has got 2 b one of the greatest!! i think the gameplay is great and playing it online is even better! id recomend this game to any football loving person!!! also the graphics are realistic! i dont think anyone should give this game ne lower than a 10 cuz 2 me on a scale of 1-10 i give it a 12

All these whiners talking about these ints and fums are just amateurs and they are not ready for the realistic features in this Madden. No, the computer is not easy. No, your receiver is not going to automatically catch any catch you throw up. No, your back isn't going to keep the ball if he's covered by 6 defenders. One solution: DEAL WITH IT MAN!!! Take your game and polish it up at practice or something, because the same crap that worked on NES isn't going to work these days losers. Madden deserves 10 stars man because the franchise mode is perfect, the new owner mode is unbelieveable, I love the mew EA Sports Bio to keep up with how bad I kill my opponets, and finally, beginners can't master the game in a few hours, it takes a little elbow grease now buddy boy, so get some kool-aid and some cheetos, get a fresh memory card, cut out the lights, turn on the big screen, and begin a great dynasty in the most entertaining football game since Tecmo Bowl on Super-NES!!!

First of all it does tell you how many WR TE RB the offense is putting out there when you are on defense. Passing is easy you just throw to an open guy and you can get way more than 5 yards per pass throw a little play action at them and you can be wide open. Where is your hole? Get an offensive line and you can have one! Face it if your line sucks they arent gonna block as well as a good line. My only problems are its very hard to make money in owner mode and the whole super team every time in the 4th quarter. But still awesome add ons and I love this game!

what are all of you babies whining about! i have never lost to the computer at any level. if i score less than 80 pts they have a good D. there are no miraculous comebacks! true i have noticed that upper teir teams tend to get away with plays in the fourth that they couldn't previously. why all this crying about playmaker. it gives a run defense a shot against a five reciever set. madden is the bomb! can we make the overrated michael vick a perrenial cover boy. he aint all that!!!! me and my buddy play kill each other on the game, but the cpu doesnt stand a chance. also im getting between 7-10 picks a game using playmaker so bite you losers!

Madden 2004 is a really great game. I like it because opponents can just throw deep on every play. The computer run db's have magnetic hands and get way too many interceptions. Sort underneath passes are the only ones that you'll complete with any regularity. Only longer pass patterns it's like the receivers have stone hands. If you are playing the computer in the allmadden mode and are winning in the 4th quarter, you will fumble way too many times, both on punt
returns and running plays. It is way to unrealistic. Donovan Mcnabb is way too slow, he can't outrun any of the defensive lineman. The franchise mode is nice and the training camp stuff is always pretty tight. The playmaker control is awesome, I like the blocking feature the best, on defense there doesn't seem to be much advantage using it. The computer controlled backs will still get about 5 yards, they break a lot of tackles. Overall it is a nice game.

Madden 2004 is the best Madden yet! It's awesome how you can create your own stadium, and also you can move your team to a different city. The franchise training camp is off the hook! It's great when I do the fantasy draft cause I can train my rookie draft picks. The best part is the owner mode! you can raise the prices of your parking, concessions, and more. I also love how you can sell free stuff on your fan appreciation days. If there's one game to get this year it's Madden 2004!!!

Except for the new owner mode, every part of the gameplay is better in last years madden. i was disappointed in how the gameplay is set up. you fumble too much, and you can sack and get sacked way too easy. the franchise is awesome, i just wish that the gameplay aws better. when you ry to drop back to pass, you will get sacked easily if there is a blitz called (unless you have some guy... i think his name is michael vick???) they make vick too unstoppable. he is the tightest player in the NFL, but in this game he is too good. there are a lot of flaws, but a lot of cool new additions.

John Madden football is the best football game ever to come out since 1990. I should know I have every copy. Since 1990 Madden has been bumbling, I think it's time to fix this. He almost studders and he and Al Michaels say things at the wrong time. I wacked a reciever and he dropped the pass and they said it takes a strong reciever to go over the middle and make a spectacular catch like that;; what?? He dropped it! In Madden there is either good running ability or good passing ability; this year it's neither. It's immposible to pass against the computer and you can get 5 yards maybe. I love the online mode but every time I'm up by 2 touchdowns some pudd will disconect. I saw 1 kid who was 0-12 with a dissconnect rate of 100%, whats the point loser? I appoligize for ranting but I think these things should be fixed. Thank you

madden 2004 is great but there is still some problems.I love the new owner mode and stuff but when u relocate to another city you have to create all new uniforms and you cant put the logo on the helmet.I love have realstic the game is and the online play.But it seems like john madden and al michaels have most of the same commentary as 2003.The last problem is about the online play,if ur kickin someones < remove me > at $$ the be a wussy and just quit and the game does not count.Whoever says madden is not the best football game is a coomplete luatic.

the game is tight but there are some flaws. Like every madden title the computer always seems to blow up in the 4th quarter even after you've seemed to smash their brains out. Also fumbling the ball alot is real big.i was up on the bucs on all madden by 17 with 1 minute and 12 seconds left plus i had the ball. i lost the game because i fumbled 3 times inside my own 20. 3 plays in a row. Other than that the game has some great features like owner mode and the new traing camp. I waited a long time for this game to come out and when i got it I was fairly pleased with the outcome and will continue to buy the madden games for years to come.The funfactor in the game is very high to me because of the newly added owner mode. Setting your own prices for the tickets and merchandise and things is really cool. Very nice game but EA should fix the flaws for next years game. Big ups to the commentary as well,even though madden and al michaels say things at the wrong times like in all madden games.

I just come off of playing Madden 03 and couldn't wait to open my new Madden 04. I popped it in, set up my account and before you know I was online. What a disappointment. In my first game I threw 4 ints and fumbled 3 times. Is this supposed to be realistic? Some of the INT's were of the "miraculous" kind Pretty much uncatchable even by Superman. This game just makes it easier for the people who rely solely on the computer to play defense, they just sit back and wait for a pick. The gameplay is faster sometimes too fast(Vick was the opponents leading rusher).The blitzes are faster, the secondary coverage is tighter. One thing I do like is when they tell you if the ball was intercepted or was a "user pick" you can tell if the computer got it or if you got it. Maybe I need more time to get used to it. The playmaker control works pretty good on switching sides for the run other than that it is pretty useless.

madden 04 is off the chain but there are still a few things they NEED TO FIX.
1) my o-line dosent block weel enough. the cpu. get to my qb way to fast even when i sat in the pocket. i play with mcnaab and i know he can out run fat d-linemen even in scramble mode i get sacked
2)the corners are sick. the pick everything off and when they play zone you cant pass. my cpu players cant pick off anything
3)dropping passes. the player drop far tow many 3rd down passes
4)where are my running holes

After reading some of the other reviews it seem that everyone is complaining about the same things. The main problem with 2004 is that the computer does tend to get way to many interceptions, especially ones that should not happen. Another one of my complaints is that it seems like the computer breaks tackles better and runs faster that anyone else that I ve played. Once these problems get solved Madden will be great.
The new owner mode that was added on this year is fun and very detailed. As the owner you set prices for tickets, beer, parking, jerseys, and anything else you could amagine. The one down side to the owner mode is that created teams can not be used.

I Love the gameplay and the new animations,also the stadiums look great. But my biggest complaint by far is the fact that ea stated u could build your stadium millions of ways what lie i played the game for three nights just to be able to renovate the stadium and what happens u build it just the same as creat a team. Also the logos are $#< remove me > at ! and nfl and old nfl logos don't even show up on the helmets that was so gay i swear if goin to be able to build new stadiums and jerseys make it so can put stuff from other stadiums and jerseys on your team cause if u can't its a wasted option.

I was waiting for months untill madden would come out and when it finally did i got it a day before it acutally came out becasue i reserved it. It is so worth the wait. I love the franshice mode and i always have but now they made it better for me. i love it and all the other "football" games don't even come close.

I have a major problem playing so called Madden Ballers that quit the game because their getting whipped on the field. Even if the other player is up by 100 points PLAY IT TO THE BONE! The game is hella tight and the online experience makes it even better. But the thing that needs to be addressed is the way your wins and losses are updated. Obviously if you're like me and actually know how to keep it real. Rank is everything online. This determines who will or won't play with you. So to sum it all up if you talk hella smack offline don't go online too many Quitters, Pullers, Disconnectors, A.K.A Online Messer Uppers! EA fix this NOW Please!

I was like everybody else in the universe, I had to play Madden 2004 as soon as it came out. I gotta say it is a bit disappointing, sike no it aint. I mean I've been playin Madden for years and it always has me stuck playin this year is no different. The gameplay is great but if your not playing a friend you will get real good real fast the computer is tougher than a boiled Timberland. The playmaker controll is great for blocking, passing, rushin but on defense it could use a little work. Only because you would expect to do more because of all the options you have on offense. I always liked Madden for its franchises and A.I. it makes you play better when you have a real challenge playin the computer. This year the A.I. is tough you cant just start launchin prayers like before you have to play smart. Screens and short routes under the coverage work wonders for you and depending on how you perform effects your players development more than ever. The new training camp is great you do the mini camp drills before the pre season to help develop players too. If you are good at these you can develop those rookies faster than ever keeping your dynasty going. The supposedly better create a player is weak, 2002 and 2003's both were better to me. Tattos and helmets try to make up for poor player faces. Even though the tattos are not good just smears of ink. The helmets are great good going there EA. The crowd could start getting more involved. I think the Madden team really should take a look at other EA titles like NHL 2003 whose crowd reactions and dancing make the game just way better. The tackles have gotten better I personally like when a defender grabs the shoulder pads and rips you to the ground from behind thats great. Also there is a bunch of new gang tackles. Alot of Madden faithful just see the same tackles go to practice mode and be the D you'll see some things that'll surprise you. Something really needs to be done about falling over players who are already down. Nothing is more nerve racking than having Tra Thomas clear a hole for Donovan and once you squeeze through and see daylight you fall because of someone whose already down. If they reached out and tripped you it would be better, but no you just stumble and fall, which would never happen to Donovan or Vick. Unlike Live or March Madness you can abandon that right analog stick and still have a good time. Madden is great but I just try to let everybody know whats wrong and right with it. I really do like it but if no one ever complained it would never get better. Which I feel in alot of aspects it did, the only thing thats worse is the create a player.(As I already stated) The dark complections should be darker and the faces should be a little different there is like a 194 of almost the same face. Madden is the king of the hill and I doubt that even with the help of ESPN NFL 2K4 will come close. Also the people at XBOX who continue to produce NFL Fever need to give it up. Madden is the best and it keeps getting better. The Madden crew continues to keep EA sports up and running. The best does keep getting better. (Look for players to come back as coaches after they retire in your franchise, it'll take a year or two but you'll see them in the free agent coach screen)

madden 2004 is a great game. but for all you garbage players out there that just like to throw deep to a reciever well that dont work on the 2004 you gotta know ur s**t and u gotta run real plays.i was the champ in 2003 and still holding it down in 2004.madden 2004 has great animations great new features like owner's box.more throwback jerseys,great new plays. and this year the have everybodys speed like its supposed to be.this year you get to unlock secret games like the nba live 2004,ncaa 2004 and more.
