well, the reason i dont give it a 10 is cause there is no such thing as perfect, the reason i dont give it a 9 is cause the freakin glitchers and cheaters in the friggin game are just losers who gotta rely on cheating to win, my name is OGmikeman so just look me up, im on 24/7 practically, it is the best online game ever no matter what neone says. it is so realistic too, like the health bar is very reasonable, when u get hit by a bullet... it hurts, i mean hell, paintballs leave bruises, bullets are deadly. i also like that u can turn off ur teamate names which makes it much more realistic,(and gets u a couple of angry teammates)is u want the best out of ur game get a cable box a headset a cordless controller and u are set forever, o yah a bag of chips will help too. if u ever played syphon filter: the omega strain, bullcrap: it is nothing compared too socom II i mean the mgl has like 60 friggin grenades in that game.. what the hell? and it takes much more hits to die

ya, I admit this is one of the better games I have played, but no its still no where near where its peak potianl could be at. Socom 2 probally still undersold Madden 2005 by a longshot. the online mode on Socom is really cool, My favortie level is foxhunt but alot of people complain about that level becuase its so easy to snipe or use a SD. But I say thats the beauty of the level, why cant all the maps be as big as foxhunt, I really hate the maps like frostfire and crossroads, when you can see clear across the map, thats BORING, Socom 3 is coming out soon, and Im gettin my wish and im not gettin my wish, the level are goin to be 5 to 6 times bigger than foxhunt, and that is WAY to big no one that. and the vehicles will ruin the game becuase that will become the new noobie cannon just go and run over people in a car wow thats hard....so socom 2 is alright and if you want a beatdown in foxhunt you can alawys find me in a Lt. well it is a good game but there are a few things that i don't like 1. it you are walking real slow the dude dose not stop moving that get as annoying as heck there is nothing like trying to sneek up on your enemyes then you go to snipe and the guy dose not stop walking 2. the game freezes a awful lot like going inbetween menus and just stops loading god that is annoying and also the load times are bad it takes forever to load the main menue i like the lan feature though that is cool and my last petpeve the voice commands i like the thing where the mic lights up on the bottom of the screen but i noticed no matter how ever i say some commands they never regester like team move to crosshairs ect they are like what are you talking about and a little question about socom 1 because i stoppted playing the single player missions when i got multiplay anyway what happened to boomer did he die just wondering because that was my nickname

Everyone here makes some good points. Those that insist upon cheating can expect to be shot in the head by me or thier own team; So don't bother. I have been playing for some time and have not had ANY problems with lag. So stop being cheap and upgrade to DSL or Cable. It is apparent that some very long hours went into the making of Socom II and I applaud those involved. Definitely a game worth buying if you enjoy a realistic battle where you need to rely on each other for victory. Yes, the rank system leaves something to be desired, but what is rank really? I have seen Ensigns who shoot better than Captain, so who cares, just gloat about the kills. Maybe Socom III will have a different view on this but I do like the fact that it takes into account the skill and work of the entire team. This isn't a one man arny type of game. If you want that, stay off-line and play the single player version. That still kicks a$$ too.

This game rocks, It was much improved from the first installment. The controls....while changed slightly, still remain very easy to use. The amount of weapons available is insane. I hear a lot of complaints about the recoil factor, well....sorry but deal with it you whimpering little biatch. Recoil is a part of firing a rifle. I also like the fact that the health bar is noticable and contains information on who has the satchel charges, it allows you to keep track of your men and thier capabilities. The bonus objectives are a nice touch because they allow you to test your ability to think on your feet, a requirement in combat situations. The ever changing circumstances in each mission also make for more interesting game play. The AI is much more advanced and team members are more reliable...and very accurate. I can't tell you how many times my teammates have saved my < remove me > at ss from getting shot. This game rocks...a must have

Socom is a really good game except for the cheaters. Then, i heard about socom2. Peeps were saying they're NO cheaters in it.
So,i got it of course!It was cool cause it had all of socom maps plus twice as more. SO i stopped playin socom 1 cause it had all the maps in it.
Then, after that i saw a cheater that was invisible!
So they cheaters after all.Also, sometimes when u die it says that ur still alive once and a while.And gay people vote u off cause they think ur cheatin.And the rank thing is screwed so don't even worrie about it.
its so GAY!!! if u abort a mission or someone kicks u from a game ur rank gets dropped
And i was at rank 20,000 then i got kicked from a game and it dropped me 1,000!
that really sucked big time!

Socom 2 is an awesome game, and all this u hear about people saying u can't kill people and crap, is BS, i used to say the same thing, but it just takes a little time to get used to the new damage system, it is actually alot more realistic, because now if someone shoots you in the foot with a sniper rifle, you don't die, it takes alot of health though, and if you get shot in the center of the chest or head, you're done. All the people you hear complain about SOCOM 2 are either really new, or just suck period. There are a couple spots where people can glitch in the game, and crap like that, but u can always vote them off, and to andy324< remove me > at bellsouth.net u asked about a better gun, try the IW-80 as a seal, and the m14 as a terrorist, they are in my view the best guns, and my stats are 3400 kills and 1700 deaths, so i have done pretty well, i am ranked about 150 and i was at 20 about a week ago. later guys.

Ok I hate to be a Xbox fanboy here but if this is the PS2's BIG shooter I'm very very very disapointed. I bought it cause we wanted something new to play on my friends PS2. Isn't this game supposed to have great graphics and stuff? Where are they? I see none. The voice recognition is shoddy. The thing that pissed me off the most is (lets assume ensign diff) you can get shot like 30 times and not die but if one of the bad guys is close to you and hits you with his gun you die instantly...bam...you get to do the ENTIRE LEVEL OVER AGAIN!!! Who's friggin idea was that? That's a load of crap. If it weren't for that though the game would be fairly easy so I guess it had to resort to pissing you off.
The game did have some good parts I suppose so I gave it a 7...but from such a ballyhoo'd game I'd expect a 9 rating game. I'm so disapointed in Sony. They screwed up so bad this time around.

Socom 2 is the best game ever to be made ever(heh).It has pretty good graphics, great affects,and great online play. One of the great things about socom 2 is that the 1 player game is based almost entirly on stealth and being unsee. You can be seen but you would be a lot better off going through a level with a sniper and frags then playing run and shoot. The only bad thing is the online play is exactly that. most people would prefer to run out and shoot till they die. If you like the 1 player game and want to play online do a mission based level. In the mission based levels your pretty much doing 1 player only with other people.The bad thing is there are "lags",where ur game kind of freezes) glitches, and worst of all cheaters. If there weren't cheaters Then this game would be near perfect. (even though i ranked it 10 anyway) If you want a good shooter that doesnt get old then get socom 2!!!!

Ever since i bought this game like 2-3 years ago i have not stopped playing it "online" play is the bomb... never had so much fun. you can consult in clans and join people in fun 8v8 or 7v7 or 6v6.. and so on it is the greatest if you get this game you are sure to be an addict. if you stop playing it after you get it you might have draw backs like a druggie!!.. but over all i believe this game should win a gold metal and i cant wait till socom 3! Please get this game so i can have more people to beat im feeling like a god on this game and i need a challenge dont make me too lonely get the game and challenge me or i will have to reign supreme forever muhahahaha NOOBS~!. No im kidding but i still think that everyone should buy this game whisper me if you get the game name would probly be Jetsalem226. thats the one im currently working on all my other names are captains so im making another ..

Ok lets go over some of these reviews that are out there. You have all these people that say its a great game and that might be because they know how to play it. As for the others they say it sucks and the graphics are terrible, they are truly wrong about that. They are just looking for an excuse because they can't get past the first couple levels on Ensign for gods sakes.
If you really want a challenge start at the highest level you can and it will be great. There is no game that tops the graphics and if you know of one let me know and I'll check it out!
As for the game play, and little advice; you "have to take your time" I mean sometimes I take 30 mins to 45 mins just to do a mission and not be seen at all. YOu have to sneak around and use cover and concealment. And never get close to them unless your sneaking up on them to knock them out. Well hi me up if you wanna.

Socom 2 is the best game i have ever played online not only is it so realistic and actually believeable it actually makes me want to join the military... i know it sounds retarded but if i could be the seal on my t.v screen i would. The sounds the guns all of that are so real it is like you are in a war yourself. Some things in the game like glitching and all that crap make me want to play it a little less but All the other stuff overpowers the glitchers and makes me want to play it. If you dont have this game i strongly suggest u get it. You will fall in love you may start out crappy and die alot and really fast. But as you play and get owned you will learn to own. Personally i cant w8 till socom 3 comes out i will be at the store the second those doors open and i will be at home playing the game for like 5 hours straight. Or More how could ne1 not like this game its B-E-A- UTIFUL

The game is off the hook! Its not perfect, because of the glitches.But darn close. The graphics are like silk sheets layed on a bed just made by a General. The sound is intense. Just hook up the audio cables to your stereo. A grenade will sound like it just blew up next to you. Not that I'v ever had a grenade blow up next to me. Gameplay is tight like a 21 year old virgin who aint giving it up until shes married. What makes the game whack for me is the ranking system. I think it should be based on kills not score, unless they are scoring the kills.And if they are it doesnt seem like it. They should devise a new ranking system! I have 300 more kills than deaths and 270 more wins than loses and Im still LTC Ranked at 120,000 hoping that after each game Im not deranked!..I lead a clan of more than 13. Ok this is what i think yes socom 2 is good by far better than hAlo and realy beats out the competition but theres one thing i hate and its socom crybabys only because they dont realize that 1 its a game not reality. if you get hit with a proxy bullet in the game do you realy die 4 real... come on get a grip its not really about the rank anymore more ppl re actually starting to learn the glitches and having fun with it. i myself like to glitch from time to time to take a brek after a clan battle it loosens the tention i my have while in a battle. i realy dont care if ya glitch or play lagit but remember keep the clan battles clean its well worth the fun and i know since most of the glitches are hard others are there to help if you got any ?s you can add me by typing #CK RAZIEL and letts have fun we are not in a tournament to see how beats who and who owns who just have fun peace

This game is by far the best ps2 game yet to come out. But only online play. DO NOT buy this game if you dont have a network adapter and a compatable isp. The online play is completely addicting.Yes glitchers gamesharkers and all those other you know wuts are still in the game but just deal with it cuz no matter where you go some1 is giong to be there to give you a hard time.The new maps are awesome (Crossroads, Fish Hook) and the other socom 1 maps r still there. Added guns r awesome and the graphics r awesome. THe one bad thing in then game is the disadvantage on online between SEALS and Terrorist. Seals have an advantage with better guns(M203s Iw-80) and on lots of levels the seals have a better starting advantage.The best terrorist guns(M14 M203)the seals also have. Juat go out and buy the game so i can maybe play you and hopefully beat u(SoCoM~JaYhAwK)

I abosultley love this game i cant think of ne other game id rather play as hard as try i cannot get sick of it i love playing online except there a few minor problems one lag 9999 shots to kill people if its laggy and 2 gettin shot through a wall sucks other than that its freggin amazing i play it everyday and if u dont have it and u got a online adapter ur freggin insane you can shoot grenade launchers the guns are acttually real my buddys in the army and he uses an m16a2 m203 in real life in iraq the m4ai m203 is a sweet gun the shotguns are nice i love the hkksd and my all time favorite gun that the made so much better on this game THE ONEAND ONLY M14! but what also its really cool is the mines even tho when i lag's u can run right over them but another sweet feature is the thermal scopes on the sniper rifles i regulate body heat through bushes and long distance shots

This is one of the greatest games I've ever played. Single player is good, and you're teammates listen well and are very helpful in killing enemies. But the real sweetness in the game is online. If you have a broadband connection (DSL, cable, any high speed, NOT dial-up), then you HAVE TO play it online. Its the best online game i've ever played by far. Better than any Xbox Live game that i've tried. Graphics are great online and off, and cool weapons. Its great online b/c its basically impossible to cheat, and talking strategy with your teammates is fun. Don't hesitate to get it online, and no, it DOESN'T cost any monthly/yearly fee to play this game. If you have any questions feel free to email me, and get this game. game is great like i said and play socom 2 online, its fun meeting people and playing the game. Trying to get up in rank is fun too.

Though I am not a buyer of the predecessor of SOCOM II, I find the game among the top 3 shooter games for PS2. Graphics are top-notch, and the world detail is highly detailed. The headset commands are slightly vague, and the aknowladgements from your teamates are not exactly the best quality. The entire gameplay itself is at it's fullest though, and the originality of this game is 9/10. I love playing this game at any time, once I got up from sleeping to play it. If that doesn't tell you that this is a fun game, nothing will. I am a little dissappointed, however, with the scale of pain in SOCOM. It seems I can be shot three times in the head with a double-barreled shotgun and lose only 1/2 of my life. But when an enemy smacks me in the face with a SR-25 SD, I die instantly. Overall, this game could face minimal repairs if it were to be restructured.
