Slight improvements from last year. |

This game overall was really about slight and helpful improvements from last years version. The speed of last year's version was too fast paced, but now on 2004 you can increase or decrease the speed to realistic or action style. I hated the swap blocks that always went out of bounds on 2003, but now the blocks are more realistic and they allow u to block dunks. Last year's freestyle version was too easy. U could get by players without even crossing them up, but now on LIVE 2004, the defense is harder to get by and dunks have to be changed into lay-ups in mid-air. For example, if u're trying to dunk on Shaq with Baron Davis, it can easily get blocked unless u change your shot in mid-air, head fakes will help alot because most of your shots in the post area will get blocked. The off-ball mode was okay, but they had something like that 2003. Overall, the gameplay is drastically different from LIVE 2003. The things that were easy from last year definitely became more difficult. The audio/sounds of the game are a little bit better. But the commentary straight up sucks. Marv Albert and that other guy really stink. The soundtrack isn't better than last years. The sound effects are the same as usual. The game really suffers in the frame rate. I notice that on multi-player mode, the game tends to slow down alot and the game play gets choppy when everybody is the paint. The graphics were okay, they looked like they downgraded from last year, but the players look more realistic rather than animated. I looked at Kobe's face and it looked more mature than it did on 2003 including players like Duncan, Webber, Stackhous, Jordan, and Divac. Overall, this game came up with some really great gameplay improvements.

I thought the game really rocked, but also some of the player ratings r a bit wak, like hardaway hes a good player and was ranked 65 , and tmac was rated 92 when he should atleast have been rated 95, its sorta gay how they retire (the players) coz ure fav player could retire den u wont like da team no more. When i played 2k3 i thought it suked , its so slow and compared to 04 , 04 is the best. I havent played live 03 ill have to soon if some of u pplz reckon its better. overall 9

in nba live 2004 there is no dunk contest nor 3 point shootout.Come on I mean the game is supposed to be realistic right ,how about making it that way.This also should occur during the season like it happens in real life.Some of the ratings of the players are crazy. For instance Kobe Bryant is 97 and Tracy Mcgrady is 92 and Iverson is 87.We all know Tracy should be 97, Kobe should be 95 and Iverson should be 92.But overall it made a big jump from 2003.The game was good but should have more features. Like you should show what goes on in the locker room at halftime and show some clips of the 1st and 2nd quater highlights during the halftime.But the game was pretty good overall.

First off Obee I dont even think you know what your talking about saying the computer alters your shot it's too hard to make layups ect ect whine whine whine, maybe you should learn to play a game first. First off the pro's of the game Pro Hop definetly a key feature into splitting the defense down-low making for a posterized dunk or a sweet layup. Second feature is the crossing over, there are sooo many ways to blow by someone all you to do is be creative key word "Freestyle". ANother good feature is the "ability" to control your shot leaning left right or fade away or in. Dont get me wrong these are all good points of the game but with the good comes the bad and here it is, Blocking. Definetly needs to be an area more worked on, it just doesnt look real. Maybe they should take some pointers from ESPN but dont over exagerate it. Also another area that could be enhacned is the alley-oops and dunking. I find too many dunks are way too smiliar and yo cant control it, maybe if you used the right analog stick and maybe rotate it or something to create a better more stonger dunk, you can try this whoever reads it, because it does kinda work, but I dont know if it's an actualy tip in the game. IE rotate 360 360 dunk most of the time. Also I'm not really feeling the intro videos, definetly needs more action plays or something, I dunno about you out there but Hi I'm cory magetti or Hi I'm steve francis and your in the game...come on now add like a piece onto it, maybe a highlight of them. I dunno I'm no pro and these are jst my opinions so nothing like this would ever happen but it would be a good idea dont you think?
So over all it's a fun game I dont find any trouble scoring oh Obee if your still reading this and your still having trouble making layups maybe try adjusting your layup with (x) it is an optin in the game.

This was a big jump from Live 2003. But the game wasn't as good as I thought it should have been. Last year was a dunkfest ... it was way to easy to just blow by the defender and dunk the ball. But this year it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to put up points on the board. It is a complete struggle to complete a shot. Especially with all the new buttons (Pro-hop and the two types of shots), you break a sweat just from pressing all the freaking buttons. Requires way to much concentration for a video game. Whenever you go into the paint even with players like Shaq or McGrady you get blocked or the computer automatically alters your shot and you end up missing. I mean the misses are just terrible in this game. Its hard to complete simple layups just because the defender might have jumped up with you when you took the shot. I understand that EA was attempting to compensate from last year's high octane offense (almost like the Mavericks) but they went to far with the defense in 2004. It gets frustrating after about 5 minutes of gameplay, it gets repetive too. You can stop someone from scoring simply by jumping up with them when they take a shot. This doesn't happen in the NBA, i dont care how many people jump up with Shaq as he goes up for a layup or dunk ... he WILL NOT MISS. and whats going on with the player ratings??? it seems like everyone's ratings are from 1-50 but then there's players like Kobe who have a rating of 97 ... now come on we all know that McGrady had a better season than Kobe last year (statistically speaking) but he has a player rating of 92 ... thats pretty damn low for someone with his calibur. J-Kidd and Iverson are both under 90. It seems as if EA was attempting to copy off of the 2K series ... where the ratings are very similar. I have one last problem with this game, Dynasty Mode is pretty stupid. The players hardly improve (and at the end of the season the MVP only averaged like 20 points) and its the same video sequences for training camp. I think EA should have tried to vary up some things. NBA Live 2003 had better graphics BY FAR ... last year you could show me any player's picture in the game and I could tell you who they were ( I mean even Rasheed Wallace had his trademark bald spot). This year the players are hardly recognizable until you see their names on the back of the jerseys. I think EA could have done ALOT better than this and I'm very disappointed. I'd rather play 2003 than 2004 any day, I would have returned the game if I hadn't lost the receipt. Please don't waste your time buying this game. Oh yeah, where's the All Star Weekeend ... I mean how hard can it be to include a rookie vs. sophmore game or a 3-point shootout. I REALLY hope EA does a better job next year or I'm just going to start buying the 2K series. I'd love to hear what you guys think about it.

NBA Live 2004 supercedes it's ancestors. The moves are smoother, AI still needs improvement, overall it rocks. I wish they'd bring back the 3 point shootout, or even add an all star day feature, complete with the rookie challenge and slam dunk competition. As for the animation, textures are better, except for the occasional flaws on the movement, but still that doesn't distract my concentration. The commentators are indeed witty this time, of course with the genius console to back it up. The practice mode is cool, better moves as what others have added. A must have!Oh i almost forgot, i wish they would also add a halftime highlight, like replay the 1st half's excellent gameplay, or add videos to it. Add more crowd animation. The replay enhancements are almost like the real thing. Often times when you are in the thick of the action, you'd actually think that the game's for real.

i am a avid fan of nba live starting from playstation one down to playstation 2!! it is really addictive, my friends play nba live from dusk til dawn.. we gamble in order to prove who's the best!! nba live 2004 really rocks!! specially the new game play, the moves, the cinematics!! whoooaaa!!! what more can an nba live addict ask for.. my answer? ITS PERFECT!!! we are all waiting for 2005, hoping that it will double our expectations!!! the defense is what i like the most specially when playing against the computer.. the penetration, the best!! the minimal dunks as compared to before made it more realistic!!! if i were to vote for the game of the year, i'll place my bets on nba live!!! in purchasing this game, you will surely get your money's worth!! richard yap my best friend, is a fanatic.. wakes me up to play this game!!! but my idol allen iverson is not that good in 2004 as compared to 2003.. dats nice!! challenging!!

somewhat dissapointed with the overall outcome of the game.
hoping they would have brought back the three point shootout for this 2004. i remember that from like 1995 games...the free style option is great it makes the game seem realistic.....graphics wise some players do look legit.. they did improve on the glitch factor of the basketball games
players no long run through you while you are playing defence..that is a bonus.. in the one on one mode it is hard to see where you are on defence...the replay on block shots is cool...one thing that really sucks about this game and 03 version is the soundtracks....ahhhhhhhhhhh the sountrack for this game is weak there must be some better songs out there ....it seems like there are no options to games anymore..no halftime show....come on at least show a mascot dunking off a trampoline or something ...its like game play doesnot matter anymore as long as graphics are good..and once again if there is an all star game ...the three point and dunk contest should be there as well..it can be understood that the dunk contest may be asking for a bit extra but not the three point shoot out...and also don't remember seeing spud webb anywhere...........

Nba live 2004 is one of the best basketball games. The sund is good the players talk to eachother on the court. New features like the pro hop, or theres a soot and dunk button and you can adjust you shots wit frestyle. Now when you take the ball to the hoop your not gonna score as easy cuz that contest yur shot good. I really like the way they got all the shoes,and you can purchase new shoes jerseys, etc. Live is a very god game the only promblem is some of the players dot lok like them selves like steve francise looks like a roach in a basketball jersey. and sometimes the game will turninto a dunk fest but if your lookin for a good basketball gamepick this one up oh and espn basketball is a little better so you migt want to pick that up also

t-mac blocked from behind in a fastbreak!?how could that happen?the players are waiting for the blocks!! and the off-ball sucks, it has no use at all. how can shaq change his shot under the basket when his defender is earl boykins? guys, this game makes people mad after the game. turnovers, under rated players and training sessions that could make your players improve? they may improve on one particular rating but other ratings decrease. and the dunks are too sloppy,the freestyle improved but one kind of crossover makes the players commit out of bounds. i expected so much from this game but i guess my expectations were too high. anyway there is always room for improvement, i hope EAsports would do good in nba live 2005 and remove all the bull$#< remove me > at !s of the game. this is a computer game make it more fun and exciting.

This is the illest game out there. The defense in 2004 is way better than 2003.My favorite part about live 2004 is the nba store , where you can buy different types of nike shoes such as Air Jordans , and air force ones. Any true basketball player will love this game.P. S. the freestyle control is of the hizzle fishezille dizzle , holla if you hear me.

I would expect better from EA Sports, which has donimated the sports since...well,forever. This NBA Live wasn't much better than the last one. Last year was too arcady, and it still is. The Freestyle is still the best, and is better than ESPN NBA's Isomotion. The new mode where you save up points to buy shoes and apperal is cool, and the Pro-Hop and seperated dunk and shoot are also phat. But the dynasty mode is where it gets ugly. The setup isn't user frendly at all, and confusing at times. In the actual gameplay player models are too big, and only the stars have good faces.NBA Live 2004 is a good game, but is nothing compared the ESPN NBA Basketball.

while a step up in a lot of departments, I still think the game has lots of room to develop. In 2004, a balla's hand doesn't go through the ball and you can't keep knockin playas down on D like in 2003 all that much. Individual ratings are suspect, though. I don't see why EA can't make Live closer to Madden. Scrap the point system. Improve Dynasty mode. And if you're going to put in the training camp feature, make sure it makes a difference and is not just for the cut scenes. It'd be tight if they put in 3 point and dunk contests, but I think it'd be of DA MUTHA****** HOOK if they added freestyle control to dunks and lay ups like they do for dribble (not that 'adjust shot button' b.s.) -- in madden you can do just about everything you can on the field in real live and Live 2004 leaves a lot to the computer and to chance especially with all the air collisions. man, i had to turn that joint down and I never mess with the settings; if they crashed so much in real life they'd be wearin helmets. however, all that is kind of minor (play it to see for yourself) and it's a step up from before.
P.S. next time you lifted or whatever playing it, if you mess with the Instant Replay, you'll see that you can actually see things like tha inside of a playas head if you rotate the camera right cause the graphics are not as good as madden. still a tight game though.

When i first got the game i couldnt wait until i got home from school to play it. It has tight graphics and way more stuff to do then the other past years. they added the nba store where you can buy a wide variety of stuff.Up to almost all of jordans shoes,shox,air forces,and other nba players sig shoes. All the old jerseys and teams headbands. they addded the new expansion team the charlotte bobcats. the dynasty mode is fun.they added little skits when players win mvps, retirement,etc. Overall this is the best nba game this year so pick it up.

Ok first of all this game is Great. I've been a NBA Live fan for a long time, and by far this is the best one that came out. Second if your disappointed about the stats well you can go Download the latest stats with the network adaptor. I would buy this game over ESPN basketball. The NBA store is great with the addition of great shoes. Dissapointing is the number of shoes, and that all (also jordans) are Nike and i would like to buy a bigger selection of shoes. Also the same dunks are a problem to the eye candy. If they are wide open for a great dunk they should be able to make a special dunk if they have a high dunk stat like Vince Carter. Overall i wouldn't trade this game for anything... well i am a Counter Strike fan so i guess i would trade it for Counter strike condition zero when it comes out but till then i'm sticking with Steam(1.6) and the Current best NBA simulation out there NBA Live 2004!!

Finally EA sports made a good basketball game, I thought I was gonna be playing the sega sports basketball franchise again this year, but EA finally improved Live 2004. There is still some room for improvement though, like the same dunk happening over and over again, or the computer being able to hit jumpshots in your face regardless of how tight the defense is, and where do I get the NBA codes? So far all I have is the LeBron James signature shoes, can anyone let me know where all the other codes can be found? Overall I would say that this is the best basketball game this year, and I would recomend that any NBA fan should own it. The AI is way better, the defense is better, though it could still use a few tweaks here and there, It is way more authentic than last years dunkfest of a game. I like the idea of the NBA store with the hardwood classics and the shoes, but like I already said, I can't find any NBA codes anywhere. If anyone could email any codes that you have, I would really appreciate it. Alright, I gotta get back to my game, I'm down 5 to the damn Kings.

i was really raving for the release of nba live 2004. live 03 was great so i was hoping to see a better version for the following year but live 04 fell way below my expectations. the graphics was fine... absolutely the most realistic hoop game around, but aside from it (and the nba store) the game was a seriuos disappointment!!!! whats with the players' ratings? KB is 97 while AI and Kidd are below 90! t-mac is a 92 when he should be up there with kobe!!that simply sucks! also there are lots of underrated players around. the offensive fouls are raining, talk about stiff referees. it makes scoring difficult because you could get called for the charge or have it easily swapped or altered by the defender. the dunks are pretty lame. too repetitive just like the commentaries which make the game boring. franchise points still apply to the dynasty mode, to EA make it in DOLLAR$$$$!!! the players hardly improved season after season. the game ain't pretty but i must admit the improved ai made the game qiute a challenge.
